Shame on Lohia.. LML - what terrible days have befallen you !!! You can get this bike on ChongGing Xcross Motorcycles Co. website (China) for 45k INR. Lohia teamed up with a Colombian import export company - rented an office in the US, buys these things from China, puts a UM logo on it and sells this crap for highly inflated prices in India calling it an American motorcycle - SCAM. I live in the US, for over 10 years and I've never seen this brand here (they don't exist here, and they don't sell any bikes here). The sad thing is, a lot of people in India don't even get the idea of a cruiser right including self-proclaimed "Motorcycle enthusiasts", and people like this JOKER reviewing this thing without doing basic and simple background check on this company and some basic research. It is a CRINGE when he said "Get this if you wanna feel like Captain America". I think he doesn't realize that he looks more like "captain china" riding this silly thing. The engine revs like a bee and sure enough, it is a Chinese clone of 1980s Japanese street bike engines - on a cruiser like body. And people are even comparing this to long stroke engined REs. Try to research a bit about biking in general, and some more on the specific brand , their origins, the value you're getting- before you spend your hard earned money. I would avoid this bike for just the fact that it is Chinese. (don't even go as far as the quality and the terribly misleading marketing they are engaging in).
I was reading some of the comments below and I must say it's not fair to blame UM alone. They have made a start, claiming it's an American bike. But I found out it's got a Spanish owner, who sources parts from China. Not bad in terms of business acumen. As far as cheap Chinese parts are concerned, every auto maker in India was selling tacky parts and models but somewhere along they seem to be improving...Royal Enfield, Fiat, Bajaj...the list is endless. India is usually the dumping ground for the worst products because we believe in "sasta" (cheap) stuff and we deserve it. Our lives are cheap, so are our products. If lakhs of people can actually worship and follow on idiot like Baba Ram Gumeet Rahim Insaan and watch is shitty movies, you can imagine how gullible we all are!! UM is just another fellow trying to make us feel good with its crappy stuff!
UM Motorcycle of US ? Never heard of this in USA. No motorcycle dealer in my neighborhood in New Jersey USA has ever heard of this company or bike. I have been riding motorcycles for several years in US. Only the name is registered in US to boast that it is an 'American' company. It does not make anything here. These bikes are probably made in China or a South American country. ** Please note that my comment is not against the reviewer. Good review. I like that he is wearing a Royal Enfield logo on his jacket :-) ** !!
I think they manufacture it in India (not sure though). Otherwise they wont be able to sell at such competitive prices. If it makes this in US and export here then there would be a lot of additional cost which i think is unnecessary.
+samuel daniel Atleast they're providing a cruiser at an affordable price. They just have to sort the quality issues out before they sell the bikes. If they do then they're way better than the Harley's who are not selling their street 500 in India because they don't want to lose out on sales on street 700.

The switch gear has been changed to make it a bit premium, the radiator bottle has changed, the stickers have been made btr, the gear shifting has a bit of change too..Rest you can see on a test ride at showroom
The review seems a paid advertisement of the brand only, I mean who says a ground clearance of 150 mm will allow users to tackle 'really high speed breakers' 'easily climb over them???? Probably he doesn't even know what he said.. American brand? My friends in U.S. never heard of it, just like singh5g already mentioned, nice impersonation tough, figure wise, small engine with decent output of 24.8, the vehicle seems good but a Chinese product should have been priced a bit lower, probably no ABS. This review was nothing but an awful advertisement by UM, probably spent some pennies.
Have anyone heared the firing....its wyaaakkk.....as per its body and looks they have shown firing must be way better than it is having...go and check american cruiser bikes...this isnt seems like american cruiser....
Adding to this my 350cc engine giving me milage of 40 to 42kmpl...i dont think so any bike with such engine with power will give me performance like my electra 350....

people are unnecessarily trying to bring down commando , only - is that it runs on battery and hence it quickly discharges else it is a beast to reckon with ...... most people have personal agenda against this bike ........ it sell is going to pick up in future

Good Review but i got to say its a pretty mediocre bike. Looks like a avenger modified. I would say go for the new avenger cruiser series you will get a better value for money. As for the question of this bike going against Royal Enfield please this bike is like a toy in front of that beast. I own one Bullet and have test ridden this bike, it feels like a plastic toy. I would say if you have money save it buy a Royal enfield or if you are low on Budget buy an Avenger both of these bikes are good. Stay away from this plastic toy.

I took a test ride, bike is good but the quality is quite substandard. I saw the foot rest rusted and mist inside the indicators. when asked, the dealer told its a zero production bike and these will be fixed in the production bikes. i posted the same in UML face book, asking then for a response. Got none they did not reply. Commando meter console is not in the line of view. meaning u have to look down to check the the speed or anything which is located in the meter. its like Avenger fuel and turn indicators on the fuel tank. In sun light these indicator signs in the console will not be visible as the back lit light inside these are of very very substandard. i had great hopes on this but UM has not lived up to the expectations, minor upgrades will make a huge difference. On the better side they have huge lineup in accessories which might give some face lift to the bike.

Is it there or we have to book from accessories. If so we have to spend a lot for accessories like exhaust baffle, mirrors, UM gel seat... and so on.. Please advice. Is it worth to book or go for another bike like RE I took a test ride, dint even felt any new as normal bike it is there. Nothing special. It turned off many times while test ride. I have given heavy acceleration to move. Dealers are saying these are test bikes you will get Production bikes with good conditions. Is it happens like that. last but not least. Hi thanks for taking the time to write in and for your kind words! The bike may not have a maintenance free battery hence, you would be required to do the additional instructions at your end. It does not mean removing the battery and charging it, what they meant is simply running the bike long enough to get a charge in the battery. The accessories you spoke off are all additional fitment. The engine is a high revving one hence to reach peak power and torque one needs to rev it up close to 7000rpm. The thunderbird 350 is worth a look! The UM Commando has its own merits but the company can improve build quality on the bike!

Users of Bajaj Avenger has a complaint that they get back pain because of the riding position that Avenger offers. I believe this has a similar riding position, low slung seat and elevated foot rest. What's ur comments on this?
Seat height and comfort is relative to riders height. For me at 5'7", I find Triumph Tiger uncomfortable, but Himalayan was comfortable. I have CBR650F and RE500 and I find both the bikes are comfortable for long rides. Back pain has two factors to it. One is rider's fitness and bikes suspension. I am assuming one does not carry a backpack slung on his shoulders while riding. Carrying a backpack surely can change the riding posture and cause back pain (especially on long rides)

UM disappoints in pricing and quantity, cannot pay more than RE ever. They got it all wrong. the place for an affordable quality cruiser to take on RE is still open.

waited for so long and test drove. .. it was horrible...gear lever position was not at all comfortable. 6 ft person has to sit almost in the rear seat for a comfortable riding...break was like a placebo....
UM bikes looks like a Fake company importing from China & rebadging them. Just see my other comments on this video. I have posted similar comments on other videos as well & no one has proven me wrong.

Hi, thanks for writing in. If you are interested in buying a cruiser, then you will be better of on the Thunderbird. The stark difference is quality, surprisingly RE has better quality than the UM bikes, but the company has suggested that they will be improving quality on their UM line up. The RE bikes get better torque, but the UM bikes feel faster and more racy. Personally we would pick up the Thunderbird, but the UM bikes get more features which are only available as after market additions if at all.

I have never ride but I think engine and body has not good finish.... it should be little high power engine and more body weight to get the riding pleasure .... other price should be decreased to 1.1 k
i have taken the test drive in pune....and i can say that the build quality i very low as it priced 1.90L on road in pune....not worth to buy in that price..
Well the review was good. It could have been better with more emphasis on performance of the bike. As far as UM is concerned, its engine is imported while other parts are made in India and its assembled in Kashipur in Uttarakhand. I wonder what motivated them to launch this bike version of Commando in India (its called Commando 2017)! If you have a look at Commando 2016 on the UM Global website (umglobal.com/en/index.php/cruisers/renegade_commando_2016), it looks much better. More stylish with a double silencer and better head lamp console. The one they launched in India looks like any other ordinary bike. Bajaj Avenger or RE Thunderbird would be a better option than this.
Yeah true there are a few merits of the brands which have been in India but UM does bring some interesting aspects like an inbuilt USB charger and SAM. However the Sport S does have an interesting look! RE and Bajaj have their own merits as well.

Sry to say, i dont lyk re very much.. My height is a big prblm in chsng bikes u know. Every cmpny makes bike for the shorter people bt nt for the taller. Sports bikes lyk CBR, NINJA, RC, are like hell to me, i nvr be able to fit my leg on them.. I am very confused, can u hlp me bro??

In that case go for Custom i think bcz wat i know is Thunderbird Himalayan these are the two bikes which even comes under pocket and for above 6 footers its quite comfortable but if i can spend more money Then Triumph Tiger suits well!!!!

Keeway Blackster 250i is waaaaay better than this crap and that's what I am getting it comes with V twin engine, front and back disk brakes, awesome build quality all which are not present in camando

but someways um renegade commando is much far better than royal enfield and um renegade commando doesnt vibrate at 100km/h and at 130km/h speed also you are just saying but actually you do t know anything about UM you are just saying because you want that no other brand would replace royal enfield

The cruiser bike looks awesome for its price in India. But the side mirrors, handle bar and Sound are being minus.

Hi thanks for writing in. Yes it can sustain easily and is quite a fleet footed ride. It is light and feels nimble.

No it does not vibrate that much after touching 100kmph. It is quite smooth. :)

Hi, thanks for writing in. If you are interested in buying a cruiser, then you will be better of on the Thunderbird. The stark difference is quality, surprisingly RE has better quality than the UM bikes, but the company has suggested that they will be improving quality on their UM line up. The RE bikes get better torque, but the UM bikes feel faster and more racy. Personally we would pick up the Thunderbird, but the UM bikes get more features which are only available as after market additions if at all.

Motown India what is so surprising about RE having better quality ? the whole world knows it lol on the other hand UM is Chinese company which no one heard off registered in U.S just to boast it's an American company. everything is done in China, there is nothing american about it except for the design which is a rip off of Harley's Fatboy

It is 750mm sir but the avenger has a seat height of 725mm!
I have never ride but I think engine and body has not good finish.... it should be little high power engine and more body weight to get the riding pleasure

Sir, the engine does not vibrate too much and for the short period that we got the bikes for, it performed really well and cruising was fun.

Well the review was good. It could have been better with more emphasis on performance of the bike.
As far as UM is concerned, its engine is imported while other parts are made in India and its assembled in Kashipur in Uttarakhand. I wonder what motivated them to launch this bike version of Commando in India (its called Commando 2017)! If you have a look at Commando 2016 on the UM Global website (umglobal.com/en/index.php/cruisers/renegade_commando_2016), it looks much better. More stylish with a double silencer and better head lamp console. The one they launched in India looks like any other ordinary bike. Bajaj Avenger or RE Thunderbird would be a better option than this.
Yeah true there are a few merits of the brands which have been in India but UM does bring some interesting aspects like an inbuilt USB charger and SAM. However the Sport S does have an interesting look! RE and Bajaj have their own merits as well.

Keeway Blackster 250i is waaaaay better than this crap and that's what I am getting it comes with V twin engine, front and back disk brakes, awesome build quality all which are not present in camando
The build quality is very bad. Cheap plastics. Heavy vibrations over 100 KMPH. UM has a long way to go to get in to the market.
