Roose Bolton had a legitimate son called Domeric and Ramsay was a bastard who poisoned his brother, that's kinslaying but nobody is able to prove it but Roose suspects Ramsay did it to be the only son.
Being in a different house doesn't protect you from kinslaying either. Tytos Blackwood sees it as kinslaying when his son Lucas was killed but Lucas is not related by blood but Walker Frey married a Blackwood called Alyssa who he had children with and that's how Tytos sees them as family. Alyssa was the 4th wife of Walder Frey.
Now for Lucerys, he is related to Aemond by blood as his mother is Aemond's half sister, making Aemond his uncle and Aemond himself doesn't deny being his uncle and even calls him nephew. So yes, it is kinslaying. There is no defence for it.

I initially didn’t like it but if you think about the story it made full sense. They said many times that the dragons can’t be controlled, they’re not horses or pets. They have their own will. So making a dragon escalate the conflict by simply being a dragon was just genius.

In the books there is no guilt, they've tried to soften his TV character a little bit.
The books should not be taken entirely seriously, as they read like reconstructions of events based on records from contemporary witnesses. These accounts not only contradict each other, but one witness, portrayed by a dwarf, claims to have a very large schlong. Therefore, these witnesses may not be very reliable, and the cited events could have happened somewhat differently than recorded. Some of the events, such as what started the war, might also be a result of historical revisionism.
I personally appreciate the show's portrayal of the event as a dumb prank gone wrong between two kids, with Aemond even depicted as feeling guilt/regret. However, since no witnesses were present to accurately report what happened, Aemond or the Greens may not tell the truth, or the Reds won't believe it was an accident.

Arrax was too inexperienced while Vhagar was too experienced and saw it as a form of challenge since she live in the life of War.
The funniest part of this is that up until Vhagar eats them, the flight is almost a replica of the end fight in How To Train Your Dragon. 😆

I really liked this scene, because after working with horses many years I know how even the best trained animal can get out of hand sometime, and it was cool to have that in the narrative, that dragon riders can also lose control of their beasties and f**k up. It added a layer of relatable realism to the whole dragon riding gig, which is really cool. And Mitchell's acting was magnificent here. Nasty character, great actor!

This is why this book is so beautiful, it shows how just one act of selfishness, just doomed the whole house.

Provoked by a Baratheon girl whom Aemon did not choose to wed in the deal he made with Storms End to side with the Greens. Apparently, he even carved out Lucerys' eye and presented it to the Baratheon girl, not his mother.
Maybe not give teenagers sentient nuclear warheads to play with.
Better yet: don't send them on missions that are absolutely critical to building alliances. In fact, just keep their asses at home because they are way too young.

The bigger dragon's roar at the end sounded like it was saying "NOooo" like a toddler copying its parent. It's funny but a bit horrifying too.
Dragons are the most powerful living weapons of mass destruction and yet Aemond wields his dragon like a bully waving around a loaded gun. It's all fun and games until someone gets killed.
Daemon respects dragons and treats them like superior beings, that's why he has such an insane bond with Caraxes, who understands him without any commands given.
Aemond treats the biggest living dragon like a toy that he can use to scare his nephew and you can see the result.

Luke had zero control over his dragon for most of this scene. He and Arrax were both doomed the moment Luke decided to continue with his quest as messenger. When it comes to situations like this, it doesn't matter how well your dragon is trained, they are still a living, breathing being with far more power than their riders. They make their own choices, the bond isn't control, not at all. Dragons willingly serve humans, they don't HAVE to. It's very much like with horses. I have a horse, and 99% of the time she is incredible and does what I ask of her, but if she gets scared or upset she lets me know. Horses are prey animals, so sometimes she will spook or bolt, and there isn't much I can do except hold on and try to calm her. Control is an illusion, it's a partnership. Dragons, though, are apex predators. They don't tend to run, and if they know they can't run (ie, Arrax) they will fight. That's why he attacked Vhagar, he panicked. For him, and for Vhagar, too, his rider wasn't even there... no longer in the picture. I think it was portrayed super well in this scene, that dragons aren't just servants of humans. Can't wait for season 2!

That doesn't make any sense. No one killed Leana; she was dying from childbirth complications (which is considered a natural cause as it happens sometimes). Leana commanded Vhagar to kill her herself. And it's not like Luc made Arrax shoot at Vhagar; he did that on his own. And if Vhagar had enough with humans, why does she allow Aemond to ride her?

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing to have but realistically in this situation, there is no way Vhagar could have seen into the chasm, meaning it would have been a perfect place to hide and then simply fly back the way you came (obviously don't wait for too long though as eventually I suspect Aemond would have simply lit the chasm on fire out of getting tired of waiting) as Aemond had no idea where Lucarys was at the time until he likely saw Lucerys flying into the clouds through the lightning strikes.

Thought the same thing. Find a landing spot in the chasm and wait it. Or fly a random direction. Certainly don’t make a stupid attack and the fly high, out of the storm, and then level in plain sight.
@@NeilsonBuntowa probably a death sentence. The dragon is small and would likely have had its wings broken by simply a flap of one of Vaghar’s wings (or killed) and is small enough for a person to kill.
Also, Lucerys was likely quite heavy for him and would have had problems taking off again in a storm on a not very level surface, meaning they would have crashed to their death.
Ohhh damn. That’s gonna cause some problems. Kind of tragic how it happened because nobody listen to Vicerys’ words about dragons not being controlled. You can tell by his face that Aemond had absolutely no intention of killing Luc. Season 2 is going to be… fire!

When I first watched this scene, it didnt register in my head that Aemond's dragon straight up killed Luke by devouring him because i was thinking some part of Arrax's corpse was Luke falling. Then I read the Wikipedia page and found the horrifying truth. Aemond made me so angry with this scene.

Given how much smaller Arrax was in comparison to Vhagar, Luke probably could've outmaneuvered Aemond if they had better visibility. His best bet probably would've been to find a spot to hide somewhere in that canyon and wait till morning.

This scene inspired me to read Fire and Blood. Once I heard that it was written from the perspective of the maesters, I was sold. It’s so cool to read how a story or legend allegedly played out through word of mouth but then see how it actually went down as displayed in the show. I think it’s such a cool twist to find out Aemond killed Luke by accident, I can’t wait to see how season 2 handles the Battle at Rooks Rest 👀
