I'm building up to black Friday to buy a steam deck. I am an indie player 90% of the time and decided this is a good time to get the base model Steam deck hoping on a sale. For the higher end, I use my PC. Right now, if I want to game, I need something that's short gaming sessions because I have a baby.
I watched dozens of videos before my late purchase of the steam deck! After HOURS of informing myself on valve’s LCD and OLED, if you can afford one and want one go aheaf dont wait
6:22 Steam Deck got me into PC gaming. Then got a gaming laptop. Was a console gamer since the 80’s. I’ll never go back. Steam Deck and Valve changed my whole perspective on gaming and what’s possible on open hardware.
I will be waiting for a steam machine like device. Something powerful with Steam OS to play games on a 4K TV. That or a Steam Deck 2 with some kind of dock that improves performance. Meanwhile I'm beyond happy with my Steam Deck Oled.
@@desertfroggo2502 Yes and no. I want the docked Steam Deck experience but with power. Shaped like a console or tv box, already built and configured, ready to play games out of the box, offered at a competitive price, constantly receiving software updates and support by Valve.
I don't think this mentioned enough but the Steamdecks OLED screen and streaming capability makes this more future proof than other handhelds. HDR moonlight and Chiaki streaming and streaming advancement increases the longevity of this device and future proofs hardware deficiencies
The reason IPhone releases every year is manageable is cause companies like T-Mobile and Verizon have monthly installments to pay it off….if Valve did year Steam Deck releases would be terrible business for them I think cause they would be like $700 or more and that would be crazy lol
I hate yearly cadence! So valve is getting my full respect. I have the top ldc version, and got it 3 months after realease and love it. Using an external monitor on a mic arm, wooting he keyboard and mx ergo for playing at home in bed when i dont feel like sitting at my pc. Also when on-the-go i like the device and felt like the oled version wasn't worth the upgrade for me. But when the SD 2 comes out, I will be getting it 😊
My main games lately have been helldivers 2 sm2 and wukong and they all run good on deck Im coming from Nintendo switch so top graphic settings aren't a worry to me lol
Space Marines wants to be Steam Deck ready by the end of the year. I think most games can run on it, it's just these games are getting kind of insane. I don't need 8k on any set up.
If Valve could make a Steam Deck Mini OLED that would destroy all these retro handhelds. If they could make it a 720p 5" screen with just one track pad that would be awesome.
MST3K and Rifftrax enthusiast here... I know my fair share of horror movies. Major ones, cult-classics, cinemageddon movies, d-list. I think we can be friends and I am updating my steam deck at the moment.
My tactic is to play my backlog of older games. While my wishlist with newer games are on hold so I can play those for a lower price when the steamdeck 2 comes out and is able to play those games. 😉 lots to do still so they don’t have to rush
Right now, they have the new Ryzen AI 9 APUs out in the market which has promising performance since the iGPU is similar in performance to the RTX 2050 so Valve might have a custom APU again which the iGPU could perform similar to like the GTX 1650 but with a sight better performance and i do hope they keep the system at 800p because if the iGPU is better than what we have now then at 800p we would be able to play games at a higher setting.
I use VRR all the time when I Dock the Deck, my monitor has VRR support and I run Bazzite, which also has VRR support, but my monitor can only use VRR between 60 - 165Hz, so if a game runs slower than 60, it doesnt work
I say it every chance I get: I would instantly buy a Steam Console. The Deck has succeeded in getting me off Windows. It just needs more power to run bigger displays. I am typing this comment from a docked Steam Deck in desktop mode right now, and the experience is excellent. There must be a large demographic of PC Gamers who only use their computer for gaming. How many of these people are tired of Windows' adversarial design, and ready for a new gaming OS?
I don't wanna see aim assist at all, I wanna see gyro/flick stick (look at Splatoon, there's no aim assist at all), and I don't mind being mixed in with KB+M players. It might be rough at first but I think there's potential for a pretty level playing field.
Now I know I'm in the minority here but it puts me in a weird place. I'm a lifelong gamer and for four years a truck driver I love my OLED steam deck and I would buy one every year even at more than $600 and I don't care about battery life cuz I'm right by my charger all the time. I do wish it could handle dragon's dogma and space Marine and the reason I don't have an ally or anything else is because I despise windows and I'm a big fan of steam. But I don't get why there's drama even if they did that yearly release. The simple fact is no one forces you to upgrade your computer LOL this is no different.
@@mikejay8888 that’s what everyone obviously does but I don’t want to do that. I want a sim so I can just pay for faster speeds when I’m on the road or on vacation
I'd rather see you do controversial topics like Endymion than do a movie channel. All the best on it, but less and less people care about modern movies when you have huge talk shows like Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Shawn Ryan etc. Politics are way cooler, scarier, and much more intriguing than movies these days. Even so cannels like Endymion make it their bread and butter to dog on the slop media and don't just offer milquetoast movie and gaming opinions/news. I used to follow big movie insiders like John Campea and his channel is doing terribly rn, why? Because most movies coming out are the most expensive slop they can force the brainwashed masses to consume and he shills for them. Hollyweird doesn't love us, they feed on us, and I'd avoid further idolizing it. Great video, and I agree with a lot of your takes. Steam Deck is a bastion for real gaming, I think. Can't wait for the next iteration.
VRR on OLED will cause flickering in some scenes in games so like you I find it better just lock the frame rate to 60 to stop the flickering. The flickering is not too bad as it took me 6 months to realize there were a slight flickering in some games. It doesn't happen all the time but I first notice it when the room was dark. At first I wasn't sure what was causing the flickering and had me worried something wrong with my OLED TV then I turn off VRR and it stopped.
Steam deck oled is bad for the eyes... Very low PWM rating, the worst on yhe market, its basically unplayable and... Therefore I bought the LCD version, because its PWM rating is perfect and safe for the eyes... I hope Valve changes this for the steam deck 2 or I will not buy it... I also hope they wont have variable refresh rate because it is bad for the eyes as well...
My mindset is that getting a Steam Deck at any time helps both Linux gaming and modular handhelds. So any SD purchase is good in my view!
I agree

would put all my money on yu loving the steam deck tbh those are two of the best things it can do other than emulating games

You mean a PC with Linux on it?

Yes, we need such console
We just need the OS and a usb stick
Who wants a console when you can have your deck and a decent PC?

GeForce Now works amazing on Steam Deck. I’ve been playing Call of Duty and it feels just like it’s on device.
So happy to hear that VRR is confirmed.
I NEED that feature!
My friend just now. "Imma steal his jacket and run away."

Bro's looking for a third installation of a game from Valve. Half-Life 3 confirmed?

I'm holding out on getting another handheld, because I want to have a significant bump in usability and performance when I do upgrade.
Jimmy thank goodness ha ha delayed gratification at max levels when waiting for a vid, thanks so much the commute is going to rock now

If you are on the fence about getting a steam deck, do it. Its the best piece of tech ive ever had.
Thanks for all the updates

What they need to release is that price on the steam dock bc $80 is crazy & stupid
watching this on my steam deck

Prediction. 12 - 18 months until the new deck is announced.
I do love me some escape from new York
Grr so mad you said steam deck 2! Grr!
Two things I want are 1. Edge to edge screen, and 2. A sim slot for internet without WiFi so can literally play anywhere
Teather to your phone, simple.
@@mikejay8888 that’s what everyone obviously does but I don’t want to do that. I want a sim so I can just pay for faster speeds when I’m on the road or on vacation
I want a second usbc. You could add a sim radio to usbc easily (or other stuff that isn't sim for people who don't want it)
@@Super1337357 ah yes a USB C on the bottom would be nice 👍🏼
Its not selling as well as switch ps xbox because Valve's international distribution network sucks....
Still no fix to FSR/NIS causing extreme performance issues when trying to upscale an image to a 4K TV in docked mode. Sigh.
I really wish all companies did what Valve is doing with the Steam Deck, we don’t need new sh** every year, it’s completely unnecessary.
Steamdeck is amazing 👏
Ballttlefield 1 eac is out and is broken on deck 😢
Yup, I'm so annoyed, uninstalled today

in bangladesh steam deck is 680$ lowest
How many more times is this guy going to talk about Steam Deck going to Australia? Is content that dry?
Deck 2 is fantasy , steam deck or pc gaming others are not orgianl
iphones should not be releasing on an iphone like cadence
