    As much as I enjoyed your previous content of equipment testing, I’ve gone back to 10 year old irons, an ancient putter and hybrids that are several releases in the rear view. Equipment (newer or older) simply does not improve my scores. That’s just fact after playing since 1988. I’m on a mission to hit better shots. Period. THIS is the stuff I love from you Ian. Thx for opening up to go beyond just the latest driver release. I’m in.

    This is a great way of practicing a fundamental part of golf. Hitting out of the middle of your clubs more often is huge. I always come back to this in my net in my back yard.

    Off to buy some foot powder! Here's hoping that next video will talk about the most common causes, such as too close to the ball, of the different strike points (eg, toe, heel, etc..) what are some probable adjustments to correct the off center strikes.

    Excellent content so far, Ian - really appreciate the depth and clear explanations you give. Arguably the best out there in UA-cam golf.
    If you could give more tips on what to think about when you’re encountered with specific shots (ie approach into well protected tiered or sloped green with bunkers - think tough greens out in East Lothian, Scotland; or, under tree branches; or, chipping over a bunker).
    I know other channels take this on but the audience might see benefit from your input depth.

    For what it’s worth, you can use a soft ball such as supersoft instead of spray. For some reason the soft ones or cover will leave a faint imprint on the face. Wipe clean and hit again. I also think club face will affect where you hit the ball. In other words, a swing that would have been dead center contact square will be slightly heal if face left open a bit for example

    Been following you from Day 1 with TXG Ian. Love everything you have done. My thoughts on content...
    I am a low hdcp player at 0-2 index, I absolutely love the technical videos in regards to equipment and shafts. I do like generic drill videos, like this one, that can give some tips/drills to fix common swing flaws. What I find difficult to follow are personal lessons for you, or anyone. Your swing flaws are yours, and the uber personalized lessons for you are not really relevant to me and I find them difficult to get value out of those. Playing videos are always welcome :) Best of luck with the channel.

    Love the content and can't wait for more. I use the foot spray at random times and i really does help. I have not so much an issue hitting the center, my biggest issue is getting the club face square at impact. That's a vid I would be very interest in finding ways to be more consistent getting the club face squared.

    Great video, there has been a lot of talk lately regarding the perfect strike location. Some have said that the correct location starts just above the 1st groove and use Tiger Woods wear pattern as proof of that, thoughts?

    Loving the new channel and content so far has been spot on. I would have liked to hear maybe more ways besides intent on moving the strike impact. As in lie angles possibly? Just a thought. Also, a big one is I am a big fan of slower swing speed stuff like reviews of clubs but not at crazy high club head speed only. Lower speeds middle speeds & high.

  • @johnatchley9754

    I have used Dr. School’s foot powder for at least 4 or 5 years. I have been playing traditional forged blades for years even though at hdcp 16-17 I’m not considered to have the repetitive skill to use them. It was part ego, part playing what I had, and part the seductive beauty of the design. I always said using those irons forces you to work harder on perfect contact, to develop skill, which is a good thing. And when you do strike those irons in the sweet spot, the reward is worth it. And if the foot powder shows you made 3 or 4 or even 5 strikes within a footprint smaller than 1 and a quarter the diameter of a ball, sheer pleasure.

    • @shaneh8168
      @shaneh8168 16 днів тому

      I do the same thing. Recently purchased the Foreward Golf irons use the foot spray daily to practice and see where my path is relative to strike location. For me personally my in to out swings are toe area and out to in heel. When either side gets too extreme I know to start making adjustments. Would love to see Ian try this fitting process and review the Foreward Irons!!!!

    You will forever struggle with contact due to your high finish. Stop the video 11:24 and the shaft is exiting your ear. Nearly all tour players exit below their left shoulder for a right handed player. Hitting up excessively as you do also contributes to mishits. I think you'd benefit greatly from Andy plummer and stack and tilt instruction.
