I truly could only describe Alicia Silverstone’s performance in this as if she was channeling Toni Collette in Hereditary but in the middle of the ocean. It was truly BIZARRE but I almost appreciate her commitment to it. I loved the amount of times she would just fall asleep because they didn’t have the budget to connect their scenes together.

Actually when I was rewatching this, it reminded me of a book I read last year for an internship I had (I had to digitize physical books for a children’s book publishing company) but the book was on people who were lost at sea but found their way to land after weeks (which left me traumatized because it made me realize how unresourceful I am) but you are right that they had a really good situation. Her inner saboteur maybe her trauma from the stillbirth, but her husband is more of outer saboteur than the shark. Makes sense why the shark is featured less. And also dolphins are great to have around because sharks are usually singular (except bull sharks) and dolphins swim in pods and can turn easily in water unlike most sharks (I also had to read and digitize a book on shark attacks, which I forgot about lol because I read a lovely story about a surfer who was saved by a pod of dolphins against a great white and they swam around him and brought him back to shore)

So like, a crazy billionaire has built a giant glass mansion underwater in a lake, and the lake is filled with sharks, and he goes on crazy speeches about how they're majestic and beautiful creatures and he swims with them every day. But then an evil gang come to rob the house but they accidentally shoot the glass and now the house is filling up with water, and sharks! Maybe the protagonists are a documentary crew from Vice or something who are there to interview the billionaire idk I just wanna see Die Hard with sharks
That's a little bit like Deep Blue Sea (at least the underwater base filling up with sharks bit, although the sharks themselves are Hans Gruber in that scenario!)

The shark is Van Helsing that is why it was after her so much. Shark got bit by a vampire squid and it is on the path of revenge or something. Also this movie would have been a lot better if they leaned into the camp and just had Alicia Silverstone and Samara Weaving fighting the Van Helsing shark

So I thought Alicia Silverstone was a somewhat reputable actress but unless she was forced to do this movie at gun point that clearly is not the case. This has to be one of the worse movies I’ve ever seen. Everything about it is terrible. I honestly can’t think of one redeeming quality except that it might make a fun drinking game if I was to ever torture myself with a rewatch Literally every scene ended with the characters falling asleep, it was like they took too many sleeping pills and hallucinated everything. The actors get gravely injured in multiple scenes only to walk it off 30 seconds later, this happens at least 5 times to the husband alone Of course 3/4 “critics” on rotten tomatoes gave it a good rating like 7/10.
