Hold on to your dad! Love on him and let him know just how amazing he is! Your dad reminds me of my father so much he has been deceased since Oct 2009 but I miss him so much!
Have you tried "fry over boiled dumplings"...dats sooo nice too. Cut it in 4 (across and down), fry, sprinkle a little salt...OMG Yummy!! Overnight boiled food (dumplings, banana, yam, sweet potato etc.) on a whole, just slice and fry. Nice!!
I’ve made the Rasta pasta, curry stew, baked chicken and coconut rice. Thankfully I found sis Maggi and vegeta. My husband wanted to know if Deddy had a dumpling video. He absolutely loves the food. Tell daddy thank you for teaching a country girl how to make authentic Jamaican food. His food is 💯 times better than the restaurants. Blessings to your family! ♥️
Yeah!!! Boiled dumplings THIS is what I've been looking for, and cornmeal for more flavor and texture...that's nice!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to film it for us to see and learn from🙂👍!!! Your plate looks delicious!
I’m so happy I found this channel. Yuh daddy so sweet and kind. And you do a great job asking “why” and “what happens” so inexperienced cooks like me get a good understanding. ❤ I was looking for the simple boiled dumpling recipe and the first things that come up on Google search are recipes like “spelt flour”, “Himalayan pink salt” “glutton free dumplings”, “healthy girl cooks” raaaaaahhhhhhtidddddd. But this is the one 🎉Looking forward to checking out more of your videos. Thank you 🙏
Happy New Year to you and your family! This is my first time on your page and I, enjoyed the relationship you have with him and how you two express such love. Thank you for making the cooking process with such ease!❤🙏❤
Indeed real cooking......was in boggwalk some years ago and ate real food in the blessed Island of Jamaica.Rundown, balmy, susumba akhee and saltfish, cookup rice, goathead soup, nigra yam and fried parrot fish........loved Jamaica and its food and courteous people.
“Look how the back is into it!!!” 😂😂😂 Yes man!!! That’s the way you do it when you have passion for your cooking. I love it, love it, love it!!! LOL!! I can eat boiled dumpling with absolutely EVERYTHING or just by themselves with a little salt or hot sauce!!! I used to tell my dad that I didn’t want food, just dumpling. Clearly, that wasn’t going down with my Jamaican parents. They always gave me the green banana, potato, and yam too.😟 BTW… I love that you spelled “Deddy” that way because that’s exactly how I say it too, although I never thought about a different spelling. I was born in the US and in school all my friends used to say I said certain words funny. But it’s a part of my culture and I’m proud of being Jamaican-American (although my mom calls me an American) and I love it when I recognize similarities in behavior with other West Indians.
Mr. Deddy I just did some dumpling with Red Herring, Ling Fish, Fried Plantain, Sweet potato, Green Fig and Green papaya chop up. Enjoy my dinner! Blessings to you!
Hi there, I transcribed the recipe as I totally plan on doing this for my soups next time I cook one: In a large bowl, combine: 1.5 pounds all-purpose flour .5 cup cornmeal .5 teaspoon salt Mix it up. A little bit of *cold* water. Knead. Add enough water throughout the kneading process to form dough. Should have no dryness, when completed. Pull a piece off, and form as desired. (Deddy was rolling coins, caterpillars and cow's tongue) Add to a desired brothy/soupy dish, or boiling water. Cover with lid. Turn down to medium heat,. Allow to boil. Dumplings are done when they rise to the top.
I used the dumplings in my rutabaga , cabbage , collards chicken ect . ect . Thanks granny can't remember how to make em anymore so you saved me with this one
Love this video! My first meal in Jamaica was eggs, sardines, bananas, and dumplings. I love it! I've been trying to recreate the meal ever since I had it. These dumplings were amazing❤❤❤ thanks so much
I’m so happy for you and your dad doing these cooking lessons for the world, I grew up in Jamaica but my parents never taught me. It was after moving to the UK I self taught myself and now living in Australia i turn to UA-cam to sometimes get little tips. Thank you both for sharing and yes i too can’t get that cow tongue out of my head 😂😂
Hey ya'll. Writing from the state of Georgia. I'm waiting for you to make a tart. Coconut is my favorite but Guava will be good as a second choice. Take care family and be safe. And Thanks for keeping us entertained and educated.
Glad to see the cornmeal in there, nice looking dumplings. Just a couple of tips let the dough rest before rolling, the dumplings will look smoother. Peel the bananas before cooking so there isn't a grey cast on the food.
Omg, my grandmother used to do this when I was growing up. I remember watching her in the kitchen. Never understood while she'd peel the hell out of the bananas before boiling with the rest of the food: yam, potato, sweet potato, etc. Now I know why. Thnx
WE eat dumplin with saltfish or smokeherring fry with onion and tomatoes and pimento or bellpeppers.Trinidad style.I see your daughter mention Trinidad that's nice.
Thank you so much ,I got the dumpling right for my chicken soup and my goat curry was on point. I love your cooking very easy , to the point and taste is amazing .
I remember the dumpling with corn meal the best. Today dumplings is only made with flour the worst. Thankyou for the traditional way of making dumplings.
I've had this exact dish before! It was delicious however, I found myself intrigued with the thick texture of the dumplings. I'm accustomed to chicken and dumplings where the dumplings are thinner and infused with the broth or stock of the chicken. BTW, the Curry Shrimp, me put me foot in it 🤗😂. It was scrumptious--and on the very first try too❣
Love.love.love Plantain!! I LOVE Deddys kitchen and so thankful for you all doing this!! Never boiled with skin on, never saw that either..i was hoping he would say the purpose. Interesting
My assumption for boiling with the skin is because there’s lots of nutrients in the skin. But also be careful and buy organic then because you don’t want the pesticides from the average banana boiling in with the food ❤️
😎🇯🇲🇺🇸 Father and Daugther this cool. I like that the daughter is very observant of what her Dad doing. The food look so good. I miss grandma cooking JM.
o my goodness the food look so delicious,I am for Barbados and I can eat some now,I love love ackee salt fish ,provision and dumplings,I am going to make some this weekend, thanks for sharing your recipe fam,

Deddy!!!!! Hi Family!! I don't miss a video. Ok..can you please help me figure out how to make a dumplin that is suitable for diabetics. Would love to learn how to make substitutes for Dad. Thank you.

I don't think that is Rasta pasta because rastafarian people don't eat meat
Tip ...... I usually salt the water to taste, then use amount of salted water needed to flour mixture.... Absolutely love this channel BIG UP!!!!

It’s known as provisions in Jamaica too we just nickname it food! Great video! I made this on Wednesday with salt fish and okra.
I love your cooking food looking great everything on point real Jamaica cooking
Wait Wait , I’ve been looking for this recipe forever, a good friend of mine introduced me to Jamaican cuisine when I was 13, I remember these
Grenada also and the banana boiled with skin for it not to get dark
Thank you so much
Add a little milk to water and your bananas will not turn dark.
Use lime/lemon juice or saltfish to prevent your pot water from becoming black when cooking bananas etc.
My grandma would squeeze a bit of lime juice into her water to ensure that the bananas wouldn't turn black while boiling.
Thanks for sharing! I always wanted to make boiled dumplings 😩
i’m on your page almost every other week, i love you guys 🤣

@@georgebarker5258
Just another method that I grow with too
@@georgebarker5258 Think of it like making bread, it needs to be kneaded though not necessarily so much. Just until the dough is soft and smooth.
