Why is everyone hating on evade entender and window? They're apart of the game its not like he's cheating. Plus they're great teachers of evading. And any doesn't world have lower i-frames than older games? The gameplay makes it obvious that OP understands what is actual high level switch axe gameplay. The magic lies in the spacing, evasion and morphing. Too many people reduce switch axe to a spam ZSD or spam infinite combo loop. One of the biggest things for me i hope for wilds is that the neutral axe attack hopefully is a downward slash like rise. The fact that all axe attacks in world/ib start with either a weak poke or weak side slash reduces the weapons ability to poke properly.
I love swaxe because I'm sitting here watching thinking about how other weapons have impressive looking moves but I never care for the and as I watched the way you play the skill expression just shines brighter than any other weapon I've seen.
Amazing montage, you reminded me to use more axe moves, cause i use axe only to move, morph atkk and power axe; for the alatreon i suggest you to zsd the head in escaton if never tried ;) and morph attk when he is casting linear thunders. And it was a pleasure to see all these moves 😊

it looks like the set has evade extender, and peak performance/quick sheath with the velkh greaves y+. i do wonder whats the whole set's skillset though...
@@grubbyarmadillo9863im not a switch axe user but i do know it has a slow sheath animation (like charge blade) and so you would want to have a faster sheath to quickly repos. (if the monster dashed far away) or quickly heal out of a fatal blow. so id say it is important
@@grubbyarmadillo9863 I wouldn't call it important, it's more quality of life than anything. It would take skill spots for the more important damaging skills.
It's a bit committal so it can be tough to use at first, but you should get it down with some practice. The 2nd hit of the morph sweep combo is switch axe's strongest move when it crits (stronger than the ZSD finisher, since that move can't crit) so definitely try to take advantage!
@@tauntmaster5wait hold on that’s not right? ZSD can absolutely crit it may look like an explosion but it lacks every quality of those moves (uses hitzone modifiers, doesn’t do fire dmg and it even has the indicator for crits in world) where did you source this info?
While the small explosions building up to the explosion can crit, the ZSD finisher cannot crit. Feel free to test it out in game with a 100% crit build and a 0% crit build.
the only weapon that i can't understand even after hours of trying and lots of tutorials. what's the purpose of each modes? both modes do deal good damage, but both has slow movesets? normal movement speed on axe mode isn't an advantage. sword mode attacks so slow it's either the monster hit you first or they move out of range. every hunt feels like a test of patience waiting for enough opening to do one set of attacks, thus making every hunts takes twice as long to complete compared to every other weapons i use. swaxe is the only weapon i ever felt wasted my time trying to learn.
Axe mode does decent damage but it's nowhere compareable to sword mode. Sword Mode attacks are much faster and higher DPS + higher burst damage due to phials and ZSM. Axe mode is supposed to be used when there are less openings and you need to be mobile while playing more of a hit and run strategy until you get an opening to use the sword mode. If you get better you can use the sword mode outside of big openings, but not for a long time, just for a couple of short attacks and switch back. It's normal to just do three slashes in sword mode and then switch back as example but it makes a difference. The biggest mistake people do is getting too greedy in sword mode and thus get hit or carted because they're either locked in animation or can't evade fast enough in sword mode. Another mistake is always trying to commit to the full ZSM, sometimes you have to adjust and finish the attack earlier. Also learn to utilize the retreating attacks of axe and sword mode as they're the only defensive moves the weapon has and they are quite handy at times even if they don't seem like it. When the monster is down and toppled you have enough time to go all out on and unleash on the monster with sword mode but outside of that you have to switch back and forth between the modes mid fight without staying in either mode for too long, if you can do that freely and without thinking too much about it, that's when you mastered the weapon. SA is a rather complex weapon despite what people think they're seeing and takes a lot of time to fully understand, but it's worth learning because if you master the dance you're capable of doing ungodly damage with one of the highest DPS weapons in the game, if not the highest.

I tend to stay in sword form and primarily use axe for the mobility or small openings, so I normally focus more on building Amped state rather than using Power Axe.

That's only if you're an optimizing andy. It's your mindset. You can play the switch style and still do really good instead of the braindead ZSM spam with mantles.
one completely valid switch axe style is to stay in axe mode and keep power axe mode on. Great flinch potential if you do it well. Switch axe in world is largely fine because both sword and axe mode have their purposes and valid strengths.

I liked Rise's take on switch axe, where the meta was switching between the two with Rapid Morph. Felt more like they emphasized the "switch" aspect.
