I have an extremely addictive personality. But luckily alcohol never got a hold of me. I could not imagine. Keep up the good fight. Your an inspiration to many.
Yep. You only have to quit for one day. That's how I did it. I was highly motivated by a heart attack too though. Did the AA thing for 30 days. Got my chip. I wasn't impressed though. Bunch of people who just replaced one vice with a few others. They smoke like fiends and drink way too much coffee. And the sob stories. Geeesh. Couldn't handle it man. Got my chip and left. I have no idea where that chip is today. But I still have a few now and again. Mostly when I'm camping and then it's only a few. During my birthday week I only had 9 beers total and that included the four I had on my birthday at the party we had out in Death Valley. I'm good with it. Glad you are OK too Nick. Hang in there. You know you could spend some of that time going through my more than 900 videos... LOL...

And Nick has been hanging in there for well over a year. Can you say any of the same? I never intended to quit drinking forever. I just wanted to quit for 30 days to see how hard it is. I did it. Now I very seldom drink. And when I do it's usually never more than 2 or 3 beers. Look in the closest mirror and you'll see who the loser is.

This used to be me.. I used to go out every single weekend, thinking it would give me all the answers.. Happiness, Fulfilment, Meaningful Friendships, meet my SoulMate.. You see a lot of people use Alcohol as a crutch to reward them with the Confidence to approach that person, or the Charisma to get up and Dance or the Humour to make people laugh or whatever that may be. But if you look deep inside you CAN carry all these incredible traits without a Drop of Alcohol, replacing your Weekends going to Bars to Weekends filled with Incredible Hobbies that fulfil you internally and that build towards your Dreams. Imagine Building the Business of your Dreams, Traveling the World, Building your Dream Body or whatever it is you want in your One Life. If you have ever considered Giving up Alcohol, Even cutting down on Alcohol or wanting to replace your Weekends of Clubbing with fulfilling events.. then I am here to tell you it is 100% possible and very very simple. It is never too late to turn your Life around guys! Clubs are designed to get you as intoxicated as possible and spend more money, it is a Business. The music, the lights, the people. Cracking this code is amazing, do things that fulfil you and the rest will follow! :)

You may not like posting these vids but I have them saved as a reminder for myself for when I get too complacent. I also am not a fan of the AA but ive been forced through it several times and got a few things out also. I love that you mentioned the nap thing when you start feeling "squirely" and also that you mentioned staying productive. Those 2 things are very important for me also and have helped me tremendously. Thank you for this vid I needed to revisit it today.
Before I'm saying something which might upset you, let me give you some intro: I'm a little over 2 years sober now for the first time in 20 years. I've also been struggling with booze, drinking the same or even more than you on a daily basis. You just sound like me when I've been trying to stay sober before my current attempt. In the past, I've been a so called "dry drunk", basically still the mindset of an alcoholic but fighting the urge. Fighting the urge can work but my life was miserable, always debating with myself why I should or shouldn't drink, keeping myself busy all the time etc. What I've done now differently is working on the reasons WHY I was drinking, in my case it was anxiety and loneliness. Using therapy I can gladly say that I have 0 cravings anymore and a completely new life started. So my advice to myself if I'd relapse: Analyze the situation which led me to grab the drink. Did I feel lonely? Anxious? Depressed? Our mind is or was programmed to use alcohol in such conditions, but we can retrain it. With therapy and lots of mental exercise. All the best!
Much respect towards you Gnarkill, your accomplishments to remain sober is an honorable thing, you should be proud... Keep up the great work bruh! 👍 On a lighter side of things. Your facial reaction to random noises had me busting up, you're quite the character Gnarkill. Much Respect, 🙏 Richie Rich
Keep it up brother I was just like you back in the day and I quit for a few months. I only drink if we bbq or go camping now. I can control it now and feel so much better to.
Just keep an eye on that and be careful. I'm not saying that this is the case for everybody (or for you for that matter), but for a large majority moderation is procrastinating the inevitable. You either slide back over time or you just have to quit outright. Self honesty is the key. Keep up the good work Shannon!

Thanks for vid, I did the AA route but then went the way worked for me, Tues Dec 10th was nine years for me. Good for you! I've been thinking about quitting as well, recently I've started drinking daily, been this way for months and it's making me feel really off, but for some reason I can't seem to get myself to stop. I enjoy looking at these videos for inspiration. I hope you're still going strong and thank you for taking the time out of your day to help give us some insight.
Our focus cannot be “trying not to drink”. That is living in the problem. We must change what we DO! We take action that we don’t believe in, and get results we can’t explain. I sincerely wish you all the best!
Lost my mother last moth & her partner has regressed. Same drink you mentioned in this. Man has been like a father to me for most of my life. I hate seeing him like this. I've had a problem with junk food in the past. Still get cravings. Dropping an addiction is not an easy think to do so be proud of what you have achieved.
So glad you saw your wrong. Good thing for your future. "Simple Man" Lynard Scynard listen with your free time. I have always tried to show my son how life should be just be a simple man. Life will be good. Melva
You didn't mention how much better sober sex is. I've been to AA meetings, both forced and voluntarily. It's not for me either. Too much dwelling on the past. They said you can't stay sober without them. I haven't had a drink since 1984, so there are exceptions to that rule. But for many its a great program.
On becoming a non-drinker I always get this image in my head of a load of different types of people standing in a field, where each person is standing in front of a specific door that is unique to them. And on each door there are multiple different locks, different to every other door that that person must work out how to unlock. The one thing in common is that every person is trying to get through the door and away from abuse. Sadly in the non-drinking community there is too much energy spent trying to put down others for the method they have found to unlocking their door. I personally didn't attend A.A because I didn't need to. I found my own way to unlocking the door, but I know for a fact that A.A has helped others. Ultimately it is about getting through that door and away from the sheer horrors of the abuse of alcohol. It is also about falling in love with the sheer beauty of the other side and despising the abuser you escaped from.
@ two sox Yes that seems to be a reoccurring point made by a lot of people which is why A.A doesn't work for everybody and there should be numerous options available to people who no longer want to drink alcohol. I don't really see the point in lamenting over alcohol as if it's some long lost lover especially coming together in groups to agree on this. As long as that mind set is in place, people will be caught in a terrible cycle of having to rely on their willpower: a will power is a terrible tool for overcoming addiction. The day you see everything directly and indirectly related to alcohol as abusive, destructive and abhorrent is the day you no longer have to use will power. It's a very liberating day when even the thought of alcohol makes you want to puke.

Hey Elena. if you need some help quitting- hmu. I help people get past the anxiety, stress and social pressures that come with putting down the bottle.
Thank u Bro it's my second day being somber pray for me I really Need This
praying for you i know what it's like to battle the bottle
How is it going?
It’s my first day, & I’m committed to staying sober!
YOU GOT THIS! Keep going it gets better
“Your misery will be gladly refunded to you”- legendary quote I think about everytime I even consider doing drugs again. I am with the lord and the lord is with me and as long as I keep my promise, the good lord will keep his and protect me, bless me, and put me in the best position to maintain long term sobriety. With him anything is possible. Good luck to all looking for recovery or in recovery! We are ALL in this fight together as ONE! God be with you and stay safe and strong you all. Love every single one of you recovering addicts, this community helps me a lot thank you 🙏🏼
I’m a year 8 months alcohol free too! Watching UA-cam vids really helps. It’s a long process of rewiring the brain and rebuilding your life but well worth it! I’ve noticed my life outlook becoming more positive too
Good job man, I was just as bad, I'm 5 weeks sober feelin good!
How's your sobriety going?
Dude, right on. I first found you on UA-cam because I was searching for sleeping in my suburban and videos about Suburban's and I am so glad I found you. You inspire and help people so much by telling your story and just being real. Thanks Man.
hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to learn about best steps to stop drinking try Bablim Zero Drinking Booster (just google it ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my co-worker got cool results with it.
Fantastic video Captain ! I've watched many quitting drinking video's and just as you said stop watching at some point usually because I'm not feeling any connection to what they are saying. You my friend managed to captivate me for the entire video being about as honest a person that you could be. My hats off to you for unselfishly bearing your soul for half an hour so that people like me might find a glimmer of hope for ourselves in what your experience has been like and what you did to get out of it. Very moving!
Wow 2 years already? I have been following since just before you decided to quit and can only tell you how proud I am of you and happy for you and Lexi both ,, Keep Rockin man
“WE STAY SOBER NO MATTER WHAT” So Simply Yet SOO POWERFUL, Thanks Cap
I’m so productive when I’m sober
Don’t be afraid.. you are gifted with your experience and delivery 🙏
47 days! Thanks for these videos!
Thanks man. Being 77 days clear. I totally get the AA comments. Father of three young ones makes it very hard for me to dedicate the amount of time they are saying is needed. I'm so trying to take what works for me. On step 4and 5 and am hopeful it helps me continue this path.
Alcohol = $ hangovers, jail, embarrassment, and depression. 👊
yes depression
True
Don't miss hangovers one bit
Hangovers are the worst. Feels great for three hours and shitty for the rest of the day.
@@LuisSuarez-yv8zn shitty for days and days after

Right on man. Keep up the good work! I’m 4.5 months sober. Whiskey and miller lite was my go to. 12 pack a night at least! Now I’m focused on building my TJ and saving so much money! Lol it’s crazy. Enjoy your videos
Currently on day 4. This is my 3rd attempt. I’m all in and never looking back.
Im not exactly at smirnoff a day level but am definitely getting there this is the wake up call i needed
I like the fact you call a spade a spade!! Well video, I've struggled with alcohol for over 10 years. Sober up, fall in the rabbit hole, sober up blah blah blah...but you nailed every focus point!! Without shame, well said my man👍👍
Thank you for sharing this. I needed some encouragement.
LOL...
mobiltec yer a loser, go back to drinking like gnarkills going to.
@@billyblastoff4179 Who the holy fuck are you? Ya know I do pretty damn good for being a loser. I'm a veteran of the Vietnam war, a skydiver and hang glider pilot for over 30 years, own my own property and my own successful business and I know how to spell which is something you obviously don't.
I had the “super senses” experience when I quit smoking, it will be amazing if I get to experience it again in quitting drinking.
Laying on the couch 3 weeks, recovering from HERNIA SURGERY #4..Quit drinking Jan 06 because of your Courage. Unfortunately had a relapse 4 days out of the Hospital. 2 large tumblers of Tequila.. Quit again for sure. My friend KIM ordered me a grey-cap from you. I'm not computer savy.. Cant wait for it to arrive.. Heal well, Brother..
So happy for you! I've lost two loved ones to liver failure due to alcohol. I wish they would have done what you did. Congratulations!!
These sobriety vids are how you will go viral. Im fighting my own problems with this. We have very similar stories. I dig your common sense approach to sobriety and your openness telling us all this.
Hey Adam, if you need some help quitting- hmu. I help people get past the anxiety, stress and social pressures that come with putting down the bottle. Stay strong!
Antonio Nathan Pargas info on getting passed the anxiety im 40+ days sober and can’t shake it
I’m currently 7 days sober been trying to be sober for a month I’m 23 years old I started going to AA and it’s helped me a lot including God 🙏🏽 I’m slowly starting to feel my freedom coming back! I can relate to a lot of what you’re saying I’ve made a fool out of myself countless times I lost the person I thought was going to be husband and it’s all because of my addiction I’m an alcoholic and WE GOT THIS WITH GOD ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! I hear in AA don’t walk out that door before the miracle happens don’t stop going make time for it!
How's your recovery going? I'm trying to cut back, just looking for support from others in a similar position!
Currently 5 months sober!!
🙏🏽❤️
@@jaquelineestrada7845 congrats and prayers up! I'm slowly starting to battle my drinking problem after years of denial lol
Thanks for sharing this video . I'm a heavy drinker myself and I'm trying my hardest to quit it's honestly humiliating and embarrassing all the blackouts and shit , and I also picked fights and do dumb shit .. it makes me feel better hearing your story all the similarities , and you stopping drinking, congratulations
Dude. You are SO spot on. Thank you! I love the "we stay sober no matter what" comment. I'm struggling and need help. YOU are helping bro. Thank you. I'll end there because I forgot what else I was going to say. AWESOME video. I remember.
Inspirational message! We are so proud of what you've accomplished!!
Thank brother for opening up to us on your videos, so happy for your struggles and staying on top. God bless and intill we see you again injoy
This video is gold man
Ive always wanted to talk to people about quitting
Yo Lance, if you need some help quitting- hmu. I help people get past the anxiety, stress and social pressures that come with putting down the bottle.
Hey man, just came up on yr channel. Trying to quit the shit in my head, my girl is a recovering alcoholic......at a crossroads
You a so appreciated, you do a great job talking about it. And are probably reaching an important audience, guys who aren’t as young as they once were, but have years to go to drink until their organs are all shutting down, plenty of time to get healthy and clear. I have 7 months and I feel fantastic. Good work you!
Excellent post Jennifer and so incredibly true. Well done on your 7 months! Feels good when you raise your game and enjoy your new found life
You've showed me change is possible! If you can do it anyone can! Thank you for inspiring me! What a blessing to come across your videos.
You spoke directly to me about the four walls and shutting people out
So glad you remembered to add the very old man’s quote at 17:00. That was very powerful.
You helped, or inspired me man! I am very drunk right now but hoping to change my habit soon as its running my marriage, so please carry on
@Jewel Joy Beautiful response, thank you Jewel :-)
Can we talk?
You got this! Coming here and watching this video is a first step!
Jewel Joy No
I have been sober in AA for 32 years and I was a mess when I walked into AA!!
You do not have to be alone with AA and you can be in a group that help each other!!
Thanks for the positive video about your sober journey ... So far!!
5 days in, finding some inspiration here as the weekend is coming and it’s my days off as I’m a shift worker. Drinking rum every other night when not working, enough is enough. But life is all a bit boring without it. I need to do 30 days for myself!
I don't even drink hard alcohol. But my beer drinking is bad. I really appreciate you.
Youre such a brave guy to stop drinking and then share your story. Thnx man!
Thank you for making videos, one hour sober and I pray I can actually make it this time. I am at my personal rock bottom, I just left my job yesterday to come home and drink because I couldn’t handle an anxiety attack on shift :( I want to be happy and healthy and I will keep coming back to these videos to find strength. Thank you. Followed you on insta :)
CM, Hey hun. Im sorry you're having such a difficult time right now. You are not alone. if you need some help quitting or even just someone to talk to- hmu. I help people get past the anxiety, stress and social pressures that come with putting down the bottle.
Very inspiring brother. I had two months clean and just relapsed.
Love how you focused on the positive benefits from stopping 👍 thanks
Fantastic video dude!!!
I agree with everything you said.
I just got out of rehab 3 weeks ago. Got 59 days sober today.
Have a great one!!!!
Way to be courageous to share your story. Through the shame and the pain you are being a leader and showing others the way to live a better life.
Today is my 2and day sober, your story is inspiring, now it's up to me too continue on day by day!
this was an awesome video. your take on being sober was not scary. thank you. sending good vibes your way. so glad things are better for you...
So glad you beat the beast! An inspiration for others
Box Truck Cory we never beat the beast.
On a lighter side of things. Your facial reaction to random noises had me busting up, you're quite the character Gnarkill.
Much Respect, 🙏
Richie Rich
Thank you Mr Gnarkill Thank you
Now I drink beer about 5 days nonstop, and can not stop. I subscribe and gonna watch all your videos if I survive
I love just hearing stories of ppl with the same struggles ,thanks for this video!
I’m happy for you man. Keep up the good work. And everything you sad is spot on with recovery. At least it resonated with me.
Thanks man
13 years sober was drinking since 12 and quit at 22 one year after the legal drinking age it's day by day boredom is the worst enemy! Hell yeah thank you sharing! My mom was in the hospital for 10 days coming off booze she doesn't Remember the days at all! Always take my own car and be out around 11 12 the latest I'm not either first 3 steps most important but always have a home to walk into to where we all have something in common!! Congrats thank you for sharing hugs from afar keep on trucking still very aware at 13 years which is cause I've heard a lot of people with many years and than think it's ok I'll have one than the trickle effect I've also like to relate to heroin addicts both waking up in the morning sick throwing up don't eat etc your awesome keep shining your a star ⭐
This is a great video I watch it often when I’m suffering from horrible hangover like right now
quitting alcohol is super hard. i been off drugs for about 18 months. and that wasnt nearly as hard as the drink. but i still try
Thank you for this video. Ive been struggling with alcohilism for a long time now. This video was encouraging.
Thanks for vid, I did the AA route but then went the way worked for me, Tues Dec 10th was nine years for me. Don’t say this to impress or ego based rather it is all possible however you run your programme and main thing is no alcohol and we get on with our lives. Simply I love being sober and want this more than the other option. Thanks again and respect to you 👍✌️
Hey dude thanks for this. I viewed your 1 year sobriety video. I'm amazed at the candor and realness to your recovery story. Keep pushing forward. Ready up end this relapse. Making moves now to do so
great video CGK.... stay strong dude ... see ya next week
This is helping me with trying to stop drinking, I am struggling with this. Thanks 😊 Stay Sober
Melva
Hope you are ok pal, haven’t seen a video from you in a while. Sending good vibes from Scotland ❤️
Bro, watched your videos on sobriety and just wanted to say job well done man.
Stay STRONG NICK....
You didn't mention how much better sober sex is.
I've been to AA meetings, both forced and voluntarily. It's not for me either. Too much dwelling on the past. They said you can't stay sober without them. I haven't had a drink since 1984, so there are exceptions to that rule. But for many its a great program.
Yeah, I just didn't like hearing horror stories over and over and talking about alcohol. It made me want to drink.
@
two sox Yes that seems to be a reoccurring point made by a lot of people which is why A.A doesn't work for everybody and there should be numerous options available to people who no longer want to drink alcohol.
AA is a waste of time. I quit on my own, I didn't need a cult and I never thought I had a 'disease'.
@@CaliforniaCarpenter7 it works for many, so I can't agree that it's a waste of time.
