Beautiful Timber Rattler / Canebreak ! I love these rattle snakes... Color combination is usually stunning ! I've caught many .
I love fishing all three of those dams , they are fun and sometimes can be amazing fishing. That is the second rattlesnake I have seen in that area , the other was by the walkway that goes over the river downstream from there.
I live in middle Tennessee can you tell me the name of that Dam he's fishing at?
Why you copy an paste as if it was your brief story?
@@MrZackb69 what??
I love fisherman stories. Always about the one that got away.”It was this big!” he said.(Ha,Ha) Love it. Stay safe mate. Shoutout from Australia. 👍🇦🇺😁
Speaking of big fish, I caught a bass in Texas and the bass was so big, the picture weighed 5 pounds
@@edsmith651 Well said mate. That was indeed funny.👍😁😜🤩🇦🇺
@@edsmith651 .......I caught one so big that when I wrote the weight on the calendar date, it pulled the calendar off the wall!
Used to fish the Ocoee a ton!! My In-Laws owned a house about 2 hours float down from the dam below the lake. I spent a bunch of time wade fishing and canoeing. Loved that place
That last picture of the Rattlesnake, with that particular memory verse-Perfect! Great verse of scripture, there.
Glad you didn't get bitten by that bugger!
Appreciate how realistic you stay, lots of good tips yet entertaining everytime
By far most underrated fishing channel
I agree!
Absolutely beautiful timber rattler. Glad everyone left it alone to do its own thing.
Perfect patterns and colors.
@@Crussman499 I agree, would LOVE to see that while fishing. They aren't so common down here in SE Texas
Sonnet de serpent en Louisiane francais .
I hate the ,(it’s a snake! Kill it!) mentality. I’d love to see one in the wild.
Yep I’d killed it !!!
John this channel is so like my childhood fishing that I never quit as a adult. At 59 still my favorite type of fishing steam, ditch or creek I love to to do it. Thanks for your videos
Nice variety of fish, Thanks for sharing!
I remember the video you made last time..that water sure is low indeed. Thanks for the footage John .God Bless
Stay safe and watch your six when kneeing down. A pole with a 10-12 inch knife works well. Carry a shovel and bury the head. The head can bite for over an hour after separation so that is the reason to shovel the head into a hole. You will be surprised by how many fish will go after the rest of the snake. If you can ..., skin it first for fish bait. Did you say this was the first time for a rattlesnake? Enjoyed the video.
Thank you for respecting the snake. As a wise man once said, "you only put yourself in danger when you try to put OTHERS in danger"
Good day fishing, exciting to see the Rattle snake. I am also glad to see you just let it go. Enjoyed the video!
I love those Bobby Garland soft plastics. I have caught so many crappie on the blue ice color!
That snake was like an all terrain vehicle 😂
OMG Can't tell you how many times I've brought my dogs to that private take out to take them swimming. I'll have to be more careful now
I always watch my step and where im at much more when im around rocks and water. They love to bask on them
Hello from Oklahoma! Good video! I've started using barbless hooks for bass, sunfish. Makes it so much easier. Loved the snake.
I’m from Oklahoma to in the Norman area where do u recommend fishing
That snake seemed to know exactly where it wanted to go. Snakes definitely make me nervous, especially when I take my dog along.
One of the reasons I don’t take mine. I live in Texas too.
@dennis coates Yea....until that poisonous critter bites you.
@dennis coates who said anything about harming the critters?
@@johnjames2817 he will never attack you unless you attack him
@@avetsuper6272 You or your dog might not see him and get a little too close on accident...then all of a sudden you get bit. Just have to be careful.
He's getting himself some sun. Warm day and good fishing make for the creepy crawlies to get out and enjoy it too!
Of all the years i've been up here on the Ocoee i've never ran into a rattle snake. Now up at prentice copper in Chatt i've seen alot.
I know the Tennessee DNR turned several thousand timber rattlesnakes loose at prentice Cooper about 10 years ago…
@@Wootangtw was that due to an imbalance in the eco system?
@@Rob-mr9xg I have no idea… I heard to thin out the rodents…
Nice mixed bag of fish, bass lures then switching to the ultralight spinning rod for good numbers. The action is always fun minus the snake. Not many poisonous ones in IL but the water snakes are feisty. We always give them a wide berth. Love the sunset closer. Thanks for sharing brother man.
Wow what a Blessed fishing adventure !!!! That Rattler wasn't interested in anything but getting to the water !! Thank you !!
Great scenery John. Loved the red sky in the background near the end of the video. Ultralight is great fun. You inspired my 13 year old son to try ultralight fishing. Thanks John from your friends in Scotland 🏴 🎣
I had one crawl underneath my tackle bag that I set down on the bank. I go to pick up my bag and SURPRISE! It rattled it's rattle and striked at me. I was very lucky it didn't get me
That bass at the beginning of the video 📹 was a beast 👌 😳 💪
Yesterday my hand was about 8" away from a rattle snake and didn't even know it. It slithered out of the grass around a small tree where I was pulling weeds. Scared the holy hell out of me. Killed it with a shovel.
😆
killed it the important words
Cool video. Reminded me of growing up on the Missouri River.
Lived near there my whole life and never fished below the dams. Caught some monster bass up at the lake.
Beautiful Canebrake rattler, about 2 years old, depending on the buttons, they add a button each time it sheds.
Yeah buddy fish ON !!!
Still a very nice day to be out there be outside. Great video
Insane! Tight lines from us at FishHooked John!
Last time I went out I caught a water moccasin on a stick bait.
Thanks for the videos
I see alot of fishing spot possibilities but the snake thing gets me every time.
Timber rattler is one of the most dangerous venomous snakes in U. S. Long fangs and high yield venom.
At first I was wondering just how could you tell it's a Timber rattlesnake but after the zoom I can see, that looks like a Timber rattlesnake.
I, kill everyone I ever come across my path get bit by one and anti-venom is $56,000 per vile with a minimum of 4-5 viles if hopefully, the hospital has them and you don't lose a digit or a limb or die approx hospital cost is about $275,000 that's why and yea know folks will say leave them alone and they won't bother you sometimes they can come out of nowhere when hiking or walking and I dont, feel I have to co-exist with a snake especially on my property every snake on my property gets a round of snake shot.
@@jayblue5310 I agree .if I see any on my property in wv they get snakeshot from a 357 mag..
Title caught my attention ,had a 5 ft cottonmouth swim by me yesterday wading for smallmouth within 3ft of me my mind was on getting good video !
John, good for you to leave the snake alone, too many people get hysterical (like my wife).
Nothing like a random rattlesnake encounter to spice up your day, hehe.
The bite is definitely on there. Getting to be prime wading time. Can't wait to see your next adventures
good vid bro. love that area. will be there soon. beautiful rattler. we just saw an enormous timber rattler up in NC, high up in the mountains. seen a few of em out east. way to let em be, i never mess with them, just let em be.... cheers.
Great fishing video. Your channel has become my favorite fishing channel. Beautiful canebrake rattler, he wouldn’t hurt you unless you stepped on him or tried to catch him. I like rattlers over cottonmouths and copperheads. At least they’ll warn you first.
I like when my local damn is up its hard to fish but thats when the monsters bite mostly. Good video man .
My worst fear while I’m fishing “snakes”😓
Style points for the release at 2:37, 9/10, nice rotation
The mighty Ocoee at the dam!
for some reason this video ended up getting a ton of views
Always be aware near Dams the snakes 🐍fall from the rock bluffs and the current takes them downstream!
There were working on the dam. Replacing the wooden retainer at the top. That was around the end of April/first of May.
Nice timber/canebrake. One of the more passive rattlesnakes. Great for rodent control.
AMEN! Great video! Notice how a Rattlesnake or other poisonous snakes always swim with their whole body out of the water! Prolly had came out of its winter den and headed across the river to lay eggs!
Venomous.
@@christopherwood2290 correction accepted! I was born in a place called Rattlesnake holler. I revert back to hill talk off and on!
Nice video man love your videos keep up the good work and go catch a big one , rattlesnake are beautiful but I have never seen one in the wild before
Lucky sighting. It’s been about 3yrs since I’ve seen one
Nice little fish , watch out for Mr.No shoulder lol
On a Sunday. Yeeeeees sir
i went ahead and bought the 75.00 snake leggins, they were worth it,been hit dozens of time, that kevlar ruins their day and saves yours,CABELLAS has them in stock ,fear no snake, now back to fishing
That was wild seeing him n the water!!!
A serpent of biblical proportions
It’s funny how you go through snaky looking places in every episode, but an asphalt parking lot is where you have your snake encounters! Ha! Thanks for the vids!
Haha. I just wonder how many I have walked right past
When in doubt, the wacky rig for the win
Love all John's videos but he especially shines when he does Dalton roots fishing, multispecies, ultralight tackle, small water fishing. Nobody can match him.
I reckon we all have different priorities....I would tried ra catch the fish then deal with the snake....my granddaughter said snake first poppa, duh. Thanks for sharing John, God bless.
yellow perch is the best catfish bait in the river flatheads and blues the big ones they can't resist
Thanks for not killing the snake. Yes they are dangerous but if you leave them alone they will leave you alone. Nice video.
We were up at Indian Boundary this weekend. Caught a few 🐟. Caught a gigantic black Crappie last night. It was massive! The one time I didn't bring my camera, either. It was close to dark and they got really active near the boat ramp bank.
Glad to see this, I've been thinking about fishing Ocoee
Is this in Tennessee
i've seen em cross water a bunch of times. great swimmers...
The little ones are more dangerous. They don't know to save more venom for other predators, so they will dump their whole load! :) Cool video!
rattlesnakes not only could swim but they go underwater for long periods of time, they can bite your nuts while under the water.
Have you ever used reaction innovations swim baits
Where's Eve ? 🥰 Thanks 4 sharing 🐍
Well that makes a creek adventure stay safe , great vid !!!!
Is this right below the parksville lake there at the corner is that the same dam did not know you can fish down there
As usual another fun video. I could have done without the rattler though. I think I'd leave before it got to dark, he may just swim back across the river.
Hi, I. Just love watching you fish, you tell what you are going to do that's so helpful, I really hope I can go fishing soon lol 😂 I know you are enjoying yourself. Good luck.
I've always wondered what was in the Ocoee. I've driven by it at least 100 times.
So...can you strap your polarized sunglasses to the camera all the time? ;) that was super cool. Thanks for the video!
That rattlesnake is number 2 on the most aggressive snakes in the south the cottonmouth is number 1 he will come get in the boat to see how many fish you are catching LoL good video all but the snake
Great video, a cool encounter, and some seriously impressive fishing skills!
I agree, John has more talent and natural instincts than anyone I have known.
Great job brother!!!
Do you ever get to South Holston Dam/Lake in Bristol, Tn? That's was my home stomping grounds as a kid.
I would love to fish a river with that many species. I don’t care for rattlers, I have had them on property we had in Oregon and lost a horse to one. We had a neighbor that we would call and let him know if we had killed a rattler and hang it on his gate for him to get. He loved to eat them so they didn’t go to waste. Now in Montana and the area we are in doesn’t have them which is good. My husband can’t hear them, they rattle at a frequency he doesn’t hear, so I don’t have to worry about him out walking. I don’t mind any of the non venomous snakes but they do sometimes startle me.
Lures work good. If you're lazy, drown worms while drinking beer lol
nice little timber rattler
0:49 I believe those were carp
Go man go.
SNAKE!!! Call Cole and Jay:)
Beautiful snake. Timber rattler, I guess. Thanks for bringing us alone, John.
.......Canebreak rattler!
Did you catch all those yellow perch above the dam?
Hey, great fishing videos,
Noooo, stop don't throw him back I wants him...wish I was there fishing 2....Great job. 😎💯💯👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
If the snakes whole body is on top of the water it's poisonous if it's head only is out of the water it's non-poisonous. Great Video by the way!👍
You're lucky, all it does up here in ky is rain
Supposed to clear up for a week, hopefully the rivers will drop a bit.
Tell me about it, brother. Tried to fish the Cumberland river over the weekend and it was chocolate milk.
@@kentuckycreekfishing7342 same with green river lake, makes me want to move to Arizona lol
What I do when deciding on what size reel to use is which reel balances the best on the rod you are using
Did you say you just got a random tug?
Another Good Video. Thanks Keep Them Coming
I fish for bass!!!! and anacondas too!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰😈💩☠💀👿🐉🐉🐉🐉🐊🐊🐊🐸🐸🐍🐍🐬🐍🦎🦎🦎🐢🐢🦕🦖🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
That was a timber-rattler and they are a protected species here in Texas. (Not sure where you are.)
Snakes, any snakes, make me nervous. But your videos are very good, both to watch and for information.
I believe that was an Eastern Diamond back....
