Stuart Clarke was a such a underrated bowler, he was such a consistent bowler
He was an excellent bowler. Perhaps too similar to Glenn McGrath for his own good. At times he would not have been selected when McGrath because the selectors wanted more variety.
@@stephenpower8723 Yep. McGrath kept him out of the side and then by the time that McGrath had retired, Clark really only had a couple more years left. If he was five years younger (or ten older), he'd have played 80+ Tests for Australia.
@@stephenpower8723tjgijgtjtijt
@@haydenaustin-eames8084 In the end I feel he was shafted by selectors. At 34 I still think he was easily a better bowler than Ben Hilfenhaus.
So was Kasper. One of the most consistent swingers of the ball imo. Had he played more in the 2005 Ashes series we would have won imo.
I shouldn't be sad seeing Warnie and Roy together because they brought so much joy, but I am.
I feel you
Mad feels der
Totally understandable mate. Both left way too soon. Thankfully we have vids like this to remind us of these past champions.
I'm hearing you bro.😢
❤ totally understandable I grew up in Melbourne and was lucky enough going to so many opening day boxing day test matches and have witnesses some great cricket. And when he came back in 04 after his 12 month ban was lucky enough to have a chat with Shane at Junction oval and talk cricket with him. He was such a normal man and gave everyone the time of day.
That Aussie team is packed full of legends. Thanks, I enjoyed that.
So was the SAFA team too. Great contest
I haven't seen or heard of michael kasprowicz in a long, long time... but seeing his bowling action his name came straight back to me. Powerful shoulders
Apparently a gun rugby player in his day.
What a team. loved this Aussie line up
You forget just how good the Australian side was in those days because that's a pretty darn good South African side. Like most, I miss those days.
Hard to believe less than 20 years later and two in that team that are no longer with us, vale Shane and Andrew both amazing cricketing talents.
Shane Warne was and will remain the greatest bowler of all times. Thank you for all the entertainment and magic :) Rest in peace Warnie
Man I miss these days. Man I miss Warnie.
I miss his commentary now, feel ripped off I dont get to hear him for the next 20 years. Such a smart cricket mind to listen to. Some of those ashes matches with him in the box ripping into the poms next to him hahaha
this was a very good batting lineup too
This is why purists love Test Cricket; so much better than circus cricket 🤷🏻♂️
No. of likes you got on this comment conveys the fact that the number of purists are decreasing day by day. It's sad though
@@pranitgandhi6832 the fact that you judge relevance of statements based on the number of likes they get as a youtube comment conveys the fact that the number of grey cells in your brain is reducing day by day. it's sad though.

Magic Warney & boys playing so well & happy
Australian demolition job. I'm an English cricket fan so i know the pain & suffering warne could inflict. With McGrath & the scud missiles from Brett lee it was a formidable bowling attack. Apart from the windies 70s early 80s i cant thimk of a better ome?
Those who focus on borderline decisions, made in the days before reviews, should remember that, in those days, a lot of good appeals were turned down, and that same kind of things happened in most innings.
Yep. Umpiring is hard, and without DRS there will always be dubious decisions in BOTH directions.
I remember in 05 Damian Martyn was given out lbw twice off two of the thickest inside edges you’ll ever see. You’re right… it goes both ways and it all works out in the end.
Yeah, it was a shocker the last one though.
@@galey86 That was hitting. Albeit slightly. DRS would have been umpires call anyways so out.
If you don't play a shot you're not going to get any love from the umpire by the way.
Greatest Of All Time ! The G O A T
I wanted to spend a lot of years listening to Warnie in the commentary booth he was unique and one of kind on and off the field. On the day of his passing I was driving and heard the news on the ABC Radio I actually turned around drove home and spent the next few hours reflecting and trying to gather myself as his death caught us all out .
RIP Shane Keith Warne - The Greatest
Nah, just another sport person, not special except for you fan boys. Hahahahah
THERE IS STILL TIME FOR YOU TO RIDE MY SAUSAGE SATISFACTION IS JUST WAITING FOR YOU @@nunya3251
The G O A T . I grew up watching him bamboozle batsmen with the amazing art of leg spin. A big salute to the legend.
Warne sure was a real goat. What a knob at that.
RIP Warney. Great bowler, and bowled a great maiden over! What a legend!
I dont know if that last wicket was out, but give credit to Warnie for that awesome wrong'un. Ive watched Warne bowl a fair bit over the years and hardly ever saw him bowl these and that was a beauty.
I didn't think it was out either (I thought it was high AND wide), but if you're silly enough to pad up to a wrong 'un, you're tempting fate He had a bat in his hands; shoulda used it.
You're kidding - that would have taken middle and off stumps about thre quarters of the way up. Ntini was playing back, not forward. There is just no way a full length ball from a slow bowler could ever go over the top of the stumps - it's not like a fast bowler bowling back of a length on a hard wicket.
@@kenoliver8913 pause it at 8:18 and its really hard to see if it would hit off stump. No way in the world it would have hit middle stump. If anything it might have nicked off stump, but I think if the batmans played a shot, the Ump wouldn't have given him as there was a lot of doubt in it.
The ump did, he called it (i think correctly) and his opinion was the one that mattered at the time....god its good to see that man bowl....breaks my fuckin heart....
Ummmm with the way the ball is bouncing on that pitch it may have ended up hitting Gilchrist on the chin. The Kallis decision was worse - clearly pitched outside leg stump. Incredible line ups both teams.
I'm an Aussie. We were smashing them and without question would win but that last decision was atrocious.
Facts
So would of won requiring 114 runs to win
It was plumb no shot offered
@@bobdown5520no way. It was going miles over the top
There were a few dodgy ones there
Wow they had some stars in both teams
Holy shit, that delivery to De Villiers is insane! Good luck playing that. Cool to see those two greats playing against each other, im guess they didn't meet many times
Forgot how regularly Warnie would just bowl absolute peaches
When i was a kid everyone wanted to bowl like Lillee . Then Shane Warne changed everything .
I visited India back in the day. The locals would ask me: Where are you from?
Australia.
They simply responded with two words:
Shane Warne.
😂
I was fortunate enough to get coaching with Lillee and Alderman. Was shattered that Warney wasn't there as I bowled left arm leg
Those were two pretty good teams
Terrific bowling by Australian All-rounder bowler Shane Warne. Most remarkable and historical win against South Africa.
Such a shame so many have focused on a few lbw decisions made by highly rated, independent umpires.
What about the quality of the bowling from the entire attack for a full day? What about some of the field placings which led to wickets? And that catch by Clarke to dismiss Boje was outstanding. As a days play between two tough competitive teams, it doesn't get a lot better than that
I agree with you, but when you say highly rated, presumably you’re not speaking of Steve Bucknor! The worst. Umpire. In. History. Bar. None!
@@frankmachin5438 Bucknor certainly made some ordinary calls but I'd have thought Aleem Dar and Joel Wilson were at least as bad. Bucknor didn't have DRS and these blokes did yet still make some howlers
@@BigGordon112it’s an Indian thing. They have a thing against him is all. Buckner was actually a pretty good umpire. There was an Indian guy, Jayaprakash or someone. Single-handedly handed India the 2001 series against Australia. One of the worst to ever umpire.
@@BigGordon112 Aleem Dar redeemed himself to become one of the best umpire of the game. Even the embittered Indians who once burned his effigy will admit this. No one was ever as bad as Steve Bucknor, it was just shocking how this person lasted for so long in the game.
@@gangster125 Its not an Indian thing lol. Steve Bucknor put fear into the hearts of fans from everywhere, His bad decision making didn't discriminate. You must've been watching cricket in a parallel universe where Bucknor was a good umpire
Warner, Best, Gazza, Zidane- true , natural artists; possibly the like of which we’ll never see again
Lots of South African’s whingeing in the comments ignoring the fact that decisions in those days went both ways, denying many that were clearly out and others that were not out, that was how cricket was played for generations, umpires decision.
Just enjoy seeing Shane Warne, a true champion of the game!
South African moaning about everything except Apartheid!
I think everyone who is complaining about some of these decisions, needs to have a quick look at who is the captain of the SA side at this time, and have a bit of a think about how some of these games turned out. You all seem to have a pretty short memory.
Irrelevant. The decision was plainly wrong and nothing else is of concern.
The GOAT. Didn't need to chuck to get wickets.
The true greatest.
The KING
Gee what unbiased commentary.
People talking about poor umpiring decisions costing SA wickets conveniently forget the 5 or 6 absolutely plumb LBWs turned down and the one blatant caught behind given not out in this innings. It always went both ways, but you dont see that on highlights.
It was great watching Warnie. How many times did he bowl Australia to victory?
Not as many as you might think...
Because he was often paired with a decent bowler or two at the other end. You might recognize some of the names:
Colin Miller,
Michael Kasprowicz,
Stuart MacGill,
Jason Gillespie,
Brett Lee,
Glenn McGrath.
The real tragedy is how few people were in the crowd!!!
Warnie was the greatest. RIP.😢😢
what a great era you could just see how much joy that had playing such high level
It would make much more sense to show the entire 5 overs rather than just regulation highlights.
@1:15 "There's gonna be a few questions asked about that" - pretty clearly brushed the glove, bounced up off forearm and was caught. Ask away . . . he's out!
I attended the match and it was so dark that cars outside the stadium had lights on at least 10 overs before Ntini lost his wicket. There was no ways they should have been out there. The tv camera filters make the picture appear far brighter than was the case. It was the sheer aura and authority of that Aussie team, the charisma of Warne, that ensured they were handed victory by the umpires. Around 30 minutes before this ,the umpires only allowed spin with Symonds and Warne bowling and Symonds quietly slipped in several bouncers at 130 plus km off a spinners run up to which the umpires turned a blind eye to. Several of the batsmen complained that they couldn't pick up the line of the ball in the gloom. That's the darkest I've seen cricket played in. Yet they didn't even call for the light meter as was the norm at the time.
The umpires were so intimidated by the Aussies they didn't go for the light metre. Sure, ok, right.
@@davidgraham8299 yes.absolutely. the Batsmen were battling picking up the line and the fielders as well. Clear cheating in my view.
Thankfully they brought reviews in to take the heat out of borderline decisions because there were a few here.
Even then half the time it becomes the umpires call when it was out but gets given not out.
Before DRS there were a dozen borderline decisions in every test match
These highlights only show the doubtful out decisions, no doubtful not outs during the match.
Sure some matches 1 team got the worse end of the stick but in general... Swings and Roundabouts
Poor Warnie, if only he hadn’t taken the magic sauce he’d still be with us. RIP.
Back when Aussies could play cricket. What team we had!!! Not just Warne! _Mind you, as Tony Greig would say, this SA team is pretty dam good, too._
lol 'back when' 🤣
RIP Griegy but geez as a bloke who lived for so long in Australia he was so anti Australia in his commentary.
Probably resented all the floggings he got from the Aussies during his playing days.
He was always anti-Australia whenever they played England or Sth Africa tbh.
@@ray.shoesmith oh worst I’ve ever heard was when Australia was playing Sri Lanka. I swear Aravinda and Arjuna where his love children

There will never be another like Warne.
The more highlights I see the more I realize how important the drs is for fairness of the game ..
South Africa under Graham Smith were such a great opponent for Australia. The battles between those teams were epic.

Two great competitors.
Great combination: Warne and Steve Bucknor
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow - good crowd
That front cover of the your video mate. 11/10
Andrew Symonds, Shane Warne and Tony Greig have all dies since this match.
If Boje was watching the recent test series Australia / POMS (and in particular Mitchell Starcs' catch), he should consider himself very unlucky. As we all now know, that is not out.
AB, Graham Smith, Kallis polished
King of spin made the difference. Rip Warne. #BowledShane
6:46 I'm surprised this wasn't the standard field set for Warney.
a truly bad decision that last decision, and i am australian. It was just abysmal. however, I don't think that decision changed the result of the match. If the last wicket was not that ball then it would have been the one after it or the one after that. Warny just had too much in the arsenal for the likes of specialist batsmen let alone tailenders. Really good match between two great sides. Can only wish to see more of these into the future.
No shot offered.OUT and close enough in line to give it. Terrible decision to not use his bat.
@@peterking7165 Not out is not out mate. That was not out.
@@billwhite9703 It was OUT. No doubt about it.
In that era umpires didn't always give the benefit of the doubt to not offering a shot so not much sympathy as the ball was spinning back.
Why do you have to play a shot if the ball isn't hitting the stumps?
No sandpaper required.
Or mentos, or metal zipper, or teeth. Remember Du Plessis? Atherton? TENDULKAR? Of course you don't. GTFOH
Umpires are enough
Did they show the hawk-eye on the last one? I dont think it was missing off by much but still I think it was missing
How many great names in that South African side! Just unfortunate that Australia was also so good.
I loved watching Warne bowl, but if Hawkeye had been around earlier, I reckon a lot of his
wickets would have been given not out. Although that goes for a lot of bowlers and batsmen.
multiple wickets to all the bowlers
When bucknor is there for australia playing 12 members 😂😂
Ah, all these years later and butthurt Indians are still bleating. Cry more, scrub, 1.5 billion people and you still can't find 11 cricketers good enough to be anywhere near as good as this team. And you never will, because you are inferior in every way.
Huge Warnie fan, but fair to say that at least 3 of these were questionable wickets here. .
some bad umpiring in this game
Some great players on both sides there
warning forever
🐐
DRS would've come in handy in that game. Umpires under immense pressure but you can't deny the fact that Warne had them bamboozled.
It's lucky David Warner wasn't playing for Australia back then.
Gilly would of had him scratching his head, wondering who he's talking about 😅
Jeebus. The Aussies have not deserved a couple of those wickets. I would like to think cricket is a fair game.
where there was stevebucknor ,all hell breaks loose
Couple of dubious decisions, but the commentators also suggesting that there may have been a few similar ones knocked back that may have been out. Really can't tell from showing such a small sample.
Is it same match where Clarke took five?
Watching this makes me appreciate how much drs has improved cricket.
Why was the commentator questioning the final wicket. He didn’t play a shot so it doesn’t matter if it hits him outside the line.
Lot more than5 overs in that clip
A few shocking decisions there
Wish there was DHS here
They make those wooden things to hit the red thing..Ntini took the bad option..
agreed. He put himself in a position where, if he'd played at the ball and missed, he'd have been fine
A couple of those calls were a bit suss 😂
You beauty 🫡👍🇦🇺
12 th man of australia Steve bucknor should be man of the match
It was plum out
Why did warne come on at 91-0
It doesn't show Warne came at 91-0. It shows he took his first wicket at that score.
@@sanjeevopeth commentators said warne picked his 1st wicket in 4 th ball
Kallis was freaking plumb.
Last wicket was ridiculous, was missing off and also way too high
That's what you get when you don't use your bat.
@@thomasnewton5919 yeah poor decisions
@@thomasnewton5919 ive seen a fair few like this given out and the reason is because the batsmen dont play a shot. When you dont, there was a big chance you will be given out back in this day.
What was 'ridiculous' was Ntini leaving his bat in the air to a breaking ball when a Test match was on the line.
Shane Warne was a genius
I'm curious.
Cricket is as popular or more so than Baseball. Maybe not in 🇺🇸 🇨🇦. Is cricket memorabilia as collected? I'd Google it but I think the answer would be different. What say you?
Well we can say yes, recently the bat used by sir Don Bradman was sold for $220k
Great bowling. Can't say the same about the umpiring...
I was a big critic of third umpire when it arrived, on the basis that it curtailed the spontaneous excitement of a wicket. Totally changed my view now and these highlights show why. Although maybe they do not show the ones that should have been given but were not. The level of umpiring looked poor in terms of decisions being any better than marginal. I look back on a lot of hat-tricks on youtube and at least one of most of them were inside edges or another dubious dismissal. So glad that umpires not final decision now.
Jaque got a bad deal there.
Hard to pick the wrong on
kallis and smith both not out
8:28 Shaun Pollock. Sometimes extreme disappointment mixed with dismay and a very real awareness of the incompetence of an official is hilarious.
And when it's not out, no, there is no credit to be given, announcer.
Jack LBW given by Steve is questionable....
Interesting to hear the south African commentator so passionately biased for his team ...
Ntini too so long to get out there could almost have been timed out!
