- While we have a list of ingredients, nobody really knows how Combos are made. There is little to no information about Combos on the internet, which begs the question: what are they hiding? But not to worry, pastry chef Claire Saffitz is on the case! Join her as she attempts to unpack this mystery and make gourmet Combos!

Most American snacks I've heard of because they're mentioned in tv, books, movies etc but this is the first one I've genuinely never heard of once.

@Fe Car I think the alkaline part of baking soda may injure the skin in some form, since she's using a lot of it
@Fe Car Alkaline is the opposite of acidic and just like acids, strong alkalines are corrosive and can cause burns. Baking the baking soda decreases it's pH, making it a strong alkaline instead of a weak one.

Eh, they all overlap to an extent. I read a lot of Claire's focus on doing well (like the "did I get an A?" in this and a lot of gourmet makes videos) as wanting to be The Smartest And Most Skilled. Not necessarily better than everyone else, but at the "top of the class" for sure.
