She has to be the most talented yet underrated performer of all time. Did she have a bad PR guy? A bad manager? Why wasn't she bigger? I tell everyone about her.
I loved a group called, "Little Girls" (around '81-82). KROQ, the No. 1 New Wave station in Los Angeles was just about ready to play some of their songs, when a new manager was hired. This new one decided NOT to play their music, and that was that! Sometimes, it's that simple. Plus, there was no Internet back then.
Talent doesn't sell. What sells massively is mediocrity. I think Lovich was eclipsed by Kate Bush at the time - both had fans in common, were critically acclaimed but never massively mainstream. There's probably limited space for seriusly quirky and eccentric female artistes.
Damn this music is still relevant blows away everyone . Her lyrics grip you . Your hypnotized with her voice what a gift she is so thankful I was born in the years to appreciate her .
I would say you can appreciate this music more now. Ive just discovered and appreciate it. Listen to Aldous Harding if you haven't yet. The barrel, blend, horizon, fixture picture... She is amazing!
This song has been my mantra playing deep inside my head as I dealt with the stressful day-to-day challenges of my career life for decades!! I love you Lene!😇💕
Lene Lovich was so unique, and original , yet still had extremely catchy hooks, in her very well written music. Her ,and Nina Hagen are (& were) unfairly underrated , but most of the great ones are. LENE ROCKS ! Bob. G
She's still going but you're right, she never became the star she could have been. She had a brief time in the sun with "Lucky Number" and "Say When" but then more or less faded into obscurity.
Oh u r soooo right! Amazing performer!!!!! Fun and fascinating!!! Verrrrr UNIQUE Great voice! Operatic. Huge range! Great lyricks!!!!! Lucky Was I to see her at toads place NH, CT.
Those impossibly long plaits, big white teeth, gorgeous big blue/grey eyes....what an incredible looking woman. I was 19 when she had her first hit with Lucky Number, I had no shortage of girlfriends back then but I was secretly in love with Lene for years....and the music was good too.!
Now is the time for Lene Lovich to claim her deserved credit. 1970s and 1980s music is currently hitting the charts. Lene needs to release something. She has plenty of first class music that needs rediscovering.
I bow down to the one and only Lene Lovich. Lene had such a unique sound, voice and presence. I love that she is still HER even now. She should have been massive, she was just far too interesting for many to see beyond Lucky Number.
It's a wonder why they bothered going for 'Lucky Number' in the first place. People are so retarded and pointless and taste-free. Welcome someone just to take it back a year later. And yet OTHER people you just can't get rid of and the public can't hump them enough-and this is always for the losers, of course! As perky and fun and clever and different as 'Lucky Number' is, I found many follow-ups to be even better, and I love the killer 80s sound of her few 80s albums she was allowed to make. Wish she'd made more albums! So few considering she's been in the biz since 1976 or so. Same thing with Natasha England. Just depressing the way things turn out, yet look at the kind of talentless bitches and twat barbies who get to make 78 albums a year of nothing!
Most of the 80s IS a lost art! Thank slagdonna, phil collins, weller, Pete fucking Waterman and his puppets, the allowance of rap as 'music' (WTF!) and the decades that followed.
Det var bare så sejt : ) Har desværre kun to af hendes plader. ______________________ In one of her records there was this message on the big black skaty bit : "Mind your change" on the other side the message was : "change your mind" - bet you didn´t know that folks : )
Angels Lene Lovich The angels are watching over me, constantly they say The angles are always close to me in every game I play And if I win or lose... I know they'll see me through The angels watch my every move Confused and lost, like there's no way out Till I see a light, shining from above So I raise my head, to salute the sky And I feel that light, take my spirt high The angels are watching over me, constantly they say The angles are always close to me in every game I play And if I win or lose... I know they'll see me through The angels watch my every move I could close my mind, to a lot of things But tonight's the night, for remembering There's a place for me, on the other side When they call my name, for that final ride The angels are watching over me, constantly they say The angles are always close to me in every game I play And if I win or lose... I know they'll see me through The angels watch my every move
@JHS06111965 Agreed. Met her in Chicago, and she's just so beautiful! The teeth, the sky blue eyes, the translucent skin, the braids! Sorry, don't mean to go on about her physical attributes, but she was just so darned nice and genuine, too!
Thank you for posting this long-missed & lost video! Lene was (and still is) definately one of the greatest New Wave-Artists of all times. God bless this holy woman! (Pat, Switzerland)
This was down to where the vinyl was mastered, Porky Prime Cuts, still exist on Shaftesbury Avenue. As a courier many years back I delivered to them and asked the guys leaning around the reception area if they still did it, they grinned and said yes when they could, but said it wasn't like it was with CDs around.
She's all the rage! Than you for revealing the secret to the (not so well informed) rest of the world: "rage", an Australian TV show. Aha! For all these years I've thought it's the codename of somebody who ripped & put cool music videos on the internet. Saw it first on a Dead Kennedys clip.
and there she is - Will You? by the lovely lady herself - saw her when she was in a local shop near Radlett in 1987/8? Where the buddist temple was that George Harrison bought for the Hare Krishna movement down there
@gasplut Yeah, Stiff wasn't the only label to do that- lots of labels did it. Btw, Porky was the nickname for George "Porky" Peckham, the guy well-known for transferring the master-tapes to vinyl and I've read that same inscription you mentioned on quite a few records back in the day.
@crapple009 Tanx -didn´t know that - only noticed it on the Lene Lovich records ( only remember the "Mind your Change / Change your Mind" )- and on monty pythons "the album of the soundtrack of the film of monty python and the holy grail" - that says "an excutive porky prime cut" on " A and B side is a long message that end with "this writing is NOT included on the excutive version ff the album" - and thats a CAS record - so maby lots of vinyl records got "easter eggs" ? - tanx for the info :)
@solwolfpunk Actually the first time I came across her, was her mentioning in a music book. If it wasn't for discovering that book, I would never have discovered her.
Looking at career timelines, Lene. Also, there was some information going about many years ago now claiming that “Breaking Glass” was “inspired” by Lene’s troubled dealings with Stiff Records back in the day, with Kate being the Lene figure.
SHE IS AWESOME

Nina Hagen. Wow. Smack Jackmis an incredible song…
Lene is so beautiful and she is a great singer!
I just discovered her at my 45 years old; the video has 40 years. She is very creative and her voice so special! Quality is timeless
Yes, good stuff...80's rock. Siouxie, Dale Bozzio, Christine Amphlett, Kate Garner all pretty ladies with great music!
She's still performing, incredible. Every single song is just stunning
I don't think Lena got the credit for just how talented and unique she was
I agree. see, you can't even spell her name right and its only 4 characters ;P
She's still going but you're right, she never became the star she could have been. She had a brief time in the sun with "Lucky Number" and "Say When" but then more or less faded into obscurity.
yes
Oh u r soooo right!
Amazing performer!!!!!
Fun and fascinating!!!
Verrrrr UNIQUE
Great voice!
Operatic. Huge range!

@@Treviscoe The World wasn't ready for her unique talent!
Brilliant lene she was really good I love her songs
I saw her first way back in 1979 at Leeds University. Still have the badge I bought there
If It's Lene, You'll Lovich.
Loving this 🎉❤
Those impossibly long plaits, big white teeth, gorgeous big blue/grey eyes....what an incredible looking woman. I was 19 when she had her first hit with Lucky Number, I had no shortage of girlfriends back then but I was secretly in love with Lene for years....and the music was good too.!
I am still so very smitten with Lene. Have been since 1979.
I love Lene Lovich. I love this song
Today could really use a singer and personality like Lene Lovich.
Never heard her do I Think we're Alone Now.
It's a great rendition but I love Lucky Numbers, a classic.👍
Heard this a long time ago, no one knew what I was talking about. I was hooked. And we are reunited. What a band.
Now is the time for Lene Lovich to claim her deserved credit. 1970s and 1980s music is currently hitting the charts. Lene needs to release something. She has plenty of first class music that needs rediscovering.

Love her .. absolutely brilliant
This style of music is a lost art that must be re-discovered.
Most of the 80s IS a lost art! Thank slagdonna, phil collins, weller, Pete fucking Waterman and his puppets, the allowance of rap as 'music' (WTF!) and the decades that followed.
- AbsoluTely...~
I have been listening to this song over and over this week. I just got the Best Of Lene Lovich w/22 songs. Love her haunting voice and original sound.
Excellent song..my favourite track by Lene
Saw her at the Mabuhay Garden, in San Francisco 1982
Seeing Lene in march 24 and can't wait!

Angels
Lene Lovich

The angles are always close to me in every game I play

I could close my mind, to a lot of things
But tonight's the night, for remembering
There's a place for me, on the other side
When they call my name, for that final ride
The angels are watching over me, constantly they say
The angles are always close to me in every game I play
And if I win or lose...

He vivido en la época equivocada 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
UK Artist (she was born in the US, but lived in the UK since she was 13).
Flex was the perfect album to take mind altering substances to and just lay in a bean bag chair with the one you love!
I'd never seen this video, thanks for posting..I still got this on a 45 with great sleeve too!
The wonderful Lene!
Very actual style for 2024
Thank you for posting and I haven't thought of rage in a million years....great memories.
Now you know where Sadie Frost's look as "Lucy Westenra"
in 1992's Francis Ford Coppola's BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA originated from.
thesurpriseshow totally agree with you. Lene was real-deal gothic, before The Cure copied her and became 80s buffoons.
"FLEX"

Alan Winstanley
Thank you for posting this long-missed & lost video!
Lene was (and still is) definately one of the greatest New Wave-Artists of all times. God bless this holy woman!

I sing one when I'm on my bike;)
Salute Nelson1963 fine years ago!

Well of course she is English, American/ Serbian descent. U should go to Serbia
I seen Her ! Wow the Notes ! She can hit & it was Sold out -& we got in ! For Free ! The ticket' Angel watching over ! Me !
She’s a bit Kate Bush.
Less dance.
More freak.
Same expressionist theatrics.
God I love it.
a bit cabaret. Yes I think that was a class of its own. Also friend Nina Hagen, and hazel o'connor . More suggestions?
Grande
Io amo questa donna!
Yes, she is.
Takes gurning to another level
She's a Doctor Who 'angel'.
this song was embedded on my ADN as a child

Goddess!
shes scary and cute at the same time
you should be scared of other kind of people
❤️❤️❤️👍
The Hell Angelshym at 1980!
@gasplut Stiff Records, the label she recorded for, put messages in the vinyl on all its releases. A very quirky and witty label, it was.
The Uk equivalence of Nina Hagen.
Great girls both of them. Top music.
Larz Gustafsson she is American
Born in America, came to England at age 13 and was very much a part of the UK post-punk scene, so both right
@WoodRatGirl You said it! I would love to see her...I hope she tours in my area.
❤
damn shame she isnt coming to the usa
Now I know where the headless monks from Doctor Who got their chants!
Many labels/artists did this. Kate Bush's singles of the 70s/80s are full of messages.
So that's where the Rage logo comes from: Australia!
Yesssss were are not alllone .
Ironic an "Angel" such as Lena would speak so highly of her self. Draconian through and through.🦇
@crapple009 Tanx -didn´t know that - only noticed it on the Lene Lovich records ( only remember the "Mind your Change / Change your Mind" )- and on monty pythons "the album of the soundtrack of the film of monty python and the holy grail" - that says "an excutive porky prime cut" on " A and B side is a long message that end with "this writing is NOT included on the excutive version ff the album" - and thats a CAS record - so maby lots of vinyl records got "easter eggs" ? - tanx for the info :)

The Angels watch my every move. Well they say they're angels anyway.
a'm'arcorda quand'er'un zuvnaaz.
(it remembers to me when i was a youngster)
Anche io.
Totally.
Hazel O'Connor - Monsters in Disguise. Very similar and also 1980, wonder which came first?
Looking at career timelines, Lene. Also, there was some information going about many years ago now claiming that “Breaking Glass” was “inspired” by Lene’s troubled dealings with Stiff Records back in the day, with Kate being the Lene figure.
Probably Lene Lovich's best song. Not the best video, mind you, but the song is mesmerizing.
My thought exactly. Perhaps a double-entendre? If so, a clever one.
fantastic crazy chick B|
