Alex's Turbo'd Austin Maestro Van - An Englishman's Home Is His Van
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 сер 2024
- Alex's modified Austin Maestro van is really something that could only happen in Britain. Bordering on unicorn status these days (even in England!), Austin Maestro vans used to be everywhere. Their sharp decline on UK roads has many contributing factors but without wanting to suggest theories as to why this is we will focus on the stark fact that just 4 examples are currently on British roads (700L petrol spec). This means that Alex must have one of the only modified Austin Maestro van's in existence, and for this we thank him.
If you've got a cool car/bike/plane you'd like to have filmed then drop me a message via - www.yeahdawgie... - I'm always on the look out for more cool car projects!

That looks the business! In my early 20s my dad had a Montego GTI that i used to drive everywhere, up & down the uk watching the BTCC etc. Happy days. ❤
Cheers for watching mate
This is unreal. Last time I saw a Maestro van was at my old house where I had chickens living in it. And a nice touch too in keeping it A-series
The only maestro you can crave 🤣💪😎😎hilarious.
Love it dude kudos to you . Iv just acquired a 500L Diesel van which will modded. Going to be putting a 2.0 T series and running gear in this. 😂
The van's sound and your enthusiasm took me back to 1980 when I replaced the muffler with a glasspak and added wider tires to a '74 VW Rabbit (Golf). It wasn't pretty, but couldn't look better to me. All my friends were Camaros and Mustangs with automatics. Nice for them, but never for me. They were happy with T-tops and power windows, but give me exhaust crackle and a clutch pedal.
Thanks for watching mate! I'm glad we could take you back to another time and place!
Love it
I was not expecting an MG Metro turbo setup, i had assumed it was running an MG Maestro turbo engine.
love it!! give the Escort Rs turbo boys a run for their money there!
Awesome van!
Thanks for watching mate! Alex has done a great job!
Nice
So unusual. Not seen one for years. Also never realised how much the grill and lights look like allegro items. Maybe they are. I like that its still got the a series too, rare on its own. Either way this is definitly different, i like it.
Great to see them still on the road aye!
@therustroom are currently doing a built series on this on there channel if you want to see more content on the van!
That looks rather nice.
looked for maestro turbo diesel and found this gem
Cheers for watching Robert!
Frikin'Awesome man!!! This vidya's presentation was spot on.
Thanks for watching mate!
Awesome looking car. Among my favourite cars have always been German cars, British cars, and Australian cars.
Thanks for watching mate!
Nice job !
I Still remember the sound those old Perkins diesel ones made ,very agricultural
Who could forgot aye! From a time now gone unfortunately ! Have you seen the video JayEmm put out a few years back, he reviewed a modified diesel version - good watching!
@@ShiftDawgie i whatch a lot of his vids,I'll have a look back though his chan to find it cheers
Shame they never fitted the turbo diesel Perkins from the Montego from the factory, I had an ex Royal Navy montego td and at the time it was fairly nippy so would be good in a van.
On mine I have a cone filter 50mm straight thro stainless zorst with a modest backbox turned the smoke screw in abit and it's very nippy for a smoky noisy olde gal despite running it on veg oil for a while
@@jackrussel853 they did on the later ex AA vans 👍
When I drive my maestro I always get stopped by someone hey I used to have one etc never a bad word from them! ;)
This is how we should ALL drive!!! Especially the Car- Enthusiast out there. No prissy trailer Queens ALLOWED
I Think the spoiler is from a Citroen ax GT. Possibly....
What a gem! Sounds superb, corners like a touring car and while I've always liked the way the van looks anyway this one in particular has the stance absolutely spot on!
Awesome motor!
Thanks for watching mate!
Great that this is still on the road, nice one.
Personally I don't like the 'rat look' and it would be nice (in my opinion) to see it without rust and holes, but fair play just my own taste.
Thanks for watching ! Regardless of ones own taste, I do agree that it's important we keep these old gals on the road by encouraging anyone who's curious to go out there and get hold of something old and different!
@@ShiftDawgie Amen !
Your Viper, Ferrari, GTR, etc..... SUCKS, that Van-Toy is way more fun.
🥰🥰😍🔥🔥✨
Its only a 3 bearing crank!!! Turbo an A series is no good
It survived over 4 years of abuse so I'd say it's more than adequate 👌
