What I love is your level of humility and determination. When I was still teaching the Total Control Basic Course here in SoCal I would always tell my students that there is no room in a helmet for pride, but all the room in the world for humility and willingness to learn. Congrats on a great experience. My wife and I are late to riding (mid-50’s) and loving doing so on our Triumphs (Bobber for her, T120 for me), but really want to get a Tiger. Got our oldest daughter learning to ride who is equally challenged in the height department, and your example and lessons are perfect for my bride and our daughter.
I’ve been watching the channel for about 2 years now…congrats on taking a chance, betting on yourself, and building a brand and business. You really should be proud of what you’ve accomplished both on a bike and in business.

Awesome video Doodle! Throttle control is probably the hardest to perfect and you definitely improved from the beginning to end and you were able to ride your bike home!
Been watching your videos for a little less than a year after buying my adv. bike. This one is so far my favorite. (My previous favorite was the one about doing a gazillion u-turns). You're making killer progress and I'm inspired to get out on my bike and drill more of this stuff like you do so I can be a better rider. I'm excited to see your next videos.

Doodle..... THIS WAS YOUR BEST VIDEO to date. It took me back to my intro to adventure days class. I will add that yours had more obstacles. You did great, especially on the Tiger 900. I have the 850 sport mainly because of the height, After watching you, I'm kind of jelly because I could have gotten the 900....LoL. As for picking the bikes up, you did awesome. It's no joke picking up a dropped bike, especially out in the the woods. In your defense, the BMW has side jugs, so technically it is easier to pick up as it is already in a 45 degree angle when leaned over. ;-), so you picking up your bike was actually harder because it sits over lower when leaned over. So props to you. Looks like you all had a great time and I know you learned quite a bit. Keep up the adventure, especially when you are out of your comfort zone.

The blind riding part is no joke a good lesson to learn. You never know when you are suddenly going to be blinded and need to just keep your cool while you get yourself into a safe place.
I was once riding in South Carolina on a country road, passed under a tree reaching over the road and BAM! Instant white-out! I killed something like 10,000 small bugs that were hovering under the tree, my screen on my helmet went instantly white, and I couldn't see anything outside of the inside of my helmet. I kept my cool, applied brakes to come to a smooth stop, flipped up the visor, got off the road, and cleaned up.
It's very good to see how much all of you were enjoying the training and the camaraderie that's evident in the videos. Well done and stay safe and keep the videos coming.
That barrel exercise was great. Not one I have heard before though. When exiting a racetrack, the common signal is to hold up your left had that you are “pitting in” to signal the other bikes at race pace. I have done this countless times during endurance races. Even today, when I do this I go from 100% in control to -feeling- like I have about 30% of the control i had moments before. Never ocurred to me to PRACTICE this until now. Thanks for the training suggestion.

Inspired. Last year I had a really rough time on my 690 Enduro R. Really got in my head that my buddies were telling me it was too big for the trails and stuff… well there was one trail I’m glad I didn’t ride. But I had a crap time because I really thought it was too big for me. This just shows me yet again that it’s all in my head. Awesome!

If you really want to learn the basics of motorcycle control, train on an observed trials bike. No that isn't a typo, trials.

Awesome job. Those obsticles are more technical than what most people that ride ADV bikes off road ever tackle.
They design ADV bikes to be dropped. Honestly, I wouldn't be worried about it. Scratches crash guards are like dents in an old pick up, their badges of honor.

Nice! There are two types of riders - strong ones, and smart ones! I just finished taking Bret Tkacs course over the weekend, such an awesome time and I learned that adv riding takes A LOT of skill, especially mental skill, to master. A lot of the techniques seem counterintuitive at first, but boy oh boy do they work!🤣I found that if I'm getting tired, it's because I'm trying to fight against something instead of leverage it to work for me. Would love to take my Livewire down to Jocelin's ranch to pick up some additional skills. Great vid!

As a beginning rider I jumped to bigger and heavier bikes as quick as I could. Now I'm going back to lighter bikes. To anyone learning and we ALL are learning, it's FAR cheaper and easier to learn how to do this stuff on a dual sport. If you're afraid of your bike its a good indication that you've skipped ahead too quickly. If you think you need a giant bike for adventure look at Itchy Boots and what a small bike can do. I am having more fun on a DR650 than I did on Vstrom 1000 and Tiger 1200. YMMV.

One of the best things to practice even for experienced riders who've never done it, is Throttle/Traction.
Thats what I call it and its something I picked up from race drivers. How they maintain grip and traction going through corners and its the same way riders stay up. They do the opposite of what people do when unsure.
Human nature is to let OFF the throttle whenever were unsure. How many times have you seen someone fail when loading a bike in a truck using a ramp and they fall over before they get to the bed?
What did they do wrong? Let off the gas. And these are guys who ride bikes!
Starting off at slow speeds in a parking lot, focus on how giving it throttle pushes you through turns and turning.
Practice giving it slow, steady throttle while turning instead of letting off the gas. Yes you will be going fater than if you let off but you will stay up and it will build your confidence.
Find a back roads place to ride and have that same focus approaching curves.
You'll quickly learn that applying throttle is actually your friend and no offense to our lovely Doodle here but every time we see her drop her bike its for not applying throttle.
Your Training and Trips are fantastic, good for you. You have great memories now. I use to ride decades ago, don't anymore for many reasons. Today's world on the roads is too unpredictable, too many drivers distractions. I am a retired LEO, part of my duties was being a Traffic Crash Reconstructionist. The numbers of MC Fatalities was very high. Some were the riders, many were too many other vehicles on the road without any consideration for others. Watching some of your videos on the Interstate are a perfect example. A good friend of mine retired from the P.D. in 2021, he was away from the P.D. for maybe 6 months. He was out with his wife on a early summer ride, while only 4 miles away from his home a Pickup Truck disregarded his right of way, pulled out in front of him at 55 mph. I'm sure he only had the chance to say "Oh ****" and impact. He and he wife were severely injured. Flown to a Level One Hospital and with in a week they were placed into the same room and taken off life support and passed away together. Local Prosecutor recused himself from the case. Outside the County Prosecutor decided "No Charges for the Truck Driver" "Just an Accident".... No such thing as a Accident, they are Caused Occurrences. Lack of Attention and Failure of Right of Way killed my friends. Large SIgn at the Intersection where they lost their lives. No justice for this Retired Police Officer and his Wife. May the Law of averages be on your side, enjoy your experiences and always Stay Safe.

As for myself, raced motocross for years, did some enduro, supermoto and trial. I would never pick such heavy big bikes for off-roading. In my opinion 45hp is more than enough and weight, yeah, as light as possible 😂
I know you can do a lot on a big bike but it's so easy and more playful to do it on a enduro bike 🎉
But as said, brilliant how you handled that and great respect for the teacher, part of this is technique and a great part of this is the confidence to try.
I actually would love to try something like this, it seems a lot of fun.
It's a lot of fun watching this kind of stuff for me because I'm 6 foot and 200 pounds but right now my main rider is a Honda trail 125. Really cool to see you doing this.
