I can only buy 1 thing from my ‘problem area categories’ this year. Christina Mychas helped me identify my problem areas where I was spending too much and instead of a no buy which I find too restrictive, I’m going the whole year of 22 and only buying one from each area. I’m also saving ideas for purchases as screenshots and created an album called 2022 Wishlist. At end of year I will make the selections.
I’m doing a low-buy too. Similar rules - only buying replacement products if I run out of something completely, nothing that is a want versus a need. The first week was very, very hard. But now I feel like I’m getting into a bit of a rhythm where my intense feelings to buy something all the time have subsided considerably. My ‘why’ is that I want to buy myself a condo. So instead of imagining myself in a cool new outfit or something, I imagine myself in a beautiful home of my own. It really helps shift my mindset away from immediate wants to long term priorities. I think if you don’t have the ‘why’ you are going to find that more difficult.
Oh thank you for this 😭 I have a hard time with this, my mind over worries about not having backup of something. I need to remember I must Finnish something first
When I was a kid I didn't have many things but i was happy . Later i got a good hotel mgmt job in Dubai made good money for 12 years .bought lot of stuff . Fell into depression . Fast fwd 2020. Left Dubai. Found Sophie Sold 80% of my stuff . Feeling like i got my childhood happiness again . I want this happiness to last till I kick the bucket . Thank goi Sophie . I love you . God bless you for helping me . My angel .
I am glad I was brought up by minimalist parents therefore, low buy rules are nothing new for me. I do believe that most people realised that living below your means is priceless ❤️ Thank you for your insights ❤️
Oh my Sophie I donated so much last year and looking at the amount I donated I realized how much money I paid for it.This year essentials only and saving my money but self care is my #1 priority without spending too much.Great challenge, let’s do it❤️
I'm also doing a low-buy year. I won't buy new clothes, only replacements are allowed. I skip buying new books, I read what I already have and use library. I also try to avoid buying new homedecor. I'm going to do some decluttering in this year. Thank you for inspiring videos and Greetings from Finland 🙂.
I started organizing and decluttering so I know my inventory so I don’t double buy things. I’ve noticed I gravitate towards the same pair of jeans, and same pair of sunglasses etc With that said, my low buy rule: be intentional with everything I purchase.
In my challenge, I narrowed it down to 6 months with monthly goals attached to each of the six months. For example a January-June 2022 challenge and then after revisiting what went well or did not go well, I will then do another challenge for the remainder of the year. This method works for me because I am a full-time working single mom with a child who has special needs and so in doing challenges his services, therapies, and needs HAVE to come first. There is nothing I will not try to make my child's life a beautiful one so his care is a no-matter-what and at-any-cost for me (if that makes sense). All else such as clothing, impulse buys, and social media; I decrease significantly. I start by taking a look in my closet and get a clearer picture of what I do not need. I seldom go out so that helps a lot in my decisions. Same with the WHY to impulse buying. Most times I buy something impulsively but do not feel happiness anyway. The same with UA-cam (which is my only social media) and I unsubscribe to channels that no longer fit who I am attempting to be. Thank you for this video!
As a working student, I work really hard to balance my work life and college life, and I'm so grateful to learn early on how to spend my hard-earned money wisely. As always, thanks for sharing this to the world, Sophie!
“Use what I have” is impressive to me. that is right. Every week I threw away several food stuff I bought recently.. without using.. I will use all what I have .. thanks
Found your channel recently and omg you are me ! And I am you ! I deeply value minimalism, Intentionality without compromising on fashion but I've been struggling with mindless consumption of everything tbh. I did a complete 180 and have been doing a no buy this year and what I have been feeling is so drastic ! I'm 6 months in and I can't even believe I used to buy so impulsively. I did a huge declutter and was left with warm toned neutrals. And I have been using my Pinterest board to find fashion inspiration. Your style is the closest to what I found I naturally gravitate towards , especially for warmer months ! I naturally and truly feel more comfortable in neutrals with this cozy, carefree island vibe ❤️❤️. Love your content Sophie, your voice is so relaxing too !!
I'm also doing a low buy year the same year as my wedding! Haha. My exceptions are: replacement items, gifts (given and received), farewell dinner and drinks with friends, one outfit for my wedding ceremony. I'm wearing the same thing my mom wore on her wedding with a few alterations :) I will also be moving to a new country and setting up a new home. It'll definitely be a challenge but I'm excited to try it out! Inspired by you, I'll also be documenting my journey every month
My low buy goal this year is on clothes, bags and shoes. I decluttered recently and I have a lot of unused clothes, shoes and bags. Also, it took a chunky portion of my budget that I ended up selling some items.
Each time I watched your VDO about no buy / minimal living, it reset my habit to stop buy and gave me inspiration to declutter. Please post more VDO !!!!
My rules are to not buy any clothing, makeup, soaps, household items etc I am so blessed to have all that I have and need to appreciate it more. Good luck to everyone @!!
For this year I have done a massive declutter and realized I need no new clothe, finally! Along the yeara, I have managed to work on my colour pallete and personal style and right now I have enough for the next years. After doing my numbers, I have noticed that all the money that was going to clothe and shoes is enough to pay me a trip overseas to visit my friends and family plus investing in therapy so this will keep me motivated, I have a big Why and I can easily see that my dream of spending the next new years overseas with loved friends is much more important than another pair of shoes or a piece of clothe I dont actually need.
I am attempting a low buy again this year because I think I am better prepared to do it this year. I have learned from the mistakes that I made last year (succumbing to temptations from influencers who I will be unfollowing), so I hope it will be more successful. I will be writing down my goals (paying off student loans and saving towards investments). 🙏🏽💕
7:35 - When you mentioned about Portuguese, it caught my attention because I'm Brazilian 😅 Most people nowadays are interested in learning Portuguese, and it makes me feel happy, since most of them focus on Brazilian Portuguese.
My why is to reduce my environmental impact, which is the over arching guidance for purchases. Questions I ask myself are 1. Is it a need? If so can I get it as a quality item that is eco friendly and can someone else benefit from it when I no longer have a use for it. 2. Who will profit from the purchase? Are they someone I believe to support my values. 3. What is its end life? Recycling is not a viable option. 4. If not a need, but a desire, can I see myself benefiting from it in 5 years? 5. Does it cultivate any of the following: clarity, courage, creativity, compassion, curiosity, or health?
Just discovered this! This is amazing. Working in retail. I've realized how much I've been spending on food delivery and shopping. I would love to really replace my consumerism, material attachments to a lifestyle based on high-value pieces that serve my minimalist environment and calmer identity.
I’m not buying any cigarettes as I’ve stopped on 26/10/22 - I’m not buying unnecessary cosmetics and cleaning products for my house I’m not buying clothes unless it’s a very nice authentic linen I’m not wasting food as I’ve been terrible at food waste and I’m sure I will think of other stuff I can do as I practice minimal living my journey has just begun and it’s thanks to you Sophie - I’m looking forward to the challenge of changing my life as I have felt overwhelmed my full life with a cluttered house
My low buy rules are to look for a greener version or something made by a local small business if I do need to get something during the year. And to look for second hand options first too!
Thank you Sophie for the inspiring video my low buy this year is no more snack foods at home. Eating out once a month. Keeping a wishlist. Saving money for a rainy day focusing on my artwork journey goals 💜
I so so agree that knowing where you're redirecting that money is a huge motivation booster! Me I'm spending low and keeping my budget tight because I want to open a private retirement account which motivates me a lot and also some travel!
The aesthetics of your videos are always so beautiful! I did a low buy challenge last year for clothes and books. It went really well and I'm really pleased with it. I'm definitely continuing the challenge this year too. And I'm going to add another category: beauty. Looking forward to joining you on this journey ☺
I have set my no buy items for 2022, they are basically clothes, shoes, facial products, and all the things that I already had enough, unless they are torn or finished using. No more tarot and oracle cards for me!! I've hit the limit where I couldn't take anymore new decks in my drawer. I have also set my let go item list. If I am still not using them in 2022, i will declutter them anytime in this year or maybe end of the year. This year I am investing in myself, in my journey to become a sound healer/therapist. So I will be generous for related courses and instruments. But I think i need to go more detailed such as setting budget for different categories, including self investment, like you did~!! Love this content~
you have inspired me so much. i discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago and i am so thankful that i did. you've inspired me to start a low buy year, implement new and different habits (ie: i now journal with my morning coffee outside!), i've really determined the value of a lot of unnecessary things that i own and have made the decision to declutter and let a lot of things go. I'm only 20, but being organised in my own space and appreciating what i have has always been important to me, but i never realised how much so until i discovered you. i really learned how detrimental consumer culture was last year when i fell into the trap of constantly impulse buying unnecessary things (most of which ive gotten rid of now, hardly used and worn, ironically enough) and wasting so much money due to the effects of being in lockdowns throughout the entire year, so learning about low buy from you and discovering a channel that shared so many likeminded values and mindsets with my own was so refreshing. thank you so much Sophie and love from Australia!
You are the really angle on this earth 🙏 very humble , kind and honest 🌺🌺🌺 I will definitely going to do low buy challenge this year and thank you so much for sharing this 🙏🙏🙏
Hello Sophie-this is exactly what i want to achieve this year..First rule is not to buy clothes and use what i have in my closet...Excellent video content..You’re the best❤️❤️❤️
You had actually introduced this concept to me and I used to spend a lot and accumulate things which eventually lead to unhappiness and irritation.. My low buy rules are similar to yours: Buy only when the bottles are empty, Maintain a budget for things, Think twice before buying anything rather than doing it instantly and regretting later, Things i regret buying or money i regret spending list would keep me on track, Spending less money on product's and switching to some natural alternatives would also save money
I‘m glad you‘ve done this video for 2022. I’m in! I want to start again. I kind of slipped a bit, which is normal, but I want to begin again. I loved it last time and it made so much difference.
Your videos are so inspirational, motivational. Can I also say your voice is so soothing and relaxing! Almost gives off asmr vibes🥰 This is my first time doing a low buy year and I'm excited and ready. Thanks for sharing your tips!😘
Hi Sophie, Good to know your rules, this year I am also taking this challenge, little nervous how it will go, but I think I’ve to keep myself reminded with my ‘why’ for this challenge. Thanks for spreading this awareness. Always love your soothing videos with great messages. 😊
I will be joining the challenge. I learned so much about minimalism from you last year and change my consumer mindset. Thank you for your videos, I wait for every video, they`re so filled with peace and acceptance, what`s really missing in big city life. Keep going!
This is my first year on a low buy. I’m focusing mostly on being mindful in my shopping for clothes and food waste. I do pretty well with makeup and skincare, but I shop for clothes way to often. For me, it because I really don’t know how to mesh my life and my style. I want to get my closet down to only things I love, and slowly build in and replace pieces from here on out. It’s less about the clothes, and more about getting down to who I am.
Hello Sophie! Thank you for the video, which was very helpful. Low Buy didn't work out for January, but it was partly planned to buy one or the other. Basically I do something similar. When my salary comes up, I split it up into savings (nest egg); saving (small emergencies like broken washing machine etc.) and a small part is my fun account for eating out, going to the cinema, city trips and sometimes clothes if needed etc. I probably won't buy shower gel this year :) I have more than enough in reserve - my Guilty Plessure
Goodluck on your low buy year Sophie 🙏 This year I challenged myself to use all the skin care products I inadvertently hoarded before I purchase another item 🥲 I’m also keeping my skin care routine to a “bare minimum” 💋 I also plan on minimizing my consumption of sweetened beverages (which cost as much as a meal ☺️) to lessen my expenses & cut back on sugar 💕
You're video is very calming to watch. I'm profoundly inspired by your beliefs and plans in life. I aspire to be like you someday. 💕 Lately, I've been spending too much on clothes and make up( which is not usual for me since I'm trying to live a simpler life and save for investments) and I'm only doing it for validations and to fit in, and it's stressing me out because even though I'm aware and I don't really like what's happening to me, I couldn't stop myself, but after i watched your video, I'm more amazed by your lifestyle, and I also wanna live like that. Thank you for this wonderful content. I hope we can all achieve our dreams.
Still working the details but for every unnecessary, discretionary purchase I’d like to match that amount to a non-profit donation. So, buy 3 pairs of high-top Chucks on impulse = $150 donation at some point in 2022.
This year I plan on buying things that I will need and use for at least the next few years, I'm just stating my life independently, and as a woman, there's somethings that I still don't have, but like you, I want to talk to myself and discover why I need this, and so evaluate according to my values. I think I once commented here that I'm from Brazil, so if you want, I would love to help you with your Portuguese!
I came across your channel today and watched your videos. I subscribed because you are a deep person. I never watch other self improvement channels. They are not for me. Will keep watching. Best of luck on all your journeys.
Sophie, love your channel! I am in for low buy challenge 2022! I consider myself already at the low buy person. This year my challenge is no new clothing items. No limitation on grocery. Minimal dining out. Mindful daily and household items. Since me and my boyfriend who is vegan, love cooking at home and enjoy eating at home. My spending/investment is to pay for Spanish tuition. So let’s see how I do this year. Excited!
I just watched some Dave Ramsey videos (I watch because I want to understand knowledge and different ways to save and such) and now I am watching this video. This is god telling me I NEED to be better at my finances,my life and goals I want for my future. last year I stumbled up one a Sinking Fund video and I was able to save with that, but I know I can do better. I just need some help and push to be better. So thank you for this video
Starting the low buy year three things I'm going to do decluter my home donate give sell. Declutter digiitally unsubscibe from lots of things limit only once a week dining out . Will put all this on my phone in detail so I can refer frequently !!
Great tips on low buy Sophie, I will have to rewatch the vlog and make some notes. I think that the low buy concept is second nature to me. Frugality is my lingua franca. Years ago I convinced my wife to realign our spending priorities, in that I switched the bill paying to her, as I am the saver and she is the spender. It worked, as years later we have a house and vehicles. I like the budgeting for specific areas and will start with that for this month, but the sweets no I am not there yet.
Hi Sophie I am also doing a low buy challenge this year. And I am glad that you shared your thoughts on this topic. Love from India 😊 You are my favorite UA-camr
I just love this gal - no, not in that way, silly - I mean her view of life and who she is becoming! And how she’s helping many to gain a new perspective too!
Im trying out minimalism and decluttering and benig more mindful of what I but, and why I buy things. Trying to organize my working scheduale too might change my working hours in an attempt as self care. Think i am slowly burning out… so Ian trying to find ways to feel better again.
I’m gonna join you for the challenge Sophie! I’m so tired of eating out so much. During covid times, it’s not wise to eat out anyway. I’m also tired of eating junk food. Less is more!
im doing a low buy year, but also breaking it into months! honestly, im really motivated to do this as we're planning to buy a home and our wedding is this year so we'll have some major expenses. So far I'm doing well by creating a tracker, using and appreciating what I have, and also asking myself if this will contribute to my long term happiness :) if not, then it can wait or i dont need it. i want to be selective in what i bring into my life/spend my money on! cant wait to follow your journey this year, sophie! u always inspire me
I'm also doing a low buy challenge this year and the tips you gave are really good ones. When I took stock of how much shopping for nonessentials I did on Amazon last year - I shocked myself. I've already gone a month without spending on anything except food and it really feels great to be in control. Thank you so much and your video is beautiful.
No buys for me this year - unhealthy snacks at home - makeup (a big one for me, got rid of so much unused makeup last year) Tips for me...create an honest & realistic budget for things like eating out( monthly), clothes shopping( quarterly, with no pressure to purchase) if I don't use it by the end of that quarter push it into the next quarter 😊 Groceries (weekly)
This is a really great video! It's the first of yours I watched, and I subscribed quickly. Your content it going to be very useful for my life! I wrote down the points you shared and my own personal "why" and thoughts and plans on them. I really like how you present it, as well. 😊
I am working on being more mindful of purchases I make (do I really need them? How will they improve my life?) and how they are made. Are they sustainably made? Are their employees paid well? etc. It helps that this also limits the options I have, so I can't spend as much!
I put myself on a nobuy for cosmetics through 2020-2021 cos lets face it we really didnt need as much makeup anymore and i already had an excessive amount! This year im doing a no/low buy on clothes, shoes/bags, household decor, makeup/skincare. I will be shopping from my stash (because i buy in bulk or multiples) and replacing items one for one and only buying something new when i need it. Im giving myself monthly progress and going to checkin on my goals every quarter. I deleted all my shopping apps on my phone except a couple like amazon that i might need for time to time. I like your idea of a wishlist and i think i may start one and see how i go.
I am already a low buying person,Sophie.I only have money when I sell our piglets.I am a backyard hog raising so,it took a month before the mamma pig gave birth. So,my money comes only in a quarterly of the year, that's why I am a low buying person.I buy only what I needed.Sometimes,I splurge, but only minimal.
My low buy for this year is no online shopping for clothes they don't fit or the colour mismatch.eating out only twice in a month.writing in my monthly journal before buying an item
I love your videos. They are so motivational. Every time I’ve moved I have realized how many unnecessary items I own and get rid of things. This last time I thought we had so few things that we could live in a van, yet still I find things to donate🤯lol. I have been clearing closets and realized I need to write down goals. This will be an interesting low buy year because we have a baby on the way, but I know it is completely possible. I think it will be good to train our little one to have this mind set. I grew up with very little but it’s so easy to be influenced by people, adds, etc. I constantly need to work on filtering all that out. Even the Bible advises to “Keep a simple eye..” I look forward to this years challenge.
Hi Sophie from Canada. You're the first and probably only UA-cam channel I'll ever subscribe to. Your messaging and content is so relatable to me currently and very much appreciate your sharing.
Such an inspiring video! There are always so much advertising calling to us about better products and stuff to make our life picture perfect. I have not made it past one low buy month, but improvement not perfection…
i'd not say this topic is my kind of topic, but i feel your opening of the contents are great, very clear on goals, no matter how different people's lifestyles are. you're so persistent on this challenge, if it was me, i would have given up lol🤣
Hi Sophie 💗 I recently discovered your channel... It's amazing and inspirational! I have always suffered from over shopping due to anxiety...but your calming voice and nature is so inspiring. I just finished decluttering my room...and realised how much stuff I had bought that only gave me that instant gratification and not long term joy. I want to start the minimalist journey too. Thank you so much🤗🌸
you have no idea how lucky and wonderful that I found you even it's a short time I know you from few videos but you inspire me a lot. I was so confused and want something to comfort me that everything is gonna be okay I'm not lost. This year must be a good adventure 💗 btw I'm INFJ tho 😭 you must be the best version of INFJ so proud!
I love this. Tomorrow is my 25th birthday and I have decided not to drink for the entire year of 2022. I want to build out my van home, work in film and tv and live life to the fullest. Life is too beautiful to be distracted from it with alcohol and spending money on things that don't matter. Love the video!
Lovely video Sophie, as always. I had no idea you were learning Portuguese! I'm Portuguese, we can talk in Portuguese if you would like to practice :) Bom ano novo :)
I have a few wardrobe things I will be buying to replace worn out/holey clothes. I will be getting a sweater just to keep warm since I dont really have a sweater. I will not be buying anymore make up palettes I have more than enough as is so, I will just use up what I have. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the gentle reminder that most of us need..! =) For me, I definitely need to stop buying junk/processed foods and having it around. Eliminating that, or at least minimizing it and redirecting the money used for those splurges definitely helps in multiple aspects. I'm glad that I don't just buy clothes and shoes without a purpose, but that's more because I literally don't have the room in the budget.. Still a good thing though. I tend to waste money on other hobbies though even though I actually enjoy them. I justify it by saying "Well, I don't waste money on smoking, drinking, gambling or vices like that, so I should be able to spend money on __________ ." I also need to get a gym membership sometime in the future. (and actually go..!)
inspiring. thank you. Greetings from Malaysia were consumerism is exploding, specially during the pandemic and increased opportunities on e-commerce and online platforms poping up.
Im portuguese and i love your videos and channel. Im really happy that you are learning Portuguese. If you need help, you can count on me ;) Wish you the best! Happy 2022!
Thank you so much for your input& tips! Luckily, I was brought up simply& frugal and taught not to value materialism, as it only brings short term happiness. I spend time in prayer and nature instead of shopping to deal with stress or avoidance.
That video inspired me to start a LBY too. I will make my rules this night. Your videos give me so much peace, thanks. And super excited about your portuguese too haha
My husband and I have been doing a low buy for the past oh, 3 years. Just honestly because we have so much to make us happy and found living below your means is the best way to save money. We bought a modest house ( we could have gone bigger but why) and don't eat out, don't have any subscription services and I make coffee at home. I have all the house stuff I need plus clothes and bags. I went to drug store makeup and skincare for the most part. Little things add up. Now, with all that, being a home owner, our roof and plumbing in the backyard needed repairs close together and we can easily pay for it. Having an emergency fund is so important, especially if you have a house. It becomes a lifestyle after awhile and I can't imagine going back. I get my clothes off Thredup, so much more fun and cheaper than buying new. I also have no social media besides YT so I'm not subject to influencers etc.
I think you're doing it right. It's so true that living below our means is the way to go. I'm starting to appreciate and use all the things that I have and it's been great. Thanks for your comment
What are some of YOUR low buy rules this year?
*I will pay myself first out of my paycheck and that will go in my savings; I want to save atleast 60% of it.* 😊💕
stuff for my house - I really don't need anymore stuff.
Home decor, clothes, makeup, earrings, fast food, exspensive restaurants.
Makeup....
Ever since I’ve stopped buying unnecessary stuff, I’ve never been happier.
Agree with this completely!
Sooo true 👍
I am on the same path and it's the same with me . Rather I feel I bought too much for future which never arrived . Rather an expiry date arrived.
‘Is this purchase helping or harming me’ - my 2024 mantra ☺️👏🏽👏🏽
It helps me a ton!! ❤️
💜 awesome & thanks for sharing
I’m doing a low-buy too. Similar rules - only buying replacement products if I run out of something completely, nothing that is a want versus a need. The first week was very, very hard. But now I feel like I’m getting into a bit of a rhythm where my intense feelings to buy something all the time have subsided considerably. My ‘why’ is that I want to buy myself a condo. Oh thank you for this 😭 I have a hard time with this, my mind over worries about not having backup of something.
I need to remember I must Finnish something first
This is helpful!

🥺❤ happy for you!!!!
I am glad I was brought up by minimalist parents therefore, low buy rules are nothing new for me. I do believe that most people realised that living below your means is priceless ❤️ Thank you for your insights ❤️
Spend where you see value, save where you don’t ❤️ love it Sophie
Yes!! 🧡
Oh my Sophie I donated so much last year and looking at the amount I donated I realized how much money I paid for it.This year essentials only and saving my money but self care is my #1 priority without spending too much.Great challenge, let’s do it❤️

that's such a good idea! I will do that, 6 months seem way less intimidating and it's amazing to pre-commit to reflection

This was immensely helpful! I particularly love the idea of changing your identity - this is something I've definitely been working on too xx
Thanks Immy 😊 I watched your low buy recap for last year and found it so inspiring
Good for you!! congratulations on your wedding 🧡
BonJour 💕
My low buy goal this year is on clothes, bags and shoes. I decluttered recently and I have a lot of unused clothes, shoes and bags. Also, it took a chunky portion of my budget that I ended up selling some items.
Decluttering is the best way to realize what we don't need :) good luck to you
I love content about minimalism and thoughtful purchases, and I am really happy to follow your channel ! Your content is peaceful and aesthetic!
I love that! gratitude changes our perspective 🥰
❤️ yes!! I love that. I feel better prepared too

7:35 - When you mentioned about Portuguese, it caught my attention because I'm Brazilian 😅
Most people nowadays are interested in learning Portuguese, and it makes me feel happy, since most of them focus on Brazilian Portuguese.
My why is to reduce my environmental impact, which is the over arching guidance for purchases.
Questions I ask myself are
I am doing my first low buy year in 2022 ! I would like to pay off my debts and build an emergency fund 🤞 - Catherine from France
love how calming you are
aw thank you!
Your videos especially your voice and the bg music you select are so very peaceful.. Sometimes I just play the videos to relax myself
aw thank you so much :)
Me I'm spending low and keeping my budget tight because I want to open a private retirement account which motivates me a lot and also some travel!
very refreshing videos that put everything in perspective. Lots of wisdom here. Thank you
❤️ thank you!
Love this content~
best of luck in becoming a healer/therapist!! 🥰
Would love un update on this Sophie! Your videos are soo calming. Always enjoy them ❤
Watching the first minute alone was just breathtaking
I have always been so intimidated to do one of these. But the idea of doing it month to month is helpful!
It's been working well for me
you have inspired me so much. i discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago and i am so thankful that i did. you've inspired me to start a low buy year, implement new and different habits (ie: i now journal with my morning coffee outside!), i've really determined the value of a lot of unnecessary things that i own and have made the decision to declutter and let a lot of things go.
I am so happy to hear that! and how amazing you realized this at 20 :) this would've saved me a lot of money. Wishing you all the best.
I'm so happy to hear that :)
You had actually introduced this concept to me and I used to spend a lot and accumulate things which eventually lead to unhappiness and irritation..
My low buy rules are similar to yours:
Buy only when the bottles are empty,
Maintain a budget for things,
Think twice before buying anything rather than doing it instantly and regretting later,
Things i regret buying or money i regret spending list would keep me on track,
Spending less money on product's and switching to some natural alternatives would also save money
❤️ thank you so much! really sweet of you :)
I really resonated with your rule number 2- use what I have. I think I will try a 6 month low buy challenge. Thanks for the inspirations! :)
Hi Sophie,
Good to know your rules, this year I am also taking this challenge, little nervous how it will go, but I think I’ve to keep myself reminded with my ‘why’ for this challenge. Thanks for spreading this awareness. Always love your soothing videos with great messages. 😊
Very useful. I can see how you’re drawing through your wisdom from hard won lessons into this year! Thank you for sharing ❣️
I will be joining the challenge. I learned so much about minimalism from you last year and change my consumer mindset. Thank you for your videos, I wait for every video, they`re so filled with peace and acceptance, what`s really missing in big city life. Keep going!
I'm so happy that you'll be joining me for the challenge
This is my first year on a low buy. I’m focusing mostly on being mindful in my shopping for clothes and food waste. I do pretty well with makeup and skincare, but I shop for clothes way to often. For me, it because I really don’t know how to mesh my life and my style. I want to get my closet down to only things I love, and slowly build in and replace pieces from here on out. It’s less about the clothes, and more about getting down to who I am.
Yes!!! 🧡 love this so much. I think you have the right mindset
Same here. Clothes and food are my the biggest expensive.. 😔
#Inspiring
Hello Sophie! Thank you for the video, which was very helpful. Low Buy didn't work out for January, but it was partly planned to buy one or the other. Basically I do something similar. When my salary comes up, I split it up into savings (nest egg); saving (small emergencies like broken washing machine etc.) and a small part is my fun account for eating out, going to the cinema, city trips and sometimes clothes if needed etc. I probably won't buy shower gel this year :) I have more than enough in reserve - my Guilty Plessure
I think I’ll try this as well:3 I’m saving up for a trip to Japan next summer as well as my last college semester.
Goodluck on your low buy year Sophie 🙏
This year I challenged myself to use all the skin care products I inadvertently hoarded before I purchase another item 🥲 I’m also keeping my skin care routine to a “bare minimum” 💋
I also plan on minimizing my consumption of sweetened beverages (which cost as much as a meal ☺️) to lessen my expenses & cut back on sugar 💕
Thank you for inspiration - setting up a low-buy plan for 2024🎉💪🏻
Thank you, Sophie! 😊❤ Your content is encouraging & practical!
So, buy 3 pairs of high-top Chucks on impulse = $150 donation at some point in 2022.
great idea! 🧡
❤️ thank you for offering! that's so sweet. I'm wishing you the best luck with your mindful spending
Excited!
wow good luck with your Spanish. Let me know how it goes! I'll be working on my Portuguese alongside you.
Felicidadez por tomar esta decision de gastar poco este año.
Bendiciones.
I spend a lot of money on my skincare product last year, But now I want to save money. Thanks for this video, It helps me so much.
It sounds like you have a system that works for you and your wife :) I also pay the bills since I'm the spender between me and my husband haha
Hi Sophie
I am also doing a low buy challenge this year.
And I am glad that you shared your thoughts on this topic.
Love from India 😊
You are my favorite UA-camr
I just love this gal - no, not in that way, silly - I mean her view of life and who she is becoming! And how she’s helping many to gain a new perspective too!
Aw thank you Bob. I appreciate you
@@MalamaLife and I too appreciate you - greatly! ☺️
Less is more!
less is more ❤️
im doing a low buy year, but also breaking it into months! honestly, im really motivated to do this as we're planning to buy a home and our wedding is this year so we'll have some major expenses. So far I'm doing well by creating a tracker, using and appreciating what I have, and also asking myself if this will contribute to my long term happiness :) if not, then it can wait or i dont need it. i want to be selective in what i bring into my life/spend my money on! cant wait to follow your journey this year, sophie! u always inspire me
Love this content, it's has warmth, it feels authentic and really soothing. Thank you Sophie for your presence!
❤️
I decided to make January 2022 a no buy month, so far so good 😌
🥰 I think tracking monthly progress is much better! I hope you keep it going
Oh yes im thinking about canceling amazon prime because of all the unnecessary things we buy on there! Thanks for watching and good luck
Limiting my coffee runs and dining out this year, those are my biggest expenses. Wish me luck! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
Wishing you all the best Brandon 😍❤
Hi Sophie. I am binge watching your vlogs. Thank you for sharing. Great content
Aw thank you ❤️❤️❤️
@@MalamaLife yeah. I need this reminder😊
I am going to attempt and borrow one of yours.....eating out once a week. Thanks for the tip
Olá (Hi) from Portugal! I'm happy to know you'll be working on your portuguese this year! 😊
No buys for me this year
- unhealthy snacks at home
- makeup (a big one for me, got rid of so much unused makeup last year)
Tips for me...create an honest & realistic budget for things like eating out( monthly), clothes shopping( quarterly, with no pressure to purchase) if I don't use it by the end of that quarter push it into the next quarter 😊
Groceries (weekly)
Yea girl. Good luck ....I'm with u!
We need to remember that we don't need as much as we use
I love your goals! I'm giving myself a budget for clothes, but no pressure to buy either :)
Shopping our own closet is great! especially paired with a Wishlist :)
I am already a low buying person,Sophie.I only have money when I sell our piglets.I am a backyard hog raising so,it took a month before the mamma pig gave birth. So,my money comes only in a quarterly of the year, that's why I am a low buying person.I buy only what I needed.Sometimes,I splurge, but only minimal.
aww I wish I could buy your piglets!! ❤️
This is my first attempt at a low buy year. Thanks for the advice.
I'm glad you're joining me!!
Even the Bible advises to
“Keep a simple eye..” I look forward to this years challenge.
Aw congrats on the baby 😍❤ hwo exciting! Another added layer to the challenge, but im sure you can do it !!
Yes! I am also aiming for improvement :)
Nice to hear you want to learn Portuguese. I am from Brazil and following you. Love your channel.
i'd not say this topic is my kind of topic, but i feel your opening of the contents are great, very clear on goals, no matter how different people's lifestyles are. you're so persistent on this challenge, if it was me, i would have given up lol🤣
I'm Portuguese, we can talk in Portuguese if you would like to practice :)
Bom ano novo :)
aw thank you Cláudia! I'm trying to become better so I can have a conversation :)
For me, I definitely need to stop buying junk/processed foods and having it around.
I justify it by saying "Well, I don't waste money on smoking, drinking, gambling or vices like that, so I should be able to spend money on __________ ."
I also need to get a gym membership sometime in the future.
Happy 2022!
Thank you so much Andreia 🥰 It's a beautiful language! I definitely need to work on my pronunciation
Thank you so much for your input& tips! Luckily, I was brought up simply& frugal and taught not to value materialism, as it only brings short term happiness. I spend time in prayer and nature instead of shopping to deal with stress or avoidance.
Upbringing is very important to our future habits ❤
That video inspired me to start a LBY too. I will make my rules this night. Your videos give me so much peace, thanks. And super excited about your portuguese too haha
My low buys this year will be a lot less take out and buying second hand clothing when needed.
🧡I love it! two areas where I need to work on as well
My husband and I have been doing a low buy for the past oh, 3 years.
I’m starting a low buy challenge too! Last yr I realised I over spent wayyy too much haha
