Ubisoft canned the original plot. They didn't even tell Nolan North that Desmond would be killed off at the end of AC III. The bleeding effect was going to lead into Desmond becoming a living, breathing animus who could travel back in time naturally via his DNA, so that he could easily unlock the secret temples of The Ones Who Came Before in the modern day. (Hence why you'd all those temples in AC II, Brotherhood and Revelations. They were preparing you for that type of game-play for the modern day segments.) After Patrice was fired, the original story was removed.
10:47 i love this cutscene. its literally the game devs going "this is the canonical end of the series we had planned. ubisoft just told us 2 hours ago that this is becoming an annual series. we're so sorry."
Not really, the creator of the franchise (who got pretty much kicked out by Ubisoft after Brotherhood) said that what Desmond would find in the temple would be a Piece of Eden that would let him travel through time, along with the ability to see his ancestor's memories without having to use the animus. (which is already hinted at in AC2 with that Altair sequence where you climb a tower) He would use these two in combination to alter history and try to save the world.

You know, I actually liked this story, and ending. However, I feel betrayed that they did nothing with this. The ending made some big promises, and the next game, we're a game designer... After that, just some random gamer. Don't tell me, Assassin's Creed 6, we'll be a QA tester? Or maybe a member of the marketing division! Don't set up this big, apocalyptic, cliff hanger of an ending, if you're not going to do anything with it.
the problem with that is it would be years of seeing how the emerging "free" country treated his people. kinda depressing if you ask me. AC is limited by actual history in some aspects and this is one of them
Loyd Ayo think they put themselves in corner story wise since they though native Americans as inferior so unless you do some alternate history its just going to be like that and true you could have connor travel to another place in the world but what would be the point of that assassins creed is not about clinging to 1 character (yes they did that with ezio but he was one of the best ones the made) so you might as well just create a new character at that rate
@@loydayo883 The early foundations of the US would be perfect for an emotionally-driven trilogy. Those moments of darkness is pretty unexplored in games.
I actually cussed the fuck outta juno after watching him die like that, and THEN her stepping over his over body. To this day I've never had such an outburst as I did that night. Face palmed for like 5 minutes.
I think that this ending is an amazing idea and a perfect way to end the series, However, the execution was absolutely awful. Ubisoft didn't hear that though so they decided to throw every thing away, ignore the cliffhanger at the end and screw anyone who had any interest in Desmond. How ironic that Ubisoft has now become Abstergo Industries, pumping out a game every year to make as much profit as possible while sacrificing their integrity.... Whew... That got out of hand.
It definitely is. Honestly, the entire ending is genius. I don't care what others say no one will ever ruin or change that fact in my eyes. It's a work of art.
Let's get something straight. Desmond's choice was not the problem here. It was either A. Let world die, rebuild it, but the world would eventually go back to being terrible, if not worse. or B. Let some pseudo-goddess with plans for world domination free, but leave hope that the Assassins can stop her. The first choice leads to billions dead and the second gives us a chance for victory. It's not that hard. No, the problem was that they kill off this character we've gotten to know over five games in a quick and unceremonious fashion. I don't know if they built up that Juno was evil (I just finished Brotherhood. I'm only here because I heard this ending was really bad and I was curious.), but even if they did, this was a terrible way for Desmond to go, with no one mourning his loss. Even if he wasn't the most interesting Assassin, he deserves more than what he got here.
Yeah they only build her evil level up in this game, nothing much else. I agree with you, I just wish they let you choose though, would've been cooler.
the whole arc with lucy, everything that was accomplished in 2, brotherhood and revelations, all of that feels desecrated due to this fucking shitty game. couldn't agree more
Choice A is the way to go tho. Assassins support Freedom and the choice to allow Humans to make their own decisions. Releasing Juno would kill that chance and likely result in Mankind being enslaved, nobody would be able to resist if they were made into almost robotic slaves. Yes, many people would die with Choice A...but at least Humanity would continue to exist and be free in doing so. Placing this 3rd game in America is such a big deal, because America was founded on "Give me Liberty, or Give me Death!" Freedom or Death was the key here, and the writers completely forgot that. They didnt just set AC3 in America because Red Jackets look cool on British Soldiers...they set it here knowing that the principles to which the US was founded on go hand in hand with the Assassin Order. They may as well have set it in the USSR and had Desmond be a Templar Sleeper Agent. Because this ending totally killed what the whole franchise was building up to. And every game after AC3 has been Templar Ideology Sympathy Stories, its like the company abandoned the Assassins and Freedom in favor of Templars and Authoritarianism.
***** so much lore, time, effort, amazing moments just for it to be brushed aside, what about eve? juno? the assassins? just randomly now you play in first person in the present times.
This ending would have been the best, if Desmond didnt fucking die AND INSTEAD, we fight against Juno with someone who has learned the ways of an Assassin for a number of games over these years. But no. Lets kill Desmond off. Fucking idiots.
Михаил Димитров Back in time like a puppy? Im sorry what? And forgive me, Assassins Creed had turned to crap these last years for me not care for the story
+Swaggination he was kind of boring and we felt least sorry for him. His grandfather Edward made a better likeable protagonist and his father Haytham was awesome for a Templar.

this is the end of a saga. i won't play ac anymore, since desmond is dead. they killed the main character, they killed the main plot. it is as if lara croft were killed and, nonetheless, tomb raider would still countinue to be produced! it's nonsense!
Yeah it's pretty shit that he died, and the worst thing is that he died in a shitty game like ac3 he deserved better. But I still think that you guys should try black flag!
Black flag isnt bad. I was on the same "New Assassins Creed sucks" wagon. I thought that Black Flag was garbage, then I played it. It is one of the best (of course after the first game and the ezio trilogy). The only bad part was the modern gameplay and being some fucktruck with an iPad rippoff. Edward gameplay-10/10, Fucktruck with chinese tablet gameplay- gave me cancer 0/10
Black Flag is only an Assassin's Creed game because the name was in the title. In terms of any kind of story it was hands down the worst in the series.
At first I thought the ending sucked. But after watching it again I think it's not that bad. Desmond didn't just get fooled, he entrusted mankind to find a way to deal with Juno while preventing the immediate end of the world. In a way he passed the torch to the next assassin, like his ancestors did.
Ubisoft were idiots for stopping the Juno storyline and finished it in a freaking comics. This is one of the reasons I did not buy Odyssey because the actual life storyline were just ‘gave up’ by Ubisoft and nothing does make sense now really, Juno was one of the reasons diehard AC fans including me were still playing hoping you could see her as the final boss or something since she was the main villain of the story all long and manipulated the Templar’s for her resurrection
Hoozah Abstergo was trying to resurrect her for six years (in our world I mean) And finally in June 2018 June was resurrected and stabbed to death by negro Assassin Badabums
@@dr.ambiguous4913 but than happen all over again. Meanwhile there is a chance people wont make the same tech as today no knowledge of the past or future
thats why she said "same cycle beginning over again". meaning all progress / lnowledge gained would be reset and lost in centuries of superstition. if i was desmond i wouldnt want that either lol
This ending was great, when I played I was like please don't end such a great series with a player choice ending where you survive or die to save the world. AC3 goes along with what Ezio and Altair fought for, at the end of their lives they were faced with more questions then answers. They believed over everything else that there was a way to attain peace. If the game didn't choose the ending for you, then assassins creed would have ended there. Desmond did what Altair, Ezio, or Connor would have done. They were not the ones to end the fight between Assassins and Templars, but they gave their lives so that mankind would have their own freedom.
***** ive played all of them, and the story is incredible, except rouge which i dont plan to because i cbf going back to last gen. i dont hate the games, but i do feel as if im getting bored of them. when ac3 ended i was so excited to see what would hapen in the next game, only to be disappointed and then the same with unity. my point is, i love the modern story of AC and i really want to know whats happening in the modern times. and the past 2 games have been barely about it. im just getting bored of always going back in history. im hoping in the future that they might go back to first civilisation history and find junos weakness or something because i wanna find out what the fuck junos doing
I don't get the hate for this ending, it ties up everything about Assassin Creed 1 through 3, the plan was to stop 2012 from happening, mission accomplished. Now from Assassin's Creed 4 through probably 6, the plan is to take out Juno before she conquers the world. I cannot wait until I get my hands on ACIV. If people are pissed about not being able to choose the ending, I bet most people would pick to save the world anyway. I'd rather pick the ending to save the world instead of the Earth pretty much resetting itself. This brings some possibilities, Juno is the new threat so odds are the Assassins & Templars will join forces, they have a common foe. I just hope Desmond is alive, usually when this kind of stuff happens, the main character comes back. Assassin's Creed centered around Desmond, killing off Desmond would be like if Nathan Drake was killed off in Uncharted or if Lara Croft was killed off in Tomb Raider. Even in ACIV, the Sample 17 Project(slight spoiler, you learn this when you 1st go back into present day) the memories are still Desmond's memories. Shows that anyone else's memories couldn't work for Assassin's Creed *unless* Ubisoft makes spin-offs which can definitely work.
***** I know that. But I wouldn't be surprised if Desmond is brought back because of a Piece Of Eden(throughout the AC franchise, there are many Pieces Of Eden, but in the games, we've only seen 2 of them), or Juno, or some other creation from the First Civilization. Its kinda weird that only Desmond's right hand was badly burned, but the rest of his body looked just fine. In that footage where Abstergo took Desmond's body, those First Civilization markings showed up. Not to mention, back in AC Brotherhood, Subject 16 mentioned that Desmond will have a son, and in the ending, before Juno made Desmond kill Lucy, she said something about 2 descendants, and that one of them wasn't there. In ACII, once you found all the symbols, they showed Subject 16's session with Adam & Eve. So Desmond must be the descendant of Adam, but Eve's descendant is unknown. So yeah, the 2 descendants thing hasn't been answered and Desmond must be a part of it.
TheGameKeeper94 I'm guessing you finished AC4 now, what did you think of it? In my opinion, I'm really dissapointed with what they did to the modern day segment. I liked Desmond's story a lot more, especially the atmosphere. It was always dark, the music was creepy, you felt like you were always on the verge of getting caught by Abstergo, and the feeling that the world was coming to an end (especially since 2012 was actually coming up in real life), it was great. I loved it, especially AC Brotherhood, that was one of my favorites. I'm really hoping Ubisoft does better with AC Unity, but honestly I think that they don't even know what they're doing anymore.
MaxPaynefan1 i like edward's story a lot more than connor's though, not to mention the caribbean is a lot more attractive. to be honest, i didn't really care much about the modern day part of ac4 at all. it just doesn't appeal to me and i often just hop back into the animus. guess they sacrificed the modern part to enhance the animus part.
Becuase it's a trick. How do you know that humanity is going to do that? How do you know that the world is going to be that way after you die? What, becuase some lady said so? Have you learned nothing from the first few games, that nothing is as it seems? Fate, destiny...none of that is real, becuase your own decisions can change it. Humanity could do the same, making the world a better place. You would forsake them that chance, and instead let them be enslaved? What's even funnier: that stone tablet that you saw that said heed these words or die a heretic; you're now just switching one prophet (Desmond) for another (Juno). Under Juno's rule, yes, now it will be 100% true that death and enslavement will follow. But Desmond gives a chance to break free of that path, and make the world a peaceful place. IMO - Abstergo just won without even trying, and you had no say in it at all.
Silly that they didn't immediately go back and collect his body. Then all the trouble they've been going through to find it in the past few games wouldn't be happening.
In a way, Desmond pulled a Templar move there. By freeing Minerva, he allowed a powerful figure to come to control the world as opposed to leaving the world to its fate. Humanity would have been free but in doing so would plunge into chaos. He chose order over freedom.
Lmclean89 Well, to my understanding, Option 1: Don't free Juno. Apocalypse comes. Much of world dies. Desmond survives. Desmond follows life story similar to Yeshua. Desmond succumbs to mortal death. Followers create oppressive religion based off of Desmond that creates oppression in the world once more, starting the world from scratch doomed to follow the same path as it did before. World is initially free, but falls into chaos. Option 2: Free Juno. Desmond dies. Juno is loosed upon the world. Apocalypse prevented. Juno now has control of the world. Control is implemented but order is established. Did I miss something there?
Option 1 also leads to order through oppressive control of the masses, anyone not in line with the religion's powers that be gets burned at the stake, killed and what not. How is that any different from Option 2? Real history is littered with numerous examples of how going against the state or any religious power results in doom for those up-risers. Desmond chose the lesser evil as per what he was led to believe.
+MSI GTX 970 3.5GB SLI what was ac 4 about litterally i play through what happened to the women that left to take over the world like wtf is happening in that game
Tunnel Rat Cuz it seems very hasted like they didn't really thought about it earlier. Minerva jumped from a box. I know they had to kill Desmond at some point but I don't also like that he's replaced by someone without personality or... anything for that matter. I know that I should focus more on the ancestors' story (which is still good if not better) but... well.
I agree. I stopped playing the series from this game onward because, to quote Ezio; "I have seen enough for one life, I have played my part." I wanted to be there when Desmond's story was done because of how much I loved the first 4 titles and, it went all Mass Effect 3 on us. Looking at Unity, yeah I'm glad I stopped here. XD
The hell kinda of ending is this... Desmond's dead ... Juno awakes to plot world takeover... I know Desmond saved the world and all but the way it ended he just dropped dead like he wasn't shit or something then they go and go back to connor as a precredits scene...he didnt even have any last memories flashbacks or anything while he was touch the spear. THe modern story felt rush like they just had to get this over with I thought they were supposed to be looking for this eve person.......Felt they killed Warren Vidic way too fast...AC4 modern story is actually worst.. some first person thing that was actually boring as hell to do with a repetitive puzzle mini games to unlock information...
Angelo de Wit Desmond is dead, and that conspiracy you're talking about is wrong. AC4 reveals that what 16 passed onto Desmond were his own memories and the ability to stay in the animus longer.
it was a complicated decision.. you watch the world end and rise up and become a god? giving the human race a false religion? false beliefs ? and we would never be advance if desmond choose the world to burn and start all over again.. but if you release juno.. the world will be spared yes. she might enslave the human race but in every chaos a hero will be born and rise and stop juno.
And this is where assassins creed went downhill they killed off Desmond and now they're stuck on what to do and who to make the main character. Ruined my favourite game.
5:54 I'm pretty sure many don't know that the phrase on the tomb of Achilles is a reference to the ACTUAL leader of the real-life Assassin's who was called "The old man of the mountain". That's a pretty cool detail!
well, I believe there is still other assassin groups out there, and if this is true then someone who is not directly related to Desmond could be reliving the memories of Edward Kenway because going that far back in time, the family tree has many many branches stemming from Edward. Meaning that numerous people may share the same ancestry as Desmond and could therefore be used to relive such memories
Dam this ending left me with my jaw dropped! Like dam I didn’t want poor Desmond to die and now the world is literally ending and the apocalypse is here. I need to find out what happens next! I wish Desmond didn’t have to die to save everyone though.
I thought I was an Assassin's Creed fan. I loved the Ezio trilogy, and played all three of his games multiple times. But I found AC III to be way too boring to even bother finishing, so here I am to watch the ending, and I'm so glad I'm not wasting anymore time on this game. It's gorgeous, and Connor is a beast as an Assassin, but the presentation and game mechanics just feel empty and shallow. Key parts of the history of the American Revolution, like the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Paul Revere's Ride felt underwhelming and insignificant to watch. I don't know, I just found the game to be mind-numbingly boring compared to the previous entries. Yet it's gotten such rave reviews. It literally - actually did - put me to sleep on my futon.
agreed I couldn't make it through III either didn't get anywhere near as far as you did, but I'm playing IV now and having a blast and I've gotten to the first video you recover in modern day and I felt I probably should at least watch the ending of III.
My theory is that Desmond isn't dead, he just made a dupe of himself like in the end of ac2 like Ezio does using the apple of Eden (which is in Desmond's bag) but when you see the video of the Templars taking Desmond's body away the apple wasn't in his bag! O_O! Reply with what you think of this theory.
Just finished the game and I really like the ending. I think the issue is that Desmond was "killed" off right when he was starting to develop some character. It was fitting for the series though that the fifth entry again tried to end on some crazy plot twist only for it to be thwarted by Minerva. Minerva represents the Templar way of thinking and Juno represents the Assassins the only difference is Juno doesn't care for the assassins. In the same way Connor couldn't save his people because of his loyalty to his creed neither could Desmond. He chose the path he had followed since he escaped Abstergo and it may lead to the end of humanity unless Layla can stop it. We'll find out in Valhalla
+Radfox That's the point. They are trying to say that it's a repeating thing, world is destroyed, messiah comes and brings people together, then their words are twisted after they are gone. world is destroyed again....
Ubernaught012 Yup, the writers of this story were trying to communicate to us some great knowledge. I love how stories always communicate to us great things like this :)
I recall having read that the portions of the game taking place in the present will focus on the new "Abstergo Entertainment" (as opposed to Abstergo Industries in the first game), where they have a developed a way with which to let any person experience the memories of any other person's ancestors using the animus. Supposedly we would be following a random person experiencing the genetic memory of Desmond, effectively experiencing Edward Kenway's memories for entertainment.
I'd rather have Desmond giving hope to the survivors than this crum butt ending. Honestly a cycle is better than being enslaved by God's it's why Adam and Eve stole a piece of Eden to get away from their slave lives. Wish their was a option to touch the orb or accept fate for what it is.
It makes me sad that 10 years ago, Devs had way more passion for more games like this. Now games are just shit money grabs. I should've appreciated the things we had :/
Just make a modern day game. I thought that was where desmond was gonna go. And they done fucked that up. Had to watch his end on youtube cuz Ass 3 is a fuckin trainwreck of mediocrity.
The prophecy depicts Desmond more like Moses than Jesus. Notice him growing out a beard and then the tablets, like the 10 commandments. Also, Moses came long before Christ. Judianity was the first major religion to ever be established and the bible (old testament) begins with the Hebrews.
Accidental238 While there is debate about that, no one disputes that Judianity came before Christianity. There are parts of the prophecy that point to Desmond becoming another "Moses" as well as another "Jesus". There's no reference to any Hinduism, so get lost.
The whole present day story of AC died with Desmond. Everything since has been a let down. However, the worlds or Origins, Unity, Odyssey, etc are truly amazing. The present day arc just hasn’t been as good.
This actually a well written ending. It would've too perfect if everything worked out in the end. What wasn't well written tho was Shawn, rebecca and his father's reactions. This was the last good AC game
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!! New mechanics like outdoor exploring and hunting were interesting. Naval wars was fun. I enjoyed the 1st part with Connors origins and conflict - but second half of game seems like they ran out of time and rushed it like hell. Story line is fragmented and rushed like hell >> What the fuck happened to Achilles??? One moment I see him sick in bed and after that nothing - just a glimpse at a tomb stone for a few seconds. They shit allover Desmond's story - ending his well built character in the course of 3 games abruptly and in the most superficial and rushed way possible. At the end when they find the amulets location they teleport to location and back - game does not let you explore the house - it would have been interesting seeing how that house looks after so many years or just the place in general if the house is not there anymore. Lots of bugs concerning climbing, fighting mechanics >> climbing those fuckin trees in the frontier is a real pain - its tedious and so unnatural and unresponsive; when liberating a fort everyone keeps attacking like stupid, AI is shit compared to other games in this series. There are so many things to do in cities but none attract me or have an impact whatsoever on the story. At one point all Juno's story seemed so interesting and justified and than the other had no logic - compared to the other games it had no mystery around it - it is not smart it is just straight forward and superficial. Connor kills his father and best friend but the emotion in that and implication of those actions is zero. General feeling is it has no depth. This had so much potential compared to how it came out. Hunting was interesting but so poorly executed. When I hunted the maneater bear I was hoping to find a different more threatening and cunning bear - instead I found just another round, brown fluffy bear which dies just like the rest of the bears I encountered. Hunting is fun but useless in the general scheme of the game. I could go on but it would be pointless - all feels rushed like hell and full of clunky mechanics. Looks like it was pushed out just to beat the iron while its hot and make some money - Looks like Ubisoft is turning into Abstergo itself. General philosohy of the game had so much potential - blending the differences between templars and assassins - of what is good and bad - about choosing and what it means to be human - but at one moment i felt like all this was going in a good direction and the other it just faded...into nothing. Music was good but not as original and epic as Ezio series. Looking forward to experiencing Black Flag...
It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 30, 2012, for Wii U on November 18, 2012, and for Microsoft Windows on November 20, 2012. The game takes place in the 1770s and is about the American War of Independence. The main characters of the game are Templar Haytham Kenway and his son Assassin Connor Kenway.
Since William didn't own the land and it was given to a fellow in New York by Congress. Why didn't Connor's "allies" step in and say it is owned the natives? Because they didn't fight for the natives. Some are slave owners or has massacred natives before, they don't care and was using him all the time. Connor being naive believed it was a fight for all, a place where all could be equal and live side by side. He finds out they traveled west, no more Merry English parts or labor for the people living in the frontiers. They are left to survive on their own.
I think the best you could hope for there is for him to be a ghost in the machine like Clay Kaczmarek was in Revelations. The files you get from hacking Abstergo computers in AC4 make it almost certain that he is dead.
***** The new guy could also be a clone of desmond because they clearly have linked ancestry and the files in abstergo state that they were able to replicate desmond's tissue when he died
I can't help bit see the potential of Desmond not touching it....imagine AC is now a dystopian future, and you must use the Animus to stop Templars from dominating the abbandonned world.
I’ll be honest, I enjoy playing all assassins creed games, but I have never felt satisfied by the credits 😅 Ubisoft tend to fuck up at the end of most of their games, just my opinion, I promise it’s not cannon
The sphere he touched was a two fold mechanism, it would release a lethal amount of radiation that would destroy his physical body, his mental self would then be sent into “The Gray” (artificial Isu afterlife) where he would swap out Juno allowing her to escape
Actually, Desmond's better off dead. People were complaining on his story for so long and so much that devs just got rid of him. Well... at least he did his part :P
I think they've done it in purpose well you're playing as assasin think they are bad in people's eye so i dont think it will end nice all assasin's creed game have bad ending(sorry for my english)
Angelo de Wit minor spoilers for beginning of Black Flag I hate to break it to you but abstergo finds his corpse and takes it apart so they can use his dna for their animuses

Say what you want about AC3, it was the last game where the series had a story to tell, and wasn't just "Which period of history can we milk the series with now?"
Who else thinks connor deserves a proper end to his story? he was only around 27 when ac3 ended they can easily make a game filling the final years.
the problem with that is it would be years of seeing how the emerging "free" country treated his people. kinda depressing if you ask me.

Let's get something straight. Desmond's choice was not the problem here. It was either
A. Let world die, rebuild it, but the world would eventually go back to being terrible, if not worse.
or
I agree with you, I just wish they let you choose though, would've been cooler.
the whole arc with lucy, everything that was accomplished in 2, brotherhood and revelations, all of that feels desecrated due to this fucking shitty game. couldn't agree more
It is revealed Desmond soul transferred in as being guardian tree.
Valhalla confirmed it.

People can say what they want about this game , but no one can deny that this was the last true Assassins Creed game.

AC4 and Rogue were still good but the modern day story was crap after Desmond died.
And this is where the franchise went to shit.
After this, yes.
Ac4 is awesome even better than 3
It went to shit after Black Flag actually, it was the last good AC game in my opinion
AC 1 - AC Black Flag is THE full series the rest is crap
Black Flag is only an Assassin's Creed game because the name was in the title. In terms of any kind of story it was hands down the worst in the series.

altair, ezio, and connor (rahtonokke) would be *pissed*
Don't forget Edward
It's Ratonhake:ton
I love how you butchered Connor's name lol
At first I thought the ending sucked. But after watching it again I think it's not that bad. Desmond didn't just get fooled, he entrusted mankind to find a way to deal with Juno while preventing the immediate end of the world.
In a way he passed the torch to the next assassin, like his ancestors did.
To this day, still looks kind of good for a game in 2012.
Hoozah Abstergo was trying to resurrect her for six years (in our world I mean)
And finally in June 2018 June was resurrected and stabbed to death by negro Assassin
Badabums
Whats crazy is that Juno's little warning of what would happen if Desmond survived the world ending event basically sums up all of today's religion.
Brian Justus Eh.. It kind of is. They did say the people would see desmond as some sort of god.
Brian Justus No, not the templars or assassin’s, just people in general. Juno literally says that people will see him as a god. It’s in the video

That's not crazy, that's what she was alluding directly to
This ending was great, when I played I was like please don't end such a great series with a player choice ending where you survive or die to save the world. They were not the ones to end the fight between Assassins and Templars, but they gave their lives so that mankind would have their own freedom.
and all the games went downhill from here
***** sorry but the past 2 games have done nothing for me

i dont hate the games, but i do feel as if im getting bored of them.
when ac3 ended i was so excited to see what would hapen in the next game, only to be disappointed and then the same with unity.
my point is, i love the modern story of AC and i really want to know whats happening in the modern times. and the past 2 games have been barely about it. im just getting bored of always going back in history. im hoping in the future that they might go back to first civilisation history and find junos weakness or something because i wanna find out what the fuck junos doing
SuperPogo17 you need to play ac rogue in order to understand what happens in unity and syndicate
Lmao the modern story was the worst thing about the AC series, and AC Black Flag is by far the best AC game.
***** So you play AC for Desmond? Doesn't make sense to me but I guess it's your opinion.
I hate that the rest of this story was forgotten. I'd love to get back to this story arc.
Nathan, not Francis
17:02 removing the hatchet
the series died with him
Silly that they didn't immediately go back and collect his body.
He was deceived... not like he meant it mate.
Lmclean89 What part of the outcome did he not already know besides it being painful?
Daniel Allen You clearly don't understand the options
Lmclean89
Well, to my understanding,
Option 1: Don't free Juno.
Assassin's Creed should have ended here.
A. M.M.B. What do you mean? The next game was arguably the best in the series and my personal second favorite with only AC2 above.

There are many reason's while I stopped playing AC after the third and this is one of them.
Why?
XD

Angelo de Wit no.. he's dead bro, sorry
Don't worry there is evidence in rogue that Desmond was thought to be dead but is still alive and somewhere in the world.
"No pain" she said. The guy just stood there getting electrocuted and roasted for half a minute
And this is where assassins creed went downhill they killed off Desmond and now they're stuck on what to do and who to make the main character. Ruined my favourite game.
I wish we got to see more of Connor
5:54 I'm pretty sure many don't know that the phrase on the tomb of Achilles is a reference to the ACTUAL leader of the real-life Assassin's who was called "The old man of the mountain".
That's a pretty cool detail!
Is there source to this?
well, I believe there is still other assassin groups out there, and if this is true then someone who is not directly related to Desmond could be reliving the memories of Edward Kenway because going that far back in time, the family tree has many many branches stemming from Edward. Meaning that numerous people may share the same ancestry as Desmond and could therefore be used to relive such memories
You're back,Desmond, after 8 years,finally.

RIP Master Assassins
That's exactly where I am and why I watched this.

Haha same!
A-Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, at this part of the country????
So I pretty much just wasted weeks put into this game just to Die at the end
Seems light.
This game is a legend
My theory is that Desmond isn't dead, he just made a dupe of himself like in the end of ac2 like Ezio does using the apple of Eden (which is in Desmond's bag) but when you see the video of the Templars taking Desmond's body away the apple wasn't in his bag! O_O!
Reply with what you think of this theory.
It could be possible that desmond somehow managed to clone him self and escape.
4 years later and still no ...
6 years later and still no..
I'm still hoping for this until today.
Well he still sort of exists, he is in the grey as the reader now with layla
I wanted to watch this before i play AC4
HA!dont waste your time of AC4,it doesnt mean much on the AC series, spoiler alert!

Basically what I think happened to Jesus.
+Radfox Only Desmond is objectively non-divine
+Radfox That's the point. They are trying to say that it's a repeating thing, world is destroyed, messiah comes and brings people together, then their words are twisted after they are gone. world is destroyed again....
Ubernaught012 Yup, the writers of this story were trying to communicate to us some great knowledge. I love how stories always communicate to us great things like this :)
Withamik yeah also those database things in ac brotherhood or in any ac games, helped me understand some historical things
Fuck you
Who is still here 2021
I recall having read that the portions of the game taking place in the present will focus on the new "Abstergo Entertainment" (as opposed to Abstergo Industries in the first game), where they have a developed a way with which to let any person experience the memories of any other person's ancestors using the animus. Supposedly we would be following a random person experiencing the genetic memory of Desmond, effectively experiencing Edward Kenway's memories for entertainment.
15:53 the epilogue starts and I love the music
It was better if you decided
I'd rather have Desmond giving hope to the survivors than this crum butt ending. Honestly a cycle is better than being enslaved by God's it's why Adam and Eve stole a piece of Eden to get away from their slave lives. Wish their was a option to touch the orb or accept fate for what it is.
Do i seriously have to wait until the fkn text ends
yea do I wait cause I been waiting
Ibrahim Chahrour yeah Ubisoft decided to make the Credits unskippable and it is like 20 minutes or so
Juno or Minerva didn't say that he would die by touching the spark... He just swapped places with Juno... Now he dwells within these walls.....
It makes me sad that 10 years ago, Devs had way more passion for more games like this. Now games are just shit money grabs. I should've appreciated the things we had :/
I was sure things were going to continue to be great and more. But man it’s been 30/50 hit and miss nowadays.
You know what would've been an awesome ending? After Desmond died and and Juno walked out; it showed someone wake up from an atimus
With Desmound Miles dead going to the present in black flag and rogue is completely pointless.
To be fair. Black Flag's modern day was actually pretty good. They fucked it in later sequels.
That's actually bulls hit because Hinduism is the oldest major religion
Accidental238 While there is debate about that, no one disputes that Judianity came before Christianity. There are parts of the prophecy that point to Desmond becoming another "Moses" as well as another "Jesus". There's no reference to any Hinduism, so get lost.
Yeah Hinduism is the oldest religion
I love the line about how what was once written to encourage life will be used to justify taking it. So true in many aspects of life.
Black Flag was good , Unity was good
Unity’s story was dreadful
Desmond : "I'm not a prophet I'm a simple human"
Lots of bugs concerning climbing, fighting mechanics >> climbing those fuckin trees in the frontier is a real pain - its tedious and so unnatural and unresponsive;
when liberating a fort everyone keeps attacking like stupid, AI is shit compared to other games in this series.
Actually if you complete all of the homestead missions it shows Achilles funeral.
Yeah, so fucking pathetic way to end Desmond's storyline.
2018 anyone?
i am
Me lol I never realized how old this game was how bout u?
@@xxtripleboixxtheone4202 yes
2019 over here. Still disappointed the plot was unceremoniously dropped.
i think somehow desmond will come back
I think the best you could hope for there is for him to be a ghost in the machine like Clay Kaczmarek was in Revelations. The files you get from hacking Abstergo computers in AC4 make it almost certain that he is dead.
***** The new guy could also be a clone of desmond because they clearly have linked ancestry and the files in abstergo state that they were able to replicate desmond's tissue when he died
nah i doubt hes a clone because wouldve been a bit weird when hacking the computers seeing that he is like aberstgo most wanted
***** the Apple theory states that Desmond made that decoy in order to fool the Templars and Juno, you can see gold markings when the video freezes
Daniel Franco And red mark stating that clone died
This is the real ending of Assassin's Creed for me. Im gonna pretend the following endless abomination sequels never came out
I can't help bit see the potential of Desmond not touching it....imagine AC is now a dystopian future, and you must use the Animus to stop Templars from dominating the abbandonned world.
+Shieldsy Gaming I can see there being potential. But I do not like the ideas of close to 7 billion being dead.
It’s good to go back and see the memories
I cried at the ending :(
this game had a shit ending, but a sick ass soundtrack
This ending is mindblowing
I’ll be honest, I enjoy playing all assassins creed games, but I have never felt satisfied by the credits 😅 Ubisoft tend to fuck up at the end of most of their games, just my opinion, I promise it’s not cannon
The sphere he touched was a two fold mechanism, it would release a lethal amount of radiation that would destroy his physical body, his mental self would then be sent into “The Gray” (artificial Isu afterlife) where he would swap out Juno allowing her to escape
@K.O.G.Fanstarks1610 no, everyone knew this for ages before AC Valhalla came out
@K.O.G.Fanstarks1610 I did
The ending confused me and pissed me off aswell
the scriptwriters were lazy as fuck on the ending lol
they should've come up with something brilliant like inception's ending
Actually, Desmond's better off dead. People were complaining on his story for so long and so much that devs just got rid of him. Well... at least he did his part :P
Mr Reese Umm... You do know about Sample 17, right?
I think they've done it in purpose well you're playing as assasin think they are bad in people's eye so i dont think it will end nice all assasin's creed game have bad ending(sorry for my english)
Dexter Morgan It's funny to see Dexter Morgan appear on another 'bad ending' series
This ending was mind blowing mate.
Every single fucking AC ending is a shitty cliffhanger. I mean, for fucks sake!
Ac2 pissed me off..... At first.... But this one isent a cliffhanger because he isent even dead lmao.
AC 4 wasn't
mrprotoman145 it kinda was
i still think desmond lives
Angelo de Wit minor spoilers for beginning of Black Flag
I hate to break it to you but abstergo finds his corpse and takes it apart so they can use his dna for their animuses
Anyone here in May 2024?
The solar storms are hitting the planet, nothing catastrophic happening yet but its still ongoing. Hopefully we'll be alright. ~Modern day Assassin~
Say what you want about AC3, it was the last game where the series had a story to tell, and wasn't just "Which period of history can we milk the series with now?"
