Riker: "Is it true just one of these soldiers defeated you, Mr. Worf?"
Worf: *grumbles* "Aye, sir."
Riker: "Mr. Worf, you are personally in charge of the Captain's safety when down there facing dozens of these soldiers. I know I can count on you."
Worf: "Of course!"
Riker: *evil grin of soon to be Captain*
"just remember enterprise- _captain_ riker's never lost!" -Riker, _Peak performance_
That's one Major Grin
How did Mirror Riker slip over? 🤷🏼♂️🤓😎🖖🏻
LOL...Worf ALWAYS gets his ass kicked, right? I would've made Deanna responsible for his safety before Worf.
@@davincent98I understood that reference 😆
Riker.."You are personally responsible for the Captain's safety."
Worf... "No shit."... "Sir."
Hope they told Starfleet they found Zefram Cochrane.
💪💪💪
Zefram Cochrane?? What!? How's he connected with all of this jazz? I mean ya First Contact, character established, but what is that character's connection to this??!
*Frantically looks up for whatever tf I've missed*
@@myflippinggoodness8821 maybe he likes lots of beans.
What you see here is the result of what follows...
Don't LOOK like the guy from Metamorphosis 🤷🏼♂️🤓😎🖖🏻
Riker: Mr. Worf, you are personally responsible for the captain’s safety.
Worf: I know. That’s why last year I let him walk into engineering after a Borg boarded the ship.
Riker: Mr. Worf, you are personally responsible for the captain’s safety.
Worf: I have a better idea. Talk him out of going on every damn away team mission.
Poor worf getting such responsibility thrust upon him in an environment where he has no power over captains safety
Leaving Worf in charge of Picard's safety is a nice way to get a promotion to captain!
He does tend to inheriate promotions when people die lol
Hey! Worf does his best! It’s his fault the episode would be over if he won that fight!
🧘♂️🌞👾
Xanatos level scheming from Riker right there
Work gets beat up all the time
Whew. If that was a hollow blue barrel, Worf would be done for. They do not fight with honor.
2:15 - Riker: Everything must be dramatic, even entering the turbolift.
best
Haha! I didn't know what you meant at first, but that sudden about turn at the end... wow!
I like the attention to detail. Those boxes are often heavy to lift for the characters, but then we can see them move around as if they had almost no mass thanks to the inertial dampeners working.
It was a weekly series with limited budget and time for each episode. Cut them some slack.
😆 Nut... 👏
Props to Patrick Stewart for saying, "Yes, Prime Minister" with a straight face.
A much better show!
Idea for a Star Trek show: Yes, Prime Minister In Space.
Let’s confuse youtube by making it think this channel is all about beans.
All hails Beans!
We should be getting beans recipe videos mixed with TV Clips.
Bean thinking about that.
@@g00gleminus96 careful, do it too hard and you get brain farts.
What the Heinz are you talking about?
I can not fathom your half-baked word sauce.
Love how Riker has a wtf look on his face at 2:11 when he is not selected for the away mission and then follows them into the lift anyway as if to say “maybe they won’t notice I’m tagging along 🤔”
It wasn't a situation Riker was comfortable with -- he saw it as part of his job to take the dangerous missions for his captain. But this was a situation that required a diplomatic approach, and no one handles diplomacy better than Picard.
“Mr. Worf… you are personally responsible for the bean’s safety.”
In other words, it's a miracle Picard lived to be 90+ years old
The hell w Troi and Data defend the Captain.
@@Archie2c So have Data seduce them while Troi kicks the sh!t out of them?
Worf manhandled that styrofoam block like a champ.
Angosians should have been warned the *moment* he breached that transporter beam.... and if they were... well they should've gotten the Hell out of there. xD
"I understand Commander!"
"No you can't! Don't even try!"
"I ... uh ..."
1:24 "Mr. Worf, sweep the area." Worf THE KLINGON: "We ain't found sh**7!" (Apologies to Tim Russ in "Spaceballs.")
😄😄😄😄
Danar, The Angosian Captain America!! 😂
Never under estimate a highly motivated soldier..
HooAh!!!
To Worf's credit, he'd probably get beat up a lot less if they fired torpedoes more often in the first place.
The lack of security cameras in Star Trek drives me crazy. We wouldn't accept this lack of information in a police procedural, let alone a scifi show. I could believe it if Marty Stu knocked out the cameras along with the guards, but to not have cameras at all just shows a deep lack of foresight into the kinds of stories that they were going to tell.
or it is the utopia ideal at work eliminating all contingency
What's funny is that, well, this:
"Captain, Galwron is deep inside the planet's core taking a dump."
"On screen."
And lo and behold we have Galwron on screen taking a dump but no cameras in any hallway on the ship.
The first enterprise (st: the search for spock) had cameras, and essentially a "black box"
@@birdandcatlover5597 LOL! Good one!
I always assumed security cameras were just unreliable in Star Trek, like the footage could be modified easily we’ve seen that in TOS, but maybe it’s just really easy to hack into them to the point where they’re an unreliable source of information flat out.
Chasing a " Super Cop " . Only Kill when Needs Must . At least THAT mistake wasn't made .
Worf gets in trouble anytime there are empty plastic containers around him
*RIKER:* Mr. Worf, you are personally responsible for the captain’s safety.
*WORF:* I understand, Commander. Nobody puts baby in a corner.
“Mr. Worf, sweep the area”.
“Aye, sir”.
*pulls out a broom and dustpan*
So this is where Zefram Cochrane disappeared to
Love how the cargo pod had a spot that fit perfectly for a phaser..
Jimmy Cromwell has been a real asset for playing guest roles throughout TNG and DS9.
The Star Trek franchise often recycled actors for different roles. Most directors and producers have "regulars" they like to cast for successive projects.
It was always kind of silly how they needed to establish this man is designed to be super dangerous, and didn't quite know how to establish that by making him smart and strong. So they just kind of nerfed everyone on the ship.
That one nagging thing known as budget constraints.
Good thing Counselor Troi is on the away team. To make sure nobody's feelings get hurt.
I love your little clips from the episodes, thank you! ❤
Literally the entire Command Staff in one group *UHM! WHAT*
Not Riker, he had to see them off for some reason.
@@LordTalax He didn't want Picard to go... but decided against trying to talk him out of it, snapping a bit at Worf instead.
Mr.Parso; you are personally responsible for the safety of those beans!
Woohoo!😊
Love this episode! Thanks for uploading :)
That's Xanatos! Assigning Worf will save time for the ultimate plan for Riker to become captain.
I just realized that almost everyone left the bridge. Who was left in charge? Some nameless mook ensign? Is Wesley in charge?
Lt. Dinckleberg from astrometrics
@@leonardotavaresdardenne9955 (Narrows eyes) Dinckleberg
Worf: "Yeah dude. That's the gig. This isn't my first day on the job".
"Mr Worf, sweep the area"
*hands Worf a broom*
"......I'm being punished, am I?"
"Yes you are, Mr Worf"
*United Federation of Pakleds*
Danar really doesn't need knowledge of Starfleet technology when the transporter console has a convenient place-improvised-power-supply-here compartment.
Worf lost every fight
It is a bit unbelievable that he knew exactly where to go in the ship to do the things he wanted to do.
2:40 _Pfffft! What?!_ Riker followed them all that way, _uninvited,_ to have a private--yes, private--aside with Worf about the Captain's safety, and that's it. That had to be the most awkward turbolift ride ever!
Picard: Number One? What are you doing? I need you on the bridge.
Riker: It's nothing sir, there's just something I need to see to.
Picard: If it's nothing, it can wait. Commanding the _Enterprise_ takes precedence, you know that.
Riker: Yes sir, don't worry, it'll only take a moment.
*[Walking through the corridor.]*
Picard: I can't help but notice that you're still with us, Commander.
Riker: Err yes sir, quite the coincidence.
Picard: Do you intend to follow us all the way to the planet's surface?
Riker: Of course not sir.
Picard: This better not be for some damned private pep talk about my safety. By now even the preschool children are aware of your misgivings about a Captain and away missions.
I refuse to believe this exact conversation did not happen.
And I just realized the entire senior staff on bridge duty left without putting anyone in charge. There's a command structure, but unless an officer was at the helm, everyone remaining on the bridge appeared to be wearing a crewman uniform (Season 1-2 surplus).
Given how frequently Picard, Riker, and Data are on the bridge together, it stands to reason that there are long periods of time where all three of them are off duty at the same time. Who's in command then? Does the entire ship just shut down at night?
Best not to think too hard about a TV show.
@@jdfree49 That's what _officers_ are for. It's not Senior Staff...and grunts, with nothing in the middle. _Star Trek_ has even had episodes about the night watch.
So almost the entire exec bridge beams to the surface of a potential war zone envolving super soldiers and the away team bring a few lasers (troy rarely using one) and one robot. Do the red coat security team just start writing their wills?
Maybe it's just my head-canon, but I always was CERTAIN that that entire exchange walking down the corridor was for RIKER'S benefit!
Riker made his stance VERY clear in Encounter at Farpoint that he would obey ANY order from Picard, BUT he would always prioritize the Captain's safety over that!
So, by establishing the danger was low or at least "reasonable" in that exchange, Riker wouldn't try to prevent Picard from Beaming down to the planet.
Exactly! Notice the little look Riker gives after Picard says he's going down.
I always found it odd that TNG was the only series that mentioned Captains could not join away teams. you can excuse the Enterprise series because that rule had not been made up yet. we can probably exclude TOS also mostly because of William Shatner. However DS9 and Voyager took place in the same era as TNG and neither Sisco or Janeway were told they could not go on away missions and some of the away missions in the later part of DS9 were to fight major conflicts with the Dominion
Once again:
Picard: I'm going on an away mission
Riker: You shouldn't, Captain
Picard: Screw you, Will
Riker: Worf, don't let him get himself killed.
I was worried Work wouldn't be able to move that styrofoam container off of him.
The ferengi, this guy, geesh the enterprise is very not well protected. Now Ent-E. She was a beast
"Danar has escaped. He has used a ferr-um...it's his fault"
The jem'hadar can learn a thing or two from this fellow!
I like how all the senior officers leave the bridge without designating an officer of the deck.
Riker didn't beam down to the planet, so he probably returned to the bridge shortly after that last clip.
Enterprise over here playing checkers against a chess player.
Who’s in command, Wesley? 😂😂😂
Kinda convenient the transporter has the exact receptacle to hack with a phaser. Design flaw methinks.😉
Worf has falling crates here no spinal damage later breaks back.
lol that's australia at 1:10
Was Frakes having a bad leg day? Why else would he spend many scenes at Worf's station?
He strained himself doing the Riker maneuver over his bridge chair.
He had a back injury a number of years ago before he joined the cast. This is why he postures with one leg over Data’s station to ease the discomfort
@@jamink28 yeah, it's almost as if I already knew that and was wondering if that is why he was standing in an odd place a lot in this episode.
Who knew that Styrofoam could be so deadly?
Worf was crushed by a container made of styrofoam painted black to look “metallic”. The revelations we see now that we have high def TVs.
Anyone else notice that the Prime Minister called the inhabitants of the colony that is supposed to be "for their own protection as well as that of others" prisoners without even thinking about it?
Wolf had that vaser pointed at his abdomen.
now no one is on the bridge in command ^^
That prime minister might have quite prominent ancestry back on 21st century earth 😅
You are trying to play Chess against a Grand Master who is thinking six steps ahead of you.
More like two steps ahead and the Federation Pakleds think 0-1 steps ahead.
Anyone else worried Work is gonna take that last order super seriously and show up like a swat team?
Worf always gets his ass kicked. Every. single. time.
Lets countdown all of Worfs F ups!
Takeaway from this episode: does anyone ever consider what to do with the soldiers _after_ the conflict is over?
No, they’re regarded as disposable assets. 😔
The problem is that too many of them survive the conflict. Then they need retraining, healthcare, pensions....Forget about it. Let's just drape the flag over ourselves and use the military as a prop.
All that effort, all that ruse, just to get transported about 12 meters to the right of where he was originally supposed to be transported...
0:19 A Klingon trapped by styrofoam.
1:54+ Didn't this guy play Zephran Coch in first contact?
The ship's external sensors are down, so why not launch a shuttle or two, or even a probe or two that could use their sensors to transmit back to the Enterprise, or to a shuttle in the shuttle bay that can be directly linked to the ship's computer. Then they would have working sensors, not as good as the Enterprise sensors, but something! The writer's keep forgetting about the shuttles and runabouts aboard the Enterprise unless they need them for a specific storyline.
Wait a minute. James Cromwell made an appearance in TNG before being hired to play Zefrem Cochrane? I never knew that
If you liked this episode read First Blood by David Morell.
There are hundreds of prisoners rioting! Which we can't show you because we live in one of those societies that has about a dozen people roaming around a couple rooms.
Extras are expensive, and this show was made on a shoestring budget.
@@watchwood Each episode was budgeted around 1 million in 1990s dollars, IIRC.
Look, if you don't want people to power your locked out transporter by powering it with a phaser, don't install a phase-shaped auxiliary power port on the control panel! Sheesh!
Good one !! I forgot.
How do you think an Angosian superman would fare against one of Khan's supermen?
Luck would determine it. The Angosian soldiers have been modified to be difficult to detect on sensors, etc. So it'd be a case of two very smart, cunning, and strong soldiers having to face off. Training would determine a lot as well. The Angosian solders have seen combat, but I guess Khan's people would have too.
@@JnEricsonx Khan's people were hyper violent and wouldn't hesitate to kill.
@@toomanyaccounts And once the Angonsian programming kicked in, neither would they.
@@JnEricsonx the Khanites would have first strike though and likely would wipe out the Angonsians
Jesus Riker, why did you say that to Worf?
I wanna see this guy go against a borg drone.
Who had the bridge at 2.20? An ensign?
The Angosians should have created genetically enhanced soldiers to deal with their genetically enhanced soldiers.
Imagine they all return to the bridge after their away mission and find nameless statists playing impersonation games. 😄
I've often wondered what Worf does after the mission is over, and he's been beaten by this weeks' bad guy, Change his training regimen? Try supplements?
This situation is just ridiculous, sending most of the top staff down to a dangerous place like that, why don't they have proper soldiers on board, and what the fuck is the councilor going to do.
Shuttles have f in censors....😮
All of the Bridge Crew are heading out?
Classic mustache disguise.
This show's magic can never be replicated. Why? It was essentially a patriarchy, Picard was the wise father figure, the paragon for Worf and Wesley and Geordie and the rest, the foil for Worf's tension with his own people. Cannot do patriarchies on tv anymore.
Beans!
0:18 Doesn't look like polystyrene at all really, does it?
Beans lots of beans
A phaser can power a transporter?
It can disintegrate many people with a charge and be used as a potent explosive device. Seems sufficient.
Danar could have been TNGs Khan Noonian Singh...
a small handheld weapon has enough energy to power a large transport unit.......and there's a hatch on the panel to help this happen? Starfleet has though of everything! (sarcasm)
that handheld weapon can vaporize a person.
Why doesn't anybody ever just get to this "Large" character everybody is at, first? Wouldn't that be easier?
Shuttles don't have sensors?
If only there was a war in a few years that these guys could have helped in.
Oh wait!
The Federation would probably have treated them better.
GTA: Alpha Quadrant
James Cromwell
Don't trust that guy. I heard he had an affair.
foam must be really heavy.
That storage case weighs over 3 LBS!!!!
Foam is kryptonite for Klingos. Didn’t you know?
I did. A foam storage container breaks his spine in a later episode.
Ya'll remember Floam?
