It was the best phone that I had ever owned. But after boot looping, I had called Google for a repair. They redirected me to Huawei and then Huawei redirected me to Google. I still love the Nexus series, but that was the insane customer service. Nothing was solved in the end. I would love if Google re-released the Nexus under the Pixel line as a cheaper alternative.

I recently unboxed an unopened 5X. It was great, but the first thing I did was check for known issues and the first thing I found was “disable the performance cores because their heat will cause issues” and “keep it in low power mode to keep heat low”.

Fun fact. Huawei Made two other phones at the same time with similar designs. The smaller Huawei Nova 1st gen and the Large Honor Note 8. My theory is that there was originally going to be a Huawei Nova 1 Pro which was turned into the Nexus 6P.

Every Nexus was based on a design implemented by the manufacturer, it wasn't a coincidence. The 2014 Nexus 6 was basically just a Moto X running Google's vision for Android over Moto's Motoblur skin, or whatever they called it at the time. In fact, buying a higher end Moto G like the 2023 G Stylus 5G, or the Moto Edge/Edge+ is more akin to buying a Nexus than buying a Pixel is

After I heard - Snapdragon 810 , I knew it is going to be bad. It was just after Snapdragon 808 hit the market and both - 808 and 810 had thermal issues in every phone they were inside. I wanted Nexus phones due to updates , as getting a new os update meant - buying a new phone , I think they kinda looked iPhone-ish , not really sure if that was how I thought about them , but the lack of expandable storage on later ones felt like letdown. I still think that front firing speakers are good thing , especially if watching / listening something and adding a slit under the screen , like they do at the top isn't hard feature to achieve , only gaming phone segment has them. But I don't like their looks and they try to be mobiles and handhelds at the same time , but fail usually in both.

The 6P had a really nice build and felt super sleek in the hand although on the larger side. The only issue for me was that the battery on mine, since the first day was never a full day battery and it got really hot very often. It only got worse after a year. Loved using it tho cause the software was so clean 👌

I feel like you're underrating the camera slightly. This was the first camera Google shipped that really started to pull ahead of the iPhone. It basically had night sight before Google started calling it that. You had to hold the phone steady for 3 seconds or so and the pictures took another 5 seconds to process but what you got looked incredible. I'm looking at pictures I took on it in Bangkok in November 2015 next to what my wife took on her iPhone 6s and the 6P's pictures look an full generation ahead of what the iPhone could do at the time.

I really miss the nexus line of phones. I never missed the software updates on any devices since the software updates ended up being detrimental to how the phone operates and works because the phone operates and works better before any software updates have applied. When doing software updates, it even says that updates can't be reverted back. App updates can be reverted back to the most reliable and stable versions in case something goes wrong with the app updates or the apps but the same thing can't be said about software updates in case something goes wrong with the software updates or something related to the software after an update has already happened. I have devices that last way longer than any devices that receives software updates. It's not like the apps stops working completely or any features from the apps are no longer being supported being affected by not doing any software updates. With software updates, certain apps have been updated and not all apps have been updated by the developers. Software updates even remove features that were still being used or had useful features that the consumers were still using. Software updates can be manipulated on purpose in order to sell something new when something new comes along the way as some form of replacement for the previous or older models. For example, the spotify car thing are being bricked with software updates and even bluetooth audio devices like headphones and earbuds can be manipulated by software updates to make the experience worse and than a newer model comes out and more people gravitate to something newer because the previous model does not work reliably or is completely broken or even bricked. There is no law against planned obsolescence and force arbitration since it's already included in the terms and conditions. Planned obsolescence and force arbitration has become normalized even though people complain about not like what is happening but it gets swept under the rug because everyone is doing it.

It's crazy to think that my 2023 Moto G Stylus 5G that i paid less than $300 comes double the RAM out of the box & it even has a "performance" feature that let's you convert up to 6 more gigs of it's 256gb of internal storage into usable RAM. I'm not the first person to say this, but i think the real innovation of 2020's era smartphones actually lies with what manufacturers have been able to do with "mid-range" smartphones. I would even say that even though the Nexus 6/6P were trying to compete with the flagship phones of Samsung, HTC, Sony & Apple, they actually laid the ground work for usable mid-rangers, as before about 2016-2018, a $270 smartphone would look & perform more like a $60 Walmart special of today

Went to Google who sold me the phone, they said not their problem and said go to Huawei who said not their problem, speak to Google. Neither helped so I went to a third party, they couldn't fixed it. Loved the phone and Android, but to date it's the last Android phone I owned. Went iPhone after that

    I enjoyed it.
My only complaint was getting the 32gb variant especially because I was used to 512gb micro SD cards lol

You can disable some cores to stop bootlooping

That apparently only is a temporary fix as the solder under the little cores will eventually crack too. Even before that happens using the phone with only the little cores is an exercise in futility. I only flashed the core disabler to make a final backup of my data and it was atrocious.

All Nexus have circular icons, idk what you did to have square icons in your 6P

I had a battery issue after 2 years. But I ended up taking it apart and swapping out the battery and did not upgrade until the pixel 3.

I had so many battery issues with this thing during my two years of ownership that I was happy to get rid of it for a OnePlus 6, but I'd be lying if it didn't feel like a solid piece of hardware when it actually worked.

This was a great phone, until I got the boot loop issue. It ended up working out because when I called Google for support they replaced it with the first Pixel XL.
