  • "Insane Distortion" is right - this is easily the angriest, most treble-forward, buzzsaw-esque distortion pedal I've used. I had to roll the tone all the way to the darkest setting, engage the low AND fat boosts, and go easy on the gain - otherwise, even with very little amplifier overdrive, this thing wanted to run away with harmonic feedback, squeals, pitch chirps, all that great arena-sized rock stuff. You could put the quietest guitar though this and end up with full-stack ear bleed. And that's a good thing. I think.
Tanner's Two-Minute Tryouts are a series of fast demos of nearly one hundred guitar effects pedals. These aren't comprehensive pedal reviews - instead, I am looking for a setting that I find immediately inspiring and capturing the first thing that comes to mind. Sometimes messy, sometimes dreamy, always around two minutes.

Signal path: Fender Custom Shop David Gilmour NOS through a single pedal at a time into a Mesa/Boogie Mark V 90-watt combo, clean channel. I am capturing with a Neumann TLM170R through an Antelope Zen Go and minimally processing in Logic Pro.

I love that you are doing cheap pedals in addition to the high end pedals in this video series

I appreciate the feedback! I’m sure guilty of assuming things sound better if the price is higher, and these sub-$50 boxes are recalibrating that behavior for me. I did a compressor on this channel too that truly gives my $200 Keeley a strong run for the money, and the Teisco set I’ve done are easily half the new price on the used market and sound so cool. Thanks for stopping by!
