Andy back again with another monster painting tutorial!
This time we're taking on Karazai the Scarred, one of the two big dragons released by Games Workshop. This may be a new release but Karazai and his brother Krondys are some of the oldest characters in Age of Sigmar's mortal realms. Built from the same box, these two dragons can look intimating to tackle, but this tutorial will show you how to paint them both fast and effectively so you can unleash their full power across the battlefield as soon as possible! Play them as leaders of your Stormcast Eternals army, use them in a D&D campaign or simply display them as stunning models on your shelf.
    Primers used:
    Chaos Black
    Grey Seer (zenithal)
    Paints used:
    Gryph Hound Orange (contrast)
    Blood Angels Red (contrast)
    Skeleton Horde (contrast)
    Gore Grunta Fur (contrast)
    Evil Sunz Scarlet (base)
    Kindleflame (dry)
    Palliid Wych Flesh (layer)
    Ulthuan Grey (layer)
    Carroburg Crimson (shade)
    Screamer Pink (base)
    Zandri Dust (layer)
    Screaming Skull (layer)
    Lothern Blue (layer)
    Pink Horror (layer)
    Gore-Grunta Fur (contrast)

Great video thanks. Kindle flame seems to be discontinued from gw. What colour would you use instead?

Emmm I’m not sure actually. Some kind of pinky red.

Cool tutorial, would love to see some videos without the use of contrast paints. I like the idea behind them - to help people without the time to do a proper paintjob, but with contrast paints you will always get some stains - as example on the dragons chest you see a big skeleton horde stain which you can't overpaint

I get you. If you are to quick you can indeed get some unwanted pooling. But going a little slower you can for sure grab those spots before they dry.

Good vid! Was thinking of painting my dragon more of an emerald colour with contrast and drybrushing. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Maybe do some tests with warp lighting contrast see if that hits the tones your after. But we can for sure look at try get the colours locked in for you.

I think the miniature should be a bit bigger. I will proxy me a bigger 3D dragon and play him as the real big boss :D

Your a madman. He is huge. Any bigger and he would take up to much space lol

@@MediocreHobbies there is still space left on the 160mm base :D
I don't know - biggest and most badasses dude from the storm cast. Should at least be 5-10cm higher. Especially for what U pay for this mini.

Using the same method, what colors would you have used for Krondys?

    • @MediocreHobbies
      @MediocreHobbies  2 роки тому

That’s a tough one. Just start from a dark blue contrast and then dry brush up with brighter blues as you go. Trust the process more then the colours of that makes sence.

Hey Andy, I am starting a new Stormcast army and can't find a recipe for Knights Excelsior that I like. Any tips? I know it's a little off the current topic

      Ye man so I would.
Spray black then grey seer zenith Like my normal videos.
Contrast white all over the armour. Make sure wit doesn’t pool anywhere.
When it drys give the armour a drybrush of Praxeti White. And that’s how I would probably leave the white. Mite weather later.
Nice rich blue for the Pauldrons and shields what ever tone you like. Gold trim. Then wash the blue and gold with probably a purple wash. Then later then back up. Slightly brighter blue and make a light silver for the gold.
Does that make sense/answer your question?
