As an immigrant, of European stock, I accepted the laws of the land from 1959 onwards, and expected others not born here to do the same. Many did, but not enough it now seems. Such an attitude prevails now in sections of the community who wish others not of their faith or backgrounds to conform to their worldview. If they don't we witness the street mobs and flag waving of those who seek to, impose their views on the 'non-believers'. It is unsettling, but such behaviour will never persuade me to forsake everything that has made me feel British to the core.

Those rioters were hardly ever arrested, compared to people who stood on the Capital grounds with flags on January 6th, who were kept in solitary confinement after being arrested sometimes years later. Thank you, David, for highlighting the issue of the two-tier class system for British citizens in their own country. From my perspective, there are 500,000 British expatriates, including myself, who live with frozen pensions. I am sixty-eight years old, and for the past two years, I have been receiving the same fixed amount as my pension, which I'll have to live on for the rest of my life. Additionally, my pension is reduced because I worked for a company that had contracted out of the government pension for 4 years. When I applied for the contracted out pension, I was informed that there were no remaining funds in the scheme, essentially meaning that I lost 4 years of pension that I had paid into. Furthermore, I have a friend who has been receiving the same pension amount for 14 years and is now under the old pension, while I am under the new pension. Even though he paid National Insurance throughout his working life, his lower salary at the time meant that he contributed less than I did. This difference in contributions has led to the introduction of a two-tier pension system. We, along with 500 British expats, have chosen to live in Thailand. We do not qualify for any cost of living allowance and have never received the Winter fuel allowance, which we understand. We do not burden the National Health Service and do not claim for other benefits available to those living in Britain. We are simply asking for our pensions to be unfrozen and to be entitled to receive any increases in the pension. We believe in a fair pension for all. Martin (Thailand)

Thank you, David, for highlighting the issue of the two-tier class system for British citizens in their own country. From my perspective, there are 500,000 British expatriates, including myself, who live with frozen pensions. I am sixty-eight years old, and for the past two years, I have been receiving the same fixed amount as my pension, which I'll have to live on for the rest of my life. Additionally, my pension is reduced because I worked for a company that had contracted out of the government pension for 4 years. When I applied for the contracted out pension, I was informed that there were no remaining funds in the scheme, essentially meaning that I lost 4 years of pension that I had paid into.
Furthermore, I have a friend who has been receiving the same pension amount for 14 years and is now under the old pension, while I am under the new pension. Even though he paid National Insurance throughout his working life, his lower salary at the time meant that he contributed less than I did. This difference in contributions has led to the introduction of a two-tier pension system.
We, along with 500 British expats, have chosen to live in Thailand. We do not qualify for any cost of living allowance and have never received the Winter fuel allowance, which we understand. We do not burden the National Health Service and do not claim for other benefits available to those living in Britain. We are simply asking for our pensions to be unfrozen and to be entitled to receive any increases in the pension. We believe in a fair pension for all.
