I have 3 amplifiers one is 150 watts, no 2 is 120 watts and the third one is 400 rms 800 peak ,iam using this in my hous how many amps power supply dc do I need to power this system.?... they are all peak power
I tried tuning my 550 watt amp with an SMD DD1 and it detect distortion when I BARELY turn the gain up. The terminals are 4g but I’m using 8g. Is that bad?
If i want to build the motor of 0.5 hp then what wire i should use? And also for designing different wattage motor like 500watt, 750 watt, 100 watt how to calculate wire guage?
hmmm....Id say you are wrong. It also depends on how long the run is. If you have a car with the battery in the trunk and your run is only going to be like 5-10 feet. Then 4 gauge cable is perfectly fine for 1000 even 1200 watts. To make your statement correct you would say anything drawing over 300 amps should be 0 guage.
I'm getting 2 subs that are 1500 watts rms each. I want to wire them down to 1 ohm. What size amp kit should I get and what gauge speaker wire would work for pushing my 2 12's 3000 watt rms total?
Not the same. Apart from overheating if you really push a wire, the issue is voltage drop. The thicker the wire, the less the voltage drop. And the voltage drop is dependent on the current not the actual voltage. The same current will result in a one volt drop in a certain length of wire whether the voltage is 12 or 230 volts. The difference is the effect of that voltage drop. Lowering 230 volts to 229 volts probably won't matter. Dropping 12 volts to 11 volts may make a difference. And as you might guess, length also matters. Doubling the length will double the voltage drop. A two-foot length of wire might cause no problems with voltage drop, while an eight-foot length might.
To know what gauge of power wire you need look at the size of the power and ground terminals on your car amplifier because the power and ground terminals will be different sizes depending on the car amplifier your using if your car amplifier accepts 8 gauge wire then use 8 gauge wire if your car amplifier accepts 0 gauge wire then use 0 gauge wire know what gauge of wire your car amplifier accepts by looking at the power and ground terminals
No, AWG works backwards. So 8ga cable is thicker than 10ga cable, furthermore 4ga thicker than 8 and so on. Also, your amps will only pull as much power as they need, you could run 0ga cable (Thickest in common applications) to an amp that pulls 10 watts of power, it would just be complete overkill.
10g wire in place of 8g means that your thinner wire (10g is thinner than 8g) would be pulling too much power through it and overheat and could even cause wire melting and fire. You can always go bigger wire than required but never smaller. 6g would be fine, 10g would not.
Well if that is all you are running 10 gauge would be plenty if the connections you have will accept 10 gauge. You might could go as low as 14 gauge anything after that might be too small. The bigger the wire the more current you can push through it. If the wire is too small it will act as fuse and melt and maybe cause a fire.
@@Bouray1 thank you. I appreciate that. Bigger is more then. I'm going to remember that. Just new to the whole wiring situation. There's so much blooming stuff to learn. Lockdown man.
4 gauge connectors don't fit my amp. I used 4 gauge wire (d= 5mm, 16mm diameter with the casing - thick!) for my 600w Alpine #BBXF1200 car stereo amp, because that's what the internet says. But, that's nonsense. The watts are irrelevant - it's all about amp draw (40a fuse in my amp, 50a in line) and wire length (5m). I should've used 6 gauge, max. I had to cut and file the connectors down to make them fit in the amp.
TheMidnightNarwhal so what would I need then if I have two 500 rms subs?? I already have the battery to amp cable setup but I need the amp to sub wires idk what size to get I plan on going the full 1k watts to both subs

You don't even need to watch the video. The thumbnails said it all.
Way better than those folks throwing marketing shit you.
I ended up here somehow, had no reason to watch it, but hey thanks for the vid, I learned a lot from it.
I have a 1800.1d apcle audiopipe my Cherokee is fitted with 4 guage amp wiring with a 2.2 farad cap can I use this wiring?
You can probably use the 4 g wire but personally I would up to 0g wire. That would help if you had other amps on the same line

I've just bought the sony muteki 7.2 1690rms I've bought 8 gauge wire is that good enough?
Is 2g wire from the battery to a 2000w inverter okay?
100w 12v panel
10g wire to the 30amp controller
10g wire to the 36ah 12v agm battery
🤔
Are you talking rms watts or total watts?and is total watts different from peak watts

Thanks just what I need it to know... keep it up
What guage wire should in be useing for a 4k amp
2/0 or 4/0 to be safe
1/0 ga.
I assume this is a guide for DC wiring? AC current takes waaay smaller wires.
I use that 8 as speaker wire if it's oxygen free and if it has strands.anything over 1000 rms needs 0 gauge

I am sure a good quality 0 gauge wire kit should handle it for the power and 12 gauge for the speakers
Thanks, Paul for your speedy reply.
So would a 4 gauge power be good for 4k amp so prolly 2k rms
Michael Langerman run 1/0
THANK you VERY MUCH!! 🖒
Is say 100 amp from 12 volt putting as much stress on a cable as 100 amp from say 230 volt ?

Good interesting video. Is the recommended wattage : RMS, or peak power?
Elijahman T those are peak power
Have a 760 watt max power pioneer amp what guage wire should i get
it's no about peak power (that's if a lightning would hit it) it's about RMS power
Very helpful, thanks

Your audio on this video sucked so bad, I had to take my headphones off and go to my truck and turn it way up..
Where the second set of wires you never showed two sets
I got a vibe 900w sub is 8 gauge alright ?
KayRayGaming no, u need 4 gage for that power
Now I know why my kit does not do what I need it for. I always loose power. Thanks
What if I use 10 gauge when I was supposed to use 8 what happens do I have to much power

I want to run 12v over about a foot. What gadge do I need? It's not making sense to me. Can someone help please?
How much current, amps,, are you running through it?
@@Bouray1 I'm only going to be running 12v through about 1 to 2 foot of wire. Thanks for replying.
@@Bouray1 3.3 amps

Is that rms watts for the chart.
Yes
Cn I use electrical wire to run my amplifier?
No. It doesn't have enough strands and it work hardens. Automotive soeaker wire doesn't harden and doesn't get brittle and has more strands.

I ran into sub panel no green wire no ground rod
Go as big as humans make.
im thinking buying edge sub 750 watts peak power. can anyone tell me what gauge i should use? thanks
it's no about peak power (that's if a lightning would hit it) it's about RMS power

Four gauges only good for a thousand Watts at best
Please skip the redundant explaination and include ALL of the wire comparisons!
I have 16000 watts and 4 runs of 4/0 power wire I use 1/0 for the speakers lol
Trollin.
If u make a new video HD...ull get millions of veiw
0 gauge & 1/0 gauge ARE two totally DIFFERENT SIZES!!!
Wrong. #1 and #0 are different with #0 being bigger.
but 1/0 = 0 just like . .
2/0 = 00
3/0 = 000
4/0 = 0000
lol that is what i use for speaker wire.
🤦♂️
