I will give that dewalt 3 or 4 years everyday use, I'm a plumber, I've had them at the mud, drop off of ceiling joists, it can take a beating. Dewalt has been extremely tough in my experience.
I have all my 30 or so year old made in USA Milwaukee corded tools. I hardly ever pull them out because I go cordless just for the handiness. They even had a lifetime warranty! Great video as usual Steve!
I continue to use my 9amp corded Porter Cable reciprocating saw for 20 years, its a beast. I may get the Dewalt saw because my drill uses the same battery and cordless is so convenient for smaller jobs.
You made a good decision on that purchase. I have an industrial old porter cable tiger saw that's about 25 or more years old and has 2 settings, one for metal and one for wood. Will stomp the tar out of any cordless out there but I never really use it any more unless needed. I always grab my old 18v dewalt, or craftsman sawzall, why, because it's cordless. With most all tools cordless it's quicker to grab and cut said piece than to set up the corded and the hassle of it all. I as you grew up in the trades where everything was either corded or ran off an air hose, so corded tools are a dream to us. I still have all of mine and maintain them but rarely use them. You will have that tool like myself a loooong time. They take a beating and keep on ticking. It will be the batteries that go before the tool ever will.
You're going to love that cordless unit Steve. I've had a Ryobi 18 volt for years and use it to limb trees all the time. It's cheep and works great. Cheers.
Great video! I wonder what the longevity is on the Dewalt vs the corded? I have used my blue corded Makita for over 20 yrs. But now that I'm retired and able to be selective about projects (and older/weaker), I think I'll give the Dewalt 20V Max a try. They're currently on sale here. Thanks again for the demo!
Just bought it today at lowes. $99.00 no sales tax here in NH. I have my DeWalt from 11 years ago that uses the nicad batteries. Was going to buy a battery but my new drill has the lithium ion so I went this route!
Great Steve! Up to now, my opinion about reciprocating saw is bad. But here is why.... I've bought a Job Mate (yes, the cheapest corded brand ever made, decades ago) reciprocating saw. It got enough power to shake an entire house if the blade pinches. When releasing the trigger, it got so much inertia, it will continue for a second or two messing the surroundings. Not to say it's an auto-loosening set screw. It weighs 25lbs (to my feelings...). And it has a 3 feet cord, so it will disconnect soon from the extension cord. Lol! No wonder I hate it!!! Now that you showed us this tool, I am on the market for a new one!!! Great tool, great results! Thanks Steve!
Yes sir, the portability is key. I have a lot of areas that do not include electricity so the battery operated saw is my only option. Unless I use my old hand saw of course. You always make good points and bring a few points I never thought of to the conversation. :)
Thanks Wyatt - the cordless is great but there are times I can see a corded will be the best choice. Off grid up at my camp this will be the best option for me. Cheers
How's she goin'? Battery powered tools have come a long way and have great improvements. The quick connect blade is a time saver. Nice test Steve and interesting results. Take 'er easy!!!
Good video Steve, I always wanted to get a cordless reciprocating saw but didn't think they had enough power or to slow. I was in the business where I used one quite often so always had a milwaukie.
I have a black and decker 120v reciprocal saw from that era but in 1998 I dont think dewalt made one . Today DeWalt, Black & Decker, Craftsman, Porter-Cable and more - are all owned by the same company, Stanley Black & Decker
"Cutting" edge technology my friend.....I came to see and I "saw". I have a Crapsman cordless 18v and replaced it with the Harbor Freight corded. Thanks Steve.
second question: all the safety instructions tell you not to travel or chnage blades while the battery is in the handle. isnt it smarter to always remove your blade whenever you want to transport the tool ? remove the battery and the blade AND lock the switch out? yes, i know, impatience makes you want to rush and not bother--but wouldnt that preclude having accidental turn-ons in your truck or your shop or lying around on the worksite?????
Stanley owns both brands! dewalt made radial arm saws way back until Stanley bought the company and made the hand tool line. I never knew black and decker had made a trade or heavy duty line
I was thinking the same thing Steve but what the Hell.Whenever I'm home before my wife I'm the cook so I guess she'll be getting to sample some of Helga's dishes done by me.
I love when people switch from corded to cordless, my cheap butt buys all those old used corded models all day. On a side note I have a 90s dewalt corded and that vibrates like crazy compared to my older 70s skill.
Didn't we order a bunch of those last year ROB? Ya, I never got mine either. LMAO Sorry guys this is an inside JOKE. Actually ROB why don't ya make a video on that little venture we had with the BIG deals. That was a hoot.
I’m just going to say something sort of for the record, and when I’m done, we'll all laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh. But if your state or locality has sales tax that a website doesn’t charge you, legally you’re required to keep track of what you were supposed to pay in taxes and voluntarily pay it yourself later on. 😂

I just missed you Mike. :)
Lifetime warranty wow I did not know that. Thanks Mike...
I continue to use my 9amp corded Porter Cable reciprocating saw for 20 years, its a beast. I may get the Dewalt saw because my drill uses the same battery and cordless is so convenient for smaller jobs.
Cordless anything does not compete directly with cordless but its sure convenient 👍 Cheers Glen
Not having a cord, a saw like that also comes in handy for trimming tree branches real quick. 👌👌
Yes lots of uses but for me being off grid at the camp it's a must have or I drag a genset around . LOL

Good to know and glad you like yours too. Cheers
You're going to love that cordless unit Steve. I've had a Ryobi 18 volt for years and use it to limb trees all the time. It's cheep and works great. Cheers.
I have been using it quite a bit trying to find something wrong but wow for the money it's a bear of a saw. Cheers Larry

`2022, bought the same saw in NJ at Lowe's for $129.00 with a 5ah battery, and LOL, I have that same B&D corded saw.
Wow thats a great deal 👍

WoW thats awesome 👌
I just pick one up today, can't wait to use it I also bought some Dewalt blades I also bought a flexvolt battery 6.0amp.
👍
I hear the flexvolt will destroy 20v max tools the flexvolt should only be used with flexvolt advantage tools

HAHAHA and today this can be bought for about 3 cases of good beer :) Cheers Joe

Thanks Mike it's a handy addition but the quick change blade is super cool or what, LOL
I bought one just like it and it,s works great around the house and tractor sted.
Danny for the money i'm thinking their disposable for the most part but interestingly enough they seem to last a long time. Cheers
I got that DeWALT, its a nice saw. I have Milwaukee M12 tools too, glad I didn't spring for that saw.
Both great brands ,I have the m12 too.Cheers
Good video Steve, I always wanted to get a cordless reciprocating saw but didn't think they had enough power or to slow. I was in the business where I used one quite often so always had a milwaukie.
Thanks Sam. I am surprised at how good it is and for the money less today than the industrial corded unit from many years back.
Great video! I have a question (it's a strange one, for a project I'm writing) Do you know what reciprocating saw model DeWalt made in 1998?
I have a black and decker 120v reciprocal saw from that era but in 1998 I dont think dewalt made one . Today DeWalt, Black & Decker, Craftsman, Porter-Cable and more - are all owned by the same company, Stanley Black & Decker
"Cutting" edge technology my friend.....I came to see and I "saw". I have a Crapsman cordless 18v and replaced it with the Harbor Freight corded. Thanks Steve.
Cutting edge yes and a corded tool never runs out of charge . If it cuts its a keeper 👍
I have both the 20v cordless and the corded model love them !!
Norm they both have their place and for off grid at the camp it's awesome👍
New technology really is impressive 👍
This for the money is a great deal if you use one. Cheers bud.
Nice comparison, the battery unit will be good at the camp.
Yes Lloyd it will and save me dragging a genset around.
Great for making shooting lanes before deer season to.
Good point and for quartering up as well. A friend does a whole moose on one battery.
Thanks Steve. Great vid
Much appreciated Frank 👍
"Hello, do you know if i can use this tool with a 6.0ah flexvolt dcb606 batteries, thanks
Not sure but if you look at the dewalt site it has battery interchangeable charts to know for sure. Cheers

Yes good point and safety is always good so using the trigger lock or removing the battery is a good idea too.
Stanley owns both brands! dewalt made radial arm saws way back until Stanley bought the company and made the hand tool line. I never knew black and decker had made a trade or heavy duty line
Yes B&D did and they also rebadged it for other tool companies sold around the world. Cheers
how long does it take to charge, once the battery runs down? does a 20v take longer than a 12 volt?
Love your videos! Canadians are the best eh!
Thanks bud much appreciated.
Over the years, my corded saw has done some great jobs for me and yes it is heavy.
I don't think I need anything else.
I agree . If I didn't have an off grid camp where I need one my old corded did great. Cheers
Great video! Thanks for the side by side!
👍
If I'm getting paid by the hour then I want the Milwaukee 😂
Yes me too - you can book twice as many hours with a milwaukee :)
we love our dewalt tools
Yes sir and they just do what we want and that's all we want. Cheers Keith
Good test Steve...hard to believe the difference.Just subbed to Helga.
Thanks Ken. Helga is by far one of my favorite channels to gain weight as I try some great food ideas I shouldn't eat :) Cheers
I was thinking the same thing Steve but what the Hell.Whenever I'm home before my wife I'm the cook so I guess she'll be getting to sample some of Helga's dishes done by me.
Black and Decker industrial was rebranded as snap-on from what I've seen.
Wow thats interesting. I see so many products with snap-on it now.
Excellent bro 👍👏👉🙏
Thanks Ron , much appreciated 👍
GOod One Steve........I don't havé One of dose....Time to go shopping....CHEERS
Gator it's a great saw so far. I'm not leaving anything behind except my power tools.😁😁
Just borrow your son's Gator.
I got one too and i love it....cheers
Sure comes in handy that's for sure . Cheers
first question: why do you use blades not made for the tool by dewalt? isnt there a risk that they arent designed for the tool, nativeley?
Janet the blades are generic and fit universally for all reciprocating saws same as circular saws or drills using regular drill bits .
I love when people switch from corded to cordless, my cheap butt buys all those old used corded models all day. On a side note I have a 90s dewalt corded and that vibrates like crazy compared to my older 70s skill.
LOL your pretty sharp Pat. If I didn't have an off grid place without electricity my old saw would do quite well for the next 30 years eh :)
@@SteveRobReviews Steve don't you have like three generators? Haha
@@patcb829 5:) but I'm not dragging them around anymore .😁
How many amps is the black and decker
10 amps
Thanks!
Cheers
I have a 20-volt B&D that weighs practically nothing. Great for those 1 arm jobs. :-)
LOL yes we have to think about that constantly.
Didn't we order a bunch of those last year ROB? Ya, I never got mine either. LMAO Sorry guys this is an inside JOKE. Actually ROB why don't ya make a video on that little venture we had with the BIG deals. That was a hoot.
LOL John i didn't want to do it without your permission . It was funny
Looks there is something interesting to relate on that subject...
Joe - John and I did the craziest thing you ever heard of and one day I will say if he gives me the ok. LOL
I WANT TO ORDER HOW?
I just order off Amazon or a place with the best price.
Home depot for $ 130 in CA USA
New York State is 8% sales tax Not all states are the same. Many Online sites have 0% sales tax.
Wow 8% would be nice . Up here the min. is 13%
I’m just going to say something sort of for the record, and when I’m done, we'll all laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh. But if your state or locality has sales tax that a website doesn’t charge you, legally you’re required to keep track of what you were supposed to pay in taxes and voluntarily pay it yourself later on. 😂
Corded? I’d end up cutting the cord anyways 😂. Cordless is a safer choice for me!
LOL yes by the looks you're a cordless kinda guy ........
I don't worry about a tool lasting 30 years anymore or even 20 years. In 15 years I will be 84 and likely won't know what a saw is anyway....LoL
HAHA Bill I'm real optimistic eh😁
If you live long enough guess which one will be around in 30 years.
LOL good point buddy , my mother is turning 92 this year so I'm think that's a good sign 😁
The last saw you only used one hand.so would take alot longer lol
I thought that is how it is made , to use one hand
You'll hopefully have electric in 30 yrs, those batteries will be long out dated. That is the weak link.
Yes and i'm sure there really selling more batteries than powertools. Cheers
