I’m a plumber and I actually use this for work:
For the price this is actually a great tool. It’s not as powerful as the m18 hackzall because it’s not even in the same class but it’s been my go-to saw since it came out on a daily basis.
Skip whatever is going on in this video and just get one, if you want more power get the m18 hackzall, that’s as simple as this needs to be.

As a renovations contractor I am loving the smaller tools that we tend to find useful day to day. Highly used tools are impact, oscillation saw, and 4-1/2” circular saw. We are simply finding that the heavier larger tools just aren’t necessary for the most part. Next add will be the 7-1/4” miter saw.

I completely agree. I've been slowly transitioning to smaller tools. I still have larger, more powerful ones for some bigger jobs but 90% of the time - smaller is better.

@@smperkins410 DeWalt 60v flexvolt tools have the power of corded electric. WS did a test, corded worm drive skilsaw vs. 60v worm drive saw and the cordless was nearly twice as fast at rip cuts. I have their 60v string trimmer, the low setting alone is more powerful than both my 25cc green weedeater and 31cc ryobi trimmer. I'm a believer in the power. The only problem is you're still limited to battery duration and extra 60v flexvolt batteries makes my wallet cry...

I'm a dewalt fan and I have no problem saying that some of milwaukee stuff is better than dewalt vice versa, tho saying ''DO NOT BUY THIS ... DEWALT UNIMPRESSED ME'' is kinda stupid in my opinion

The atomic runs smoother less vibration than the milwaukee compact recip saw. I work in singleply roofing and this tool is way better than than the res brand. Also we really don't need a heavy duty recip saw for cutting insulation and dens deck.

I had to grab my m18 brushed Hackzall today with my pruning blade to trim a branch to get a Uhaul under. I've cut so many branches up into logs that the blade should be worn but the pain is off it and still cuts like butter. I grew to like the Milwaukee version even more after the TTR.

I have the old 12v saw and still use it for light work in cabinets or working above my head on top of the ladder. I love the light weight, ability to get in tight places and controlablity. The 5/8 stroke is good for cutting sheetrock and not snagging romex behind. I also have the dewalt subcompact 20v for tougher stuff and a full size. Everything has it's purpose. I'm not going to compare this to a full size like some of y'all. I'll wait till the price drops on this or perhaps a 12v version comes out. I did try it out at a demo when it came out and liked the feel for fine work more that the Milwaukee. When I'm working in fine cabinetry control is more important than speed.

The reason why in Europe the tools are 18V is because that a product in Europe must get a CE certificate instead of the UL equivalent in USA one. In order to get the CE certificate the item must not only be safe to use (that is what the UL guarentee and only guarantee that) BUT also to be described scientifically correct. Stict speaking the lithium cell is by definition 3.6V and when charged fully is 4.0 Volt. So 5 cells give 18Volt or 20Volt Maximum charge. So strickly speaking the battery is 18Volt and that is what the CE enforce to describe it as 18V.

How are you going to complain about the tool standing up on the battery when you have 9 drill in the background doing that exact same thing.
If anything this video convinced me to buy one.
Also your title states not enough power. Please understand that this is a one handed tool which was mainly created for cutting things above your head. So if a person is seeking more power wouldn't you tell them to choose the DeWalt DCS367 reciprocating 2 hand saw?

After several big tree limbing jobs, i no longer regret it. This is the first tool that goes up the tree with me for pruning out smaller limbs. With a 9” fleam ground pruning blade( haven’t tried the carbide pruning blade yet but it might work better), this rips through smaller green limbs faster than the heavier arbor chain saw. My ability to move my body around in the tree is so much faster and more comfortable when I’m using this saw. Buy the fuel version if you already have m18

by spec, the Atomic is definitely a lower tier dewalt product line. the XR being there bigboy tier. the upside to these little guys is the 5/8 stroke. that's the selling point. the larger ones have 1-1/8"+ stroke. now that's not a problem if you cutting into big deep cavities, or just saw-horsed panels. but if your trying to control a shallow cut, and keep the blade from smashing into something else in the hole (like sprinkler lines, electrical boxes, drains, water lines, block/brick etc...) the short stroke it very helpful. nobody likes bending the shit outta a blade, or snapping the tip off. especially a brand new blade. and with blade prices nowadays, not shanking them is a plus. honestly if your doing serious work/demo involving a receip-saw, your probably better off going hard with a 60v or corded model. these little guys are great to have in the tool bag, "in case shit" as not much is less fun than grabbing a receipblade with pliers to cut one damn little thing. rigid had my favorite short stroke corded. thing was so tiny, but amazing for shallow work if you had ac available.

    It feels alright.
    Vibrations low...stroke is short.
But I know why they did that.
    Safety yellow...
Tomorrow I have to get a drill.
    Any recommendations.
    Preferably XR...Brushless.

I’ve got the full size cordless 20v dewalt saw and work with a couple guys who use a Milwaukee 18v full size saw. We’re plumbers and I’m the only one who can cut pvc straight. Soooo in my opinion dewalt is king. 😁🤣😂

Great video as always guys! I have a request though, if possible please compete both dewalt xtreme subcompact 12v impact driver vs the dewalt 20v 885 impact driver. On paper the 12v is more powerful in every way. Please compare when and if possible. Thanks guys!

Title is confusing, but I own dewalt and i like it but milwaukee is more compact and sounds meaner. But dewalt holds its own. I got the xr drill shipping to my house and I'm so pumped!!

Just watched the video, and nothing really bad to say about the DeWalt saw in it, but the blurb describing the video is straight up bias. I just bought the DeWalt saw in this video and I could not be happier with it.

The funny thing is the new Makita 40v is literally a 36v Nominal system just like there x2 but with a single battery they’re just being weirdos by calling it 40v and needlessly throwing marketing at a problem that doesn’t exist
I assume they worried that 36v x2 customers would panic or it would look like they’re backpedaling by using a 36v Single battery system suddenly etc and...it does, only time will tell.
Calling it 40v max to ME is like a sticker that says don’t worry, we aren’t trying to screw you, just your family. If voltage mattered to that degree Milwaukee 18v wouldn’t be kicking most 36 & 40v tools butts. That’s not a fanboy statement. I don’t want that to be true, but It is. Go look at all the higher voltage tools, most of them are still spec’ed below Milwaukee fuel’s numbers. That’s all she wrote.

I disagree. This atomic saw has virtually no vibration and has been a godsend to my appliance installation work. The short stroke and smooth operation has proven to be superior when cutting in the exhaust hole in the wall behind over the range microwaves. We use it for everything on our install jobs and I will say it's actually perfect. We love the atomic line because the value is there.

@@VCGConstruction When punching through the 3x10 inch ducting located behind the sheetrock it sure is nice to have a short stiff blade and short stroke which guarantees I won't punch through the backside. And the almost non existent vibration makes it cut faster with no wall damage. Vibration makes a recip saw cut slow. This atomic saw cuts fast, clean, while retaining my teeth!

I agree. I’ve been loving the atomic saw for my work. I don’t do cuts like I’m in a race. I need cuts to be straight and I dont care if they take a few seconds more.

Ilike the compact sizeand power of it , but the blade chuck and lock are made of steel and rusted quickly in a marine environment.
