Yeah, If there is two things I don't like about certain Iceberg videos. Its not using images/footage associated with the topic or someone talking while holding a mic with no things shown on screen. For the latter, I absolutely cannot stand seeing someone talk with that hokey current trend of people holding mics. It makes you look stupid looking. Like I don't want to see you. I want to see the stuff you're talking about.
To add to the Soul Calubir shared universe is Heihachi in PS2 SC2. Easily dismissable as just a guest character, but if you go to his character profile, they lore'd it as Heihachi took a bath in a mystical hotspring that transported him to 16th Century Japan. So at least it's explained... plenty headcanon for me. ...pretty cool that the Devil Gene and Soul Edge's corruption are essentially the same power.
Honestly the slander to ttt2 saddens me, that's my fav tekken, is so lovely to have every possible character, all of them actually having endings, from serious to downright humorous I. Loved everything and I hope namco doesn't feel discouraged to make a ttt3

22:07 Slight correction: It's Daisuke Gori, who was Heihachi's voice actor from Tekken 3 to 6, who passed away in 2010. Daisuke Ono is a completely different voice actor (and is still alive).
"dragunov can talk" YES LMAO, i thought nobody talks about this, its confirmed that he CAN talk but chooses not to its also kinda referenced that he likes trains wich is always funny to me, it makes sense and i headcanon him having miniatur trains or tanks in his home, i mean he has a special item like this in the current game!
I believe it’s stated that dragunov doesn’t talk because his hobby is singing, which is why he hums a lot, and wants to rest his vocal chords so he can sing efficiently.
Gonna suggest some more stuff for the iceberg. I was actually gonna make my own iceberg lol. Apoligies if i'm repeating info. Dean Earwicker is also an npc in tekken 4's force mode. Theres a screenshot of an early beta outfit for jin in tekken 3 arcade where he's wearing a training outfit. Tekken 3 had an orchestral calendar where they had images of characters in an orchestra. Its pretty cool. In an old developer video for tekken 2 theres some artwork that has never been seen. Tekken 2 had a weird port to the obscure console called the Zeebo, it had sort of updated graphics and used tekken 5 sound effects such as the announcer. Theres a picture of michael jackson playing tekken 1 in the arcade. Im pretty sure lee's car in tekken tag tournament 1's opening is the Honda S2000 Theres also a different tag 1 arcade opening depending on the region where paul is replaced by lee. Tag 1 had physical trading cards at some point, apparently they're rare. TGS99 showcased a tech demo of tekken tag tournament which looks neat. Theres a red hot chili peppers easter egg in tekken 4 force mode where each npc shares a name with each member of the band. Theres a glitch in the japanese version of tekken 4 where the arena stage can have no walls. The track quadra was originally an unused song from ridge racer. Marduk had a different voice in the japanese version of tekken 4 In the beta versions of tekken 4 kazuya had jins 1+2 from the final game and law had green and purple pants. Hwoarang was voiced in japanese at some point during tekken 4's development. There was a really crappy youtube video of azazel supposedly being in tag 2 lol. Tag 2 was referenced in the anime Accel World. There was a series of instructional VHS and laserdisc videos in japan for tekken 1, 2 and 3 teaching the viewer how to play the games. The early title for tekken 1 "rave war" is referenced in ridge racer on a car. Theres a yoshimitsu easter egg in ridge racer type 4 where he's a decal that can be selected. In tekken 2 and tag tournament its possible to hear juns laugh with a glitch Kazuya's voice actor in tekken 1 to tekken tag tournament is the current voice actor for sol badguy from guilty gear.
I also wanna add some common knowlegde like in T1 only heihachi could move in 3d, he has runaway move. In T2 he was added with Kaz's misstep (random input forward). That two most known 3d moves before T3.
The more I think about the "Secret Korean Tekken Thing" the more it seems plausible. Tekken Tag was an update kit (or "chip") to Tekken 3 originally. Arcade tests are definitely a thing. It seems to be some truth mixed with a lot of lies to keep it interesting.
That game was so fuckin cool back then. Still don’t know how certain things worked (like if maybe the bots had exclusive chains or not) but it was fantastic
@@ZephyrusBlue Ehrgeiz has a lot of just-frames and what moves you can do are effected by your positioning. It's a very fast and technical game that does nothing to teach you how to play it.
@@Hoarseplay I just remember that as a kid, GameFaqs only really helped with that dungeon crawler mode. That game was so cool lol. It’s crazy to think it became a thing with all these different types of games going on within it
@Dr.Sir Bruce Armstrong Mother Fucker The Third I was never fond of Power Stone outside of its character and world design, so I don't have much frame of reference for how it plays. Urban Reign is the complete opposite, I love playing the game but think it has the worst character design to come out of any Namco game (but I still want Brad Hawk in Tekken). I don't think its a fair comparison because Urban Reign controls more like a wrestling game, which makes sense because it was designed with 4-player brawls in mind. Intricate movelists like that don't wok in those types of games because spatial awareness is even more important when up to 3 people can gang up on you. You rely on quick, heavy damage or i-frame abuse from throws. Other games have tried to have 4-player brawls with the intricate 1v1 movelists, but they never end up working. Nothing else on the market plays like Ehrgeiz before or since. It's like a middle ground between the standard 1v1 fighter and arena brawlers at the time like Power Stone. I can't in good faith say that the game is good, but its certainly fascinating if you have an interest in odd and/or old fighting games.
Hi, this video is well researched and made but I have to see that the lack of relevant visuals is so distracting. The ongoing tournament fights made it hard for me to focus on the speech.
I've got one no one has noticed and I've actually found this easter egg myself! Tekken Tag tournament 2 features a inverted picture of Obama! On the Ballon parade stage in tag 2 on a billboard hidden is a inverted pic of Obama from his rolling stones cover. Also aliens can be spotted in the canyon stage on tag 2. If you wall break to the Lowe level and hit your enemy against the rocks you will see some Aliens escape from the level! This could be a call back to Paul's Tekken 5 ending where he challenges Aliens coming to earth.
Some other cases of music sampling in Tekken: Angkor Wat (T1) / Ancient Temple [Kunimitsu's Theme] (T2): X-101 - "Rave New World" Jaz Coleman and Anne Dudley - " Force and Fire" Chicago (T1) / It Makes Me Higher [Lee Chaolan's Theme] (T2): Jonny L - "Ooh I Like It (Original Sin)" Prince - "Loose!" King George Island (T1) / Almost Frozen [Anna Williams' Theme] (T2): Charlie Smalls and Quincy Jones - "Emerald City (Green, Red and Gold)" (from the movie "The Wiz")
I can add that Crystal Clear by The Grid sounds pretty similar to Quiet Interim Report from Tekken 2. The Kyoto/Ganryu theme also has a case of music sampling, with it sampling from Orbital's "Lush 3-1" and Cubic 22's "Night in Motion - Original Mix".
One thing to add to the iceberg. Lili also cameo'd in a Queen's Blade game, "Queen's Gate: Spiral Chaos", as well as other fighting game characters from DOA,SC,KOF,etc.
I was there in person for Evo when they did that with Snake - you should probably not play a hoax like that at an event where people are also expecting big announcements to their favorite games.
Oh my God, this is some TOP TIER Tekken content! Maaaan, this is really making me wish you would make theory videos on Tekken's Timeline, the story and its characters' narratives T-T. No one's more qualified than you, that's for sure! I can't believe there are hardly any videos on YT discussing story, characters, or theories! Tekken's story and Characters are so well put together and interesting, not to mention the fact that the narrative is structured like a puzzle we need to put together and that we don't even have all the answers to, that's so exciting and unique!
I always loved the Tekken and Soul Calibur shared universe theory, honestly one of my personal favorite gaming theories of all time, so I am glad to see it sort of touched on with Yoshimitsu though I have a theory that maybe Soul Edge or just the power of Soul Edge is connected to things like the Devil or the mysterious evil power that revived Jinpachi which is implied to be connected to the Devil anyways, kind of like the Malfested characters all having a connection to Soul Edge. Considering that both do gain power from bloodshed and destruction, I think there is at least something there. Then we have Azazel, who I think came from the Astral Chaos, which Soul Edge and Calibur also came from since Azazel in T6 stated he is from a higher plan of existence which I think can be the Astral Chaos, Which I think make sense since Night terror, who is said to be the personification of the Astral Chaos itself, and considering it shares moves from the devils from Tekken, I think they have some kind of connection. There is even the orb that comes out of Azazel, which is said to be the main source of the Devil, I think is potentially some fragment of Soul Edge, considering that it would have a similar effect to Yoshimitsu's sword in both series. Even Orge, although not a devil, I think has some sort of connection to the Astral Chaos since. Yea, it is stated he is an alien but I don't think they mean as an alien from outer space but from another dimension or plan of existence, and he has some traits of what can be considered "Malfested" or something similar but really, it is very unknown since we know very little about Ogre himself so maybe all this can fill in the gaps. In the end, I am thinking that the Devil is probably an extension to the Soul Edge's energy, or maybe a modern equivalent. I don't know, all of this can probably be not true or even debunked but I can talk about this stuff or hours honestly. Also, that Rage Mishima entry of the Iceberg really brew my mind. I was pretty skeptical at first but then I started to realize, "wait, that kind of sounds like Tekken Tag 1 minus the Rage part" and the scar under Kazuya's eye which first came in T4, which is either the most luckiest prediction I have ever heard or maybe they actually know more then we do.
The description for this "Rage Mishima" fits Jin a lot actually. Think about it, he's described as having many of Kazuya's moves, including "the sweeps" which I assume it to be Kazuya's uf+4,4,4,4, but it's also said that he has a lot of unique moves. That description basically fits the T3/TTT1 version of Jin to a tee. Only the visual description of him seems somewhat different. Maybe he was either an early version of Jin, or a derived concept character based off Jin, or maybe even both.
That's because she had different rage art in arcade vanilla version, where lipsync actually matched animations, and then it was replaced possibly due to the fact that it was just a copy of Xiba's critical edge from SoulCalibur V
I wonder if mods can fix the LoD issues in T7. It's so weird how muddy some characters look in that game. Asuka and Kazuya in particular don't look right to me.
Raphael (Soul Calibur) who is rumored to be a vampire, is of the same family lineage as LiLi. Which is why she thinks Eliza, also a vampire, is her "sister".
First of all, I just want to say you did an excellent job with this video! As a Tekken fan, it's always great to look at these kinds of facts and rumors. Out of all that were discussed in this video, Rage Mishima was definitely the one I found it most interesting. For the record, I've actually seen this name popped up on some of the old Tekken 3 guides I found at the Internet. The fact you went deeper into such topic is just amazing, really interesting stuff. Appreciate your efforts, keep up the good work! With that out of the way, figured I leave out some additional tidbits/corrections on some of the covered topics while we're at it... *Young Heihachi in Tekken 3DS* - The name of Heihachi's VA from Tekken 3 up until Tekken 6 is *NOT* Daisuke Ono, rather, it is Daisuke Gori. *Wooden SFX* - This Mokujin secret also works on Tekken 3 and Tag 1 (in the case of Tetsujin, he will make metallic noises). It's even applicable to Combot in Tekken 4! *Jinpachi & Kinjin in Tekken 4* - Jinpachi's name goes a long way back, he is actually mentioned in the first game's Japanese manual/guide, which you can check it out here: diary.ru/~tekkenseries/p190997550_profajly-iz-tekken-1-raritet.htm#more1 - Additionally, in Wang's Tekken 2 ending, the gravestone he visits has Jinpachi's name written on it (in kanji). So yeah, it seems they already had plans for such character right from the very start; they weren't just so sure on how can they properly/fully integrate him in the roster (the same thing can be said for Kazumi, whose name shows up in Heihachi's Tekken 2 stage) - As for Kinjin, interestingly enough, his name does show up in Tekken Tag 1 (arcade version)'s graphic data, likely intended for the golden Tetsujin variant! You can see it here: static.wikia.nocookie.net/tekken/images/e/ec/KinjinUnknwonTiger.png/revision/latest?cb=20130725133134&path-prefix=en *Robert Miles & East 17* - In regards to the guitar riff found in East 17's song (Steam) and Lei Wulong's Tekken 3 theme, it is actually taken from a sample library called "Funk Guitar" by ZERO-G. There's a bunch of other games that make use of this exact guitar riff sample, Capcom VS SNK 2's Osaka theme being a good example. You can check out the whole video demo here (there's a comment that lists timestamps of guitar riff samples used in several Tekken 3 tracks!): ua-cam.com/video/icMrxLGNj-w/v-deo.html - This forum thread right here documents a lot of sample libraries used in different games, Tekken 3 being one of them. Might be worth checking out: vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11231 That’s all. Thanks for reading!
The Heihachi VA was just a slip of the tongue by me! Everything else you sent is awesome, I had no idea Jinpachi was established that far back and that the Wooden SFX secret worked in the earlier games! I had no idea about the samples but it makes sense that a lot of samples are used in all the OSTs. Thanks a lot for all of this :D
I'm very late but i wanted to add something about tekken 3d, for some reason heihachi features the tag 2 moveset while everyone else in the game has the tekken 6 moveset
The Rage Mishima stuff was very interesting as well as them predicting stuff in SK like Kazuya’s scar. I wouldn’t be surprised if everything they said was real judging by how big the Tekken scene is there
That whole Rage Mishima thing is probably a prank made up by the guys brother. Back in those days people loved to make stuff up just to screw with their friends and relatives.
Golden Azazel actually has exactly the same stats as regular Azazel, the wiki lies outright about this. I have modded Tekken 6 in the past and played as both - they are the same. You can also find this out by letting both kill you and checking their damage outputs.
@@athleteexpert283 tl:dr No and no, because it could launch after the animation of the move is over. no. the problem is, that it this tchnique only works, If you press 2 at the last frame. If they fix that, the launching window of WGF/EWGF is longer than the animation of it, so it would launch, in actual recover state and that would literally be broken.
57:05 That stage looks like part of the Tekken 3 intro. The very start of the intro where you see some guy slam into a chain link fence (KO'd by Paul) The elements of that environment all looks very similar to that demo stage. Including the crowd, fence and a bridge with a train going over it.
Lili isn't exactly on the main story of the Digimon game. There's this battle tower with different levels where you challenge different people and you encounter her and Sebastian in different floors, till they both have mega digimons
Two more examples of other music sampled in Tekken soundtracks: - Tekken 5 "Streets" seems to sample the Half-Life 1 credits theme - Tekken Revolution Moonlit Wilderness theme samples the song "Secrets" by Cahb Anyway, really interesting video! As another lifelong Tekken fan, I love watching content like this.
24:30 Funny you bring this up because Yoshimitsu's Tekken story arc seems to be setting him up to eventually become a new nightmare. His sword is showing some of the same characteristics Soul Edge has shown.
Bro those post from 97 forum was superb stuff. Need more of that, super interesting. Also i remember seeing betta pics of tekken tag 1 where Paul had his hair down ala T4
Bye I forgot Jin and Christie had a thing in The movie😭😭😭. I remember seeing it the first time as a kid and thought it just felt so wrong and out of place, also not to mention Jin had another girlfriend in that movie as well
Great video! The idea of a Mishima literally named Rage (not even a Japanese word for it, just straight up Rage) is funny to me for some reason. Some items that I think you should have mentioned: Paul’s Puzzle. I found this on the Wayback Machine while looking at the Tekken site from the time of 3. It was some sort of contest or something I think? Tekken 3 is slower in PAL Gon licensing issues preventing a rerelease Devil based on his Blood Vengeance appearance is a playable character in the TTT2 demo, but the final only has a Kazuya transformation. Heihachi was planned for Smash 4, but Sakurai couldn’t figure out how to translate him to Smash. He eventually went with Kazuya because the Devil Gene gave him more fitting gameplay. Cardboard Tube Samurai. A skin of Yoshimitsu as this Penny Arcade character was a preorder bonus for Tekken 6. Ogre is holding Jun’s severed head in the Tekken 3 intro. Yoshimitsu’s flash in Tekken 4 lets him replicate his opponent’s last used move, kind of like Kirby or XvSF Rogue. Heihachi was only added to Soul Calibur II because Namco couldn’t get the rights to add Cloud for the PS2 version. There is an unfinished character hidden in Virtua Fighter who bears a strong resemblance to prototype Jack. Since the devs of Tekken 1 worked on that game first, perhaps they were reviving unused ideas with the first game. Speaking of, Tekken ripped off Virtua Fighter. I’m not insulting the series, I’m just saying that whenever VF added sidestepping, variable terrain, or customization, Tekken was right behind them. Marduk is Gigas. Obviously untrue, but it was a popular theory before Marduk came to 7. Devil Jin in SCV as a custom character moveset. If I remember MainManSWE’s video, they even kept a glitch combo Jin had in 3. The Image comic that lasted one issue. King is based on the manga wrestler Tiger Mask as well as a real luchador, Fray Tormenta, who was also the inspiration for Nacho Libre. Devil Gene retcon. Originally Kazuya made a deal with the Devil, then it was retconned. Kazuya is a sneakerhead, according to the Tekken 1 manual. Rave War was originally announced to receive both a PS1 and PC port after the arcade version. Harada hates old women. There’s like ten old dudes in this series, but the women in the first two games were either frozen, killed, or retired before the time skip because apparently women in fighting games aren’t allowed to not be supermodels. I wanna see MILFchelle Chang dammit!
I can’t edit on mobile so I’ll add this before I forget: Trans Kunimitsu. I doubt it’s canon, but Kunimitsu in Tekken 1 is referred to as male in her bio, as well as sporting a masculine build and reusing Yoshi’s voice clips. Godhand Mishima is a character from the Squaresoft fighting game Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring. Since the game was distributed by Namco in arcades, they made him a Mishima.
@Nostalgic Person I don't think it's just a Japanese thing, either. How many elderly women do you see in Western games? Kreia in KotOR II, I guess? People are going to look at this comment and call me a SJW or whatever, but I just want to see variation here and there.
There are two things I’d add to this, though they’re decently well-known in the community: 1. Gon the dinosaur is a licensed character from a manga (he never returned due to licensing issues). 2. Marduk is implied to be a rapist in his Tekken 5 story fight with Anna. Whether or not this is canon is unclear.
lmao thank you for handling Leo so well, i was kinda dreading them coming up when i saw them on the chart but you dealt with the subject really well. great video over all, lot of stuff i never knew about!
One extra little thing I noticed from Tekken. In Tekken 4 and Tekken 5’s intro sequence Steve Fox is shown fighting in both a left handed and right handed stance in Tekken 4, while in Tekken 5 he is shown fighting in a left handed stance.
22:08 small correction, Daisuke Ono is not Heihachi's Tekken 6 voice actor, the actor that passed away was Unshō Ishizuka (R.I.P) and the possible reason why you could have mixed them up is because they are both main voice actors for the anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure where Daisuke Ono plays the main lead (Jotaro Kujo) and Unshō Ishizuka plays one of the main leads (Joseph Joestar/Jotaro's grandfather)
Addition, Daisuke Gori is the third voice actor for Heihachi from Tekken 3 all the way to Tekken 6 before he died ( I read that Daisuke Gori died from taking his own life due to his health complications.)
Shirdel: It's time to get CREEPY. Video: Bootlegs and guest appearances. although to be fair i'd be scared to play Heihachi in any physical capacity, including tennis.
Kinjin in T4 isn't that surprising, here is why. Mokujin - wooden man, tetsujin - iron man, kinjin - golden man. You mentioned golden tetusjin in Tag 1 (who is kinjin basically), but they remade him for Revolution to actually stand out from regular metal silver man.
This is EXACTLY what I wanted, I was begging for a good Tekken iceberg for ages! I didn't know SO MUCH, even at the very top. Goes to show how much u have to dig to find all the information. Now I wait for a miracle that is Soul Calibur iceberg, hopefully someone will make it one day.
Honestly just the name Rage Mishima screams “made-up hoax character” Source: I used to make shit up all the time at the playground when I was a kid and that’s totally the kind of name I’d come up with
I think Harada himself posted that on his Twitter around the Tag 2 times. I actually only just now noticed that Heihachi had Ryu's fighting stance and Nina used Chun-Li's fighting stance in that clip. I've seen the clip while it was originally posted but never noticed this detail.
The "Fight 222 to Amsterdam" can also be heard in either Ridge Racers and Ridge Racers 2 on the PSP, NAMCO racing game franchise that came before Tekken. This can be heard if you entered in "World Tour" mode as you will be greeted with an airport silhouette.
Quick correction: Heihachi's second actor (and first to pass away) was Daisuke Gouri, not Daisuke Ono, who is thankfully very much alive and well, and also has never voiced in the Tekken series. Edit: Another one: Leo can equip female items in 7 as well. Notably the female Kung Fu top and the head items, such as the cat ears and tiaras. Also it's really cool that the most recent patch notes have gone the they/them route! 2nd edit: Sorry for one more! Just wanted to say this was a really fun ride going through some old, fun easter eggs. About the only one I'm shocked didn't make the list was Lili's and later Lars' Danver SUV in 6 tying the series to the Ridge Racer universe. Always loved the idea of a Namco Extended Universe, so that's always been a favorite. Anyways, would love to see more stuff like this in the future!
"A shame that Lee didn't have a special animation" He just puts his glasses on without leaving the screen...*thinks about using it as a win taunt* EXCELLENT!
I am a tiny little bit late but At 45:55 with leos gender in german It's not directly translated to lucky boy in german there is a thing called generic masculinum it refers to everybody even though the male version of the word is used for example student means Schüler but female student means Schülerin and to avoid complications and so on you use the generic masculinum to refer to all people
2:00 This is my ringtone for texts and such and I kept getting confused 🤣🤣. Imagine getting mixed up watching a fighting game video and not actually playing it lmao.
I think Rage Mishima and the characters mentioned that were cut in T3 prove that the tekken franchise until T5 had some story issues or time restraints. What if King's t3 p2 costume was actually AK's first design? What if Jin was made because Kazuya and Jun wouldn't fit into T3's story and so they decided to take their moves and fuse them into Jin's? What if Ogre sharss moves with many characters because they were scrapped? T3 sure has an interesting mistery surronding it's making.
I always heard Tekken 5's Poolside having two samples/ inspirations mixed in, one being Robert Miles children (fun fact this was also sampled for an xfiles remix by dado) and Alice Dj's Back in My Life! specifically the break in her song is used as the main tempo in Poolside.
Awesome video man! I had a magazine that had the tech demo stuff with Jin and Paul. Basically it had Paul P2 costume, Jin P1 costume, and the stage was the same as Paul's stage from the intro in Tekken 3
Wait a second, Rage Mishima? Huh, it reminds me of the Super Best Friends character, Rage of Africa. *He was always there, the Rage was always watching* :V - V.D.
5:55 "to help infiltrate a criminal organization called..." (Twitch logo appears on screen) Ngl I actually thought that was what it was called for a sec
I still remember printing Gamefaqs of Tekken moves. What you refer to as Triangle, Circle, X and Square, I still call 1, 2,3, and 4 because that's how the faq was written
one thing you have missed is the hidden grappler trick by king that takes all the life .. the octopus grap ... it was just in tekken 2 not in other tekken...
Nice video! I would like to specifiy about Akuma's jumping. Akuma's jumping only crushes lows at a certain frame of his jumping, I believe it was on the 5th frame. "3D" characters have the same thing but 2(?) frames later. His jumping and demonflip does not crush mids. His jumping evades mids and certain highs so it all comes down to the shape & size of the hitbox and timing. This is why he is able to jump over jabs in certain scenarios because characters have different jab hitboxes (height is also a factor). This is also why he can't jump over certain mids, because the hitbox for the mid is either really big or really high. So he does crush lows but he does not crush mids. Hopkicks are also pretty similar, they beat out lows at a certain frame of their animation and, depending on the character, can evade highs due to the character ducking really low but this will also depend on the hitbox size of the high.
I can confirm that I saw Tiger off-screen. It happened when I saw a kid (I think around 1998,1999 or 2000) started playing Tekken 3 on arcade machine, then he went off-screen and Tiger was there. His portrait's bg color was yellow and his portrait was facing straight (like True Ogre's).
Rage Mishima sounds so oddly specific and very Post-Tekken 4-like, I wouldn’t doubt it was ever a thing in some developer’s custom ISO/MAME hack of Tekken 3. It’s most likely 100% fake, but it’s just so incredibly specific…you can’t help but to think Namco added some “special features” to their Location Test versions of the game. Especially since Tekken 4 was 3-4 years away, the description sounds like a variation of the then dead Kazuya but with embellishments on the leaker’s part. On a side-note, it’s extremely frustrating that Tekken x Street Fighter NEVER HAPPENED or might not ever happen by not. SF6 is proving that something like it IS POSSIBLE AND EVEN LIKELY TO BE A CROWD FAVORITE due to the compromise between hyper realistic characters and the “Capcom House Style” for their SF games making an interesting visual style. Imagine how TxSF would look if they try and make something very similar with the graphics style 🤔 They keep hinting at it “happening eventually”, so I won’t give out hope just yet. Crazier things have happened…like The Flash finally coming out last month (after 10+ years of hinting and development hell) and Skull & Bones (Assassin’s Creed 4 “gameplay spin-off”) finally coming out soon after 10 years…
They had ton of problems balancing just 1 SF character into Tekken 7 which still is top tier after tons of nerfs, imagine something like 20 SF characters.
would've been much better if you included a lot more of pictures or video whenever you went through the points, that felt lacking and the unrelated background gameplay was very distracting, that aside nice video
Man, that Rage stuff is just so much bollocks, I mean the name itself isn't really creative and that friend at Korea with unique arcade cabinet - I don't buy it at all, but internet at that time was so mysterious and with harder time finding evidence about facts in general - makes those rumors charming, reminds me of school time with how classmates came up with similar stupid stuff.
On the topic of crushing: There's only high and low crushing in Tekken. This makes you completely invincible to highs or lows respectively during the crush frames. There's no such thing as mid crushing, but some evasive moves can _evade_ mids. This is not the same as being invincible to mids, as it's just a matter of hurtboxes avoiding hitboxes. Mids that have a beefier or lower hitbox can still hit evasive stances or moves.

In tekken 2 and tag tournament its possible to hear juns laugh with a glitch
Kazuya's voice actor in tekken 1 to tekken tag tournament is the current voice actor for sol badguy from guilty gear.
I also wanna add some common knowlegde like in T1 only heihachi could move in 3d, he has runaway move. In T2 he was added with Kaz's misstep (random input forward). That two most known 3d moves before T3.
Also, I dunno if its just coincidence, but in early DDR games on ps1 there is one character that looks way similiar to Tiger Jackson.
i have another one
dragunov likes trains LMAO, that was referenced in that train level in the scenario mode
also i heard there was a controversy with that artbook for TTT2 because not all characters are in there
Raven is Blade the vampire hunter
The more I think about the "Secret Korean Tekken Thing" the more it seems plausible. Tekken Tag was an update kit (or "chip") to Tekken 3 originally. Arcade tests are definitely a thing. It seems to be some truth mixed with a lot of lies to keep it interesting.
Slightly disappointed that Ken 'Godhand' Mishima from Ehrgeiz isn't referenced on this iceberg because I think that's a neat bit of trivia.
That game was so fuckin cool back then. Still don’t know how certain things worked (like if maybe the bots had exclusive chains or not) but it was fantastic

@Dr.Sir Bruce Armstrong Mother Fucker The Third
I was never fond of Power Stone outside of its character and world design, so I don't have much frame of reference for how it plays.
Wow didn’t notice Obama before.
There’s also a vampire in the Chinese festival level
Some other cases of music sampling in Tekken:
Angkor Wat (T1) / Ancient Temple [Kunimitsu's Theme] (T2):
X-101 - "Rave New World"
Jaz Coleman and Anne Dudley - " Force and Fire"
Chicago (T1) / It Makes Me Higher [Lee Chaolan's Theme] (T2):
Jonny L - "Ooh I Like It (Original Sin)"
Prince - "Loose!"
King George Island (T1) / Almost Frozen [Anna Williams' Theme] (T2):
Charlie Smalls and Quincy Jones - "Emerald City (Green, Red and Gold)" (from the movie "The Wiz")

I actually had a theory that Azazel is the byproduct of the destruction between souledge and calibur.
@@Leadblast not sure how I didn’t make that connection either

"Why haven't Namco fixed the LOD?" Same reason Josie's mouth still doesn't move when she talks during her Rage Art
glad I'm not the only one bothered by that
That's because she had different rage art in arcade vanilla version, where lipsync actually matched animations, and then it was replaced possibly due to the fact that it was just a copy of Xiba's critical edge from SoulCalibur V
They fixed it for season 2 but an update that happened shortly after removed it again lol

*Young Heihachi in Tekken 3DS*
- The name of Heihachi's VA from Tekken 3 up until Tekken 6 is *NOT* Daisuke Ono, rather, it is Daisuke Gori.
*Wooden SFX*
- This Mokujin secret also works on Tekken 3 and Tag 1 (in the case of Tetsujin, he will make metallic noises). It's even applicable to Combot in Tekken 4!
*Jinpachi & Kinjin in Tekken 4*
- Jinpachi's name goes a long way back, he is actually mentioned in the first game's Japanese manual/guide, which you can check it out here: diary.ru/~tekkenseries/p190997550_profajly-iz-tekken-1-raritet.htm#more1
- Additionally, in Wang's Tekken 2 ending, the gravestone he visits has Jinpachi's name written on it (in kanji). So yeah, it seems they already had plans for such character right from the very start; they weren't just so sure on how can they properly/fully integrate him in the roster (the same thing can be said for Kazumi, whose name shows up in Heihachi's Tekken 2 stage)
- As for Kinjin, interestingly enough, his name does show up in Tekken Tag 1 (arcade version)'s graphic data, likely intended for the golden Tetsujin variant! You can see it here: static.wikia.nocookie.net/tekken/images/e/ec/KinjinUnknwonTiger.png/revision/latest?cb=20130725133134&path-prefix=en
*Robert Miles & East 17*
- In regards to the guitar riff found in East 17's song (Steam) and Lei Wulong's Tekken 3 theme, it is actually taken from a sample library called "Funk Guitar" by ZERO-G. There's a bunch of other games that make use of this exact guitar riff sample, Capcom VS SNK 2's Osaka theme being a good example. You can check out the whole video demo here (there's a comment that lists timestamps of guitar riff samples used in several Tekken 3 tracks!): ua-cam.com/video/icMrxLGNj-w/v-deo.html
- This forum thread right here documents a lot of sample libraries used in different games, Tekken 3 being one of them. Might be worth checking out: vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11231
That’s all.

Kazuya's arcade in Tekken 5 also suggests he understands English just fine.
I mean, everybody in Tekken understands a forgein language for no reason.
Nah everybody just understands each other and I like that wierd charm

Golden Azazel actually has exactly the same stats as regular Azazel, the wiki lies outright about this. I have modded Tekken 6 in the past and played as both - they are the same. You can also find this out by letting both kill you and checking their damage outputs.

- Tekken Revolution Moonlit Wilderness theme samples the song "Secrets" by Cahb

Bye I forgot Jin and Christie had a thing in The movie😭😭😭. I remember seeing it the first time as a kid and thought it just felt so wrong and out of place, also not to mention Jin had another girlfriend in that movie as well
Great video! The idea of a Mishima literally named Rage (not even a Japanese word for it, just straight up Rage) is funny to me for some reason. Some items that I think you should have mentioned:
Paul’s Puzzle. I found this on the Wayback Machine while looking at the Tekken site from the time of 3. It was some sort of contest or something I think?
Tekken 3 is slower in PAL
Gon licensing issues preventing a rerelease
Devil based on his Blood Vengeance appearance is a playable character in the TTT2 demo, but the final only has a Kazuya transformation.
There are two things I’d add to this, though they’re decently well-known in the community:
The Rage Mishima thing is fuckin crazy lol
Time trial with unlockable seems like a fun challenge. Much more refreshing than EVO. Heck, I suggest EVO should include these type of competition
That Wang intro is pretty common knowledge.

Okay legitimately curious where you got that Tekken x Street Fighter footage as I haven't been able to find that
I think Harada himself posted that on his Twitter around the Tag 2 times. I actually only just now noticed that Heihachi had Ryu's fighting stance and Nina used Chun-Li's fighting stance in that clip. I've seen the clip while it was originally posted but never noticed this detail.
I believe you mean Daisuke Gori, he was Heihachi’s VA. Daisuke Ono is a completely separate guy who is very much alive.
would have appreciated this video more if you just show the pics or small clips of what you were sharing rather than showing that background stream.
I’ve been waiting for this. The first tekken iceberg!
watching this makes me realise how much i’d love to see a Tekken Lost Media video.
About the only one I'm shocked didn't make the list was Lili's and later Lars' Danver SUV in 6 tying the series to the Ridge Racer universe. when I saw "Wang is a pervert" I honestly first thought of his P3 costume in Tekken 6 which closely resembled Master Roshi from DBZ
Rage might've became Jinpachi like I saw someone else say, but it's also possible that Rage became Lars.
God im in love with that last one. It's everything i need in a rumor
I always heard Tekken 5's Poolside having two samples/ inspirations mixed in, one being Robert Miles children (fun fact this was also sampled for an xfiles remix by dado) and Alice Dj's Back in My Life! specifically the break in her song is used as the main tempo in Poolside.
Robert miles is apparently a big inspiration for fighting game osts because snk was also inspired by children when making Rock Howard’s theme.

I still remember printing Gamefaqs of Tekken moves. What you refer to as Triangle, Circle, X and Square, I still call 1, 2,3, and 4 because that's how the faq was written
It’s always 1234
"How deep does it go?" there are no words honestly to describe how much lore there is that you just don't even expect
one thing you have missed is the hidden grappler trick by king that takes all the life .. the octopus grap ... it was just in tekken 2 not in other tekken...
I remember downloading combo videos from the Tekken FTP. Haven't thought about that in ages.
One fact in and we’ve already crossed off the “watch this cool thing about it” trope
As far as I remember , the realistic Jin render for T6 and jin vs Lili trailer were from totally different events
Hopkicks are also pretty similar, they beat out lows at a certain frame of
their animation and, depending on the character, can evade highs due to the character ducking really low but this will also depend on the hitbox size of the high.
I need a mix of the background music as a sole hour long mix. It's fantastic 👍
I really need to see that video you have shown about the Tekken X Street Fighter game.
He has a portrait in the character select?
@@Gazzoosethe1 He had, when I saw that happening in that year.
@Szemigi thing is i selected him via mame cheats some time ago but he has no portrait, like he has a blank one and the default eddy P2 model
Whoever made this iceberg forgot about Souq Madiq
My mom mained him when I was a kid. First game to get me into PlayStation.
Got ya self a new sub bro
Kazuya's eyes in tekken 2 is the creepiest thing ever
not as creepy as kuma's portrait
Imagine how TxSF would look if they try and make something very similar with the graphics style 🤔
They keep hinting at it “happening eventually”, so I won’t give out hope just yet.
Also you could've mentioned well known mistake in TTT1 eu manual where they mismashed kaz and jin pictures.
I have it! I can provide photo proof if needed.
@@ultralowspekken yeah, i do too
Definitely makes me think rage Mishima is Jinpachi. I mean, he's angry and has Michigan techniques.
Mishima from Michigan 🥶
would've been much better if you included a lot more of pictures or video whenever you went through the points, that felt lacking and the unrelated background gameplay was very distracting, that aside nice video
The only thing survived from Tekken x street fighter is a akum
Tekken x street fighter footage really surprised me I didn’t think there was any gameplay footage
3:38 It looked cool, it matched the 3D style
On the topic of crushing: There's only high and low crushing in Tekken. This makes you completely invincible to highs or lows respectively during the crush frames. There's no such thing as mid crushing, but some evasive moves can _evade_ mids. This is not the same as being invincible to mids, as it's just a matter of hurtboxes avoiding hitboxes. Mids that have a beefier or lower hitbox can still hit evasive stances or moves.
48:00 JInpachi was revealed in original Tekken actually :)
Rage Mishima could also be Devil Jin, which makes his only appearance in T3 Jin's ending.
I cant wait to get an update to this
