Darn Nikki P your second to last turn at 1:12:00. you could of put the 2 wild card in those 2 grasslands you pointed at, then the 2 deserts on the city spots to connect 4 cities for 27 points vs the 8 for the tower.
Great, thanks. haven't had any abiding interest in games on the channel fora while but I find I really enjoy watching this game when it is played well. All the best.

This is very true. I’ve loved the recent games. Sometimes there’s a couple that are less. And it’s great that they all get played! Regardless of the games, I always love the group! Thanks for the countless hours of content and effort guys. 🎉

What are your thoughts on the hidden money amounts, does it actually add to the game? Or is it just feel tacked on. It seems like you are so focused on your own board that other players scores aren’t really a focus?
Hi chuckm, I'm currently trying to fathom this myself. Do you remember how/where you identified that the Capital is allowed to participate in trade routes because my BGG search and rules skim is not finding a definitive statement although I know this and feel that it isn't true by omission of excluding the Capital. I am running an up to 8 player game on Friday and having read the rules and forum previously it is difficult to know where to look without rereading everything if it doesn't just pop up! Cheers
Damn, re read rules page 7 Cities and trading posts, again, and this time "capital space" is right there, thanks skippy brain. "When you connect 2 city spaces with explorers and no trading posts with an unbroken chain of explorers, villages, and or your capital space you must complete a "trade route"..." Sorry about that. Cheers
I don't know if it's a man thing but men always love a post-mortem strategy review; that said at least Lincoln and Dave's makes some sort of sense ours tends to be a mindless ramble. Think Nikki just loves playing she was unlucky on this one think Lincoln had a good last turn; also like the way you are positive about the games even if they are not fully your type of game.
I like the concept of the game but it does look super fiddly with the pieces. Could Nicki not have connected 2 pairs of cities at the end for 9+9=18 coins? This highlights one of the issues with the map that its not easy to identify the land types so maybe I got that wrong. Also I believe Lincoln missed placing a village on the 4 green spaces. Thanks for the playthrough! ... edit - oh hang, I think I answered my own question the explorers had to be adjacent.
It's first to complete the objective earns 10coins, everyone who completes it earns 5 coins. Everyone being able to earn the public objective only one time per game.
I'm back and forth about getting this game. Seems like there isn't enough player interaction. Kinda seems like the whole, "let's play a solo game together" type feel... 😕
I'm not a fan of the new ads in the video itself.....they're very jarring. I use these to fall asleep to and the ads can jar me awake. They're also louder than the speaking of everyone. Still love the show very calming and informative.
@@WitsEnd_MF I don't mind the fact that they're ads, I mind that it is such an audio shift. They're much louder than the rest of the video apart from the intro.
Nikki's play was fantastic. I was not commenting on her game but only the rough timing of the flips for me. I almost cut that out but I realized it was important to show how the game works. I want Nikki to win more than anyone, including myself. You need to play to win games but winning is ultimately not my priority. In the end I think the game is great when you understand that there is luck but you can plan ahead and make the best of what you get. I mention it in the final round that I just planned to make the best of the flips left without worrying about the timing. Thanks for the note and for watching.-Lincoln
@@boardgamegeek thank you for replying The timing was off but I understand that the game was not playing in your favor Sorry if my comment was a bit direct, and thank you for explaining
I think the order that the cards come out is a central tension element of this game. For myself and my partner, we enjoy a bit of luck in games because if we are doing poorly it feels like it's bad luck but if you're doing well, of course it's because you're a mega-genius. In this case, Nikki's gameplay strategy aligned with the card sequence in the moments where it mattered. To me, this is a moment where players need to credit Nikki for her mega-genius (and luck-aided strategy) while bemoaning their terrible luck (which their strategies did not mesh with). For my interpretation, that's all that I saw, rather than any devaluing of Nikki as a player or her success

I am going to play this game for the first time this coming weekend. Looking forward to it, I think it looks great. I can tell, I will play it and then I will want to play it again right away to do better.
Looking sharp Dave, I like this look on you. Thanks for teaching the game!
I quite like this game, especially as a solo game with either the solo rules or multi-handed, and I enjoyed watching this playthrough
Looks super fun, great playthrough. Like a roll and write and Carcassonne combined.
With a bit of Kingdom Builder/Blue Lagoon splashed in 😊👍🏾👍🏾

I just played this the other day for the first time. I really liked it. Very thinky, which I love.
This game is very popular with my group. I think it's being labelled a breakfast game. It is casual, with coffee.
I definitely need to get this game. I think I will really enjoy it!!

Yes I have felt the same way, the quality of games seems to have dropped off, I wonder if it is linked to the commercialisation of the channel

Chandler voice: Could this boardgame BE more beige?
It looks like an ancient map, very appropriate.
According to my reading of the rules, Dave was incorrect when he said that the capitol cannot be used as a connecting space to link 2 cities.

Seems like this game would be really good as an app.
At 1:16 (or thereabouts), couldn't Nikki have scored both those city connections? She didn't need to place those deserts next to each other, did she?
Yep, at 1:15:43, she could have scored 18 points (3x3 + 3x3)
This is such a great game
Спасибо за видео. Игра выглядит очень привлекательно и стильно.
Looks like a ramped up version of Blue Lagoon.

I had the same though.I thought the desert ones did not need to adjacent.
@@LifeUntilLove The desert one did need to be adjacent, but the question marks don't. So yes, she could have easily won.
@@damaddestgamer Right, not the desert, the wild ones. I was so confused why didn't she take that.
I thought once a player achieved a 10 coins public objective, all other players can do the 5 coins one multiple times?

1st Comment! Love the show!
I think Dave forgets to take coins for the villages a few times right?
Looks like a fun game. The name of the game is so forgettable / generic, so it's helpful to have videos like this.
No one sees the kingdom builder connection ?
Yeah, nice video. I like the game but as always there's ten to fifteen percent that the rule book isn't clear with. Keep up the good work.
Every card in this game is different, not how Dave sad few times :)
