    Roy Orbison was part of a group called the Traveling Willburys. The band included Tom Petty, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan. Now that’s a supergroup.

    Thank you Sky for your reaction....Roy Orbison had a killer voice....Even with such personal tragedy he had so much love and peace within his soul that some people referred to him as the preacher such was his gentle soulful voice. "Crying" and "Only the Lonley" are also worth listening to. Can't go wrong with the Big O!

    You got it is a great song. Roy Orbison did a lot more for mainstream than people give him credit for. Back in the sixties as a peer he was credited for his style. Now in a lot of modern rock and metal you can still hear his influence in breakdowns and bridges.

    Hits me in the feels lol. I've always been the sensitive, romantic type. Orbison, Type O, HIM. I'm all about some good love songs, no matter the genre, or time period. Great way to fight the negative vibes. Just remember everyone, love beats hate.

    Wow, I love that someone young like you is grooving on Roy Orbison. Even Elvis said he was jealous of Roy's voice. Thanks for doing this! You should check out the clips from his "Black and White NIght" concert--he had a legendary hall of fame band of musicians backing him up. It was filmed less than a year before he died.

      You are correct. I lived in Memphis and even met Elvis once at his Racquetball Cout on Mendenhall. The only entertainer that Elvis was worried about was Roy Orbison. He knew.

    Roy Orbison - In Dreams. My dad used to listen to oldies while I fell asleep and these songs are so comforting and I love hearing them. Reminds me of the good times I had with him. (Not to mention Roy is just HUGELY talented)

    Hey, Sky! Oooh... a late posting! I'm not sure what's more surprising - that Roy was having a big resurgence (I do like them Traveling Wilburys) in the late 80s, or that he was only 52 when he passed, right after this. Great job, as always! 👋😄👍

    Can you please react to Roy Orbison singing: My Prayer (original is the Platters) & The Actress (originally Orbison). These are less known gems...but you will love them.

    He did a cover of "I drove All Night" which was fire. As for requests I think you might like Midnight Oil a great band and powerhouses live - try "Beds are Burning" which was their biggest hit in America.

    • @LittleMelianna
      @LittleMelianna 2 роки тому

      In fact , he was first, he recorded a demo, but this song was released after his death

    • @alphaomega7191
      @alphaomega7191 2 роки тому

      @@LittleMelianna - You are kind of right - it wasn't a demo it was recorded but shelved. People usually record up to double the number of songs needed for an album and then pare them down for the finished product which is why there are often rarities floating around that can be released when a band ends or artist retires or dies . His version was great but for whatever reason went to the reject pile. Meanwhile Lauper was also recording an album and when Orbison didn't release they offered it to Lauper who not only recorded it but released it as a single which was atop 10 hit. So his wasn't a Demo recording as such - it was a finished vocal (not sure if they ever completed all the musical elements and prodution or just shelved it part way). As for if his is a cover - standard when recording songs by songwriters (not self penned) is first released is original everything after is a cover. The possible exception of "Because the Night" which Springsteen wrote for his album but Patti Smith who was working in the next studio liked it and asked to cover it on her album - she tweaked some lyrics and her version came out first but since he wrote it it's hard to call it a cover as it was in the midst of recording it when she asked to record it.
