Review of the DeWALT cordless lithium ion 20 volt max compact reciprocating saw features and performance.
Unlike traditional inline reciprocating saws, this one features a drop motor design to reduce length at only 14.5 inches
DCS387B : Baretool
DCSTS387L1 : Kit with Tough System case & 1x 3.0 battery as seen in this video
DCS387P1 : Kit with tool bag and 1x 5.0 battery
I have the corded version of this saw and felt it was underpowered but, it is nice to get into tight spots. I'm going to have to take at look at this saw because I find myself getting away from the cord. Nice review.
regopit44 I think the corded model is 10 amps and this saw has the same length and about the same weight 6.8 corded vs 6.4 cordless so its a good cordless alternative
Good stuff J-Dog. I think it is so great that Dewalt is offering these tools with tough boxes.
Brien thanks Brien, that tough box is great and I saw a 2 combo kit also that comes with one
I have seen the kit with the drill and impact, what is the other kit?
Brien thats the one
It's nice to see Dewalt has decided to ship some of their tools in Tough Boxes now. I will admit I probably won't give up my M12 or M18 Fuel Sawzall for this saw though :) Not to say its a bad saw at all I just like the Fuel Sawzalls.
DarkRaptor99 I agree - great idea on the tough boxes as the tool cases
great review Javier and it's good to see DeWalt are starting to put their cordless tools in tough boxes, they have been doing that in the UK fir a while now and I've been hoping they would do it this side of the pond. the price point is awesome but I'm sure they'll add a few bucks for us up here in Canada! I already own the DCS380L1 so I might try and get the bare tool as I have a lot of 20v max batteries. Happy Halloween bro, have a great weekend!
TheBearuk1 thanks bro, I like the tough boxes and would be great to see more kits with them included. Hopefully they show up in Canada, have a great weekend!
This saw is honestly pretty damn cool! But the best part is the included toughbox. I've always wanted dewalt to include these with the tools, since they came out. We've had a couple offerings, but nothing like in the uk, where boxes like this are more of a standard, and her in the US, we get a crappy canvas bag :-(
yeah they get some of the cool stuff first or at all, I like that their including these tough cases in kits because they're more practical than regular kit tool cases and bags. I like that its just a regular tough system case included with a removable liner so you can use it as a regular tough case. I also saw a 2 tool 20v combo that came with a tough case at the store
I heard of tool fights but video war?? Same day post well done nice job
Good job man, i enjoy watching your videos they are always fair and balanced.
MrMrbean86 thanks bro!
And as always, outstanding job Javier!
Matthew Fant thanks Matthew!
great vid man love that u told the price so we dnt have to look it up yea we r lazy lol
Djthunder PSN thanks bro, ha I think were all lazy. I also don't want to scare some people with prices, I have some $500-600 tools coming up. I think they're worth it but some people might have a heart attack. When its a really good deal I like to inform you guys of price
lol yea dont want to make ppl crock over! i agree some tools are worth that much some even more but there are junk tools up there as well which sucks for ppl that bought them
Dang! I would buy this saw for the case alone!
Matthew Wiswell I agree, and the case makes it an extreme value- I also saw another 2 combo brushed kit with drill and impact that has the same tough case
great review again javier! keep up the good work man. not sure why they didnt go brushless???
Tee Giang Thanks Tee, not sure but todays brushed tools are still excellent tools in terms power and run time. This saw certainly didn't lack power or runtime
recipsaw should be frontheavy so you can use earth pullforce as help ^_^
+HogeN1337 indeed
Great review. Thanks.
Going to buy it thx
Excelente amigo!!!!!! another great review!!! Congrats!

ToolCrazy Hola amigo!!! El próximo será el jueves 13 de Noviembre a las 8:30 hora de México df, 6:30 para ti. yo se que no amigo, tu y yo somos cuates :) saludos!!
Well done Javier I Been eyeing this since I saw on forum and am really debating on selling my other one for this I really like how compact this one is and the stats are almost the same anyway oh and it comes with tough boxes, thanks Javier!! Would u trade it in for this one meaning the older one?
Mike Z thanks Mike Z, I haven't tried the original but would imagine they are identical in performance but you get a smaller saw with the new one but no adjustable shoe. I would keep the new one because its compact, I'm starting to have a storage problem lol
Great review.
Dirk Diggler thanks bro
cool tool bro.thx
I bought one DEWALT DCS387B (same as model in the video) but I found that while the Dewalt WOOD blades, which are thicker than the BI-METAL blades, FIT perfectly into the slots in either VERTICAL or HORIZONTAL positions; however, the Bi-METAL blades are TOO LOOSE in vertical positions even thought they fit good in horizontal positions. I found that the VERTICAL slot is WIDER than the HORIZONTAL slots so the Bi Metal blades (thinner blades) don't fit good in there. Looks like nothing holding them in place. They are too loose. Does anyone know why? Or how to fix it? When the Bi METAL blade is loose in vertical positions, it make really hard to cut anything without a mess.
Nice review and very informative.
Mike L. thanks Mike L
Great video bro. do you know if Milwaukee has a similar sawzall with the 4 position setup for blades? I got a lot of Milwaukee tools and yellow won't go well with them. 😅
I don't know of any Milwaukee sawzall with that feature. Sorry

Compared to flexvolt, how does this compare?
this saw is great for cutting anything, just picked one up, I trim my trees , cut abs, cut wood, conduit , all kinds of shit
"Hello, do you know if i can use this tool with a 6.0ah flexvolt dcb606 batteries, thanks"
don't see why not, the flexvolt batteries are compatible with Dewalt 20V tools
ill be getting one just for the case lol
frank921rivera awesome!
I had that tool in my hand today when I was in the store. how are the vibrations ?
Alex Augusta the vibrations are noticeable and you can feel it on the workpiece and your arms
Its a really great tool. I just love the bosch recip saw with vibration control
orale
THEY NOW HAVE A NEW BRUSHLESS MODEL NOW CK IT OUT.
vibrates like crazy! 😞
Wow I'm surprised they still make this tool. I made this video 10 years ago.
