      @@blackfootedferret thankfully I don't have epilepsy. But I do have schizophrenia symptoms, I get strong deja vu episodes. I really hate it. It's like a nightmare, that I'm stuck in eternity repeating the same thing over and over. It's the scariest thing I've ever experienced. It really makes me question my sanity. I don't do drugs because it makes it 20 times worst. In the meanwhile I work on ignoring those thoughts and try to stay positive, it doesn't come natural, I really have to work at it.

      10 years ago when I was 17 I got assaulted in a dark alley. I got a traumatic brian injury to the left side of my brain. Ever since I had deja vu once a month but I didn't tell anyone because I was scared I was going crazy. As well as really bad migraines. I’ve been having them for about 10 years, my parents had no idea what I meant bc the way I explained it was basically “I get a strong wave of deja vu and I get a really sour taste in my mouth, get dizzy,nauseous,and then I forget everything that happened” them AND my doctor both looked at me like I was insane. I finally did some research and found out it was temporal lobe seizures

    I have TLE, the exact deja vu feeling, fear, confusion, memory loss. But it never spreads and turns into anything physical. Is that common? Or strange

      It's common, but can spread over time. Not trying to scare you. Only saying this from my own experience and in hopes that you seek the right care to get yours under control. I had the same symptoms as you for 15 years. Mine started in 5th grade. It wasn't until after I graduated college and was working for a few years when I had my first generalized seizure. That was nearly 10 years ago. They've become more frequent since then as well. I'm currently now looking at surgical options. Good luck Eva.

    I think this happened to me 2 weeks ago. 3 times in 2 days I had a feeling of INTENSE deja vu, which was accompanied by a sense of dread and feeling confused and light headed. I tried to make it to the restroom as I was not sure if I was going to vomit or what, but never did. Each time it hit I was in the kitchen cooking food. Thank GOD I had the foresight to step away from the stove when I felt it coming on. I tried to make it to the restroom each time but I never made it. I woke up 3 times in 2 days on the ground and I had hit my forehead in at least 2 spots on the hard tile floor. I am making an appointment to MHYMR in 2 days and I am going to mention this to them. I am trying to get treatment for severe social anxiety, bipolar and depression, but it seems to me that I might actually have TLE.

    This is very interesting. I never thought I was having seizures until some symptoms prompted my doctor to send me for testing. Results are not back yet, but I believe in addition to the Auditory seizures I was referred for, I’m also having seizures that mimic anxiety. I feel very out-of-body, I look at myself and my hands look weird and huge and my eyesight is sort of fishbowled, and I sort of feel like I’m not a part of the fabric of the universe, and I am both overwhelmed by anxiety and stuck in place. It feels like anxiety, but not, at the same time... like a panic attack rising but never arriving.

I never got checked because of my financial situation, but I've been doing research and this is the closest to what I feel, the dejavu feeling that makes me nauseous, the anxiety. I had it for at least 7 years before I got my diagnosis, I’ve been on medication since last summer and it has decreased my seizure frequency somewhat but I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of them. My temporal lobe must be scarred as hell from all these years of untreated epilepsy. My memory is really really bad, even though I am only 20. so yeah this is my experience with TLE. Since 2011 when im suffer from seizures disorder due to pasmatic work after I graduated in high school,sad to say my MRI results mark that I have"👉 Mild left hippocampal attrophy or mesial temporal sclerosis...
    I have maintenance until now,penobartal,its been almost 12 years,but still my seizures attack me for unknown reasons, that's why I'm not capable for hardwork.
    According to research if someone are suffering from seizures,even she/he taken anti convulsive drugs in long period of time,but it's not useful tool to heal or to stop from seizures,
    Medical research suggests only lobectomy is the proper tool to stop his/her seizure, because during operation,Dr.eliminate vein where seizures give signal..
    And that's what I pray for🙏🙏🙏🙏

    • @OutlawMantis
      @OutlawMantis 6 років тому

      If you really have no symptoms at all except temporary deja vu that doesn't impact you, tell your neuro you want to stop taking lamotrigine. Unless they're necessary avoid AEDs like the plague as they're a rabbit hole you should stay out of.

    • @OutlawMantis
      @OutlawMantis 6 років тому +3

      AEDs produce all sorts of side-effects which might affect your life even more than the epilepsy itself. I refer to them as that because you'll keep being put on more of them if one doesn't appear to work, they'll keep altering your dosages and they can really make you miserable. Trying one medication may lead to ten other kinds. I can't count the number of AEDs I've tried, and while they're helping slow the frequency with the current hodgepodge of AEDs I'm on now my seizures are still uncontrolled.
      Since you asked, I'll talk about it, though it'll end up a few paragraphs. I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy a decade ago. It's ultimately stolen those years from me, which has nearly been the entirety of my twenties, or as one guy put it once, "the best years of your life". TLE has affected me in different ways at different times. At one time I was having multiple tonic-clonics every day and I didn't even know where I was for weeks at a time. Nowadays I have a tonic-clonic around once a month and usually at least one focal (also called partial) seizure every day.
      The focal seizures can leave me unable to talk or do just about anything and I have to rest and do something to calm me down and take my mind off it, else there's a chance it will develop into a tonic-clonic. Though I can't do many things to take my mind off the focal seizure, since I no longer have the cognition to read for example. I found some simple phone games that help me keep my mind off it all until I feel better. Because of these focal seizures I can't do a lot of things. Driving is one of them, but many jobs are out of the question like manual labour, operating machinery, or even customer service. I currently live on welfare and it's not something I'm proud of.
      The tonic-clonics are really something else. They're very nightmarish and very strangely affect my perception of things, sometimes burning distorted sounds I hear into my memory. But it isn't the seizure itself that's the biggest problem (though, to be fair I badly scarred my face once during a tonic-clonic) as when I wake up I experience something highly unusual that despite my wording, I couldn't reasonably expect anybody who doesn't experience this to understand. When I come to I have complete temporary amnesia and *know* that I am about to die. Of course I don't know any better as I'm so out of it, but I always feel my whole body shutting down (for a lack of better words) and have constant palpitations. This whole thing is sometimes referred to as an "impending sense of doom". Presumably in a panic I often get up and try to go somewhere (in some cases to get water as I'm very dehydrated) but usually fail, collapsing and injuring myself.
      If I'm not at home I often end up in an ambulance. I really hate hospitals but it's something I have to deal with. The epilepsy has made me afraid of going to many places as I have bad memories of seizures in shops, schools, on trains, so forth. Ended up developing agoraphobia so I'm just a hermit now, though I was a bit social before the epilepsy.
      It wouldn't be a stretch to say epilepsy has ruined me, but I'm expected to have surgery quite soon (called a temporal lobectomy), so if all goes well I hope I can finally start turning my life around.

    Would like more information about possible doctors to preform surgery and how you knew to pick the right Doctor best suited for your left temporal lobe removal brain surgery. I have been suffering from seizures sense the age of 13 and am now a 27 female in Michigan. I have transferred neurologist best suited for adults finally, and am hoping to one day carry a child. They say seizure medications are out of the question for bringing a child into the world, and I am a good candidate for receiving brain surgery they believe is in my left temporal lobe. (I do take 3different medications that control my grandmal seizures, but still don't stop my mini seizures occurring...they guessed after being in the EMU I have more seizures then possibly traced) I have only seen my new neurologists 3 times total and have been getting tests done like crazy to find a cure. My health rests in the judgment of a doctor of Henry Ford Hospital that don't/hardly even know and feel so un-easy about. WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

      Not to scare you at all, but it can be over time. Scarring can occur and it can lead to worse seizures and slowly developing cognitive issues over time. First step is being referred to a neurologist and get testing completed to try and find the cause and get the seizures under control with medication. If medicine doesn't work, surgery is also an option. I say this with 26 year's dealing worth of TLE myself. Hope you're doing well and wish you the best Latisha.

    • @r.lemmons9403
      @r.lemmons9403 5 років тому +1

      It could be a panic attack, but it could also be a simple partial seizure in your temporal lobe. Both have very similar symptoms. If you don't have a neurologist, go to your family doctor, tell them what's going on and ask to be referred to a neurologist. They can do tests to determine if it is a seizure, and if so, what might be causing them and what to do to stop them. A lot of time, seizure disorders will worsen over time if they're not treated. Take care and good luck Rob.

      This is exactly what I was experiencing. Maybe 15 times in total and the actual seizure part would last only about 10 seconds or so followed by a few minutes of confusion and often times heavy sweating. I had the euphoric gastronomical feeling, dry throat, and often combined with deja-vu. I would also have dream-like episodes where I would speaking to someone and know what was going to be said, but then after the seizure I could not remember or recall the conversation. My family doctor referred me to a neurologist who arranged for me spend a week in the Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Long story short, I am now taking Lamotrigine (Lamictal) and the seizures are gone.

      It might be the same thing, because that's how I feel too. Like trying to remember a memory so hard, a memory you're not sure where it comes from, or if it was a dream, or something. Then my face gets really warm, and I get nauseous and feel like I'm gonna vomit. I go back to normal pretty fast but a few seconds afterwardw I do feel like I just un-tensed all the muscles in my body.
