      Ezio was not only the greatest assassin and most skilled swordsman under the sun, he was significantly more, a representation of hope that was long lost in a world full of corruption. With his blade, one by one, he cut from the source of this corruption until it was all gone. He made Italy a better country and proceeded to do that with Constantinople as well. He mentored countless men and women who fought for what was right and sacrificed themselves for the greater good. After that man died the assassin order was not the same. He is the only one who caught a true glimpse of why the assassin order exists and what it means to be a member of the brotherhood. He died as a legendary assassin even to the very end and his last lesson mentored another instrument of justice and righteousness! His story was the best thing in the assassin's creed series and the only reason we continue playing it, hoping that one day they will create another good story like this of an even greater assassin.
      Skill and virtue can create legends, yet we mourn this parting with our beloved mentor and brother and hope that he will receive the glory he deserves in the heavens!
      Rest in peace, Ezio!

      I think it's remarkable that he walked away when he did and still had a life to live outside of the Assassins. I think Ezio realized that he would never fully understand his role in the First Civilization's grand scheme and that if he kept searching for answers he'd die most likely not knowing much more than when he started. So instead he walked away, he felt content that he contributed enough for both his present and the future and decided to live his remaining years living happily with the people who loved him.

      He doesn’t have to run and fight like he once was but to smart enough and strong enough to take a hit and keep fighting.

    I think one big reason why so many AC fans are connected to Ezio is because they experience up to 3 games, watch Ezio growing from a vengeful young assassin to a wise Grand Master, and we too feel we are growing along. I don't know why Ubisoft won't make another triology and instead introduces new main every single game. None of us understand them enough, and we all look back to whom we know best, Ezio and Desmond.

      quang anh nguyen tien I still think they should reopen the series with Desmond. I mean, they have a god damn opening to continue it! His data was saved. Meaning he could still be alive, in the system, just as Juno was. Why can't they just use it? That would be bomb as shit. Seeing Desmond command a new assassin, talk to them, just as Juno did. But to save humanity. And to stop her evil deeds. He'll, we haven't even really seen the bitch since.

    • @WhiskeyTango76s
      @WhiskeyTango76s 7 років тому +34

      I think it's because Ezio was just an amazing character. I felt a connection to him the first time I played AC2 and he still would've been my favorite even if he didn't get a trilogy. Him and Edward are my favorite (I cared nothing for the others really) but it seems like Origins protag may end up being up there too

    • @qanh96
      @qanh96 7 років тому +13

      I think it's time Desmond rest. I don't hate it that Ubisoft ended his life. Rather that, than having him live for too long and watch his story being milked the crap out of. I think we deserve another main from his bloodline, or others', and get more than 2 games to connect

    • @qanh96
      @qanh96 7 років тому +6

      Regarding Edward I have mixed feeling. I thought it's a great gaming character with well-developed personality, but I don't think he's a good AC main. AC has always been about stealth, patience and subtlety, and Edward is just too flamboyant. Then again, I'm a conservative when it comes to gaming plot, and those who love changing a game's nature will probably love Kenway and Jacob Frye.

    The final scene with Ezio I feel should be explained. The man who sat and spoke to Ezio, was a Templar, sent to assassinate Ezio. However, seeing the condition Ezio was in, he chose to start a conversation rather than kill him. When he grabs Ezio’s wrist, it’s to prevent him from using the hidden blade. He did not poison or attack him, he simply held back the hidden blade. He knows Ezio will likely die soon, which is why he says, “get some rest,” and then leaving Ezio, allowing him to die in peace.

    18:35-19:00 and 19:24-19:28, I'm no doctor, but here is my diagnosis of Ezio's death.
    Ezio suddenly began to cough and wince in pain which indicates he has suffered Myocardial Infarction, he later was clearly was clutching his chest, which is a clear indicator of Angina; which is pain in the chest caused by increasing strain on the heart due to hypertension to deal with the increased blockage of his blood vessels. He was also breathing heavily which would also indicate he was struggling to get air into his lungs due to shortness of breath. I also noticed that his face was contorted into a shape of pain which clearly shows another sign of angina a bit also with his demeanor altered now shows he was likely confused or dazed. This could point to his failing heart. When he finally died it was sudden and without warning.
    From all this evidence I say Ezio Auditore suffered from myocardial Infarction which was due to a blockage in his Coronary Artery. The shock from the sudden loss of blood flow and nutrients to his heart caused it to lose it's rhythm, and ultimately caused Ezio to fall unconcious as he went into Cardiac arrest. With the lack of medical knowledge to help save his life, all the bystanders could do was watch as Ezio died. So in conclusion Ezio died at the age of 65 from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) due to myocardial infarction.
    *The common name for Myocardial Infarction is a Heart Attack.*

    I don’t usually comment, but I wanted to put this out there. Ezio is one of the best designed characters of all time, we’re with him from his birth, to his death, and get to see him age, mature, and grow wise through our time with him. I mean, we're probably biased to that idea because we got to see him grow up. We experienced betrayal, hardship, and more... romantic problems. Having the love of his life die in his arms, but she forgave him. She loved him, even though he was distant for so long. And he thought of nothing but her. Whenever he got a chance, he'd find her. And when Alberto ruthlessly killed his family, he thought of nothing but revenge. And he got it, and learned to move on. Killing these people might make him feel better, knowing that they're dead, but ultimately, it wouldn't matter. The past is in the past, and once we realize that and move on, we can accomplish virtually anything. And Ezio understood that.

    "When I was a young man, I had liberty, but I did not see it. I had time, but I did not know it. And I had love, but I did not feel it. Many decades would pass before I understood the meaning of all three. And now, the twilight of my life, this understanding has passed into contentment.
    Love, liberty, and time: once so disposable, are the fuels that drive me forward. And love, most especially, mio caro. For you, our children, our brothers and sisters. And for the vast and wonderful world that gave us life, and keeps us guessing. Endless affection, mia Sofia.
    Forever yours,
    Ezio Auditore."
    Now living in a cozy Tuscan Villa with his wife and their two children, Ezio spends his time enjoying the company of family, old friends, and cultivating his vineyards. The life of this former Assassin Mentor will not stay quiet for long.
    One day, a mysterious Assassin shows up at Ezio's door quite unexpectedly, begging for Ezio's aid.
    Will this old Assassin's fire die out before he can save the ones he loves, or will it burn brightly one last time?
    In the year 1524, the former Assassin Ezio Auditore had retired to a villa in the countryside of Tuscany, with his wife Sofia and children Marcello and Flavia. While Ezio wrote in his study, Sofia asked him to watch Flavia while she and Marcello visited his sister Claudia. Shortly after, he left his study to tend their vineyards while Flavia played nearby the villa. In the midst of his harvest, he saw a stranger cloaked in black talking to Flavia. Fearing the worst, Ezio hurriedly intercepted the stranger, though Flavia told him that she was no danger, as Ezio saw her necklace with the Assassin insignia.
    Ezio Auditore passed away where he sat at the age of 65. Left behind by him in his study was a letter addressed to Sofia.

    This is why Ezio was everyones favorite, we knew him over a span of 3 games, starting from him exiting the womb of his mother, to hearing his last breath in this short film. I had once thought Edward was my favorite, but ever since ive seen this I changed my mind. (19:08 was heartbreaking, hearing his last breath) I also really like Ezio because of his race, Italian. I am part Italian and I just enjoy that little fact. That's another reason I keep replaying the "Ezio trilogy" because we know they die because in present day it is 5 centuries later and we just cant get over the fact he died. So far the rest of them have only had 1 game to show their story (maybe a cameo), which is kinda disappointing since they could clearly see how good a reception Ezio had. I REALLY wanted to see more of Connor (even if he was disliked), just something about the whole half British/Native American thing I liked...

      @@venriskanu9751 i feel like Haytham was a potential great character, he had the right charm, the right voice, the right look, the right wit, but Ubisoft thought Connor and Shay were more deserving of a game than him which shows a lot about Ubisoft nowadays, they know Ezio was a work of art and even though they tried to replicate his funny persona in Odyssey with the greek dude, it's not the same not even close. It was the subtle things that made us love Ezio, him shouting to his uncle saying he liked the architect because he called him Ser Ezio, or the giggle he made when he threw caterina sforza to the haystack. Also the other characters around Ezio were also great, Da Vinci for example was awesome. I think Ubi knows the recipe to do another great character, but it seems they rather waste time on other things that they think are more important. I played AC2 the other day and Odyssey, and sure gameplay wise Odyssey has a lot more mechanics and cool stuff to do, but an evening playing with Ezio Auditore da Firenze beats any mechanic or cool graphic capability Ubi focus on these days

    This is why Ezio is largely the favorite of the AC protagonists, his life was filled with such adventure, trials, hardship, and above all camaraderie from start to finish. No other Assassin in canon has had as much time and care put into his/her character, especially to the point where we've known them literally their entire life (the highs and lows anyway). In addition to being the most fleshed out and charismatic, he may well be the wisest if not just behind Altair. The original AC may have introduced us to the franchise, but Ezio's story is what really put it on the map. R.I.P. Ezio Auditore...

    • @CyrussNP
      @CyrussNP 9 років тому +14

      Yes definitely the best and most realized Assassin in the franchise.

    • @Justmyhandle
      @Justmyhandle 9 років тому +12

      Arthur Magalhaes Yep, definitely. I'd have to say, my second favorite protagonist (even if he's not an official Assassin most of the game) is Edward Kenway. He just has a certain charisma about him, and the Caribbean was arguably the most diverse of the games' settings so far. Unlike most entries, which take place in large but singular locations (Even Paris, beautiful as it was, was one city), AC IV & Rogue gave us whole islands and parts of the ocean to explore. And no one who remotely likes pirates can deny that the naval features were awesome.

    • @Justmyhandle
      @Justmyhandle 9 років тому +4

      Arthur Magalhaes It'd be nice if they created a larger scale "Pirates of the Caribbean" style open world game or MMO that used AC IV's naval mechanics while expanding on the pirate lore and allowing us to create and customize our own character. That'd be epic, especially if they included supernatural enemies and sea monsters (Kraken please). I've seen trailers for Sea of Thieves since it premiered at E3, but it doesn't look so far to be embracing these concepts well. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

    • @Justmyhandle
      @Justmyhandle 9 років тому

      Arthur Magalhaes Okay, then just single player with co-op. I know MMO's can be tricky to pull off with large scale concepts that aren't implemented well (Cough, ESO).

    • @Justmyhandle
      @Justmyhandle 9 років тому +1

      Arthur Magalhaes What do you think about the idea of STD's (given the time period)? You could catch various diseases from doing certain activities, especially with uncertain looking characters like prostitutes. Most of these won't kill you but would affect you in negative ways, similar to Skyrim. However, you could also find ways of healing yourself: drugs, voodoo, rare medicinal ingredients found by killing sea monsters or certain supernatural enemies, etc. Since it's a game taking creative liberties with pirate history, it would still make sense in context of the game world's lore.

    My interpretation of the man on the bench:
    I don't think anyone can argue that he isn't a Templar or a Templar-in-training. He has the symbol on his vambrace, painted in red. Not only that, but I think Ezio sees the symbol before he sits down next to him. It is, after all, right in his line of view. That's probably why Ezio's face shows concern the moment he takes a seat.
    Now, if we look at the man, we see he's almost a mirror image of Ezio, with obvious similarities. They both have a scar on their mouth, but it's on opposite sides. They both have the same eye colour. They both have the same indented cheeks. They're even the exact same height. This means that the man, similar to Ezio in his youth, is, in a sense, Templar Ezio. What Ezio _could_ have become at one point. In essence, he represents the never-ending conflict between the Assassins and Templars, as well as Ezio's inner turmoil, because to him there are only Assassin's and Templars. He has no chance to live an ordinary life, nor does anyone who gets involved with the centuries old war. It's almost heartbreaking, really, because despite everything Ezio's done, the Templars are still a force to be reckoned with, and they never stopped hunting him.
    Now listen to the conversation. The mysterious man says he hates Firenze, and that he'd rather be in Rome, where the women are like "grapes in a fine wine". Ezio owns a grape farm, but as he tells Shao Jun, the grapes aren't ripe yet. This leads me to believe that the man knows where Ezio lives, but he's also saying, in a round about way, that he has no interest in his wife and daughter. They're not "ripe", they're _not_ his targets.
    Ezio doesn't quite understand, but recognises that the man is a Templar. He says, "I don't think Firenze is your problem." This is definitely where his heart attack hits, but if you look closely, you can see he leans towards his blade, as if to say, "I'M your problem." Whether he's reaching for it or simply keeling over is certainly open to interpretation, but it makes the next part more sensible.
    The man stops Ezio and says, "Courage, old man." With this small gesture, he indicates that they don't have to fight. To me, this scene really stings, because it shows that Ezio has been fighting for so long it's become his default. He seems shocked when the man smiles and nods to him. I think he knew Ezio was sick. I think he'd been observing him and waiting for the right moment to strike, but he didn't want to do it callously. After all, Templars and Assassins ultimately want the same thing: peace. Not all of them are wicked and soulless.
    Just before the man leaves, you can hear a metallic sound as he puts his hand on Ezio's shoulder. I replayed it a few times with the volume maxed, and it kind of sounds like a puncture. He tells Ezio to rest, almost like "requiescant in pace", and walks away. I think he might have injected Ezio with a fast-acting poison, which explains why Ezio's pain suddenly vanished. Heart attacks are extremely painful and don't normally kill someone that quickly, but right after the man leaves, Ezio smiles to his family and slips away on the bench. In his final speech, addressed to his wife, he doesn't reveal anything about the Assassins, so we can rest assured they'll be safe. All his life and all throughout the episode that's what he feared, that his past would come back to haunt him.
    But in this final moment, we see that the Templars will leave his family in peace.

      I don’t see a Templar insignia on his vambrace but seeing that he only has one on what I assume is his dominant hand makes me think that he definitely has a hidden blade. To my knowledge the only time we see a Templar with a hidden blade is during AC Black Flag and that was only because a Templar was taking them from dead assassins as trophies. So the weapon must be exclusively used by Assassins. I want to believe that he somehow killed Ezio just because of how he was acting but I just don’t see how he could have done it or really why. I think e he was A hallucination by Ezio showing how Ezio viewed his younger self
