Love this video used it on my rack about 4 years ago and I’ve had no issues. It’s been through 2 moves already and has held up great never tipped over with 585 lbs on squat and 385 on bench No warping either.
I've been mulling over whether or not to spend the money it will cost to make a quality platform in order to support my power rack. Having just watched your video, I'll definitely be going to the store this afternoon and pick up your recommended list of items. Thanks! ☺️
I noticed that Titan makes an X3 flat foot design, which basically just looks like they added metal ski's to connect the back uprights to the front uprights and they extend a few inches past the uprights. For those of use with bolt down models and don't want to make a full platform, do you think you could basically just throw down a 2x8 under each set of uprights, thus creating homebrew Flat Foot wood ski's? I'm thinking by extending the 2x8's five or six inches past the front and back posts this would help prevent the rack from tipping in the front to back direction but was curious what your thoughts are? Thanks!
You mentioned that you measured out where the holes should be instead of letting the rack dictate the holes. How did you accomplish that? What dimensions did you use? Do you have a drawing?
Has anyone actually been successful with this. I bought the smallest diameter carriage bolts possible, 1/4 inch. And they are still too big to fit through the holes in the foot of the rack.
Im 15 and just bought a T3 rack. It gets here tomorrow. I already understand how to build my platform but this part is a little confusing to me. Do I just get some Lag bolts to bolt it down Orr?
Sweet, good for you. As far as booting the rack down goes, it depends on what you’re bolting it down to. Are you attaching to the floor or just the platform?
I can’t remember exactly what size bolt it was. Make sure you get a carriage bolt if you’re gonna do it like I did. Lag bolts have a point and big threads like a wood screw. Carriage bolts don’t have a point and they have smaller threads.
does just 1 sheet of 3/4in plywood cause any problems? ive seen most people reccomend 2 sheets, id like to use just 1 though for cost+ i dont want my platform to stick out a ton
@@PatrickLarson I'll add to this excellent recommendation. If you do have 3 layers (3 ply or 2 ply plus rubber) then you can lag screw from the top into the wood. It's rock solid and much more convenient. I've done it both ways and prefer lag screwing instead of carriage bolting.
@@amega001 I'd say a 3/8 diameter hex lag screw. 2.5 inches in length, plus a washer. If you have 3 layers of 3/4 inch ply/rubber then that would equal 2 1/4 thickness. Add 1/4 inch for the the steel footing and thickness of the washer. There's no way the lag screw can pierce the bottom of the wood into your foundation. Drill a 3/8 pilot hole first. Then use a 9/16 socket to screw in the lag hex bolt. Excellent holding power. My friend is a 600lb squatter and he slams the weight into the rack. something like this: www.homedepot.com/p/3-8-in-x-2-1-2-in-Grade-18-8-Stainless-Steel-Hex-Lag-Screws-25-Pack-9056239/310668874
@@ClangandBang I'm pretty sure its over hyped and being used to make people comfortable with us losing our freedoms. At least in America. There is not proof that quarantining is effective. Rather there is evidence that it is ineffective. The total deaths in the US will most likely barely pass in the 2018 flu season (80k). I am going full tinfoil hat on this one. I also think ( and there is evidence) that hospitals are claiming covid deaths for people passing away of other causes.
Yeah dude, there’s a part of me that leans that direction too. I feel like there’s definitely some shady stuff going on behind the scenes all around the world. This virus doesn’t seem deadlier than the flu to me, but it does spread way faster. That is likely what makes it seem worse than it is.
@Huginn Bodgaedir I didn't mention anything about fake deaths. What I am referring to is the fact that people who die of other causes ( cancer, heart attack, respiratory problems) who also have the virus (carriers or not) are being seen and counted as covid deaths. This is not my opinion. I have sources if you are interested. It is not up for interpretation. This is 100% the fact of the matter. ESPECIALLY when the patients are on Medicare. The price the gov't gets for a regular patient with Medicare is around 3k. with Medicare and has covid 19k ish. with Medicare and on a ventilator around 39k. My numbers are going to be a little off. I am doing this from memory. I also have sources for this. Without coming across as disrespectful I have to disagree with your reaction to this. Facts do not care how close you are to the situation. You having family members die of covid does not strengthen your argument in the slightest. This virus has shown no evidence that it is going to be more deadly than a bad flu season. In the 2018 flu season we had over 80k deaths in the US. We are at around 60-65k right now WITH inflated numbers. The total cause of mortality is not up. People are not dying at a higher rate. Check the cdc's website. Yes quarantining can work. More extreme versions can. Doing so is a violation of our freedom in my opinion. I believe there a few lines that should never be crossed. My ability to move freely within our country, my ability to protect myself, and my ability to say what I want. If you have sources that say something opposite to what I am saying and you are up for a healthy discussion about this I would be more than happy to talk with you about this. I genuinely want to come as close as I can to having the correct opinion on this matter.
“...get over it and stop making fun of me.” 😂😂😂🤣🤣
😉👍🏻
An alternative to carriage bolts from underneath are T-nuts - install underneath, then screw in regular hex bolt from the top.

I need this man to come to my house and build my new squat rack for me when it comes in
It's 2022 has your rack come in yet
same here!
9:55 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m subbing
Yeah boy!! I appreciate it! 👍🏻😎
This solution worked so well for me! Thank you so much!!!
Using those spiked braces works awesome. I did it with the same kind of mats and they are rock solid now.
Yes! I finally got around to putting some on the plywood, under the mat. It’s working great. 😎👍🏻
What are they called?
Can someone point in the direction of the braces you're talking about?
They're called mending plates. Alan Thrall has a video on building deadlift blocks that mentions using both T nuts and mending plates.
Thank you for all the information. Next, I need to do some homework to calculate the size of my bolts.

Sorry idk but the plural of ski is *skis not "ski's" (apostrophes do not pluralize words).
For I know the plans I have for you!! Subscribed bro ✊🏾
Jeremiah 29:11, that verse is HUGE in my life right now. Thanks for sub bro. 🙏🏻
Thanks for your video
So it looks like you need at least a good 1-2 feet of platform for the carriage bolts to fit on top of garage flooring right?
Good stuff since vendors like Rogue Fitness and Hammer Strength require the power rack to be bolted down to the floor.
You mentioned that you measured out where the holes should be instead of letting the rack dictate the holes. How did you accomplish that? What dimensions did you use? Do you have a drawing?
The bolt has to match the holes at bottom of the rack
Great explanation👍 earned a sub
Dude!! I appreciate it! 👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent
Can you do a startup and video tour of the fire trucks and brush truck
Good tip. Now just to wait for the price of plywood to return to normal.

Why can't I squat heavy?
Why not just use a flat head carriage bolt?
They make flat head carriage bolts?! Why have I never heard of this? 😳 I for real have never seen one before.
just use a concrete industrial adhesive, easy to sawzall out when need to move
You are saying to adhesive the rack on top of the stall mats??
Thanks

Clang and Bang just the platform. And what size lag bolt should I get for the T3 rack?

What size are the carriage bolts? can you look it up for me? Pretty please
Insecure? Unsecure?
I just bolt my rack to platform with lag bolt..
Much easier and good for most people not lifting 1000lbs. Just don't re-rack stupidly.
Will you please come bolt one of my racks down
Yeah man, no problem.
@@ClangandBang did you come through?

Use three, actually. It's important for bolting the rack down well. 2.5" needed for the bolt to have enough strength. Don't skimp on safety.

Same here. I would really rather just use one sheet of plywood + stall mat. Seems like it works for the guy in the video.
How do you feel about how locked down America is currently?
I think it’s gonna take a while to bounce back. Some of it I can see being necessary, but most of it needs to open back up.
What are your thoughts?
