4:35 Skill issue?
If you think ~5min download for a firmware is "forever", you wouldn't have survived the 90s and the early Interwebs.
Took me two hours to download the firmware update, and close to four for the sd card update, lol.
Back in my day it took half an hour to download a 4mb mp3.
@@juiciness So then, here in the future, things are slower. 😪🤣
Well gen Z kids are for sure much dumber!!!@@lookingforwookiecopilot
@@juicinessseem like 30 years ago, 5 mins videos took 30 mins for buffering
The "fit n finish" of this unit is noticably superior to any competition $150 & below. Just feels & appears high quality. We have plenty other videos showing very acceptable PSP gameplay now with latest updated OS which was introduced after this video as well.
It is now a solid no-brainer choice now.
Would you say that the lack of performance is actually software based then? Or does it have hardware that will forever hold it back?
I'm new to retro handhelds and curious about this one 😊
@@SIQmai It's being constantly updated, and it just got Vulkan update to increase performance. The future is very promising with this one
@@SIQmai the hardware isn’t holding it back. It’s already performing equal to a rk3566 now. There’s just not much more performance to be unlocked beyond that. Regardless, at current prices, it’s easily the best device in the $60 range.
The 1.0.4 firmware now released, with Vulkan supports,
And so on. There was some hw changes on L2 AND R2 Buttons, So with the under $50 prices, almost PSP Runs with 30fps, such nice device in My think.
PSP at 30FPS is not very impressive 😅
@@RetroBreezeYT For $47 it is.
@@RetroBreezeYT For 52 bucks it. Used to be 160 for sinilar performance juat 3 years ago.
@@RetroBreezeYT you know that standard fps for psp is 30 fps only high quality expensive games got 60 fps
I like mine but a big part of that is the quality of build vs a lot of handhelds we review
Yeah the frame is nice and sturdy, it feels different than others out there. Shame about the low quality sticks!
100%. The looks are not the only inspiration it takes from the Vita. It’s built like a tank compared to a non-metal Anbernic.
@@RetroBreezeYT the sticks are literally just Vita replacement sticks.
I love Shem but this is just a bad review. Everyone that buys this device freaking loves it and they’re always surprised to see just how close the performance is to the rk3566.
Just waiting on mine to arrive I kind of like the look of it man
Haha, I like the "look" of it too!
Hi Sonic Love! 👋😊
@@Pridetoons the legend is here!
Man I bought this and the powkiddy x28 because I like the look of it
A version 2 of this would rock the emulation scene. The size is perfect but maybe fixing a few issues and giving a tiny spec bump would make it incredible.
Thanks so much for featuring my mod video. Hopefully it'll come in handy for other players!
Thank you for sharing your findings! I kind of want to do it on mine, but I also kind of want to never touch it again.
Yeah. I get that. The triggers will never be as good as if they were properly designed from the start.
@@ClickyControlIt’s ‘RUBBISH’ !
@@Red-Revolution708 Sorry hear that. I've read recently that some later units now come with good triggers. That's good news, I think.
What's your opinion on the TrimUI Smart Pro? Love it? Hate it?
Thanks for the review. I was interested since it got cheaper but I’ll just stick to the smaller smart and RGB30. Money saved :)
Can you reccomend a better hand held with comparable price?
There isn't any
That of you not showing Atari Lynx games on a system with such a screen was a huge oversight.
Love your honest review. You really nailed the problem, if the PSP is not running well, that defeats the purpose of the beautiful size of this screen and the fact that this device is designed like a PSP. So right now it's a pass despite the very attractive price... However, if in a few months they release another version with a different chip that can play PSP very well That would be very interesting !! But i agree with you that they should have made this device 20-30$ more expensive with a better chipset from the start.
I really genuinely hope they do another one with a better chip for sure.
Thanks for your honesty in this - there's way too many "you must own this!" type videos out there
The TrimUI Smart Pro sucks and I'm not going to pretend it doesn't!
Someone gave me one as a gift and after playing several games, when I turned it back on all the games had disappeared, it's as if the memory had been erased. Do you know how to fix it? By the way, the device was new.
Let's love reviews because they get old quickly. In fact, after the current 1.0.4 update, GoW on PSP works perfectly thanks to the 64-bit emulator
3:35 This is exactly how I felt about the RG351P and RG552 when a PSP game played full speed on it. 3:2 and 5:3 screen's are the perfect middle ground for both 4:3 and 16:9 Content.
"The download took forever", shows a "3mn left" download...
Hi! How did you fix the microphone? I still can't map it. When i map it it does nothing when i press it.
Thanks
I like it a lot, for 60€ can ask for more.. just full romset GBA full screen and some random working PSP, make it very appealing to me. It is a bit slippery tho.
I agree the price is very appealing for what you get, it's just that what you get is just kind of in a weird position in terms of form factor and performance. Don't forget to add WonderSwan to your collection. It's the best system for this device.
@@RetroBreezeYT Great! Thank you!!
Did you try turning off the FN switch on the bottom of the device? It's some kind of battery saver, and it inhibits performance. Slide that switch to the right (off) and try the PSP and the other systems you had issues with. They should play way better with FN turned off.
Yes, I'm aware of the FN button. PSP generally sucks with it off, and totally sucks with it on!
if u want perfect psp, u get better processor handheld such as odin 2, retroid pocket 4 and 4plus. for this screen size at 5 inches selling at 50 dollar plus at aliexpress it has great value. in short, ps1 and below will be perfect.
n64, psp, dreamcast and saturn will be bonus.
Firmware 1.0.3 is now available
Are you using the beta 1.0.3 that Tech Toy released?
No, it's the latest (at time of the video) firmware from the TrimUI website.
Why haven’t you put down the Trimui Smart Pro updates on your video ? Only for new users to find them.
Good point.
@@ClickyControlThank you 👍🏻
I know that this video was released 8 months ago but new versions of os are way better and almost every game that has a emulator in the handheld works how it should work or even better
Sometimes I feel like revisiting this again but eh, I don't know.
What is net play used for?
Local multiplayer between devices
Personally I would have preferred this device have a 5" 3:2 screen instead of a 5" 16:9 screen. 😂
Would have been close to 10/10 in that case! We need more 3:2!
@@RetroBreezeYT Amen 🙏
Hi could you help me with how to make an update
Can u change the aspect ratio
Your code doesn’t work
Are you able to get play store? Stream ps remote play/Xbox? Change ui?
No, it's not android and no streaming apps are available
moonlight is available
Nope unfair you must redo the video again! 🤣🙃
Maybe I'll like it if I just keep reviewing it
@@RetroBreezeYT LOL, yeah I didn't expect your views to change much like you said you're problems weren't with the Software it was with the fact this Handheld doesn't excel at PSP Emulation and certain Hardware issues. I understand 😊
Dont be hatin´ :(
I'll never live down my opinion on this device 😂 I just... Don't like it!
firmware download can only be done via PC?
Yes
Are you able to use a Mac to download the firmware?
@@bcasanova9828 yes!
Awesome thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately, I have to agree. If this could be a dedicated PSP device, that would be enough. The screen is excellent.
Even though it was clearly inspired by a Vita, it doesn't really feel like a Vita in hand due to the extra weight and matte finish.
The audio is definitely lacking, as well.
And the L2/R2 buttons are the worst I've felt on any handheld. They're basically unusable.
I think on testing further I would agree on L2/R2. They are unusable. I get the concept but they are just plain bad!
Thank you for this update. I own a Miyoo mini plus and looking for an upgrade and horizontal hand held, fell in love with this but turns out its not good. I like the PSP look of it but cant play psp very well. Wasted potential.
it still baffles me why they went for a wide screen than a 4:3 or 1:1 screen when the device mostly only plays consoles below ps1 which uses 4:3 screen. such a waste
Very informative review! Can't wait to get my unit! 🔥Subscribed! ;)
Thank you! I genuinely hope you love it!
So... How does Monster Hunter run in it? Like, you put Freedom 2 in the thumbnail, I was hoping you were going to actually show it running lol
Thank you for saying that this thing is wasted potential. You have all the other popular reviewers saying how awesome this thing is, but I don’t understand why they’re saying that. You have this big high resolution screen, but you can’t even use it because it isn’t powerful enough.
I haven't caught up on my peers' reviews yet 😅 I look forward to watching them!
Stop bitching its only 80.00 it plays well for price
Except for the great screen, it's not much better than my Anbernic RG353P for what I like to play. I bought my TrimUI on Amazon, so I have until January 31st to return it with no problem. I'll give it a few more weeks, maybe another update or 2 will help some things. If we get lucky, some good custom firmware will appear soon.
Just curious as a follow up what your thoughts are on this?
@@creekielappyI ended up returning it. No updates, and the d-pad was just way too tiny to really use. I just bought a PowKiddy X55 for $90 a few weeks ago, and really like it so far.
@@Steelebourne awesome thanks for that. I was also looking at both the x55 and Trimui so that’s really good to know. How have you adjusted with the x55 having the analog stick at the top left instead of the bottom left like on the Trimui?
@@creekielappy I've never liked the Xbox controller design, having always gone with the Playstations & Nintendo's consoles over the years. It feels strange not having the d-pad directly across from the buttons when I'm playing games that were only made for that classic design. It just doesn't seem to be a good choice for retro gaming. Not a deal breaker for me, but definitely a little awkward.
I dont't care for PSP. If it plays SNES, Megadrive and F-zero N64, I'd buy it as its good value.
Mine will not at all. I flashed my SD Card put in the files using Winrar but nothing work ?
How did you install the update firmware?
Just ordered one for $50 on a sale, I'm excited to get it 😁
Where did you get it for that price??
@@hidan8292ali express. I just ordered one. It's $58 though with 128 GB SD card and games. $50 with no SD card/no games
