I’m liking this one! I’ll start using this every time I use the sim now. I’ve got ball position issues of getting too forward. I need some alignment sticks.
Got to say, I appreciate how you communicate! So many UA-cam golf channels give generic advice that doesn’t work for everyone, I like how you consistently specify how these tips apply to you, and by extension, the application to me the viewer. Great content, great communication. And oh, love the intro graphic!
Very interesting. As someone who struggles with low strike point on their driver and super low launch this is very interesting. Will definitely be more aware of ball positioning and basic pure fundamentals seems that's where the lapse might be for me trying to many wacky things instead of just setting it up on the left toe and not leaning back so much at address
Really need to spend time on this. Biggest issue in the game right now is chunky and thin strikes, more than likely due to ball position. I tend to play everything a little further back than what is typically recommended, but don't have any issue with launch and hitting it high, just need to be more particular with having it consistently in the same spot. Great video man, loving the new channel
This is literally one of the best channels out there. I keep learning more and more each time. I love how you break things down for even those like me, 5 years into the game at 56 years old and still trying to get better. I really feel they way it's explained is technical and at the same time simplified. Thank you Ian for all you do and look forward to the next content.
This content is class wee man!!!! Exactly what I need to see once in a while to keep me on track… I often get confused with hand position in relation to ball position with driver skill use you as my bench mark now!!!😊
Ian, I have been a follower and fan for many years. Your love and devotion to the game along with your vast knowledge and humility to improve others and yourself is inspiring. Your channel is going to grow by leaps and bounds with the types(s) of content your are bringing.
This is the best explanation of ball position. It’s consistent with others, but explaining the expected effect and then showing it with just one or two numbers really helps. It helps explain why some wonderful strikes don’t behave how I expected. Small margins can have a meaningful outcome change.
Brilliant! Packed with valuable information. Looking to improve my golf fundamentals and consistency in the swing. Lots of insights to implement in the offseason training/practice. Thank you.
Well done. Change is hard and shout out to you for running with something new. I’ve really benefited from your knowledge of equipment and looking forward to seeing what comes. Thanks for helping someone that looks and swings like Donkey Kong get better and a sport we all love.
imo the best video yet on Ian's new channel. Having watched Ian for a while, I'd be interested to hear more about the logic in his setup routine. Specifically how he takes the grip during address as that seems especially purposeful.
Great video Ian. You’re starting to get into a new groove. Gonna put these tips into practice later today. My shaft lean and AoA has been inconsistent the past couple weeks.
I’m with ya on struggling with strike height on the big dog. Some days I’ll be swinging 4-5° up and thinning it and spinning it up over 3 bands and other days I’ll be swinging closer to 0° AoA and I’ll struggle to spin it over 1500 and I’ll get that uncontrollable curvature. For me though, that thin high spin ball is MUCH better on the golf course.
Brilliant video Ian. I think my P-7i have been too far forward and I’ve been launching too high and losing distance, getting killed in the wind. So will definitely be giving this a go tomorrow
Great content as usual. Was that a BB shaft in your driver?? Looks like you keep changing your shaft this off season... :) I love that shaft, use it in my driver and fairway woods after your previous review on it. Looked like Justin Rose was playing it on Tuesday night also...
Ian, can you address alignment? I struggle badly after a lot of lessons, from different pros and I'm curious if there is something we miss. Is it something some of us can't get? Really love to know.
Ian sounds like someone who would benefit from a 2Hybrid rather than a 5wood, that way he doesn't have to sweep it and can hit a shot more similar to his 4 iron but can still get the height and spin to stop it as well as the distance
I am a strong believer that ball position (as well as AoA, shaft lean, closeness to the ball, which influences the swing plane and thus Path) is the lowest-hanging fruits that amateur should consider in managing their shot shape. Swing Direction and consequently Club Path is pretty consistent for every golfer, regardless of handicap. Whilst I agree 80% what has been said, I do want to challenge Ian on being neutral for FW. The inconsistency in those few shots should the unpredictability and difficulty in trying to get a Zero AoA. If anything else, a -1~-2 AoA for anything off the deck should control strike point, compression and thus dispersion much better and hitting up with AoA in positive angle IS DEFINITELY A NO-NO!
Excellent reminders. The little things we forget in the winter time off.

Great little tip on concentrating on the ball position rather than the club position
Really liking the new content Ian, very informative and something that I keep working on.
Thanks Alexander!! 👍🏼

Dude....your swing is so on point in this video 🙌

Thanks for the info gives me something to work on during practice!!
This was absolutely outstanding and you really covered the fine points in an understandable manner.
Thanks Jim.
Lots of good nuggets in here. I'll definitely be coming back and referring to this video again. Great job, team!
👍🏼
love the new channel looking forward to some content geared toward fitness. Especially for us seniors.
Cheers from Norcal

New content and concepts for me. Thank you for the clear and useful explanation. Now if I could only get out to the range this winter ;)
Love the channel and the content. Looking forward to the rest of the "Pillars" 👍👍

Would any of the long irons/fairway woods differ off the tee for ball positioning purposes?

Good stuff. Thanks
What mat insert is that?
I would love an explanation of driver swing. I can’t stop delofting the driver. Whenever I try, it becomes a snap hook. 2.3 handicap.

What’s your stock tee height?
I currently tee it fairly low. I’d like to work on teeing it higher over time.
What brand of alignment sticks are they?
They are from Titleist.
🐐

I’ve gravitated more towards a two hybrid over the years but as my swing has gotten better i don’t spin it nearly as much.
