Sounds like she was just picky, but that wouldn't necessarily be the case. I used to do something like this when I was a teen, though I was pretty waste conscious, and was a bit disappointed in myself at the time for being so picky and wasteful. It took over fifteen years and a lot of therapy until I put one (being picked on for my packed lunches) and one (super controlling parents) together only recently and realised it was actually a lot deeper than that, and to shed my shame about it. Genuinely just assumed at the time that I didn't like cheese sandwiches. :P

I had a date before who kept pestering me to tell me about my past. I was dumb, i was young and i made mistakes. Im not proud of it but i learned from it. It feels unfair to tell something the other person will hold you into and use it to their advantage. Whats important is of who i am right now. My past will always be a part of me but it should not overshadow of what im trying to be.
only reason i keep my past to myself now is because ive had smaller things used against me by people i thought i could trust so no chance i could trust anyone with the big stuff, but if someone asks me something and i decide to answer, i wont lie about it

I like dark humor myself so I’m ok with most jokes. (Just not ones that instigate child abuse. I’ve been learning that that topic makes me heated)
However Stereotyped jokes on race gender, sexuality and mental illness such as depression aren’t things I think should not be casually joked about often unless you’re in a group deleting where you know those jokes are ok
And I do believe that people should understand and be apologetic if jokes about heavy topics offends someone because there’s a reason why they’re offensive jokes and just because you like it doesn’t mean everyone has to. After all you do not know what happened in their life.
Jokes like that could remind them of an awful experience or just jokes about their oppression is simply offensive.

Ykno it’s funny, I have been thru my string of relationship/situationships and never found much success. I ran into a lot of disastrous people and problematic things but in a lot of instances I never stopped to reflect and wonder if it was me and my behaviors that was adding some fuel to the fire. Last summer I had fallen for someone who fell for me but it ended by the end of the summer due to a whole slew of things. And it emotionally damaged me for a time, which was partially due to her being a toxic person overall, but I never accounted for my smoking habits or my overly emotional investment or how sad I would get when drinking alcohol. After going thru my bit of bad depression I sobered up and met someone else by chance and now we’ve been dating in quite a healthy relationship. Pretty cool when shit goes that way yknow?

Being secretive about your past isn't a bad thing, especially early on in a friendship/other social relationship. People have traumas, regrets, etc. that they don't like talking about too much. That's perfectly understandable.
Maybe early on. But at the same time I wouldn't be too keen on trusting someone who insists on being secretive. I mean even if you don't want to actually tell someone a particular thing about your past, at least be semi-open and tell them 'That brings up a lot of trauma and/or regret so I'm not comfortable sharing that with you just yet.' That way it doesn't make it seem like you're being unnecessarily secretive, plus it shows that you're not afraid of communicating.
