Great Video! i would like to mention, Ross leased CP 1278 for excursions for his High Iron Company, when the excursions became almost too much for 1278, he struck the deal for 759, 759 pulled multiple excursions for HIC, and then starred in the GSCL. And also, on September 12 and 13th 1970, 759 pulled multiple Excursions over Horseshoe Curve. 759 remained in Ross's hands until 1973.
Don't worry. I've got another one on the way! I've just been really bogged down with school work for the past couple of months. Once things clear up a bit, I'll be able to start working on videos again.
This morning I was watching a video with the nickel plate engines, and I was wondering when you would make another one of these, then I came back and saw that you made this
I would absolutely love to see Nickel Plate 170 back in steam. I don't think there are any 4-6-4 Hudsons operational anywhere in North America and I think we could use more engines with elephant ear smoke detectors. And I also have a brass model of an nkp Hudson I'd live to have authentic sounds for but there's only one recording of the sounds of the L1 Hudsons.
I have an audio file of that 1958 recording and I believe there is a clear enough sample of the whistle to program into a decoder but you can't hear the bell, which isn't so bad as it's easier to hear the bell of a non-operating engine than its whistle. The recording is from Fast Freight on the Nickel Plate, an audio recording of trains on the nkp circa 1958. The sound of the Hudson is from NKP 175 recorded from the express freight boxcar at the head end of the train.
I got a forgotten “excursion” steamer, an it’s 2-8-2 #624 Now I know that this engine hasn’t gone into excursion service yet but at least mention it Also ya forgot the time that 765 was dressed up to be C&O 2765 Just thought I should mention that
Berkshires 755 and 763 (along with UP 8444, N&W 611, and ATSF 2925) were all proposed candidates for Ross Rowland's American Freedom Train, however none of this 5 engines were used, though reasons why are probably pretty obvious from the surface level. The biggest being 611 and 8444 were the only operational locomotives, and it would be a lot of money to restore any of the other 3 engines
if Nickel Plate Road No. 587 Was Purchased By the Strasburg Railroad In 1987 She would've been the new 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive for tourist excursions and prr 1223 and prr 7002 would've been scrapped in 1989 and NPK 587 would operate along with Gwr 90 Cn 89 Cn 7312 and N&W 475 on the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania and she was needed an overhaul in 2006 and repairs and return in 2008 and in 2012 she would tripleheaded hauling the photo freight train with gwr 90 and N&W 475 and in 2019 587 and 475 would meet 611 in 2019 2021 2022 until 2023 were 611 would leave the Strasburg Railroad for her final excursion and would arrive in Virginia and as of 2024 NPK 587 gwr 90 Cn 89 N&W 475 but sadly cn 7312 was out of service back in 2009 but 587 90 89 and 475 are now operational on the Strasburg Railroad to pull passenger tourist excursion trains and now NPK 587 is now operational and is now wearing a Baltimore & Ohio Nathan 6 Chime Whistle but back in 2013 she would doublehead with Southern Railway No. 630 On Norfolk Southern 21st century steam program but during the excursion 587 was wearing a prr 3 chime while 630 is wearing a cofg 6 Chime Whistle were is at the tvrm along with Southern Railway 4501 which is restored in 2014 and 587 is the only survivor 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive today on the Strasburg Railroad in 2024.
My only complaint I have besides the wait is that you didn’t mention the movie 587 stared in which was 587 the great train robbery that came out in 2000.
That's the goal right now. Online school has been tough though. I have a lot more classwork than I used to. I'll do my best to find more time to work in videos.
Oh also the 765 pulled the 30th anniversary of Louisville and Nashville excursion which was pulled by Illinois central 2613 since 2613 was scrapped the 765 pulled it
@@Buynot 2716 should get an honorable mention, since while she's a C&O locomotive, she's also an honorary Southern Loco, since when the Southern leased her for their steam excursions they dressed her up to look like a what a Southern berkshire would have looked like, had they purchased one new.
Pere Marquette 1225 and nickel plate road 765 is the most famous locomotive in Berkshire. pere Marquette 1225 became famous because of the movie called the Polar Express. Nickel plate road 765 is famous too because he's the Fastest and strongest engine in the Berkshire. Also pere Marquette 1225 is my oc in the future and I made pere Marquette and nickel plate road became brothers in real life they both built by Lima locomotive works And they used for pulling coaches and trucks called mixed traffic engines because there are capable of pulling coaches and trucks.
The 767 was scrapped after the end of the steam era and never operated in excursion service. You must be thinking of when 765 was temporarily re-numbered to 767 for Steam in the Valley a few years ago.
Don't forget No. 578 was also the star of it's own movie, the 2000 family movie _Old No. 587: The Great Train Robbery_ .
You mean 587
Yeah. But don’t also forget about when she pull Richard Nixon’s Campaign train when he ran for Vice President.
Oh yah I remember seeing that movie
Bravo
And a look back at Strasburg excursion locomotives
Man, I want 759 back
587 is my favorite steam locomotive in the world. It's my hope to ride behind her at least once in my life.
9:55 - 10:04
Now thats a whistle I'd like to hear again!
You're in for a treat mate, its whistle was blown at the 2021 Ravenna Railroad Festival.

@@justahillbilly7777 I heard, it sounds great!
I saw 759 in Scranton when I went to PA. More beautiful in real life than in the pictures and videos.
Also 587s cracked whistle oow
I liked its other whistle better! It’s so majestic!

8:06 - The Chesapeake and Ohio called there 2-8-4s "Kanawhas," not Berkshires, because of the the Kanawha River in West Virginia.
The kanawha name of the c&o 2-8-4's remind me of the L&N 2-8-4's which were called "Big Emmas"
You forgot that 765 dressed up as c&o 2765
I can't wait for 587 to operate again
Yeah, along with 2716 and Old Smokey 2008 from RJ Corman!
I've been waiting for so long for this
So was I 🚂
WE WANT MORE! Bless us with more of these

I have video on the ground, and from a cab ride at the Monticello (Illinois) Railway Museum, in the 1990s of the 587. What a memorable experience!!!!
Do a look back at Union Pacific Steam Excursion Stars
Also one thing: u did forget to mention about 587 starring in her own film “587 the great train robbery”
2:00 May 1, 1971 is the correct date
This morning I was watching a video with the nickel plate engines, and I was wondering when you would make another one of these, then I came back and saw that you made this

She was considered for restoration but the boiler was apparently found to be too thin.
Can you do a look back at Pennsylvania Railroad excursion engines?
Maybe in the future, but as I have said numerous times, I've still got one more video I need to do before I can start taking suggestions again.
Buynot I love 587 because of its whistle from 1988
@@jeremyasher297 me to its a little noisy
A Masterpiece! Great work on this!
Got to ride the New River trip behind 765 sometime in the mid 1980s
could u do the Norfolk and Western excursion stars?

Saint Louis Southwestern and Texas and Pacific too!

The other preserved Nickel Plate steam locomotives are Nos. 755,757,763,779,44,170,360,384,624,and 639
Very nice work! I learned a lot from this video!
1:55 - The flat end of that observation car reveals it as ex PRR.
767 was technically a excursion star
This is more a thought but have you done up excursion engines?
I haven't done a video on UP engines yet, but I may do that in the future.
Buynot once you begin to do suggestions you can most likely guess what I’ll suggest
Can you do an episode on N&W steam locomotives?
i have been summoned
also 587 is beaned and awaiting funds so that work can resume
You should try to do a history video on my favorite steam locomotive (Pere Marquette 1225)
What if lionel made a model of the polar express as a Delaware and hudson locomotive with an anthracite coal firebox

NKP 765 goes into 15 year rebuild in 2021
She actually got a third rebuild already from late 2017 to fall 2018
*2031
Or something like that
Apparently FWRHS do part of 765’s rebuild when she isn’t doing any excursions, or so I have been told
With that rebuild from 2017-2018 she'll be good til 2033 when it's time for her next rebuild
