I was in the thrift store last week and saw a clerk putting out a vintage leather bag similar to the one you showed. I told the girl that it was vintage and said the lining might be kid leather. Sure enough, it was , in beautiful condition. Amazing what one can find.
I have a beautiful set of Johann Havilland (Bavaria) dinnerware, pattern is Forever Spring that my mom got for me back in the 1970s. A four piece setting for four was offered at our local “chain” grocery store an incentive to customers to buy groceries. Every $100 you spent you could get a box of the four piece setting for four. Then they sold the serving pieces separately. In the late 70s, My dear mother acquired and bought me a complete service, including serving pieces, coffee pot, vegetable bowls, serving platters, cereal bowls, s&p shakers. I have 12 settings!!! Most have never come out of their little suitcase boxes. I didn’t get married and had no children. But I love them still and often use at Easter for my small gatherings.
I was telling one of my friends one day I remembered when my mom went to the grocery store and that’s how she got a lot of her dishes and they thought that was hilarious but I remember two in boxes of ox and maybe fab I don’t remember there was always a dish in those boxes. It was so fun.
I used to sell vintage men’s suits and learned a lot about them! It was incredible to see the high quality and care compared to cheap, shoddy, mass-produced work. It was a lot of work measuring and taking photos but so great when buyers appreciated owning an affordable piece in their size that would last for decades and get compliments. There was one super well-made gorgeous men’s wool winter overcoat that took a year to sell. They were mostly English or German made.
It warms my heart to hear you remember phrases your mom and dad spoke. Your videos are always so fun and informative. Wonderful job! Thank you for sharing your time and amazing knowledge with us.
Welcome! Happy to hear that you are enjoying the videos. Don't forget to share links to the videos so others don't miss out! Shares and likes help me make more videos for you all to watch :)
LOL, "You gotta protect the kidneys".... My mother used to say to us girls, "Never sit on the cold concrete because you'll get a cold up 'there' ". I'm 67 and I still don't know what she was talking about.
You’re around my mother’s age so your mom would probably be around my late Grandmother’s age and her thing was rickets-everything would give me rickets. Sitting on cold concrete? Rickets. Walking around barefoot? Rickets. Eating spoiled food? Rickets. I was an adult before I even Googled to find out what rickets actually is. lol
I'll remember about the extra coat lining. Your dad sounds like he knew about protecting the body from the cold. Always learning something from your videos.
I got a whole bunch of wedgewood Nantucket at my goodwill made in England. I broke a cup and found one on ebay, but it was made in Indonesia. The difference in quality is noticeable 😢😢. So looking for the right mark is really important!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Share video links with others so they can enjoy the videos too! The shares also help me make more videos for you all to watch. Providing 'Super Thanks' for videos help. The smallest amount is appreciated :)

I like your mom’s phase “for nice”. I too have stuff that is “for nice”!😊 And also like your dad’s phrase “you want to protect your kidneys and keep them warm”.
I'm glad you are spending some extra time in coats today. While you were talking, I was looking through mine, and I will be taking 4 to my booth tomorrow! I appreciate all that you teach us.❤
I have just been getting into reselling and have learned quite a bit already from others I follow on here….the first 3 minutes of your video I’m like ahhh where’s my pen…need to write these things down😂 -thank you so much! So helpful!
Wow! Just caught your video on Google, I'm sooooo glad I watched it! I have learned more in your video than I have learned in last 6 months about dishes, and I have really been trying, I love how you explain things so I can understand, love your honesty, and your knowledge! You are amazing! Thank you so much! 😊
Great video Dr. Lori and I loved shopping with you at the PA Goodwill. The biscuit jar was beautiful and I loved the vintage purse, too. Love your tips about picking the better porcelain pieces. One time I was at a Goodwill in Yuba City, California and the guy pointed to a pile of stuff and said choose anything you want. I choose 2 Giants bobbleheads. I re-sold them on eBay, and a guy from Hawaii bought them for $50 each...pretty good for free.
@@elizabethanderson8528😂🤣🤣🤣 my most fun item to sell was a boxing nun hand puppet. It was super cheap and sold overnight for $75 if I remember correctly.
