1000 watt RMS is a very conservative rating for this sub. I have 2 of them running off a rp3500 and haven't had any problems. Been booming em for about 6 months now.
That sounds great because I just ordered a 3k watt amp for the pair, I'm running them in a 2.7 cube box at 34hz so it's undersized and should take the power better than if it was at it's recomended
I have 2 of the ddx 12's dual 4ohm on an Audiopipe APDLI 2000.1. They're in a 2:1 ratio 4th order bandpass tuned at 38hz. Dude these things freakin slap in a 4th order, try it out you won't be dissappointed!
I have 2 skar ddx 12d4 install reverse in a box that i built with 4,5ft3 gross volume and 3,2ft3 net volume and a port of 14,5 x 4" by 30" long(34x16x18"). I have it in the Trunks of my Jetta and the Hole car shaking. It peak at 32 Hz and Play low as 20hz. For the Price it's the best purchase I ever done.

I blew my DDX 10 I had in my truck but it was totally my fault. I had an amp that was way too much for it and didn’t wire it correctly to keep it safe. Still haunts me 😂 it’s a great sub.
I've seen the ddx take over 4000 watts per sub without any issues. I've got 2 on a smart 3k going up to a smart 5 after I get my electric well enough to handle it.
first, i love these videos. you’re not here to trash any brands and have an honest assessment of each. i just bought (2) DDX-12D4 and waiting on a SK2X12V ported enclosure which will go into my car. i’ll be pushing them with a Rockford Fosgate R1200-1d to each sub @1ohm. i currently have a set of 12” Sundowns Ev3’s also powered by a single Rockford Fosgate R1200-1d in my truck. and for them only being rated at 500 RMS, they get down. those subs are no joke. i feel Sundown has them at a very conservative RMS rating. i’ve never had any issues with Skar products before but never had any of their subs. so i decided to grab a set of DDX 12’s to see how they stack up with some of my previously owned subs. at $159 each, i won’t be out so much if i don’t like them or if i have any issues with them. seems like they’re above average subs for the price. my favorite subs , by far, were my Type R’s. if they weren’t so god damn expensive, i would’ve just bought them again. i’m not gonna be competing or anything with the DDX ‘s. but also want to get the most out of them without damaging them. can’t wait to get everything installed and see what these are all about.

My brother in law has 2 Ddx skar 12’s and they are hooked up to a rp 2000 and he absolutely loves them last time he checked they were 149 at 39 hertz and that’s in a 97 Honda Accord 4 door with a pioneer 80prs head unit which is also one of the best units u can use one of the only radios u can turn all the way up with no clipping and it’s only 250ish on amazon hopefully this will answer your questions
Elemental design in like 2003 had a sub almost identical to the DDX and SA. They are the first ones i know to have that design. The elemental design used a 3" coil though. So really the sundown and skar copied them but nobody talks about that. Good video though
I was just checking out the specs for a box for this and you can go with a slightly smaller box tuned to 34 Hz 1.5 to 2, not bad for a 159 dollar sub, and basically the same materials and quality as the sundown.
Only thing that use to be the same was the basket an with the new sa they have absolutely nothing in common.... u should do some research before making uneducated statements like that lol

I have two SA 12 Rev 3 and one SA 12 v2, I am switching out my two 12s for the one SA 12 v2, because I like the lows and that is what people have been saying about the v2 SA 12.

Get the skar audio 3500 or 4500 rp I have the 4500 it’s a awesome amp I had the 3500 loved that one as well my whole setup is skar audio and I can’t say enough good things about them I absolutely love them
You would definitely be happy with the skar 4500 watt amp. The SK 1500 watt RMS amp pushes 2 of my 12 in SA but the RP 4500 watt amp should make you happy that pushes two of my 15-inch X Series Sundown Audio

Get you a 8k amp something proper that you can still fit so that power is never the concern and a 35hz enclosure which is the typical musical styled setup so that each sub sounds fine
It does get a litter lower hence the bigger motor. I heard don’t know if this is true but I heard that Jacob from sundown helped design the ddx. But once again love the videos can’t wait to see the battle!!! KEEPEM COMING!!!
Peak power doesn't matter it's the rms that matters on any sub amp max power it to make you think it can give you that power and it can't rms is what matters people and the skar ddx is a good sub I know a person running four of them on the skar 4500 and his truck pounds good sub
I have the DDX 15 and I'm pushing a little over 1300 Watts and it's rated a thousand watt RMS 1500 watt Peak and it never gets hot I can run it for over 15 minute drive a little over halfway up and never get hot or warm so I know they can get more power at least 1,400
I run my 12inch DDX on 1200w rms everyday. It’s never even gotten smelly, I feel like you should try to feed it some more power cause it seems to only go up to 800-900ish watts on the meter
Im running 3 of these 1 ohm each with a rp 1200.1 on each one.need to upgrade my reserve batteries.bumps decent. Wouldnt mind going with a taramp 8k powering the 3 of them.eventually upgrading the subs.always enjoy the content bud
I think Skar underrates their subs, I have a IX-10d2 (rated for 200 rms) it was pushing 305 rms from a Kicker cx300.1 for 6 months, then I got a Rockville RXA-T1 pushing 670 rms, with OFC 4ga (from 2 batteries) to OFC 8ga (sub/box), been running that for a year now no issues.

I put was recently given the D2 12” and wired it 4 ohm at 550 on a Skar Rd1500.1 very happy with it. Wired it to 1 0hm and through all the power at it, I didn’t think it sounded as good but def rattled the truck!
Just grabbed a Audio Legion S2512d4 for 60 bucks on their website. It was the last one. They are a ddx clone. Ironically the packaging outside box it arrived in said Skar Audio on it. I assume I can use the ddx recone for my Audio Legion. What a deal. They are selling for 250 in some places. I snagged a Q bomb side port box for it. That should match nicely with my Skv2 1500.1d at 2 ohm. That will give it somewhere around 1000 rms. I have 2 svr 10s in the side port box from skar in my car now, I just want something different for a while. I drive 2 hours a day and need my trunk a good bit at times so big systems are not an option for me anymore so I've been experimenting with these smaller systems. I love my svr 10s, they get low af ironically. I never heard 10s go so low. I hope I like the single Audio Legion S2512 in the q bomb. We will see soon. I couldnt pass up that deal.
I have one of these but its the 2ohm version. I've had it wired down to 1ohm with a Hiphonics 2400w Zeus amp. I've also had it wired up to 4ohms with same amp. BOTH 1ohm and 4ohm bump like crazy but at 1ohm its using roughly 2400 watts. Im about to wire at 2 ohms which is stock for this sub. Anyways, it hits so hard with no complaints other than how Skar basically ignored me because the mounting holes are too far in towards center and have damaged the rubber ring on the speaker as wel as the Skar speaker box mounting area. The screws rip through the partical board because they're too far in. Im literally out of area to screw into and Skar won't do anything because I can't find my receipt. I mean I get it but still I paid good money for both the sub and box(before everything went on sale) and Skar won't even offer a discount for a new box or at least a new mounting ring so I can screw the sub into the box properly. You can totally see the holes in the metal part of the sub don't match with the rubber ring. I sent pics and everything. I love Skar products but God forbid a costumer lose their receipt then you're s*it out of luck.

Hey Parker what is the break-in like on the DDX? Did u notice a big difference in sound from when u installed it, compared to later down the road after it had been played for a while? I have 2 ZVX & i noticed such a difference in sound after it was broke in!! I was able to turn the amp up along with the volume & now the subs straight pound!!!! I have owned subs made by, MTX, Fosgate, kicker, & others never have i heard such a difference in sound after they were broke in!
O and definitely think you should do a pair of 18” budget subs in the Yota!!! And do some budget amp testing videos!!! That would be awesome but just idea!!!
Did you see the Wolfram Copper Series? I heard it’s a 750W Subwoofer starting at $179, they’ll be in stock December 31. I think it would be a cool budget sub to compare to the Dark Audio NKO 12.

By the look of the flex, it almost looks like you have the sundown in there lol, looks like it perform damn near identical and you dont even have that thing wired to 1 ohm. The sundown was wired at 1 ohm right?
Parker Dacchille another difference of the subs, skar claims the ddx should be in a 2.5 cube box, while sundown recommends 1.75-2 cubes. Honestly i think a SA recone would drop right into the ddx

@@ParkerTheBasshead Orion Hcca 5k is $899 on Amazon, and I bet it puts out over 7k-8k real world watts. Not too shabby. I have the 2500.1dz currently, and it's treated me very well. I know BigDWiz did the Orion Hcca 3k video, and that amp was amazing, pushing something like 5k watts.
I had a pair of subs of the ddx 15s but for some reason the kicker cvx 15s sounded deeper and better. Am still figuring out on which subs i should stay with either the kicker cvx 15s or skar ddx 15s any toughs?
that is basically the same sub as the sa 12 rev 3, same size voice coil and basket but the sa 12 v2 has a slightly bigger voice coil , basket and motor.
are you gonna use welding cable for the sequoia? i bought 0awg welding cable from ebay, 50ft cost only $130.00, i bought it early this year. id suggest the xtr2500.1dz for the next amp since it puts out over 1000w @ 4ohms and its a korean board. lastly i suggest running supercaps that emf is selling for dirt cheap instead of multiple agms. the agm in the jeep and a bank of the supercaps is sufficient enough for a 2-3k rms after rise

i’m not parker but the best advice i could give you is save some money and get the SVR-12s 127$ a piece and does 800 rms. your’re going from 1200 watts rms too 1600 watts of rms.

@@johnjacob9976 how do you like it, I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the evl, yet with the pair of ddx's I save 80 bucks, I'm on the fence, I like the fact that the evl has a 3 inch coil and can handle a little more watts, yet saving 80 bucks on a pair of subs that preform almost as well that I can use the money on a better amp sounds great as well.
@@zachmasters7397 so... I currently own sdr, ddx, evl, and vxf. Ddx are better than evl in my opinion but only because I’m more into spl. Evl is definitely better sq but vxf is far superior to both

Get a half ohm Taramps MD12k. You will be able to use in with many different impedance combinations, whether 4 ohm, 2 ohm, 1 ohm, or even a half ohm. You should be able to power any sub with this amp, or even dual sub setup. You wouldn't need to buy another amp for a while, unless you decided to do a huge SPL build with 4 or more subs. You could get by with a single high output alt, and plenty of capacitance. Lithium is always a great choice for a new build, and LTO technology is getting less expensive than even AGM, plus its better. It's a lil money overall, but a little here and a little there is definitely worth it. I bought a second alt, and working on my third lithium bank. I bought a JS 390 to go with my CES 320. Thinking of putting my original alt back on the truck to run the truck's electrical, and fabricating a bracket to hold both of the high output alts to power the system. You have a sizable vehicle to fit a larger enclosure. Make sure you will be able to upgrade with the equipment that you buy, that way you won't get stuck with a lot of equipment that you won't be using. That's a waste of resources. Just plan on going big and buy for the end goal. Great videos. Keep it up!

The skar looks nice! I guess I’ll try a skar subwoofer at some point. Maybe even make a video on it. Also I look for amps with a higher rms at 2 and 4ohm where it usually rises anyway.
Yep that's what I've ALWAYS looked for most ppl don't factor in the box rise and your equipment will run cooler at 2and 4 ohm 1ohm tends to run hot ecspecially if your wife gauges aren't correct and of high quality👍🏾
skar for sure., I use to be a kicker fan. Skar hits good really low. I have 2 10inchs of these in my car wired to 1 ohm using 2,000, rms watts, meaning 1k to each sub. They have not burned out me running them hard for 3 years now... time for an upgrade though as i know i've been cooking the voice coil. These hit low, Just ordered 2 of these 15inch ddx for my theater... will know thursday how they sound. Fyi, i use to have the 10inch kicker solo X, they were had similar specs as these and they were over rated rms watts when they came out..... Kicker had to eventually de-rate a lot of their over PRICED speakers.
I’ve had two for about 3 months and getting ready to do 4 ddx-12s with an 8” aero port...unfortunately the two I have seem to be dying on me...all of a sudden they’re not as loud as normal and one of the gaskets is starting to leak
I have to check my wiring. I think im at 1ohm. Got it on the rp1500.1. But for some reason on all my old hip hop ot doesnt hit at all. Only on the new trap stuff. I have to check and make sure i got it wired in the box right. My old eclipse titanium caught that bass. But seems like my ddx 12 is struggling or something. I have the skar box they recommend. Like wtf.
I do not know if in the sud ddx and among other skar they do not remain in the measure for example that 10 buy a box the same the same measure did not remain and if it wore it out it broke

Just curious why you always test these subs at 2 ohm. All of them have dual 2 ohm versions, but you get the dual 4 ohms for testing. Your amps are all stable at 1 ohm, so why not use all the power from the amp?
I just bought 2 of these and will run them off a ct sounds 1500, do you believe it's better to run the amp stonger then the subs or subs stroner then the amp output?

Get you a 8k amp something proper that you can still fit so that power is never the concern and a 35hz enclosure which is the typical musical styled setup so that each sub sounds fine

Peak power doesn't matter it's the rms that matters on any sub amp max power it to make you think it can give you that power and it can't rms is what matters people and the skar ddx is a good sub I know a person running four of them on the skar 4500 and his truck pounds good sub

I have the DDX 15 and I'm pushing a little over 1300 Watts and it's rated a thousand watt RMS 1500 watt Peak and it never gets hot I can run it for over 15 minute drive a little over halfway up and never get hot or warm so I know they can get more power at least 1,400

I run my 12inch DDX on 1200w rms everyday. It’s never even gotten smelly, I feel like you should try to feed it some more power cause it seems to only go up to 800-900ish watts on the meter

I think Skar underrates their subs, I have a IX-10d2 (rated for 200 rms) it was pushing 305 rms from a Kicker cx300.1 for 6 months, then I got a Rockville RXA-T1 pushing 670 rms, with OFC 4ga (from 2 batteries) to OFC 8ga (sub/box), been running that for a year now no issues.
Most definitely running a ddx 10 at about 1200w rms for about 7 months

I put was recently given the D2 12” and wired it 4 ohm at 550 on a Skar Rd1500.1 very happy with it. Wired it to 1 0hm and through all the power at it, I didn’t think it sounded as good but def rattled the truck!

Just grabbed a Audio Legion S2512d4 for 60 bucks on their website. It was the last one. They are a ddx clone. Ironically the packaging outside box it arrived in said Skar Audio on it. I assume I can use the ddx recone for my Audio Legion. What a deal. They are selling for 250 in some places. I snagged a Q bomb side port box for it. That should match nicely with my Skv2 1500.1d at 2 ohm. That will give it somewhere around 1000 rms. I have 2 svr 10s in the side port box from skar in my car now, I just want something different for a while. I drive 2 hours a day and need my trunk a good bit at times so big systems are not an option for me anymore so I've been experimenting with these smaller systems. I love my svr 10s, they get low af ironically. I never heard 10s go so low. I hope I like the single Audio Legion S2512 in the q bomb. We will see soon. I couldnt pass up that deal.

I have one of these but its the 2ohm version. I've had it wired down to 1ohm with a Hiphonics 2400w Zeus amp. I've also had it wired up to 4ohms with same amp. BOTH 1ohm and 4ohm bump like crazy but at 1ohm its using roughly 2400 watts. Im about to wire at 2 ohms which is stock for this sub.
Anyways, it hits so hard with no complaints other than how Skar basically ignored me because the mounting holes are too far in towards center and have damaged the rubber ring on the speaker as wel as the Skar speaker box mounting area. The screws rip through the partical board because they're too far in. Im literally out of area to screw into and Skar won't do anything because I can't find my receipt. I mean I get it but still I paid good money for both the sub and box(before everything went on sale) and Skar won't even offer a discount for a new box or at least a new mounting ring so I can screw the sub into the box properly. You can totally see the holes in the metal part of the sub don't match with the rubber ring. I sent pics and everything. I love Skar products but God forbid a costumer lose their receipt then you're s*it out of luck.

Hey Parker what is the break-in like on the DDX? Did u notice a big difference in sound from when u installed it, compared to later down the road after it had been played for a while? I have 2 ZVX & i noticed such a difference in sound after it was broke in!! I was able to turn the amp up along with the volume & now the subs straight pound!!!! I have owned subs made by, MTX, Fosgate, kicker, & others never have i heard such a difference in sound after they were broke in!

Yes the sundown was wired to 1 ohm. But I had to keep my Bass knob turned down a little or it would max out
Parker Dacchille another difference of the subs, skar claims the ddx should be in a 2.5 cube box, while sundown recommends 1.75-2 cubes. Honestly i think a SA recone would drop right into the ddx

@@ParkerTheBasshead Orion Hcca 5k is $899 on Amazon, and I bet it puts out over 7k-8k real world watts. Not too shabby. I have the 2500.1dz currently, and it's treated me very well. I know BigDWiz did the Orion Hcca 3k video, and that amp was amazing, pushing something like 5k watts.

I had a pair of subs of the ddx 15s but for some reason the kicker cvx 15s sounded deeper and better. Am still figuring out on which subs i should stay with either the kicker cvx 15s or skar ddx 15s any toughs?
I haven’t had kicker CVXs in a long time so I can’t really say but if you liked the way they sound better might as well stick with them

are you gonna use welding cable for the sequoia? i bought 0awg welding cable from ebay, 50ft cost only $130.00, i bought it early this year.
id suggest the xtr2500.1dz for the next amp since it puts out over 1000w @ 4ohms and its a korean board. lastly i suggest running supercaps that emf is selling for dirt cheap instead of multiple agms. the agm in the jeep and a bank of the supercaps is sufficient enough for a 2-3k rms after rise
American Bass has OFC 0 gauge wire that after their 30% discount is 100 for 50ft so probably going to go with that

i’m not parker but the best advice i could give you is save some money and get the SVR-12s 127$ a piece and does 800 rms. your’re going from 1200 watts rms too 1600 watts of rms.

Evl is a better sub and has a 3 inch coil this sub only has a 2.5 inch coil, yet this sub is 40 dollar's cheaper.

@@johnjacob9976 how do you like it, I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the evl, yet with the pair of ddx's I save 80 bucks, I'm on the fence, I like the fact that the evl has a 3 inch coil and can handle a little more watts, yet saving 80 bucks on a pair of subs that preform almost as well that I can use the money on a better amp sounds great as well.

Ddx sounds better but has less x maxx than evl. Ddx has higher sensitivity ie takes less power to get down

Get a half ohm Taramps MD12k. You will be able to use in with many different impedance combinations, whether 4 ohm, 2 ohm, 1 ohm, or even a half ohm. You should be able to power any sub with this amp, or even dual sub setup. You wouldn't need to buy another amp for a while, unless you decided to do a huge SPL build with 4 or more subs. You could get by with a single high output alt, and plenty of capacitance. Lithium is always a great choice for a new build, and LTO technology is getting less expensive than even AGM, plus its better. It's a lil money overall, but a little here and a little there is definitely worth it. I bought a second alt, and working on my third lithium bank. I bought a JS 390 to go with my CES 320. Thinking of putting my original alt back on the truck to run the truck's electrical, and fabricating a bracket to hold both of the high output alts to power the system. You have a sizable vehicle to fit a larger enclosure. Make sure you will be able to upgrade with the equipment that you buy, that way you won't get stuck with a lot of equipment that you won't be using. That's a waste of resources. Just plan on going big and buy for the end goal. Great videos. Keep it up!

Yep that's what I've ALWAYS looked for most ppl don't factor in the box rise and your equipment will run cooler at 2and 4 ohm 1ohm tends to run hot ecspecially if your wife gauges aren't correct and of high quality👍🏾

skar for sure., I use to be a kicker fan. Skar hits good really low. I have 2 10inchs of these in my car wired to 1 ohm using 2,000, rms watts, meaning 1k to each sub.
They have not burned out me running them hard for 3 years now... time for an upgrade though as i know i've been cooking the voice coil. These hit low,

Fyi, i use to have the 10inch kicker solo X, they were had similar specs as these and they were over rated rms watts when they came out..... Kicker had to eventually de-rate a lot of their over PRICED speakers.
I’ve had two for about 3 months and getting ready to do 4 ddx-12s with an 8” aero port...unfortunately the two I have seem to be dying on me...all of a sudden they’re not as loud as normal and one of the gaskets is starting to leak

I have to check and make sure i got it wired in the box right. My old eclipse titanium caught that bass. But seems like my ddx 12 is struggling or something. I have the skar box they recommend. I do not know if in the sud ddx and among other skar they do not remain in the measure for example that 10 buy a box the same the same measure did not remain and if it wore it out it broke

Surely you misunderstood what you were saying when you said RMS was irrelevant when in actuality it's the only thing you can count on.
Just curious why you always test these subs at 2 ohm. All of them have dual 2 ohm versions, but you get the dual 4 ohms for testing. Your amps are all stable at 1 ohm, so why not use all the power from the amp?
