@@owenbradley6682 You don't have to like them, you can hate them but you can't deny they made some great records. That is if you know anything about music.
Exactly. Most musicians in bands are mere mortals. Not Bonzo. You could never replace him and I think Zeppelin were right not to beat a dead horse by carrying on.
This is the second time I have every seen Jimmy Page sing. There is a BBC video of Jimmy when he was 13 playing Skiffle guitar and now with Whole Lotta Love.
Quote "In 1980 Led Zeppelin decided to call it quits after 10 years." . .Well, at least they got the year right. A documentary on the most legendary rock band of all time and they don't even know how long the band was together! Sad.
Its unsual when a drummer isint replacable but in this case, I dont think anyone could have filled the seat left open by Jon....come to think of it, this may be the only band EVER (maybe the Beatles as well..?..)who couldnt have existed without THE 4 members it started with...LONG LIVE ZEP
they were gonna give cozy powell (RIP) a shot back in the day.. and carmine appice's came up as well.. both would have been excellent choices, but the band could never really be called Led Zeppelin without Bonzo.. they made the right call, but now the right call now would be to get past the legal red tape and get their new album out..
When I have selfish thoughts as I tend to have....ahem... I desperately want a LZ reunion but I think ultimately, they did the right thing by putting the band to bed when Jon Henry passed away...RIP... cuz even wih Jason Bonham on the kit, they were not THE LZ...they were a different band.......
They way they describe that they absolutely just knew there was no more Zep is classic. Shows what Bonzo and every member meant to the band. I know it was deteriorating before that but not replacing him and carrying on was the exactly right decision. Look at The Who...Carried on without Moon and even after losing Entwistle, I think. And many bands that still call it the same name with only one original member left. That's low class and money grubbing if you ask me.
The Who went on without Moon , but it sure as hell wasnt the same band afterwards . Moonie was irreplacable too really . But your point is well taken ,most bands can ( and do ) replace drummers without anyone even noticing . Bonham was not replaceable .
In the sort of romantisized haze that is my "brain"....ahem... I guess I pictured him singing old blues standards or joining up with somebody like BB King or Albert King to make epic blues records....ahhh... wot a bloody mess my head is in....pass me some more mary jane wouldya?....
Oh, Robert… You should be the last guy to criticize about copying other's material or style. Zep is still my favorite band, but we all know they stole, as did many bands back then.
The song you are talking about is "The Song Remains the Same". In the movie and during the 1973 tour (and other tours) that song led directly into "The Rain Song". However, it never makes it to the"The Rain Song" in the video above.
It is odd that Robert ended up being a kind of doo-wop solo act..Back in the day I would have seen him as an ageing bluesman sort of artist...But, everybody has bills to pay and I am certain that he made solo music that had a good chance to sell lots of units..."on purpose"...and can you blame him?...I cant....
There were always a couple of decent tunes and each of Plant's 80's albums, but the rest was not so good. You might be able to get one pretty good album taking two from each of the 4-5 that he put out over that time.
tony thompson and phil collins are both great drummers in their own right, but it required 2 drummers to do the work of the master himself, and yet the attempt at live aid was mediocre at best by both drummers...LOL !! Bonzo fucking rules the rock drum world , and that's it, case closed !
Robert.has moved on.thats terrific....you can't stand still.....but reading in between the lines.....he's trying to erase his role in led zep.....as though he's embarrassed.!.....and latterly with zep...he was becoming a diva...they had to play what Robert wanted.........shame.....ZEP was the greatest rock band ever!.
No he isn't. Led Zep sold out every night when they were on tour. It is such a ridiculous thing to say that it is meaningless. It makes u a hater for some reason. If u don't like Percy then fine but if he had continued to sound like lz after bonzo died that would've been selling out. As it stands he did what he wanted and if u don't like it the by all means don't listen to or buy his post lz music. It's so easy and u can listen to lz bootlegs on utube all day long and complain about something from March 1977 he did that u don't like. Great huh? Cheers
Oh dear.jealousy....Robert!.
Very few bands need all the original members because few catch that magic like Led Zepplin, U2 to name a few.
Keep your U2
@@owenbradley6682 When you can make an album like Joshua Tree let us know.
@@Pulse2AM you can keep your U2

@blica1 thank you, there is no replacement for true soul, not to say the others didn't have it, just not the way he did, epic talent.

The entire video of that is on youtube somewhere, if you wanted to see it. It includes a short interview.
There's a song called "She Just Satisfies" and Page is singing lead vocals. It was from 1966 or so.
yes.i believe they have the material

its really funny cause kashmir is on the first record that led zeppelin made with their own label, swan song, instead of Atlantic records.

Coverdale reminds me of Alan Partridge for some reason.

What material?
I personally think the Page/Coverdale project was the best post Zeppelin project any of the remaining members produced ...
page wasnt happy with collins then!
Oh Jimmy, no one would ever know if you're guitar wasn't in tune.

Zeppelin only sounds like Zep with a Bonham behind the drum kit. Lol Phil Collins. Jason is the best choice.

The videos are not in the right order.
This is not Part three. This is part one again.
just needed a better drummer
It really was plant that brought the twatty element to Led Zeppelin.
There was a "twatty" element to Led Zeppelin? Nope.
Plant is a sell out.
