Man. you have no clue for how long i have tried. and tried. and tried. Because PLUS: i am streaming from another laptop. and omg. Its finally all coming through. THANK YOU.
Also, instead of manually assigning every single channel to send to a "MONITOR" BUS in your DAW, you can simply create a "Multi-Output Device" for your Interface + SoundFlower in the Audio MIDI Setup app. Then you don't have to fiddle with BUS assignments for every single channel strip on every single new DAW project file. Hope this makes sense, and simplifies the process for you Logic users. Thanks for this video!!! It was incredibly helpful.

Hi Benjamin, as long as the two tracks in GarageBand have different inputs enabled, you should be able to monitor them both by clicking the input monitor button on each track.
If you configured the aggregate device correctly, you should be able to choose additional outputs in your DAW (assuming the aggregate device is set as the output in the DAW). In Logic if you click and hold where it says "Stereo Output" you can see your other output options.
Great Job Tano. I was looking for a tutorial on this subject. A friend sent me the link and what a surprise when I saw who it was giving the tutorial. keep up the great work!!
HOw do you talk to your audience while youre working on music? i have everything set up, but i cant figure out how to run the mic thats going into my interface. if i turn on input monitoring it works but do i have to do that everytime i talk?
Yeah, the best way is to use input monitoring. However, if you're using OBS, you could add another audio input capture (in addition to SoundFlower/Blackhole), and set that as your interface (with your mic plugged into input 1 or 2). That way you can have a separate channel in OBS that's getting the raw signal from the mic.
Thanks, great to know. the 2 computer thing is interesting...now I need to figure out if I can run my guitar and mic on my new Mac book air M1 and send it to my pc to stream.

Ha ha. Hey what's up Tano! Thanks so much for this tutorial, brotha. I've been banging my head against this situation for the past couple days prepping for a livestream show tonight. Cheers!
Hi.. Thanks a lot for this informative video. I have one question. In the end you showed how the mix can be exported from Console to Logic Pro X to Soundflower. But isn't that just for audio tracks? I mean what if I'm a vocalist who wants to play his MIDI keyboard along with his singing. I guess what I directly want to ask is that, if I want to make use of zero latency, how can I make sure that entire of my mix along with my MIDI and audio is being sent from Console to Logic Pro X....
Hey! Yes, console can only have audio tracks, no MIDI. You can run your audio sources through console, and your MIDI tracks in Logic Pro X. That way you don’t have to deal with audio latency with software monitoring. Since you’re using UAD, check out the other video I made on streaming with UAD and Console: ua-cam.com/video/o_yGke-rWg4/v-deo.html
Hi. I followed the steps correctly for Logic Pro X, but I'm not seeming to be getting any monitoring that I can hear. I can see that the signal is going into OBS, but I can't hear it. I have tried all possible outputs in my Monitor bus. Help!
On an Apollo you can just go into console and set inputs one and two to monitors 1 and 2 and you’re done. You don’t need soundflower or anything else. I use soundflower though because I use an aggregate device with an es-9 too. Still a great video, I just thought this might help someone. Thanks.
Hey Tano! Thanks for the info! My problem is that I can only get the tracks to show volume in OBS if I monitor them in GarageBand. And due to the inability of being able to make busses, I can only monitor one at a time. So I can get the guitar to have volume, but not the mic etc. any idea what I’m doing wrong? I’m running through a Focusrite 2i2 and a MacBook Pro. Thanks!
Hey man! You can monitor two tracks at once in Garageband. Just make sure they have different inputs, and then click the input monitoring button on each track.
Tano Brock I was able to get both sounds in OBS, but now for some reason, I can’t hear any effects from garage band. Just a dry signal from my mic and the guitar. Any idea why? I appreciate you helping
DUUUUUDE THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS. I just started doing music streams and I was having trouble getting rid of lag (I’ve got an Apollo twin-MacBook-elgato-PC w/ streamlabs) I did everything you did except I had to create a multiple output aggregate device. Seems to be working perfectly 🙏
Very nice configuration, I have the same, but I'm using SONOBUS, do you have a tutorial also about it? Or do you think will be enough following your procedure but replacing OBS with SONOBUS?
Thanks for the details. I am using a Behringer UMC202HD to connect bass and vocals to Jam Kazam for band rehearsals. Works great! However, I also need to be able to connect keys through Main Stage 3, as I play keys on some tunes. Can you offer guidance on setting up to be able to do this? Thanks again!
Hey man, do you ever find that at times, you get crazy feedback or sounds when using your aggregate device? I frequently get robotic distortion, very fuzzy and overdriven vocal/music, sometimes get no pick up on the logic project despite getting a clear pick up through sound card. Seems super weird but has happened before. Have tried creating a new aggregate device, same issue. Reinstalling sound flower, hoping to fix it, but wondered if I was doing something wrong.. Thanks if you get the time to get back to me here. Cheers!
Another tip that might work in Logic (I haven't tried it yet) so that you don't need to bus every one of your tracks manually. You route all your sounds to a single aux (highlight all midi/audio tracks on mixer, right click on "stereo out" and route to a new bus/aux. Set that aux to "Stereo Out") and then just add the reverse aux bus to the aggregate aux.
Trying out this version of the setup today. Just got a new Mac Studio Ultra so I'm assuming it should be able to handle things. If theres a newer way of this I'd love to know. Got a sub out of me
Hey! Is it necessary to go through OBS or I can also use soundflower, console and go directly to facebook and select there soundflower as audio interface?
Hey man! It’s not necessary to use OBS, I just like it because it gives you more detailed control of the stream. You can definitely select Soundflower as the input source in Facebook and do it that way.
Yes! I’m about to post a video about how to do it without Soundflower with a UAD interface. Stay tuned! Subscribe to the channel so you’re notified when it’s up. Should be up early tomorrow
Thank you for this video! I have been looking for how to set up OBS + Logic Pro X to stream my music on my live streams. Did a test after following your setup guide and it worked great!
Will every single track need a monitor send? And does this create lag or any other issues that you know of? Logic User. Great video thanks for the tutorial!
Hey Tano - awesome video. Straight and to the point and a real help to the community. However instead of using an Aggregate device, I would recommend using a Multi-Output device instead. You can select it from the same menu in the Audio + Midi Setup app, and it's actually made exactly for this use case. When you create the multi-output device, just check boxes for your audio interface + Soundflower and it will mirror audio to both sources. This way, when you select the Multi-output device as your audio output in your DAW, audio will automatically play to both your normal stereo out + Soundflower without needing to create an additional send or return track in the DAW. Much simpler. Power users who are interested in layering several different audio sources may also be interested in an app called Loopback by Rogue Amoeba software. It's like Soundflower on steroids, but it is a bit pricey at ~$100. Anyway - hope this helps, and keep up the good work!
Hey! Yes, I've tried using a Multi-Output device before. I prefer using an aggregate device because it allows me to have separate control over the monitor channel and the stream channel. That way, for instance, I could route a click track only to the monitor, and not to the stream.
Hey my man! Super glad I found this. I followed your steps and coming out of logic I am using only auto tune and a few other stock plugs that i always record on that have low latency. I am using an apogee duet. Everything sounds fine but the moment I output everything to OBS it has a lot of latency and popping no butter what I change the buffer to in logic. Is it possible it has to do with the internet connection. I'm not sure what else it could be. Thanks again man!
Great video, helped me a lot. In the end of the video you've said you can use 1 Mac for audio and another one for live-streaming. How do would send the audio from audio Mac to the live-streaming Mac?
Good question! You would just run TRS cables from the MON OUT of the interface connected to the audio computer, into inputs 1 & 2 of the interface connected to the video/streaming computer.
An excellent video. Really well delivered. I've managed to do this with blackhole. However, I've been asked to stream to a Zoom conference. Do you happen to know how to direct the OBS audio capture so that it pipes it to Zoom? Any help would be appreciated.
@@TanoBrock Cool. I did start to consider that possibility after 2 days of tying myself in knots, but I'm not savvy enough to go with my gut! Cheers for the reply - really appreciate it.
Which DAW are you using? Make sure the output device in your DAW is the aggregate device you created in audio midi setup. Also make sure to configure the aggregate device so that outputs 3&4 are outputs 1&2 of your interface.
Great video thank you! I was using the 16-channel version of Blackhole and it was troublesome. It's important to get the 2-channel version to avoid problems like effects not going to OBS.
This is really helpful, but I wanna know with Logic, can I stream whatever effects that I've added into it? I've been trying but it doesn't seem to get my effects when I'm streaming it... did I not do something right?
using multichannel output device as audio output source in your daw plus using aggregate device as audio input into OBS gives you hella recording latency per layer recorded, likey anywhere from 11 milliseconds to 25 milliseconds per layer added, I highly recommend using 2nd interface, zero recording latency equals better track... get out what you put in
Hey Tano. I'm running Catalina. I just downloaded Blackhole and setup the Aggregate device. But Blackhole is 16 channels rather than just the 2 you were using with Soundflower. So what do you choose for the output of the Monitor Aux track?
Hi Leigh, just choose the next two available inputs. If you position your interface "after" Blackhole when configuring the aggregate device, your audio interface should be occupying outputs 17 & 18.
@@TanoBrock Great, thank you! I'll try that. Also, is it possible to run a livestream with clean audio using external monitors? Or do you have to use headphones with this kind of setup? I play acoustic and sing so there's a live mic in the room and I'm plugged in direct with my acoustic.
@@LeighCara If you use a dynamic mic, you should be able to use monitors, but if you play loud, the mic will catch the monitors as well. So for best sound, you should us headphones :-)
Hello! We’re using Windows and we want to livestream our church live worship using OBS? We have focusrite as interface and using studio one. But somehow it’s we can’t work it out. Hope you guys can help us. Thanks!
@@TanoBrock ohhh ok, it's only showing 2 output channels in audio midi set up, is there a way i can make more channels? i really appreciate your help by the way

Thanks! I have not used Blackhole. However, the latency isn’t coming from Soundflower. It’s coming from the DAW itself, and changes based on the buffer size.
Tano Brock Some sound applications like sound flower, can cause additional latency. It may also depend on your audio interface. But with black hole (by existential audio), it doesn’t add any additional latency.
Super cool! Thanks a lot for this video. Can you help me with an issue i am having? I use a Apollo X6 with a ADAT interface and for some reason i don't understand why i can't have the signal coming from the ADAT into OBS. What am i doing wrong ?For example: If my MIC is connected in the first channel of the Apollo everything works just fine but if i use the MIC in the first ADAT channel there is no signal in OBS.
Question: very insightful video, thank you! How do I go about doing this without an audio interface or mic? My mission is just to stream Ableton and audio out from abelton to UA-cam etc. can’t seem to find much information on that.
Good question! You can follow the same setup, just take the audio interface out of the equation. You can make a multiouput device that includes "built in output" and SoundFlower or BlackHole. your "built in output" will be your speakers or headphones.
How do you still hear audio from the Ableton Browser when previewing samples? 👋 When routing/C-Monitor Send channel, unfortunately, it stops preview feedback from the browser. Essentially I'm trying to Send the preview audio to the C-Monitor so I can hear my browser previews. -tried different re-routing options and I cant seem to crack it - any help would be lovely. 🙏 Great tutorial thank you!!
Hey! Yes, there is another virtual audio driver called "BlackHole." It is basically the same thing as Soundflower, and works with Catalina! existential.audio/blackhole/

On an Apollo you can just go into console and set inputs one and two to monitors 1 and 2 and you’re done. You don’t need soundflower or anything else. I use soundflower though because I use an aggregate device with an es-9 too. Still a great video, I just thought this might help someone. Thanks.
Dude, you have no idea how helpful this video was ... Thanks .... Subscribed ... Keep in touch man
What is the input source in OBS?
DUUUUUDE THANK U SO MUCH FOR THIS. I just started doing music streams and I was having trouble getting rid of lag (I’ve got an Apollo twin-MacBook-elgato-PC w/ streamlabs) I did everything you did except I had to create a multiple output aggregate device. Seems to be working perfectly 🙏
Totally awesome of you to share this. Was a head-scratcher for sure. Thanks a million!
Rob Cosh thank you! Glad it helped ☺️
Fantastic! Thank you!. Will this work just as easily using Logic with apogee duet?
Yes! That'll work just fine. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already :)
THX really good job
Very nice configuration, I have the same, but I'm using SONOBUS, do you have a tutorial also about it? Or do you think will be enough following your procedure but replacing OBS with SONOBUS?
Wow brilliant, took ALL day to find this....OBS is quite laborious.....this is a great fix....Thanks! Will give this a try
Thank you! so glad the video helped you out. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already :)
Thank you for your time & is this the same process for Fruity loops, great tutorial and easy to understand
Thanks again!
great video! Can I use the same method (but use midi piano from logic) to send OBS to zoom for online classes ?
Great job Tano... Very well done...Tony
Thanks Tony!
Absolute legend! Thanks for this, brother x
Blair Dunlop thanks so much man!! I’ll be posting lots more videos like this soon! Subscribe to stay tuned ☺️
Amazing Video Tano! Very useful information, clear and consice! Thanks a lot.
Thanks so much!!
Trying out this version of the setup today. Just got a new Mac Studio Ultra so I'm assuming it should be able to handle things. If theres a newer way of this I'd love to know. Got a sub out of me
Great video - I have similar setup which makes it awesome. Shame UA-cam takes 24 hours to provide streaming key but hey still good.
@@TanoBrock thank you man, totally gonna try this tomorrow! It might save my ass!
Sounds good! Are you using a UAD interface?
@@TanoBrock yes, I got the Apollo Twin Mark II. Should work right?
Yes! I’m about to post a video about how to do it without Soundflower with a UAD interface. Stay tuned! Subscribe to the channel so you’re notified when it’s up. Should be up early tomorrow
Bro, that was an amazing tutorial. Everything I needed and none of what I din't. So such shway!!

Totally Helpful, thanks Tano!!
Tano Brock ohh that’s an interesting use case I never thought about! cool to hear other techniques for this type of thing. All good then, carry on! ✌🏼
How about if I want to mix a song during a stream with Logic?
Great video, helped me a lot. In the end of the video you've said you can use 1 Mac for audio and another one for live-streaming. How do would send the audio from audio Mac to the live-streaming Mac?
Good question! You would just run TRS cables from the MON OUT of the interface connected to the audio computer, into inputs 1 & 2 of the interface connected to the video/streaming computer.
@@TanoBrock Dope! that will work
An excellent video. Really well delivered. I've managed to do this with blackhole. However, I've been asked to stream to a Zoom conference. Do you happen to know how to direct the OBS audio capture so that it pipes it to Zoom? Any help would be appreciated.
Hey! Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. If you’re using Zoom, you don’t need to use OBS. You can just choose BlackHole as the audio input in Zoom.
@@TanoBrock Cool. I did start to consider that possibility after 2 days of tying myself in knots, but I'm not savvy enough to go with my gut! Cheers for the reply - really appreciate it.
No worries! Make sure to subscribe - lots more videos coming soon!
Hey was really helpfull and thanks a lot for this. i am not able to see the option for 3/4 for my monitor out
any help????
Which DAW are you using? Make sure the output device in your DAW is the aggregate device you created in audio midi setup. Also make sure to configure the aggregate device so that outputs 3&4 are outputs 1&2 of your interface.
@@TanoBrock ya got it, thanks a lot
i was using abelton live
No problem! Make sure to subscribe, I’ll be posting tutorials regularly!
Thanks a lot, this is the best tutorial!
Yes, the method I show in the video will stream any effects you’re using in Logic. It streams the stereo output of logic.
sir, great video
But I use blackhole, overstep is just like yours, no sound and level in OBS, but I can hear in Logic tho, please help thank you
Thank you tano sir
Great job 👏 very useful and informative video
Great video Tano. Thanks for sharing your setup.
Thanks man! Glad you liked it. I’ll be posting lots more videos like this in the future! Stay tuned ☺️
using multichannel output device as audio output source in your daw plus using aggregate device as audio input into OBS gives you hella recording latency per layer recorded,
likey anywhere from 11 milliseconds to 25 milliseconds per layer added,
I highly recommend using 2nd interface, zero recording latency equals better track...
get out what you put in
Thank You! Great Tut. What are your Mac Config. that you used for your livestreams
?
For those of you that are running Catalina, use BlackHole instead of Soundflower. existential.audio/blackhole/
Gammelfar Musik thanks for the dynamic mic tip!
Do you have a video for two separate computer? Just wondering how’s the audio route works with two computer?
Hello! We’re using Windows and we want to livestream our church live worship using OBS? We have focusrite as interface and using studio one. But somehow it’s we can’t work it out. Hope you guys can help us. Thanks!
Hi! What is the specific issue you’re encountering?
At 5:53, i only get the one stereo out option, i can't select 3 &4 or anything else
How have you set up your aggregate device in audio midi setup? And is it selected as your output device in your DAW?
@@TanoBrock ohhh ok, it's only showing 2 output channels in audio midi set up, is there a way i can make more channels? i really appreciate your help by the way
@@TanoBrock yes, i think my problem was i was using a different sound capture program and it only had 2 channels, i downloaded Soundflower and saw it has the 64 channel out. but then my iRig Midi interface broke so now i need to wait for a new one and hopefully can get it all to work...will let you know! awesome video perfect just what I needed to know thank you so much
There’s also loopback by rogue amoeba is much easier it costs but it’s really amazing fir the audio from daw into obs
Nice video. It seems the latency issue could be resolved by using Blackhole instead of sound flower? Have you tried using Blackhole before.
Oh for sure! Thanks for the tip. I’ve heard of it, but haven’t used it. I’ll check it out.
Thanks so much for doing this video! This will help a lot of people, including myself!
Awesome! Glad it helped you. Share with anyone you think might find it useful! :)
Hey Tano, thanks for the video - very clear and instructive xx
Great vid thanks for being precise & to the point! I use UAD as well!
do you have a solution for the click track? i'm not able to hear it. would appreciate it!
That was really helpful 🙏🏼
Thanks!! Glad you found it helpful. Make sure to subscribe! I’ll be posting tutorials regularly :)
When routing/C-Monitor Send channel, unfortunately, it stops preview feedback from the browser.
Essentially I'm trying to Send the preview audio to the C-Monitor so I can hear my browser previews.
-tried different re-routing options and I cant seem to crack it - any help would be lovely. 🙏
Great tutorial thank you!!
Got it! - just throw and external instrument audio effect on your C-send, then choose your ins and outs, done
Soundflower does not work on Catalina... is there a work around?
Hey! Yes, there is another virtual audio driver called "BlackHole." It is basically the same thing as Soundflower, and works with Catalina! existential.audio/blackhole/
Tano Brock ok so I was able to get the soundflower to install but I’m having a hard time configuring it with the presonus firestudio
Did you try BlackHole? It’ll work much better than Soundflower with Catalina. What DAW are you using? All you need to do set the output of the DAW to Soundflower or BlackHole
Tano Brock I’m using Logic.. somehow I got it to work but I’m not sure how... the presonus is a difficult mixer to operate
