Brendan Rodgers looks back on the day his Liverpool side welcomed then Premier League leaders Arsenal to Anfield, and delivered a devastating display of counter-attacking football. Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel both scored twice as the home side looked to pressurise the visitors in possession and break out at speed.

That board is a beautiful human being. Showed great character
And the same result again this season
Only difference being they scored first
Now do Brendan Rodgers, Tactics, Southampton 0-9 Leicester Masterclass
That was really brutal
Sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost my login password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Finn Atticus instablaster :)

@@finnatticus8794 what an interesting bot 🤔
beautiful human being
Home wrecker though who tried to steal his wife's property business
Terrific character
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
working hard and scoring goals
With beautiful human thighs
Rodgers was cutthroat that season. Admitted that they didn't want to just win games - they wanted to demoralize the league. Doesn't get enough credit for changing tactics and often winning in the first 20 minutes. When that didn't work, his second half tactical switches were mostly decisive. Gerrard was aging, but Rodgers found role that maximized his skills without exhausting his legs. Suarez continues to state Rodgers is an elite manager, despite the armchair dopes who say it was all Suarez (who had been at LFC for years before Rodgers unlocked his potential and smartly built the team around him).
But losing Suarez AND Sturridge without adding a similar attacker negated the strengths of Coutinho and Gerrard, and rendered the pressing system ineffectual. And wrongly sent Rodgers' reputation into the rubbish bin. Hopefully he ends up at another top club where he can bring that thrilling football. Just not against Liverpool...
Jurgen Klopp would've done the same if they didn't have to be in the same league as Guardiola and another top-quality squad
@wildebest what Benitez team ? LIVERPOOL 4 1 ? ua-cam.com/video/L0xWKnMclAQ/v-deo.html
Next United manager?
Very nice analysis.
Well hes absolutely ballin' at Leicester right now so definitly right my friend ;)
1 thing I can take away from this video is just how spot on Darren Farley's impressions are. :D
Thank you Brendan for 1 of the best seasons as a LFC fan! This match being one of the highlights for sure.
Andy Neo for coming second hahaha
+Rob 9 we haven't got much closer since...
G now.
Nearly so nearly that season. That bloody slip though. Great team great manager great season.
Derek Browne Suarez Team, Great Suarez, Suarez Season
yeah yeah it was all Suarez...even though he didn't even play at the start of the season....clueless
Derek Browne it wasnt the slip that cost Liverpool the title. It was the 3-3 draw with Palace in the second last game.
Derek Browne it wasnt the slip that cost Liverpool the title. It was the 3-3 draw with Palace in the second last game.
Lfc Spectre Suarez sterling sturridge .... All contributed that season. Did Suarez not miss 1/3 of season. ?
Really enjoyed watching that team from 13/14. Terrific. Thanks Brendan
Crazy how much the team has changed since then.
brian sevilla That's when you get a world-class manager/Coach like Jurgen Klopp. lol
Lfc Spectre doesn't Rogers have a better win record?
Chicha 17 Really you have cheek how many trophies has David Moyes West Ham fan?
Andy M No he doesn't Klopp has a better Win record.
It's no better. Rodgers record was better after same number of games played under Klopp.
Too many people don’t understand Rodgers. Some of the things he said are up for debate of course but that man can produce a masterclass in coaching and there’s no doubting it.
Are you watching, Stevie G ,you mite learn hear from a real manager😂
Leicester city 👏👏
Celtic 😭😭😭
You can tell just how much this season meant to him. The fact that he can still remember this game so clearly and fondly, probably just as well as the fans. And I have heard him speak about this game several times before this so the fondness he had for the team and this season, it is sort of humbling because it's weird to see someone so high up the pecking order in the game in comparison to me have the same level of passion for a game and a season that is now 4 years ago.
In a way I miss him but I do think we ended up better off, but I will never forget just how much he did for us with the squad he had. He laid the foundations for the true rebuilding of our club. Let's hope we can keep pushing forward and make that season only one of many that will live forever in our minds.
BattleKid619 great manager, we’re so lucky to have such a class act as manager right now 🍀👏🏻
Do one with Sir Alex Ferguson when he played SEVEN defenders against Arsenal and still won 2-0 !!
02:48 they target Ox using Henderson for pressure
Was in 305 for this. Will never forget it. What a ride that season was. Will always think fondly of Brendan because of it.
I love the professionalism of Rodgers. So unlucky not to win the league
what great revelation on how he utilizes monreal's tendency to overlap by making suarez stay high and get ready for a quick transition. i think this video is much more reliable than any tactical analysis in youtube simply because you give the analysis directly from the man himself. hope you bring us a lot of videos like this!
Love you Brendan Rogers. So so close to being an LFC legend with a wonderful club. Lovely man. Beautiful human being
There likely hasn't ever been a game of elite club football in which a side flying as high as Arsenal were at the time got destroyed and buried under 4 goals in the opening 19 minutes! The best shot of the match didn't even go in: Suárez's cannon rattling off the goalie's right upright with Szczęsny reduced to spectating... Scarcely believable stuff!
YNWA
y1521t21b5 I remember that shot for the reason that when kolo you're turned around to see the rebound it bounced of his shin and past the post
Should that have gone in, it would have been one of the best ever premier league goals. Shame Toure missed the rebound.
Oh how the tables have turned..
The team had wonderful character.
He might be the only coach who calls every one by first name, respect
0:33 Knew he would get a mention. 😂
Deserves more respect. Excellent coach, develops young talent, builds attractive attacking sides, and is well-mannered, too, which is good to see.
'I thought the group showed great character' was the most consistent phrase this man used in the hours of post match non-committal dross he came out with. I think he and Martinez went to the same media training school.
What Rodgers did with Henderson was superb. Henderson went from being nowhere to running everywhere. God, he harried like a mongrel. This left Stevie G to become more of a playmaker. I agree with Carragher, losing Henderson cost us the title.
Some people still think he's a joke but he nearly won the league w Sissoko, an aging Kolo and Jon Flanagan in the back 4 w Mignolet in goal. If Hendo hadn't gotten a red card and missed 3 games LFC would have won the title that year. Will always love BR and know he'll get his title somewhere eventually.
Character
Dan Everitt Bad Character
Intensity
Petrolosis you'll need that tonight old man.
ur dead gran was?
Honesty of the group, okay.
Just goes to show how much fans rate reputation; Rodgers is quite clearly one of the most skilled managers in world football, yet certain fans will just laugh at a statement like that, taking out-of-context-facts as evidence. Really didn't want him to be sacked, but at the same time, I was glad we brought in Klopp. He will go on to manage a big team again.
CA VG mate he does manage a big team HH
He manages a big club in a shit league but he will get loads of time to developer in Europe. We need to play more competitive teams to see the actual skill level our players are at because playing teams like partick, sevco etc won't show the players we brought in their true colours, we want a team the can compete in the highest level of european football.🍀
Aidan Kelly doesn't really apply when you're a big fish in a small pond
Sully S mate im no gonna lie our league is dog shite but the PL is a wee bit boring my opinion
Aidan Kelly, what is boring about the PL? We've had four different title winners in the last 5 seasons, and there hasn't been a successful title defence since Man Utd won it 3 years in a row 2007-09 (so will be 8 years of changing title-winners by the time City confirm the title this year). Not too many leagues you know about can boast that.
Imagine being Brendan Rogers' wife at the dinner table having to listen to this every night.
ARandyFatDude his wife is a beautiful human being, working hard scoring goals
After sex talk, he even gets board out
Kolo Toure is the most beautiful human being alive. 😂.
I’m a Man United fan but Brendan Rodgers is a great human being with great character 😂
fantastic, fantastic
Mr Brad Fieldhouse he is a beauutifful human being
theballackfan 13 To Brendan everyone is a beautiful human being especially Kolo Toure. 😂
Mr Brad Fieldhouse Outstanding comment
Kopite4life12 You showed hard work to send this message.
Actually... The Best british coach.
Brendans a terrific guy with great character
Great video really enjoying the content from this channel
Kolo toure ha haha beautiful human being
eric mourinho great character
The football channel I’ve been waiting for!
He's a good match for Leicester. I think he will do well in that environment - though it's difficult to see how they can improve much in terms of league table position.
Masterclass is right. So pleased to have this man at Celtic. Love the managerial insight.
Jeremy Wood can't tell if you're serious or being sarcastic 😂
Okay bro !! Your opinion matters so much to me 😉😂
Genuinely pleased! Love the job he is doing for us.
Jeremy Wood okay mate good that you really like him we still remember his 13/14 season fondly !!
So much respect for this guy one minute into the video. Absolute genius
Fantastic.
I loved this Liverpool side working hard and scoring goals.
Are there plans for more of these?
It'd be lovely.
Rodgers was phenomenal in bringing exciting football. Some games he even utilised the diamond formation.
watching this after emery got sacked.
He's great but he always struggles in the end. Same happened with Leicester. I'm sure he'll get even better.
He deserve that Premier League
Love how insightful this was
fascinating watch. conversely would fall into 'must-watch' footage were he to analyze his defeat to Mourinho's Chelsea at Anfield later that season.
Next Manchester United manager here
Is it possible to buy these tactics boards somewhere? They look insane!
They said they aren’t available for public purchase 😢
Great technician
One of the best games I've ever season
Beautifully explained
Does anyone know anything about the tactics board used in the video? What is the name of it, who makes it, and/or where is it available?
All I know is it's a beautiful, beautiful thing.
Upper Reach Academy of Goalkeeping eBay
God I miss Skrtel, he was a legitimately terrifying human. He scored 7 odd goals that year to top it all off
Luke Johnson he was fucking shite
And scored about 8 own goals... 😂
Oh he’s isolated Skrtel here
@@jamesormrod3197 OH YEEEEEEES
@@MT-zw1ti WELCOME TO MANCHESTER UNITED, ANTHONY MARTIAL!!!!
I will always respect this man, he brought in the best striker in the world and had a shit defence and still almost won us the league, wish we would’ve won it but you can’t always get what you want :(
So when does the masterclass begin?
Exactly
He showed great character in this video
Arsenal played to Liverpool's strength that day. They played with Mertesacker at the back in a really high defensive line and without protection from the midfield whatsoever. Madness...
Great technicians
Brendan Rodgers didn't have a backing of LFC owners, or control in transfers.Looking back he was a great manager, still is.
Would be awesome if they cut in video of the game too.
The difference between that lfc defensive line up then the one now is stark
I love this guy , if he had the players ( mo salah , manè , vvd , ferminjo , fabinho & others ) ofcourse he's going to win the league
Beautiful human being who is full of character
Darren Farley comes to mind 😂😂
LEGEND
Love Brendan, comes from the arsenal fan
“I played Daniel down the middle because of his pace against Mertesacker.” Ouch...
Beautiful human being x
Outstanding intensity in that boy, he's a beautiful technician
A brilliant tactically acute manager
Absolute genius using pace against Mertesacker! Who would ever of thought it?
Well I’m very proud to be here
Yeah I’ve seen all I need to for arsenal to go and get him now ASAP
🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 here we go ten a row
Great character. Beautiful beautiful boy.
Ask him to explain the master class tactics against real madrid in the champions league game 2014/2015
I really like soccer. 👍
BR has got a very good footballing idea & identity to manage a football team. Such a shame as compared to Klopp or Guardiola, he don't have the name to bring in top players to his club.
It was actually 4th vs 1st that day
His got so much character
Great character
Young Louis was really, really unselfish in this game. We missed young Jamie, but I thought Raheem - for such a wee, young boy - was outstanding; his Mammy can be very proud of him tonight.
Jorg Cooper normal comment
He's an impressive British manager. I just wish he was less tactically naive in the big games in Europe where Liverpool and Celtic have struggled under his guidance. Hopefully that game against Zenit is the start of good performances of his teams in Europe
Great insight and character from Brendan. Now make an analysis for Liverpool 0 - 2 Chelsea game please.
He never had a plan to beat Chelsea and they never were going to .
YNWA Brendan Rodgers
John Farrell 😂😂😂😂
YNWA Hail Hail 👏🏻🍀
Welcome to Leicester!
Haha is it just me but did he try to throw shade at Ozil but complimented him 😂
Do explain
Possibly one of the only highlights. No one remembers Bodgers in Liverpool.
I think hes a great manager with the right players, but after that season there was a lack of runners in behind in attack, i remember coutinho would pick the ball up and have no one in front to aim for so would pass it backwards, he was great at through balls too but Balotelli would just stand there
Watching this after united been linked to him..would love him at united if possible
David Brent at his best.
Working hard, scoring goals.
Am I the only United fan here who's getting this recommended now😂😅
Nevertheless, he's far, FAR better than the clueless one we have right. Man's got to go at least for the sake of all his legacy and our love for him as a player, a legend.
''Coutinho?.... he was a beautiful human being of a person!''
999DaveUK it'll be a huge step up for the boy when he's allowed to move to Celtic. Luckily Barca's a decent place to up his skill levels in the meantime
ur dead gran was a horrible bastard of a human being
He's at CELTIC talk about the old firms or the now 2 trebles he's won in 2 seasons ANY of those matches would've been class 💚💚💚💚☘☘☘☘💚💚💚💚
I think in this moment we showed great character... BOOM HAHAHAHA
Basically Rodgers was a master at using his players strengths
Brendan Rodgers class coach, mid table manager
It was a big result, but wasn't the real story of this match "Skrtel randomly scores two set piece goals early after which Liverpool just passed really well on the counterattack", rather than some sort of special tactical gem?
Shows CHARACTER!
This was back in 2013/2014 but how he targeted ozil is still relevant today. This video in my opinion sheds more light on rodgers' comment on how arteta has treated ozil. Ozil is a tactical liability.
a tactical liability when the team can't create chances. Funny. Players like ozil just need a good and strong midfield, they will do the rest - create, create, create. These players are unique
@@wyntamaxwell2766 maybe u never watched dis game. Watch this game again if you can and see how ozil was exploited. And the funny thing is, it happened many times.
