RIP to the central figure in pop culture: in George Harrison's words, "It's all his fault." Nobody -- not Elvis, nobody -- was as determinative. We would have had a form of rock -- it would have been intense, and it would have crossed ethnic lines -- but the radical, performative, flamboyant, glam, punk energy -- THAT wouldn't have happened. So: no Prince, no Bowie, no Hendrix, no Stones, no Kanye, no Queen, no Iggy Pop, no VU (indeed maybe no Warhol), no disco, no hiphop, no Beatles, who began as a leather band in German whorehouses. The transgressive thing would have been absent. It all would have Clapton, the Beach Boys, Ike and no Tina... Jazz would have had a far bigger role, and country. He was an absolutely amazing person, to think of this and do it.
until he says ''shut up!''.which is also contagious. hilarious. he was one of the very last, true Rock & Roll legends. and after his initial popularity waned a bit, and he toured on the strength of his catalog in the early-mid 60's, he hired (and occasionally fired) Jimi Hendrix
and he has also mentioned more than once, that he thanked God for ELVIS, because it took a white boy to make R&R popular, and ELVIS covered Richard's songs on his albums, which makes any songwriter happy (royalties $$).EP's 'Ready Teddy' still rocks like hell 60 yrs. later(sorry, Lord).

So, so true. I miss hosts like Snyder. He did his homework. And he let the guest answer the questions, and genuinely was interested in their answers. His guests were diverse. Iggy Pop was a guest on his show for goodness sake. Wow.
Tom Synder sounds bias to me and critical of how Little Richard looks. Especially when he says he looks like he is dressed up as Halloween. And he referred to him as color boy when that is old stuff. The identity is either Black or African American. Little Richard waa actually a handsome man even in his makeup. It was mostly for him to look different although he was gay as he admits. I am very grateful to see Little Richard in this interview with Tom Snyder. A wonderful show, I just love this living legend. Now in regards to Little Richard washing pots and pans at that Greyhound bus station, I got a secret to tell from my grandma when scrubbing stuck on food. You put water in the pot, dishwashing liquid, and place it on the stove, you use med. heat and let it simmer for 30 min. The pot will be easier to clean.
I also learned a hack for getting stuck on gunk off pans. It's simply this: put a drop or two of dish soap in the pot and used dryer sheet with warm water. It does something to the residue.

Shan because he touched kids...
I did not know that how beautiful God bless them both.
He was an absolutely amazing person, to think of this and do it.
miranda c definitely 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
#TRUTH
Awe Miranda, your comment is all truth and love - thank ya
Yes, yes, and yes!!
miranda c ...Wow. Amazing Tribute to the Man. You Damn Right. Mr Rock&Roll.
His laugh is contagious peace
until he says ''shut up!''.which is also contagious. hilarious. he was one of the very last, true Rock & Roll legends. and after his initial popularity waned a bit, and he toured on the strength of his catalog in the early-mid 60's, he hired (and occasionally fired) Jimi Hendrix
and he has also mentioned more than once, that he thanked God for ELVIS, because it took a white boy to make R&R popular, and ELVIS covered Richard's songs on his albums, which makes any songwriter happy (royalties $$).EP's 'Ready Teddy' still rocks like hell 60 yrs. later(sorry, Lord).
Yes, it is. I was thinking it kind of sounds like he singing.
His stories have the same effect.
I think Little Richard was Snyder's favorite person to interview. ❤️💕
OF COURSE LITTLE RICHARD WAS A GREAT RHYTHM & BLUES ( ROCK ' N ' ROLL ) ALSO GOSPEL MUSIC SINGER & PIANIST. HOWEVER , CHUCK BERRY , BO DIDDLEY , FATS DOMINO , JERRY LEE LEWIS , BILL HALEY *( WHO WAS HAVING HITS BEFORE E. PRESLEY OR LITTLE RICHARD. OTHER ARTISTS BUDDY HOLLY , GENE VINCENT , EDDIE COCHRAN RICHIE VALENS. JERRY LEE LEWIS WAS THE WILDEST OF THEM ALL , PLUS HE WAS & IS A MUCH BETTER PIANO PLAYER !! IN THE U.K. & EUROPE THE SAYING WAS ROCK 'N ' ROLL 'S THE THING & JERRY LEE 'S THE KING !! DON 'T GET ME WRONG ----- I HAVE MANY L. RICHARD RECORDS IN MY COLLECTION ---- PLUS C. BERRY & FATS DOMINO ETC. JOHN PEARCE IN U.K.
Definitely was amused
God bless Little Richard! What a wonderful spirit. Radiant personality, and in my mind….the real King of Rock and Roll.
yes, he opened the door james brown as well
+ScottMassonPublicTreatments Agree 100% Scott!
I agree! Little Richard is a tremendous talent and he and Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley are the FATHERS OD ROCK'N'ROLL.
This was a great interview with Richard....I recorded it on a VHS tape that night....he was very down-to-earth and Tom did an excellent job with his interview, love all the stories about the Beatles touring with him ....miss both of these gentlemen....Rest In Peace Tom Snyder and Little Richard : (((((💜💜
little richard is the king of rock and roll
He is. Indeed he is.
He is the man . The King !!!! Nobody can touch him ! Nobody ! When he sang everyone knew when he sang . Oh god Pat Boone 😣 little Richard brought black and white together . Elvis or nobody could sing his songs . He was a good soul and dynamite talent . Bless you Richard
@wtnomad loser ?
And RocknRoll is not your Forte Tim obviously . Richard went through hell to get where he was . Elvis had the best of everything . Richard had to fight his way because of his colour
The originator of rock and roll.
The Beatles Had Never Met A Famous Person and He Wanted Them To Meet Me. “”. What More can I Say. LEGEND. R. I. P. Mr Rock&Roll.
When James Brown passed away Little Richard said "Before him there wasn't and after him there will never be." The same can be said of you as well Richard. You were as unique as unique can be. RIP
Tom was always a good interviewer.....he leads Richard to tell his story....I miss interviewers like that
Tom was the best
I love his music and his talent but glad that he gave his heart to the Lord before he passed almost two weeks ago.
RIP talented and gifted man. Your music will live on in every generation.
He allowed them to speak, unlike Larry King & the worst, Charlie Rose.
The man was legendary even before his accolades and awards.. A living breathing black unicorn! My life was made so much more colorful and vibrant knowing this man's wonderful music.. RIP and God Speed to Mr.Richard Penniman's beautiful soul!! There will never be another like him.
little Richard started rock n roll! ooh my soul.
I so love Little Richard but I wish he would tell me what it was like being with the great Jackie Wilson he too was a great entertainer. I feel so many has forgotten him
I am very grateful to see Little Richard in this interview with Tom Snyder.
Wow, smart! The heat burns the gunk off.
I also learned a hack for getting stuck on gunk off pans. It's simply this: put a drop or two of dish soap in the pot and used dryer sheet with warm water. It does something to the residue.
Little Richard was a beautiful man inside and out. He was a spiritual man who loved Jesus.
RIP little Richard. Your life was a rollercoaster. At least, when it finally came to a stop, you were happy.
Indeed!!!!!!
Entertainment business seems like a big negative stronghold
O my
Yiu
Richard was the very first, that's why he so mad, people don't acknowledge him and him the right amount of attention wealth like the other musicians.
Little Richard and Tom Snyder: two of the greatest ever at what they did.
this man been career is soooo long nobody these days would even match it...
Jerry Lee Lewis
I loved Tom Snyder - he was the best interviewer of all time. I still miss him to this day. Little Richard - omg - what a great man. Loved him, too. This is a fabulous interview - 2 greats together.
Congratulations tonni for being in love with another man and for letting everyone know
Wonderful personality. He probably was awesome to hang out with. He knew everybody and had all the "tea".
"What are you?" "I don't know!!! I'm something but I don't know what it is either"! LMAO!!! he WAS something... something else ! :-D
I watch this video at least once a week to keep me sane. He makes me so happy
Richard was a delightful man and an incredible talent , a national treasure rest in peace Richard.....thanks for the fun .excitement and art you gave to the world..
His laugh is infectious he's so sweet I bet you're tom head nice time with Little Richard interviewing him
I loved, and still love Little Richard and I always will. I’m especially fond of Elvis Presley and it’s so refreshing to hear him give Elvis respect he deserves. Richard will always, to me, be missed.
One of the things that made Richard so appealing was that he could poke fun at himself.
He was just so natural and everybody can relate to him and his stories.
So glad he gave his heart to the lord.Such a nice person who loves the lord.
and still the beautiful Little Richard from Macon Georgia Beautiful voice ,beautiful man
Little Richard and I have so much in common. We both experienced the second slavery and our fathers sold bootleg liquor to feed the family because sharecropper slaves never received pay for their labor. Little richard overcame so many obstacles. He was truly blessed. Thank God 🙏
He was magnificent. Rip little Richard!!!
(He had become very religious by the time he died. He had become a serious 7th day Adventist preacher).
He was a brilliant artist & a great storyteller!!!
If you listen to his story, Little Richard loved Jesus Christ all of his life, even since childhood.
I remember meeting Little Richard after church. He was so nice and very genuine. #Rest in Power
Damn his best friend killed his dad because he got caught stealing from his peanut machine. What a story wow
Awww thanks a lot for the video!
It's always good to hear the amazing Little Richard and as an interviewer, no one made it more interesting and fun than Tom Snyder.
Little Richard Wonderful Soul !!!
What a legend Little Richard he influence a lot of Rock stars .God bless him RIP.
Is the Zeus you're personal God belief
Little Richard interviews are always very entertaining.
He is just one merry positive happy guy that I have ever seen! Rest in the peace of the Lord, man...looking like this at age 63.! and all that energy!
Love this interview. At 12:03 we learn the original lyric: "Tutti Frutti" was not followed by "aw rooty." Interesting that Little Richard is 64 but looks much younger than 60-yr-old Snyder. Loved Tom's way of interviewing and Richard's frank and still-so-confident answers. He was truly a pioneer of 20th century music.
he's 84 now
I just love Little Richie to bits! so loveable and truthful xxx
Richard...is so BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
Personality plus.
I love his personality great person you can tell just by him speaking ❤
lmao, what a personality.
Little Richard....A true original.
What a sweet heart..he wanted to get famouse so he could make a better life for his mama!
Just shows what a beautiful soul Little Richard had, love him.
A great, great interview. One of Little Richard's best yet. Tom Snyder was a great interviewer. Loved it ❤️!!!
Yes. One of the all time greats
That side eye over the halloween comment was hilarious 😂
Mmmm hmmmm I saw it lol
Thought I was the only one who saw that lol 😂
White man is always gonna insult or put a Black man in his place, white supremacy is not dead !!!
YES ALWAYS !!!
@SpeakEZ that was a rude comment
Little Richard had to fake laugh when Tom said he was dressed for Halloween.
he showed his chest
You can say that's his real skin
Yes, super fake but what a pro.
💀😂✌🏽
Terrence Malbrough i think it was more of those “i cant believe how corny you are” laughs 😂
I love his spirit he's so genuine
Thought he had a soul
I Wish He Had Gotten All His Honors. And Respect When He Was Alive! He Was Such a Handsome, And Talented Man!!❤❤
Little Richard, the Architect of Rock 'n' Roll! He also has the BEST laugh, EVER!
Imagine having a friend like Little Richard to go out to lunch with, laugh with, and confide in.
Little Richard is extraordinary! Love him! Hilarious.
👆🤡
I miss him already. Broke down by his passing. Rest in Heaven, Little Richard, The Real King of Rock n Roll!!!
A genius of a man wayyy ahead of his time. R.I.P. Sir.
Thank you Richard. Your light was so bright and beautiful.
