MGM forever.... I miss the old great movie ride and backlot tour... I remember the first time I went to this park, they had a ton of who framed Roger rabbit stuff out... The movie had just came out... I like how there still MGM stuff around if you look hard enough..... Great photos...look forward to future streets of America video..(with Adam ..I think...) What was with the voice at the end ... I guess a old VHS sound bite... Thanks for sharing... Take care... Have a great day... thanks...👍👍👍
I was there opening day. I really miss the Backlot Tour & The Great Movie Ride. As an 80s kid, It was so awesome to have Star Wars & Muppets in a theme park. Sci-Fi Dine-In and 50s Prime Time are my two favorite Disney World restaurants. Long Live MGM Studios. Great Video 🙌
Loved the singing in the rain umbrella that you could pull the chain and have the water rain down so many awesome things I miss from MGM like Osbourne lights and back lot tour.
Awesome video, I clicked on this right away! My first visit MGM guide map said “opening soon” for Star Tours and the attraction looked like that picture with the wall up. So cool! Shoutout to RetroWDW! Love their channel and podcast. That channel inspired me to have my storage bin of camcorder tapes transferred to digital and to start a Disney history channel (from the early 2000s). I was also really bored during quarantine.
4:08 Those are actually original classic movie posters. That was such a great gift shop. So many things to look at, movie props and signatures. But those posters were pretty special because it was something affordable that even a child could purchase. It was still a gift shop when we went in 2005. Not sure when it became a photo place, just that it was a disappointing discovery.
I remember going to Hollywood studios which used to be called MGM studios back then in 2001 and the show that really caught my attention is the game show of who wants to be a millionaire
Even though it wasn’t an opening day attraction, I really miss the Osborne Spectacle of Lights the most. The pic of the Streets of America kinda brought me there again.
OMG the aerial shot making the hidden Mickey!!!!! I've been a Disney nerd since 1987 and NEVER knew that!! lol! That's awesome. This was very neat, interesting to see the changes. Thanks Micah! :)
They should of made a 5th park : Star Wars ( Galaxy edge ) Also Toy Story Land rides & Pixar rides “ Call it Pixar Place “ 😊😊😊 - Just left the Streets of America at Disney MGM studios ( Hollywood studios)
What a great video. I went to MGM Studios in 1989 and although I was young at the time I can remember R2D2 and C3P0 outside of the Star Tours ride which had not yet opened. I honestly cannot remember if they were just wall art, cut out figure standees or something similar but it is the one thing I can remember, along with Roger Rabbit. Thanks Micah!
Very awesome Micha!!! You always come up with some of the best blogs that are always so interesting with the history and what nots of time.. Looking forward to seeing what’s next !!
Ha man that’s crazy I just subscribed . I went to Disney once once 1989 and got the weird urge to Google it today in a rare attempt to see unseen footage of my dad who’s no longer here . 1989 musta been a good year 😆 peace !!!
After watching yours, I came across "A Life in the Parks" channel that had 2004 MGM Tram tour footage. Lower res, but really gives you a feel for the "fake" and real studios aspects in the now "olden days".
Love videos like this! I've spent time at this park probably starting in the mid 90's and all the way up until a few years ago pre-COVID. I totally recall the fake city backdrop back in the 90's. I had no clue that Sunset Blvd was not part of the original park on opening day! Also had no clue that there was a giant Mickey head in the middle of the park! I will miss the Great Movie Ride, always loved that ride.
Thanks for another great video and I hope you are doing well. By the way, this is the only channel I’m focusing on now. It’s Rocky Matt Dragen. Have a great day.
Love these videos matching up the old photos. Reminds me (being in the Studios) does anybody know where I can download a copy of the Hollywood Brown Derby's menu from November 2000 (if it exists anywhere)?
Great old photos
So cool
I remember all those buildings and the layout. Brought back a flood of memories.
MGM will always be my childhood park
I love old pics compared to present times, no matter the subject... so COOL, 32 years later 👏☀️ Yes, "Streets of America" really has changed!
I just found pics of 1988 when I went to epcot. Space theme it was super exciting seeing all the old memories

I MISS IT WHEN IT WAS CALLED MGM. GREAT PHOTOS MY FRIEND
17:49 was also a pretty cool gift shop. I believe it’s a restaurant now.

I remember the Sorcerer's Hat when I attended Star Wars Weekends a couple of years back. Great video!

Loved this vlog.
So much is gone and the new, in my opinion, is not as good.😔😪

Finally able to let you know Troubadour Tavern was a Welch's Juice stand
Great work as always. Love the history of the parks!

Ok now I’m curious as to what was on it lol 😂 😋
So much as change through 32 years! Great old photos and I love it! ☺️ Where did you get that? 🤔
Someone took these on their vacation and let me use them!
@@worldofmicah interesting
Yeah Star Wars never existed in Hollywood studios during opening day in 1989 but now as it’s now Hollywood studios there’s a Star Wars
You can't imagine how disappointed I was when your packet of smiles didn't contain the lips of walgreen's victims. False advertising imo.
