  • Since it first opened in 1971, Walt Disney World has imagined itself as “The Most Magical Place on Earth”-and for many people, it is. However, this is an image it has carefully cultivated through strictly-controlled practices and secretive policies.

    Interesting fact. Walt chose the location of WDW after flying over it in his private plane scouting for just the right spot. After doing so the plane headed back west and while refueling Walt found out President Kennedy had been assasinated. Yep both events happened the same day.

      Which was also the day that Gilligan's Island was filming the pilot, including the beginning sequence at the marina. If you pay close attention, you can even see the flags at half staff as a result.

      if you watch the start of gilligan's island- look for the flags in the background, they are at 1/2 staff because as it was filmed word came of the president's death and they were lowered.

    When I worked down there in 2005, I got told by quite a few cast members that when dealing with an overly obnoxious or infuriating guest, to give your biggest,brightest, cheeriest smile and in your best "Disney voice" tell the guest to, "Have a DISNEY day!" It was basically how to tell a guest to go f**k themselves without actually saying it. To this day I'll still occasionally do that when I get annoyed with people.

    A few comments regarding your content:
    • The tunnels beneath the surface level of Walt Disney World are officially called Utility Corridors, or "Utilidors" for short.
    • Winnie the Pooh is English, and therefore ineligible to be President of the United States.
    • River Country closed over eleven years after the incident with the dead kid. Declining attendance due to that death was NOT the reason it was closed. Disney frequently shuts down under performing attractions, and Disney's Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon were vastly more popular, which led to River Country's demise.
    • I never heard about that small plane that crashed into Epcot's parking lot, but I do know that Walt Disney World is a "no fly zone," meaning the FAA doesn't allow any aircraft to pass overhead except in cases of emergency. So it was unlikely that the passengers of that plane were flying over to take in the view of WDW. If they did, they were breaking the law.
    • Discovery Island was shut down and its residents transferred to Animal Kingdom when it opened. This was a planned event, and Discovery Island wasn't shut down for lack of attendance.

    • @floridawoman

      😮River Country closed to other guests, and let the campers at Fort Wilderness use it. I was one of them with my family of 8. It did close on Nov 2, 2001, but wasn't supposed to stay closed. However, due to the other water parks being more patronized, 9/11, and a FL law regarding the type of water that needed to be used, specifically chlorinated water. There was also concern about how the critters that would go in and get sick. Alligators enjoyed it too. We thought it was OK, but definitely not Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. It permanently closed on Jan 20, 2005.

    This is predominantly the history of the park. At 18:26 they tell you that "H" is a poop code. Please don't start "running as far away as possible" because it's crowded ... and it's mob mentality and if you start running as far away as possible, others will too, having no idea that it's just poop that you're running from.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade 18 днів тому +12

      Also, keep in mind that the reason for code words is to keep people from panicking. If there's anything that legitimately warrants running, it won't be expressed via codewords. It will be something more along the lines of "run for your life, the dinosaurs have broken out of their enclosures and have developed a taste for human flesh" sort of thing. Or, maybe that's more of a Universal parks problem.

      good question!! its partially two things - 1, because it can be considered a biohazard depending on how the body is cremated. not good to have a potential biohazard in enclosed places that cycle through 10,000+ people per hour. 2, they just dont want you to do it, and i cant blame them. honestly, i would absolutely care if your grandpa's ashes were floating through the air as you dumped them. im sure that whoevers ashes it is was probably a cool person, but much like dust, ashes are airborne before settling, and no one wants to breathe in grandpa. also, it could probably do a number on attractions, waterways where animals live, public areas, displays, etc., and would cause a much higher amount of work for the facilities and cleaning staff who would be responsible for removing the ashes, and then grandpa would just end up in a landfill. and you would probably end up banned from the parks for life. so its better for everyone involved to not be dumping ashes in the park.

    • @DiznyGrandma
      @DiznyGrandma 16 днів тому +6

      As someone who have had 2 brothers cremated, and their remains scattered in the Pacific Ocean, I can tell you that the remains are referred to as ashes, but they are not like ashes from a burning log in a fireplace, and definitely not like ashes from paper. There are bone particles in the cremated remains. The texture is more like a grainy sand. Most average approx, 10-15 lbs., depending on how large the person was at the time of death. Disneyland, as well as cemeteries, ban scattering of the ashes. The cemeteries will let you bury a box of the remains, but does not allow scattering. Disney Theme Parks, as well as other tourist places, ban scattering because of the mud it causes, and then if it gets intovthe water, which they recycle, it causes issues and damage. I'm sure any possible bio hazard is also a concern. Can you imagine how many people would want to do this? Can you imagine the mess, damage, breakdowns it can cause? It does unfortunately happen, and the rides closes until it can get cleaned up. So just know that your loved one is fine, and maybe once in awhile, roam the park...maybe even with Walt himself!

    Communities & neighborhoods w/HOA that must follow strict guidelines are not much different than what the original EPCOT would've been. Residents also don't or can't vote in most communities. They have to abide by rules & regulations -- especially if you're a renter, not a home-owner. Even so, many neighborhoods are quite strict, even if you're an owner.
    You also wouldn't have lived at EPCOT permanently, only as long as you worked as a cast-member or Walt Disney World employee.

    Point of order, Mate. Vehicles that are used to pump out human waste from any number of different sorts of collection tanks have been known as Honey Trucks for ages. I would posit to you that Walt, having grown up at a time and place where central sewer systems were rare at best, would have been more aware of this and is the real basis for the H designation than this tenuous H = Honey = Pooh = someone carped in public you describe.

    I thought there wasn't a workers Union at least according to the actors or cast members.

      Some of them are unionized. The actors who participate in the stage musicals there belong to a union.

    Excellent video! But why did you wait until the very end to tell us what Code H meant? 😮 It literally had nothing to do with the rest of the video. 🤷 Could you please not do that in the future and just get to the point? Thanks! 👍🏻

    When I was at Disney World and went to Epcot the only thing that really impressed me was The Guardians of the Galaxy ride. The park was lovely and the staff was very nice but being from Queens, NY it just reminded me of home 🤷🏻‍♀️😉 I felt as if I was walking around the lake at Flushing Meadows park. My family & I cracked up at how excited people were at the “international” food stands & souvenir shops. We kept joking that we could get better food in the different ethnic neighborhoods in Queens!! That’s all Epcot was to me - Queens, NY with super cool rollercoaster 😂😂😂

    Talk about a man who was a communist and probably loved Hitler I mean based on what you just said it sounds exactly what he was trying to create a totalitarian regime not unlike Hitler basically it was going to be copying Russia but at the time the Communist party was just getting started in a way and I say in a way because it wasn't very well known anywhere else and he's basically imitating them I mean you have to ask yourself the following question this is a man who made movies that basically lambasted Hitler and yet he was planning to be the next one.

      Pick one or the other. Hitler was most definitely not a communist. In fact Nazi Germany and the (Communist) Soviet Union were mortal enemies.
      However, both were totalitarian regimes, so from the POV of 80 years later I can see how it could be confusing. 🫤
