Bevan was brilliant. I cant beleive that how quitely went away from the international arena. He ceratinly deserved a better ending to his career. Indeed a master class,
I've never experienced a better moment in cricket than this. It was stunning. Our, Australia's, innings was a shammozzke. Bevan always gave me hope. If he lost his wicket I'd write us off but with Bevo there you knew he'd wirk tge numbers properly and bring us home in a tight finish. He was superb. The Worlds best ODI batsman.
I’m Indian. He was the greatest ever finisher and developed the best run average the game has ever produced in 50 over cricket IMO. The worst part was Bevan was never recognised as the greatest ever in ODI cricket and hence I don’t believe or trust world cricket rankings TBH or ICC or Cricket Australia for what his greatness could have been. It’s really sad that, no one born in the 2000 era even knows why he’s the Don Bradman or Barry Richards of ODI’s! 😢
Dhoni is the greatest finisher but you can say until then he was.
Problem is that almost 90 percent of cricket's audience come from one place and as a result achievements of players from that one region is highlighted more, that's why you people claiming someone who couldn’t chase 25 runs in two overs as a better finisher than someone who was ranked no 1 for over 1200 days straight
Absolute legend!
Best one day batsman I have seen, complete judge of the match situation with multiple batting gears to use, some of the impossible positions he rescued Australia from was just incredible. And good test and state batsman as well, who took wickets with his part time bowling
I was an 11 year old kid who was there sitting in the Bill O'Reilly Stand with my dad to witness that live. Hands down the greatest match I've ever been to.
Original match finisher match winner batsman Micheal bevan sir
02:41 That ‘knowing’ smile of Glenn McGrath’s always amuses me 😅 Great player, phenomenal bowler, someone who tried with the bat and with which he got much better towards the end of his career!!
This is from Cricket The Vintage Performances 2001 VHS/DVD.
I watched it live on TV . Memorable match.
High 5 with Roger Harper was the best gesture
No body can be compared to Bevan his average was more 53 in those bowling suited pitches other good batters had average less than 40.
What a magnificent cricketer he was! Perhaps the best finisher in limited overs cricket ever.
One of the best finisher….
And the big question here, is WHY did we let CHANNEL 7 butcher our home international cricket, GONE are the tri series, or the 15 matches or best of 3 finals
JUST LOOK AT THE CROWDS
LISTEN TO THE CROWDS
GIVE cricket back to chan 9 ,and lets get back to exciting cricket
