My people were from Ireland and we have always been damn proud to be Irish. I hear this music and my heart aches to visit and walk in my ancestral home. I am an old man now and cannot travel but my wish is to someday go there. God Bless the Irish and the C.S.A and Bobby Lee.

A beautiful, beautiful song. Interestingly the song 'I'm Born Again' by Boney M is sung with very similar vocal tones. You can sing one song over the other as they match perfectly.

@@allen-michaelsoard9391 you act as if there is much of a difference. You lot are basically the same a Belarusians and Ukrainians, the same folks with slightly different accents.

So easy on the ears. I like to listen to every version of this song I can find; it makes me curious at why pronounciations of words are so very different and how so many variations of the lyrics seem to exist. When I consider the translations I can find, it makes me wonder if the original song was meant to be comic, as the boy seems to make such unlikely boasts of wealth and power.

As for the different pronunciations of the words, there are a few dialects of the Irish language.

No I'd say he's so madly in love he can't help but exaggerate as an Irishman I can say we are very fond of making things out of proportion take for example the song The Irish Rover, I think it's more trying to express that no matter how much he'd have he'd still be in complete awe... At least that's what I like to think. Irish comic songs are far more blatant at least from an Irish sense of humour dunno bout the rest of the world.
