My last email from HR: "we are not 100% sure why you want to join the company"
Making money doesn't make any sense right????
These days its very popular to work for emotional reasons. Everyone wants to have a "meaningful" job. And employers have drunk that coolaide way too hard. So these days employers want their employees for whom flipping burgers is a calling.
There are also various studies that prove employees who feel their work is meaningful are willing to accept an 18% lower salary on average, so thats definitely a heavy factor in the current climate.
Personally, i don't give a shit whether my job means something. Pay me well, and i'll devote my soul to the company. Unfortunately, very few industries want that kind of employee these days. Sales/marketing is one of the few that loves greedy employees though.
@@Erowens98 so basically Brave New World mindset in the making
Birki gts Many people nowadays live in a fantasy world of sorts as far as getting a job goes. We have all heard the following before:
“You can be anything you want!”
“Your career should be something you love!”
“Work hard enough, and all your dreams will come true!”
As cynical as it may seem, life is not so idyllic; for example, you most likely won’t be able to make a full living doing art of any sort; banking on that is a gamble at best, as the market is and always will be flooded with hundreds of other artists just as good as you, if not better. On the other hand, there are many career fields which are always looking for new workers, many of which require no college degree at all (some official certification is often required, but this is almost never more than a tenth of the cost of a bachelors degree). They’re not always the most aesthetic jobs, but they tend to pay pretty nicely, which is much better than scrambling to make ends meet because “guitar is your calling” or some crap like that.
TL:DR Passion is nice, but only opportunity will pay your bills.
If you can’t explain why you want more than just money, probably the only job you will get is in sales. It also suggests you are stupid if you can’t do 2 seconds of preparation to say something like “I think I’m a good fit for this role and I like the work.” You wouldn’t tell a girlfriend you were just with her for sex would you?
So people are just expected to lie? That's stupid. Most people work necause they have to. Not everyone gets to be what they want to be.
This video sums up life. It's really fucking sad
ikr? And even if you aren't smart and have to resort to more physically demanding jobs, there's no banking on it giving you enough income to live off of. God, I wish I lived in the 50s - 70s
Life must have been simpler back then.
Yeah cuz ppl actually had a work ethic back then jk
There were a few billion less people on this planet 50 years ago, so jobs were given out like candy and shit was cheap. Today, supply of human bodies outweighs demand and everything's expensive. We're disposable, there is zero incentive for an employer to give 2 shits about employees because there are hundreds of applicants trying to get your job.
Things are more expensive now because of inflation.
You forgot the part at the end where you join the army.
Wait I think you're canadian

You have nothing better to do than insult other peoples comment, then complain when people comment on yours?
Lol "entry level position" always makes me chuckle. I also enjoy providing a detailed CV and then being asked to fill the exact same information into a crudely drawn spreadsheet of boxes.
As a friend of mine put it "'Entry Level' is just a cleaned up way of saying 'We're going to lie to you and tell you you have a chance at getting to our pay level while we repeatedly enter you against your will via your paycheck, your schedule, your sense of self worth and your will to live'"
They put entry level so that they won't have to pay you as much not because it's actually entry level work
the most unrealistic part of his was that he was actually able to get an interview
Yeah. Most interviews are from telephones, but good fucking luck I guess.
And this is why I have a bachelors in biology yet I work in a kitchen.
that remind me of his "how college is like" video. He brings up the question of how do you know what kinda job you would enjoy without ever having that job. To answer this he put up a slider with fun on one side and making a lot of money on the other side and said to adjust accordingly.

>Pretend to have more experience and knowledge than I actually have
Hmm, yes. The floor here is made of floor.
How do you fake that stuff? I'm being serious. I'm a teenager so I don't know anything about resumes.
James Bramnick faking isn’t always the best course of action. What you SHOULD do is really think about your skills and sell them for example, you know how to work a computer? “Proficient in multiple computer programs” if you don’t have job experience then you take from other things you’ve done. Volunteering or interning looks amazing and will give you experience. Most jobs suck, but if you’re trying to get your foot in the door the best thing to do is get in to a company and work your way up. Easiest way to get a job is to put in your application online, wait a day or two then walk into the business and ask to speak to the hiring manager. Once you’ve got the hiring manager in front of you, say you want to check on the status of your application and go from there. More times than not they will schedule a time for you to come in for an interview. Trust me, i was a hiring manager for 3+ years. Good luck on the job hunt!
James Bramnick lastly to answer your question about resumes, go online and google “resume template” choose one that emphasizes your skills rather than work experience. If you have a specific place you want to work like say a call center look up the job requirements and list your skills pertaining to the job, “excellent conversational skills” “basic computer skills” “problem solving” “deescalating angry customers” “positive attitude” these are all universally good skills that employers want to see in a employee

@@red2theelectricboogaloo961 Some people have parents which mean they never work in their life, worlds unfair. Just because it sucks doesn't mean you roll over and whine that it's not happening.
But you can make those connections, but rarely force them. Just be opportunistic, let people know you are looking for work/experience.
Get even a slight reference from a mate for helping their work. Don't lie, but embellish a little. But the reality is that only gets you to the talking phase, the rest is all self-work and confidence. My tip is experience hopping, get whatever you can at first, even if its a terrible job, cash in hand. It just shows you are able to work, which is suprisingly not as often for people as you would think. Also have the basics, drivers licence, resume, linked in if you are looking at the business world. Clean social media, and an explanation of what you've done, why you are doing what you are doing, and what you want. Have talkable hobbies and interests, and most importantly, a modicum of intelligence and confidence, even if its faked.
All in all, just look put together and approachable, gets you far. And also, look for jobs in odd places, I'm sure your local community would have a job seeking facebook page. Every seek ad probably gets 100's of cookie cutter responses, call/contact directly when possible. Show them you have some balls, and go in like you know you have the job already.
Yep, I had a little brother who tried to apply for a Target and they told him he needed experience. My dad was baffled and asked, "Experience? To do what? Stack boxes and count money? Get your heads out of asses!"

There is no middle class anymore and that's because the .00000001% have been waging war against them for the past 40 plus years. Don't believe me, watch "Money as Debt" along with "The Creature From Jekyll Island."
+Average Joesson starving
.
That last line of "Rome used salt like money" completely makes your credibility worthless.
I disagree. The fact that Rome used salt as a form of currency or money proves the point that it is only a means of exchange. Why do you think crypto currencies like Bitcoin, litecoin, dogcoin, public banking are starting to pop up?! Humanity needs to redefine what true money really is. Check out "Money vs. Currency" by Mike Maloney and his hidden secrets of money website. It will teach you the federal reserve system along with central banking. THAT is the cause of all of our economic problems: Central banks and central banking along with fractional reserve banking. People don't understand how banking works.
This is exactly why my life is horrible
I thought it was because you can't find your spoon.
Lemming and that too
+iCantFindMySpoon no only that
You do have community college, ROTC the GI bill, student loans and scholarships available. On top of this you could intern to get experience.
What? This isn't 1946, Jack.
Employee:Hello, Welcome to McTrumps. What would you like to order?
Me: A small loan of a million dollars
Im going to tell you something that’ll help you stand out significantly more than the other candidates: know someone you know at the company, even just as friendly acquaintances. As long as you have the minimal skills that you can market well on your resume and to the employer, you have a good chance of getting in with a good word from that same acquaintance.
Not sure that helps selling steak knives though
turtlemaster 5000 My advice is for ppl who are getting into real jobs, not pyramid schemes where anyone who can breathe can get in.
10,000 a year? what decade do you live in?
Wyoming. I live in the decade wyoming, and it costs about 10,000 a year.
What, is it even MORE expensive now?
PaulMag average is 15,000 a year.
Yingdi Han Christ!
Wauw. And here WE get paid for going to a higher education in EU.
Fuck USA xD
It's funny how earlier generations had it easier both in terms of findings a job and dating. Today, it is the total opposite. Finding a job and life partner is a constant struggle. Not mentioning inflation problems, property prices, increasing ideological divide, etc.
I heard that in the magical land of Europe, they have this thing called "free college education" or something like that
Free college won't work in America. Sorry.
LethalFacepalm It's a myth
Europe is a continent, not a country, and in most European nations it's called university.
LethalFacepalm it's not free when other people have to pay for it
Eskimo227 When everyone pays it
That’s actually my life in a nutshell

I don't think they understand what the 'Read More' button does... SPOILER ALERT: IT SHOWS MORE TEXT!

Some times the Read More button just doesn't appear because UA-cam is shit and has no competitors.

Disturbingly accurate.
these drawings make it so much better
This is so ridiculously true. I recall at age 16 was the first time I was permitted to legally work, so enthusiastically I went to apply with local stores and business for a job over the summer. I'd get stuff like "So do you have any previous experience?" (Despite me having made it clear I'm 16 and it was the first time I could work). Or a "Just hand us your CV and we'll get back with you" (Which naturally they never did). Tried again the year after, got the same shit of "you need experience first" because working as a cashier or handling products or cleaning in a store apparently needs soooo much experience. Kept getting the same pointless answers, so eventually I just gave up and never worked a job as a student.
Welp, this certainly wasn't the story of my life or anything.
"eliminate hydraulic press" well done sir
Sorry, you need 5 years experience to say that.
I just got a Tai Lopez here in My back yard ad.
I got tai lopez here in my private jet.
Looks like the most cramped thing ever.
Is that guy for real? those commercials are so ridiculous...
See H3H3productions, Jacob. Made a good video on it
+Jacob Shirley he's a real investor and mentor
so what? if we all take this guy seriously, maybe one day we will be also successful like him...
I’ve been dealing with this lately, but for INTERNSHIPS, not even full-time positions. I don’t have enough “leadership and analytical” experience. Which I’m sure every 20 year old has in spades. Good luck out there y’all! God bless
That's ridiculous. Maybe apply to more big name companies because sometimes they randomly take you even if you're not qualified, the internship makes you qualified while you get paid, and you can hopefully get a return offer.
You're subtle humor is so spot on dude. Had me rolling "Min-Wage Club: Fantasy Role Play; Tonight's Theme: Paying Rent" fucking classic bro.
@Saul Goodman the only rolling you take part in is when you're rolling over so Walter White can show you who your daddy is.
theres a lot more to it than that you ought to do one on once you have the job and still cant afford a roof or food

I'm starting to get nervous about finding a job just looking at the comments...
At first it's scary, like a watchdog on your way, but everything is under control, the dog is not aggressive and he might be your friend
It's the rat race and if you read some of these comments, people will ensure the competition is unfair, egotistical, and fierce.
@@rightblank10 Because competition is unfair, egotistical, and fierce.
"Hello, I would like a job please." Something about the way he says it makes me feel so bad but laugh.
We've all been there. It's the awkward first time trying to find a job and knowing nothing at all about how to go about it
Wth? This video came into my recommendation just as i am 3 months into looking for work after i got my professional license and degree, this is 100 percent accurate
I had an argument about college tuition and the other guy legit said if you can't pay for college then go to a trade school. So if you ever wanted to become a doctor (which already takes a good chunk of your life and potentially your life savings) you first have to become a mechanic and work who knows how long to pay for it. Great system we have here folks.
Or just take out student loans...this is why student loans exist.
6 years later and this video is still bang on the money about how much of a self-defeating shitshow the job market is.

Why is this place on a hill?
The thin air helps dull the feeling of worry and self-doubt surrounding your future.
Really?
No

you need to spend money to make money. but then you need to make money to spend money to make money. life gives me a headache
+Aefracious I hate this game, too much pay to win.
and when I rant about the system people always give me that "that's the way it is bullshit " Nibiru please take me
"this job requires 5 years of experience"
"but it says entry level"
aint that the fuckin truth though
Entry for novice workers that only worked for 5 years.
Medium level for average people to worked at least for 20 years.
Senior level for good people who wasted 40 years on a factory and got health issuies in the proccess.
What, you don't work that hard? Well fuck you and give me bills money honey, thats how they love us.
I think it would be wise to file a complaint with the guy in charge of this shit. He is waisting yours and the companies time...and thus their money.
@Pingu0 nigga lay off the meth
So fucking true
i bet 20 years later, you probably need a scholar degree (cost 20,000+) just to get a part time job.
Human society is sick as shit.

Josh Derak That's obviously what someone who is YSAC would say. Reverse psychology. The perfect coverup.
This is hilarious. Someone with a similar voice should start another channel about auto repair and then reference and then deny any affiliation with the cooking and comic show.
I loved that fact that the college name was "Seriously explained university"
quite opposite to casually explained 😂😂
