To see your Albanian friend in a Rocky Mountain National Park - Colorado sweatshirt made my day as I lived most of my adult life nearby Estes Park, Colorado which reminds me of PUKË. The tree planting story was very inspiring indeed. Well done PUKË! What a majestic world in which we live so, thank you for your beautiful, inspiring and educational videos! I travel extensively in my mini camper van here in the US and hope to someday soon Explore Europe including the Balkans and now, most definitely PUKË! 🚐 You’ve now become my favorite travel vlog and I look forward each Sunday morning having coffee on my deck watching your new video! ❤️
Wow thanks so much for the lovely comment! That means a lot to us. Colorado does look beautiful, an area we’d love to visit one day. You should definitely visit the Balkans too, such an intriguing corner of the world. Really glad you’re enjoying our videos, we’ve got a few more from Albania which we’re really excited to put our then some from our travels in Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina ☺️
Im glad this made your day Terry! We would be more than happy to host you and anyone else who wants to visit the Albanian wildlife! Best regards from the Colorado Shirt guy, Gerald.
Another great video you two. Eastern Europe has a lot to thank you for. Very informative and well made films. I hope you get back on the road again soon
Thank you guys so much for doing this trip , i hope your UA-cam keeps growing. Our country is very beautiful and full of warm and welcoming people.🙏❤🇦🇱
Thank you! We love Albania and the whole of the Balkans, we will certainly keep coming back to discover more- the people are some of the friendliest we’ve ever met too! ☺️
@@FromRustToRoadtrip the problem with TV companies is that they have all the control & they'll cut your work up into ribbons. Maybe make a short series and submit it as a done deal, no cutting, and see what they do. 👍
From Rust to Roadtrip It’s 45 minutes to an hour hike from the asphalted road, and vehicles take 15 minutes on the unpaved xhade; hence, not as difficult to get to as villages further up-past the one-lane dirt road. Happy travels 🌈👋
Pukë is like a peaceful dream mountain town one can dream of living. You guys are inspiring and loved the way you have shown beautiful Albania. Pukë is like Zanskar and Ladakh we have in India.
Another fantastic video! We've really enjoyed following your travels that venture off the more beaten track. Definitely giving us ideas to travel further afield. Appreciate the work and love that clearly goes into producing your videos! P.s THANK YOU for editing in natural breaks, grinds my gears when an ad starts mid-sentence, so jarring! :P Rant over, keep up the good work guys!
Thank you both! Really appreciate it ☺️ Ben has been really upping his editing game lately, and we’re always learning new techniques. Hope to see you on the road when the lockdown is finally over!
Oh guys, amazing to see you visting my origin town. Actually, I can tell you that you have lost some of the mostt amazing places in Puka like Koman Lake, Fierza Lake, villages like Kryezi, Lajthiza, Dardhe, etc that offer many amazing nature resources especiially water resources and amazing hotels like Hani Përparim Laçi, Hotel Alpin in Dhardhë, etc. Puka is absolutely one of the most amazing alpine towns in Balkans. So sad I found this channel just now, subscribe added. Huge amounts of respect!
Thank you! And thanks for the recommendations. We have been to Komani Lake but we still have so much to see in Albania, even though we’ve spent a total of four months there it’s still not enough time!
I really like listening to you guys, your videos are very informative. I hope you don’t mind me asking, what drone do you use. Your van is a pure workhorse. Ian.
Thanks so much! We try to make them as interesting as possible and focus on lesser-known areas and topics. We have a DJI Phantom 4 Pro, it’s very good quality although a lot bulkier than the Mavics
Amazing country on many many levels, I'm struck by the outlandish hospitality and warm welcoming personae of everyone (mechaaics?!!?), and the devotion they show to their country for it's beauty and resources. Everything you capture is illuminated by this spirit, I think your documentary will be ground breaking (no pressure). When I get rich I'm going to buy you a farm there so you can build a tourrist center, hey your work inspires big dreams in me too. (But I'm hearing faint wispers of crowd funding and local community investment grants too.....)
Thanks Clive! It really is a country unlike any other. We’ve grown so accustomed in the West to coldness and this sort of “every man for himself” attitude that this kind of welcoming hospitality seems alien to us. I know certainly in Cornwall in the summer we develop a very negative attitude towards people because there are just too many tourists everywhere! So many that it makes it quite unbearable to live here. I hope Albania never gets that way or it will lose its charm and people will lose their warmth and openness to strangers (just look at Croatia). Living in Albania would be a dream! Or perhaps neighbouring Macedonia. We should have enough footage now to put together our documentary- the photo documentaries are already published on our photography website apart from the newest one which we haven’t got around to compiling yet. All good things to come!
So my little brother who is dating Bens sister has just told me about you guys and your channel! Avid traveller myself, done whole of Asia many countries in Europe and a van life is on the cards for me and my girlfriend. Looking forward to following your travels. Im Chris BTW. :)
I give you a like before I watch each video because I know I'll never be disappointed. I'm really pleased to hear that you've both got work because I can't see the local hospitality industry opening up this year in a way that it will be a big employer. Have you checked out the prices of property ( buy or rent)in Albania; or indeed any of the other Balkan countries? It looks like it could be a nice (ie cheap) place to be based if you could make an income online. It might be quite good for retirees like myself too. Time to make my own version of a cheese burek for lunch.... Thanks again for the excellent video
Aaw thanks so much! And that burek sounds tasty! We have indeed been looking at property in the Balkans as we wouldn’t have a hope of ever affording some in the UK. We’re thinking Albania or Macedonia but property in Bulgaria is insanely cheap so that’s quite tempting! It would give us a good base to explore from though, plus much nicer weather 😄
Such a lovely video again ... you've come on so much since your first one :)) And I've watched everyone! ... wonder how much property is in the hills of Albania?
So cool that you’ve been with us from the beginning! We almost cringe a little watching ourselves early on haha. It’s actually more expensive than we imagined it would be. But probably still much more affordable than anything where we’re currently living. We’d love to be able to move to Albania in the future
It's sad to think of what effects this virus will have on tourism in general in the long term. With communities such as this one you've visited here very much in the fledgling stage of developing their own tourism industry and of course closer to home, the fact that our own tourism industry has effectively such down for now, especially affecting areas such Cornwall that rely so heavily on it to support its economy, it is a dark time indeed. At least with people such as yourselfs travelling to these amazing and beautiful places and chronicling your experiences for us all, it will help bring them to peoples attention and hopefully encourage more visitors once this is over. Can't wait for the next video!
Yes you’re totally right, it’s a very unfortunate side effect of this pandemic right now. The Albanians are struggling not just from a lack of tourists coming in but also from the fact they’re unable to travel abroad and work as so many of them do. Cornwall also has been very hard hit as probably over half of people here earn all their money for the year over the summers Eason and it’s not looking like we’re going to have much of one this year. We’re very lucky we’ve managed to find work as we both usually work in hospitality. The good thing about Albania being so late to the tourism game though is that they can establish sustainable tourism businesses unlike many other counties who have gone overboard with it. Thought-provoking stuff
Thank you so much guys for showing the great nature of my country ,I hope those videos will change the stereotype about Albanians across Europe ,next time try to go around coast areas too ,thank you
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video ☺️ We think the stereotype of Albanians is so far from the reality, because everyone we’ve met there has just been so lovely! We’ve been to Albania twice now and the first time we mainly stuck to the coast so this time we wanted to see the inland areas. Our earliest videos on UA-cam feature the coast of Albania if you wanted to check them out ☺️🇦🇱
Whereabouts in Cornwall do you guys live. Myself and my family have been holidaying in Cornwall for 30 years plus, we love it in st ives especially although it has become very busy over the last few years. Look forward to your next video. Respect for making these vlogs.
Oh lovely! We live in the West of Cornwall, it has been getting incredibly busy here in recent years though- too much so to enjoy living here really. Not this year though for obvious reasons, it’s like a ghost town in St. Ives at the moment
Hi guys. Would you actually move to Albania or not really? I go to Romania a lot with my other half and I love the difference in life, the lack of suffocating legislation, the lack of overbearing political correctness and the eastern European way of life in general - especially the food! I'll definitely buy some land there one day but don't know if I could leave England permanently.
Hey 👋 yeah we’d seriously consider it in the future. Although perhaps surprisingly, property prices are fairly high in Albania. Not sure about land prices in more rural areas though. But absolutely agree with you in all the aspects you mention as to why there’s such an appeal to live in the Balkans / East Europe for us. It’ll happen one day. Next time hit Diber , Peshkopi town, nature is beautiful there , some interesting villages , try rich traditional food of area , is not that touristy as it takes 4 h driving from tirana as new motorway is under construction, also is most high mountain ⛰ korab

That’s great to hear! I think a lot of people are suffering cabin fever right now and we all can’t wait to get out and start exploring again- it will feel all the better when we can!
It would be a shame if the mountainous areas of Albanian became too popular and commercialised. As you know yourself living in Cornwall, mass tourism is not necessarily a good thing. It certainly looks beautiful and you certainly deserve a bottle of champagne from the Albanian Tourist board for your efforts in promoting it! I wonder though, if the C19 crisis will see travel-especially by air- severely hit in the future and even van tourers like yourselves, restricted in their movements? I can see a lot of countries not that keen on travellers from outside the country, entering their borders if the threat -even if its diminshed-is still there? I suspect the free travel we've taken for granted will be somewhat reined in in the next couple of years at least.
It would be such a shame! We can’t help thinking that we’re about 5-10 years ahead of Albania here in Cornwall with regards to tourism, and we know what it’s like when a place becomes so crowded you can’t even get to work on time or enjoy your local beach! Hopefully though because they’re newcomers to the industry they’ll be looking more towards sustainable tourism- Croatia is a more recent cautionary tale when it comes to selling your coastline out to tourism unfortunately. Who knows what the face of travel will look like post-coronavirus? We’ve heard that the main thing it’s impacting in Albania isn’t tourists coming in, it’s Albanians who are unable to travel for work now as many of them do. Everyone’s struggling but some more than others
Yeah so we’ve heard! Really nasty little things. We saw some in Portugal and even Cornwall but in Albania the infestation is so widespread I don’t know how they’ll ever recover 😕
