Lucky Number came out the same year as Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights. Two great female artists, quite rare in those days. Loved seeing both on Top of the Pops.
I adore Lene! Her live shows are the stuff of legend! Every time she performed in Austin, I was there! Even got to meet her! She is an amazing person, with a remarkable talent!
@lavondunaway - There used to be a radio show on BBC Radio One called Star Special. A different star would host the show each week playing two hours of their own choice of songs (a great idea, I think). Lene hosted it one week, and it was really interesting - she played songs like Supernature by Cerrone, mentioning that she'd written the lyrics, the brilliant Cuckoo Clock by Rachel Sweet, for which she'd provided the scream, and the rather strange but ear-catching Yankee Wheels, by Jane Aire & the Belvederes. I think Fire by Arthur Brown may have been in there, too. I found it a fascinating show, and still have the cassette of it somewhere.
Best version of the song ever put to vinyl (and the vinyl includes the Japanese version which is exquisite!) Luv ya forever Ms Lovitch. You ARE my latter days of the 70's, when I got dragged, kicking and screaming into adulthood. And remember kids, "If it ain't Stiff, it ain't worth a..."
I thought she was so unique back when I first saw her as a teen...now I see her I am reminded of Siouzi and the Banshees but prefer Lene's playfulness.
Damn, I have never heard of her or heard this song sung by her. Her voice reminds me a little of the lead singer from The Motels. I am off to listen to more music from this artist.
If you like this type of late 70s / early 80s music, you really should watch out for Diane Dusfrene, a super eccentric French Canadian singer that do this type of theatrical show since the mid 70s.
Wow she made me love this version of this song just based on her presence and style - when I’ve hated it for years because of that teenager girl who sang it 😂❤
Niether did the original, but the Lene / Tiffany covers were a definite line between fans in the 80s. Those who liked the Tiffany crowd wore neon and shopped at malls. The Lene fans were the goths, nerds, punks, and outsiders of the day…. I won’t say we were cooler, but our music was way better.
I think the lena fans and Tiffany fans were a half generation apart too. One is the gen X of the new romantics and Goths, the other is the gen X of Kylie Minogue and "vogue" stage Madonna
Silvia Tortosa siempre guapa y radiante visca catalunya lliure 😅😅😅😅
Lene did it the BEST!! I have always been a fan and I HATE the cutsie rendition that everyone else listens to and praises. Must be because they had good PR. (Tiffany?)
Actually Kate released her debut album several months before Lene's and was much more popular. Lene's singing style was very unique but you can clearly hear she was influenced by Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music.
In 1982 when i was 17, bought her 1st album. Jerry Farewell called her a Slavic witch, i knew i was always going to love her music
Great Comment!!
Jerry Falwell is dead now. Thank God.
(See what I did there?)
Slavic? She's American-British. So much for Jerry Falwell knowing basic things like facts, lol
@snoqueen313 her full name is Lili-Marlene Premilovich - her father was of Serbian descent so she is partially Slavic.
I saw her in concert late 70’s
Lene reminds me of silent screen star Theda Bara.. her facial expressions are so like the silent stars if 1920’s..she’s really great!
You name it - I searched for the Name.
She is like from the roaring Twenties.
Hollywood Babylon.
Nailed it!!

Kate Bush was 'discovered' by David Gilmour, who used to visit her house as a family friend.
The Wuthering Heights album. Amazing
I've never even heard this version! Wow. Thanks UA-cam algorithm.
Same here
Strange that we're all seeing it within days of each other...
After 45 years of existence, why is today the first day I have ever heard of this amazing lady? The Matrix needs to get its algorithms together...
She is so original and unique. I love her.
She owes a lot to Nina Hagen and vice versa. I love them both. 💜💜💜
@@michelehenne2477You beat me to it.
saw Lene in Guildford on Friday night, she was on top form and a joy to see her live at long last
She has an awesome & unique stage presence.
So bloody brilliant. Crazy, arty, danceable, comical, what an incredible drum-track. All of it, I love.
She's fantastic...love her style
I just discovered this lady. I love her.
Same here
I have since 1978, when I first saw her on TV singing Lucky Number. I've even got the picture sleeve version of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus!
She had a priceless Aura and this slavic, carpathian fashionlook was unique. I had the LP back then and heard it quite often.
I adore Lene! Her live shows are the stuff of legend! Every time she performed in Austin, I was there! Even got to meet her! She is an amazing person, with a remarkable talent!

@BackToTheBlues That is amazing! I would love to see that! She is fabulous!
She was so underated❤❤
Amazing. Would have loved to see her duet with Debby Harry.
I love the step change at 4:00, Lucky Number just seems to arrive from another space and time. Genius.
Best version of the song ever put to vinyl (and the vinyl includes the Japanese version which is exquisite!)
Luv ya forever Ms Lovitch. You ARE my latter days of the 70's, when I got dragged, kicking and screaming into adulthood.

There's something in the air besides the atmosphere ❤!
such a great artistic - where are you now - we need you back!
Pure genius!
The new box set of all her albums on Stiff Records is great. Lots of bonus tracks and the whole thing is re-mastered with great sound quality.
The second some is such a vibe. Its so good that I can almost taste it 😅
Love ya ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for posting this!!!

what a unique voice
WoW Lene is absolutely impressive , 😍
Beautiful, unique and underrated
Vaya eso sí era talento, cosa de lo que hoy carecemos en la Música
this song still slaps hard in 2024(lucky number)
Wow she made me love this version of this song just based on her presence and style - when I’ve hated it for years because of that teenager girl who sang it 😂❤
That was fab!
Fantastic
Wow great look. Ive never heard this version before, thanks.
Up!😎 Thanks! by Anna,Christine,Tinja&Markku :D
LOVE-ITC...!!
Simply gorgeous music ❤🎶
very cool
The first record i bought.
Way ahead of her time. She wore masks before Covid lol :) Love her!
Love you Lene!
If we found ourself alone with Lena would have a heart attack and die never having a chance to tell her how much we appreciate her talent
This was one of my very early 7" singles bought. Still love Lucky Number.
Excelente Lene !👏👏👏👏👏
For those who want to just watch her performance, start at 1.14 mins...
Love it😎
Que linda.
Wish the audio was live on this one.
Never knew Lene did this song....
They also did a japanese version
Lene Lovich and Les Chappell, the guitarist playing the Telecaster, wrote these songs...
@@jabbalechat7910 "I Think We're Alone Now" was written by Tommy James of The Shondells fame. Lene does an even better cover than Tiffany!!!!
@@burkeshaw Thanks for the correction, though checking it seems the song was actually written by the producer Richie Cordell...
@@jabbalechat7910 Fair enough! I just remember Tommy doing it first and quietly assumed.... I think we both agree, LENA!!!!
¡¡¡¡Disfrutando a tope con Esta Genia!!!! ¡Adelantada a su tiempo, Mágicka!🩰🩰🩰🩰
So many forgot about this one
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I love this song
❤superb ❤️
The original goth 🖤
Fuck yes!
Wait, wait, wait, wait... I thought Nico was... Or Lydia, along with Lene and Siouxsie.
Tiffany made mint out of this.Never ever knew Lena Lovich did the original/
This is the original version:

Tommy James and the Shondells.
Lucky Number has a real Missing Persons Dale Bozzio vibe to it.
Like a Slavic Cyndi Lauper :-)

Got the Sanford and Son on the keyboard early there. Different, but like it
That's Thomas Dolby
anche lei, bravissima, me la ricordo benissimo a St. Vincent
Idole
Had a mad crush on her. Still do
She’s really beautiful. I think if I was a man she would be my perfect woman 🙂
As a blend of Kate Bush and Siouxsie, Lene never really got the recognition she certainly deserved.
wow....
Thomas Dolby was her keyboard player and wrote some of her songs
She looks like a female version of Adam Ant. I don’t know, maybe it was intentional.
Good cover
Big crush!
I kinda get early David Bowie vibes from her.

proto-Princess Amidala
Sydney Rock band Ratcat do a brilliant version of " I think we're alone now"
She was as expressive in her songs as The next gal.on the block Kate Bush
They were both very unique but in different fields. And they are both in my music collection.
Actually Kate released her debut album several months before Lene's and was much more popular.
Lene's singing style was very unique but you can clearly hear she was influenced by Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music.
@@theselector4733yes, you can hear hear it for sure!
All these people dissing Tiffany, like you’re trying to seem cool- I love both versions, don’t have to hate one to like the other!
❤
J rolled: let’s see what will be fun...ah , here we are.
Another You Tube surprise tune.
A bit different to Tiffany's version.
A very pretty lady......some blokes "lucky number"
She looks like the Russian starlet Olga Baclanova here! ❤️
🖤
This is wonderful, she was a bit weird but she had a great voice.
You can tell she's from Hull.
Is that Wilco Johnson as well
None of the current artists (Florence, Ga Ga etc.) reference her, despite the obvious influence.
2024.12.17 ❤
A cross between Nina Hagen and Sousie Soux.
WTF was that Tiffany thinking trying to do this song justice after Lene nailed it😢😢❤❤
Marcia Joue quelque chose de simple
She's the original Cindy lauper
hmmm i heard this so many times who wrote it
She did.
I love her weirdness
Zu der Zeit war jede promoaufführung playback
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤💣👍💥
I see where Marilyn Manson got his style from
The best cover of this tune by 50 miles
better than the original too - she gets the meaning of the lyrics
Laina? omg it's simple. Lene.
🤣🤣🤣Pensé lo mismo Laina????? Es simplemente Lene... Diminutivo de Marlene.
Se pronuncia Léine porque es la versión alemana de Marlene. Pero sí.
1979…. That explains a lot
