The lamp on the piano was my response to Liberace, who always used to place a candelabra on his grand piano. I also love those coat stands. Just somewhere to hang my coat up whilst I’m singing....
I once did a TV show, and to get to the studio I took my own coat stand on the tube!
Excuse me, is this film also an official video?「Alone again(naturally)」 ua-cam.com/video/MZ8VyWuUdL4/v-deo.html
Awesome!
Thank you sir thanks for the memories...
You talk about coat stands, but I am not alone I am sure when I say that you were instrumental in forging my moral compass with Nothing Rhymed. For that, I thank you.
Einfach nur schön
Hello everyone, thank-you for tuning in to watch the HD premier of 'Matrimony'. So what I love about this song, is that while it was never released as a single, it has become almost a signature tune for me. You only have to witness the reaction it receives at concerts! And of course, being a Latin based song, there’s no denying Latin never dates. It's current, contemporary, and a key factor... danceable!! It's nice to think it has played it's part in many a wedding over the years
Fantastic to see these clips digitally restored - keep them coming :-) Would love to see a re-broadcast of some of the BBC footage and concerts
Hi Gilbert! Matrimony was a charttoppa here in Norway in 1972. Love you an your songs! Are you coming to Norway this autumn?
Really wonderful and distinctive bridge, as always from you.
Brilliant Gilbert. Looking forward to seeing you in Cork next year.
'Matrimony' was a Top5-song in The Netherlands, July 1972, and we'll never forget you performing it in the Grand Gala du Disque Populaire, February 25, 1972!!
Interesting fact: the drummer from ‘Matrimony’ was a man called Andy White, who is best known and remembered for being the drummer who played on the first Beatles record, ‘Love Me Do’.
Wow! Great piece of trivia from the legendary man. Thank you dear Gilbert for your music!
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷❤️❤️
I love this one Gilbert , you look so young on here....you said a while back I could contact on your WhatsApp , but I couldn't find you. Had on Whats in a kiss earlier today....your voice is just so sublime , makes me think of my childhood and being happy 😊...always makes me smile 😁 xx
Actually some black bloke insists he did all the drumming on the first 4 albums? I watched a 4 hour documentry exposing the Beatles as frauds.
Love You 🌸 Once everything that calls for attention is stripped away. Once I myself is stripped away from all this banter of attention through all my years of differing focus as I advance in years of irrigating this place with the totality of my mitt mark. The one that is left to supersede in the cosmic equation.
My finest and sacred producing’s are unequivocally the children of my loins.
That’s the richest of achievements any being’s purpose can be defined by.
Why should my folly of focus be so fragile as to ever allow this truth be lessened with any wakens of any fashion of any day of any way? The why of this is the minds poison of which every suffering gains root .
It’s diss- allusion is like a maze once you enter you hardly can be freed of. Till your dusk has arrived and dust you dissolve as promise from the cosmic blessings of a free fresh opening for the footprint of man once again.
R.P.
To see this video now in HD is an amazing experience. It looks incredible, and I’ll be sure to use this on the big screen at my concerts in the future! Thank you @BMGUK for bringing this video to life , and thank-you to everyone for joinng me today to watch it
Why on earth did they put you on a river's quay?!
@@RWillemM Probably because of the superb bridge in the melody of this song!
Don’t forget the girls in their tank tops
Board Gais Sept 2022😁

I’m a songwriter and I’ve been trying to write like this for years, the guy is a genius.
Catchy is a very apt word to describe that number...
This man wrote many songs that stand head and shoulders with any of the greats, he's a songwriting genius!.
I'm 56.always liked this song.thank you.
What a magnificent song. Just class. The writing, the musicianship, the performance. Respect. Real respect
When the Beatles finished, thank God Gilbert came along.
I love this song.
I first met him in 1971 at church in Walton on Thames, what a humble, lovely feller.
Still go and see him in concert every year, and what a conceft he puts on.
He always stays behind and meets every audience member queuing up to see him, what a gent, what a talent.
My favourite singer/song writer.
Kelvin.
Something that begins with "M" and ends in "alas" (a lass?) Priceless lyric! People just don't write lyrics like that anymore, more's the pity.
Only heard this last week and the lyrics reminded me of myself and my husband's wedding day last December. Only day it snowed so we were like two frozen peas 😂
Over 50 years ago an 18 year old girl and a 20 year old man rushed around their flat getting ready to go to the registry office for their wedding ceremony at 9'15 on a cold December morning. This song played on the radio making them laugh and easing the tension. They did indeed turn up like two frozen peas! Ray, you're still in their lives because every time they hear this song the memories of that happy morning floods back!
Wonderful❤
What a wonderful, evocative story. It's just come to life in my head with your tale and this song, words and tune. How utterly lovely
thank you
Under-rated and Under- appreciated musician.
His songs always make me smile ☺
Ireland's most under rated songwriter.
Back in 2009 my youngest Daughter Clair married her sweetheart Dean and yes I as her proud Dad gave her away. At the night do Clair and me took to the dance floor to dance to no other but Gilbert O'Sullivan and Matrimony a moment i will cherish forever. We've both had the pleasure of seeing Gilbert in concert a number of times and had the pleasure of meeting him afterwards too. The guy is a gentleman and a true songwriting genius! Matrimony will always be a song close to both of our hearts.
First I'm hearing this song today. Gilbert, you are a class act!
Nice one Gilbert. I'm 62. We had a kitchen disco, and your music gave us joy. Naturally.
If your looking for inspiration. Then look no further.Gilbert was and still is the masterclass in songwriting.

Hehe 🎵👃👌👏💪💯
My dad used to play the entire Album back to 1975...I was such a very young French lad of 8 years old starting playing piano...but this groove always stuck in my head...Thanks Dad for your great taste of music...
this man is a genius.
This is my pick me up song,
What a class tune thank you Gilbert 😊 👏
Fantastic song. You rarely see songwriting of this calibre anymore, with the marriage of a catchy melody to intelligent and witty lyrics. God bless you, Ray.
Hello ,how are you doing,i will like us to be friends and get to know about each other
@@davidmoore9150 Sorry, David. I’m married.
@@beckyzwhite 😄😄😄👍
these songs are as beautiful and relevant as when they were first written and released
Watched this on daytime tv at the time
Brilliant, there should be an award for making “frozen peas” work in a song. I had not heard this before, and I am excited to think that there are more gems like this one out there. Thanks very much for posting this.
Hmmm..allways thought it was bees...:) But there you go...!
My grandad loved this man and his music it’s been 12 years now he has gone but hearing this he is right next to me listening along thank you ❤️
Childhood memories. Brilliant. Today's music can't hold a candle to this.
Truly brilliant song writer

My mum had this on what you would nowadays call a repeat loop. The lyrics are as ever top notch. Gilbert kissed the Blarney Stone. I love the James Last’eske orchestration.

Greatings from Malmö Sweden! I'm 42 years old and i love your music. Beautifull video! Monica.
Hola.
What a fun song. It had me moving right along.
I don't believe I've ever heard it before. Thank you for turning me onto it.
It is never late if happiness is good!
Absolute genius!
Great songwriter! ❤️
The summer that I was 19 yrs old I played Gilbert's album "Himself" over & over....could not get enough of his voice....the very 1st time I heard "Alone Again Naturally" on the radio I thought it was Paul McCartney singing, to me they had very similar tones....anyway I have many of Gilbert's albums & cds....he is wonderful : ))))))))
I also find there's a similarity with what Macca sung at the time. Similarities and quality.
@@fireatheart Yes, so very true : )
Dam you Simon Mayo for playing this on greatest hits radio yesterday, haven't heard it in ages, now can't stop playing it, proper feel good tune.
When i was young and heard this song for the first time i thought it was Paul Macca. Both for the voice and the songwriting.
very cool - beautiful unique video Idea, playing piano singing on a dock!
Just makes me happy
All i can Gilbert is that your songs are like a fine wine just gets better with age thanks for the good memories...
Gilbert is a talented genius!
Super-groovy song to this day. There should be a GO'S opera with all the great man's songs therein.
dig it baby, love it for sure. Thank You so much LonnieRay
You and me are all that matter, disregard the rest!
Trust your soon-to-be Old Man, he knows what is best!
What a sweet video ❤
Gilbert, I did not know you had your own channel. Instant 'subscribed'. You're a musical treasure, thank you for sharing your gift. I probably only know most of your radio airplay songs embarrassed to admit, but I'll know many more now.
I've always loved this song. Hearing it again just makes you want to dance. There I was, doing the samba around the kitchen ........ well in my head I was anyway.
Absolute Classic album...up there with all the greats! I completely wore out the needle with this gem. Huge congrats Gilbert!
Simply beautiful!

The much maligned Gilbert O'Sullivan......................in my lifetime and experience anyway. I defy anyone who can produce a genius pop track of the same standard today, nevermind the sentiment being expressed. Good on ya' Gilbert. Brilliant.
Such a dull day in England, I put this on and feel like the whole world lit and brightened up! Such a feel good song! :)
Found him by chance but very glad I'm here
Rare video that should be preserved permanently at the British Museum!!!!
I've always loved this. Perfect rhymes and rhythm.

Beautiful song, Mr. Sullivan. You're a great singer. Thanks for your music.
I always come back to this video when I have an anxiety attack. It really helps me. Thank you ❤️
I used to dance around the living room to this with my mum when I was a child. Brings back lovely memories. My mum passed away in 2018, so memories (like this song bring me) make me smile now.
I loved this even more! Why am I only hearing these after all those years!
Hi Gilbert, this is the first time I've heard this song. I really dig it, it's got a very jaunty and exotic Latin feel to it. My parents' 53rd anniversary was yesterday and they love Latin and Bossa Nova music like Santana and Sergio Mendes, so I'll send this to them. :)
a very happy song
Your songs and MAD magazine thought me English. I will always be grateful for that.
Musical Genius love Filbert O’Sullivan. Thankyou 💙🦢💙
ive had this on my pcs for years, nice to see it in better quality now, taken me back to my childhood thanks so much gilbert for all the great music you have prodused for us to listen to.many thanks again your very talented.
