Great video not enough painters show how to use contrast paints in an artistic way. I appreciate your no frills approach and beginner friendly process.
While i'll never own this model, I really enjoyed this video because gave me ideas on how to paint squigs cause my army has to be different than the books. Great video!!
Awesome! I love ur use of contrast paints. Any plans to do the Stardrake? I know it’s an older model but it’s one of my favorite dragons and there arnt any other full tutorials for it anywhere
Is that primer really wraithbone. It looks way too white to me. When I prime with it, it is more brown. Is there a chance that that is corax white or something? I would love to know.
Very nice one ! I would like, rather than making the dragon in blue, to paint him in purple, like spyro :D What colors would you use if you would have to switch the blue for a nice purple ? I already started by painting the back, wings and back of the tail with daemonette hide, I hope I didnt made any mistakes as I really dont wanna mess up a 120€ mini D:
Interesting question - for a Spyro colour you'd be looking at Xereus Purple and Genestealer Purple - the contrast paints don't really have a colour suitable so techniques would also be different - and don't worry - you can always re paint :)
@@ThePaintingCoach As of right now, in terms of purple paints, I have barak-nar Burgundy, druchii violet, grey seer (kind of ?), magos purple, shyish purple and slaanesh grey.
So what kind of paint did you use? I have my brands but they are pretty basic and this paint looks thinner. I need to paint this 3 header for my son's 19th birthday.
Beautiful painting workcraft loves the creative dragons painted but I liked it more without the armours dragon looks so much likes as a wild creature in nature but armour steal looks good
How the heck is your wraithbone primer so white? When I primed Karazai it was waaaayy more of a bone color. I can even spot the difference in your Karazai video, the primed Krondys is way more white than the primed Karazai. Also, when painting with blue, doesnt GW recommend the grey contrast primer. I dont want to use a primer I am unsure of working on my Krondys. Is that for sure wraithbone we are talking about?
Yes 100% wraithbone - the light difference is probably down to a change in lighting setup between filming. Wraithbone gives you warmer colours, the grey gives you colder. To get the effect in the video you need to go with the warmer tones so wraithbone it is
I love how you split the video screen into 2 or 3 panels to show multiple areas at once!
Thanks!
I'm glad you decide to paint Krondys, cause his colors are awesome
Yeah he is great
Great video not enough painters show how to use contrast paints in an artistic way. I appreciate your no frills approach and beginner friendly process.

Fantastic use of Contrast feathering! Thanks
Cheers glad you liked it!
Because of you my paint skills and my dragons look great thank you for the all the guides it helps
Cheers Daniel - that's awesome!
Very helpful. Having trouble with glazing techniques so this will be what I try next. Going to apply this lesson to the DnD Wrath of Ashardalon model.
Excellent - let me know how it goes!
Fantastic job. The transitions between the colours are really something.
Cheers mate :)
Te ha quedado muy guapo enhorabuena
Gracias!
Really nice job, the colors really blended well together
Cheers Tim
This looks so good! I plan on using this tutorial once this handsome fellow comes back in stock.
Cheers! Hope it's back soon!
Absolutely stunning! I loved how you blended with the dry brush of wraith bone and also the feathering with water, it looks fantastic.
Thanks! Just working on Karazai now as well!
@@ThePaintingCoach Nice! Can't wait to see that.
Will be out tonight

Just wanted to comment to help you with the algorithm cause i love your content the best on youtube also wish you happy holidays sir
Thank you so much - same to you!
Such a good video! Thank you!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Great tutorial! I'm actually going to use this for my Kruleboyz Troggoth, as I haven't been able to figure out a scheme for him.
Thanks! Sounds like a cool idea - i'll keep an eye out for the finished version!
Holy warp speed dry brush!
😬🤣
Hi TPC… great work, you are a genius!
Thanks Juan!
Amazing work
Thanks!
@@ThePaintingCoach my pleasure
Absolutely gorgeous!!
Thanks for this. Do you happen to have one for the new Stormdrakes planned?
Cheers Doug - not at the moment
I love dragons, i love this video :)
Thanks Stephen - appreciate it!

No probably not - i will do the red dragon this weekend though
This is absolutely amazing! Will 100% follow your guide for when I paint mine. Will you be doing a guide for Karazai?
Thanks! I hope it helps! If I can get hold of one - it looks like they are out of stock at the moment
Oh it absolutely will! Just makes me wanna get on with mine now! Ah thats fair haha
Awesome tutorial! What's the big white brush you're using? Is it a Citadel Synthetic Base Brush - X-Large? Thanks
I honestly can't remember, but that sounds right
I will copy that master!
Hi there, thanks for the video. Bought the colours and the figure but I can't find the longer version at your patreon. Am I blind?
Let me double check and I will DM you through Patreon 👍🏻
Love the video my dude. If you were to paint the scales black, how would you do that?
Probably contrast black templar - 2 coats and maybe some eshin grey then dawnstone to highlight - for a neutral black
@@ThePaintingCoach I we’ll try that. Thanks you. Keep up the amazing work
Will do!
@@ThePaintingCoach sorry to ask, what method would you use the eshin grey?
Soft dry brush
Very nice work. How long did you need?
Thanks! About 8-9 hours using a hairdryer to dry the contrast paint
might be a very basic question, but whats your go to method to get for example the 3 to 1 part paints together?
Depends what I am using paint wise for contrast I use a dropper or pippet to measure it out - otherwise I just use brushfulls
@@ThePaintingCoach wow, such a fast and nice answer. Thank you so much for taking the time to get back at me.
No problem 😁
Use red and black, and paint the bad dragon mascott. There, done, you have the best possible dragon painted.
this vid has made me brave enough to buy my first storm cast box as teh dragon and stuff used to scare me and this doesnt look to hard
Awesome 👍🏻
how did u paint the blackish scales on the leg ? abaddon and the highlight?
Same as the scales on the back 👍🏻 Abaddon Black, Mechanicus Grey, Administratum Grey
@@ThePaintingCoach thx for answering:D
No problem!
Look great as always, I knew you woudn't disapoint, hope you do more dragons colors and I'm curious what's your take on the tempest lords.
Thanks glad you liked it - no idea if I will do more yet
Are you doing one for Karazai too?
Looks like he is out of stock due to the chest issue, so will see!
Is it possible to use strongly diluted skeleton horde instead of aggaros dunes?
Is that primer really wraithbone. It looks way too white to me. When I prime with it, it is more brown. Is there a chance that that is corax white or something? I would love to know.
Definitely wraithbone - it is probably the lights making it appear lighter!
Very nice one !

This is all done with citadel paint - the thin paint is citadel contrast paint 👍🏻
I love that dragon. No doubt. But the price is quite high. I'm not sure if I'm going to buy one.
Uff youre Videos make me to paint more and more Strormcast ^^^

We need more dragons! Im scared to paint my dragons because Im not sure what to do and how to use the colors.
(Noob at painting)
I hope the video helps! A good tip is to practice on spare parts!
Step 1: Don't get intimidated.
me: Fuck....
🤣
With all respect I still like the work you have done but dragon look better without humans armour which is nice i do have powersuit in my story 😊😊
